Question Should I buy - ASUS ROG Phone 5 / 5s

Thinking of buying a used rog phone 5 for playing codm BR. should I, also where can i get the aeroactive cooler in europe for a normal price?

Since this is a very broad topic and you may be talking about anything in the world to buy. Being a gamer and big fan of games, I suppose you are going to buy pro version of some mobile app.
I'll urge you to use the kick the buddy forever mod apk all unlocked versions of the app which you can try from any source you may like. It'll save a few bucks for this app and also many other apps you may use in future.

Since this is a very specific section, it shouldn't be hard to figure out that the device is the item in question when nothing else is mentioned.
Whether or not to buy the ROG Phone 5 is a hard decision, but getting the fan for a realistic price can be done on the Asus official site. eBay is hit or miss, as a lot of the sellers are exporting the Korean version and charging considerable shipping on what already has a markup. The only reason to ever go with one of those third party sellers would be long-term unavailability.

DO NOT BUY. Previous update messed up my wifi n hotspot. I had to travel almost 50kms to get the motherboard replaced. This new update messed up my Air Triggers, they've started flickering. MYASUS support suggested me to upgrade to newest version Android12 and it's still flickering. Save yourself the trouble my friend and invest the same amount on a decent graphics card if you have a PC or rather upgrade ur PC. Ofcourse it's my personal suggestion.

The previous update didn't mess up your WiFi. It's a production fault that has impacted about 20% of users from certain regions requiring a motherboard replacement.
An 21 Ultra has similar specs, but without all the flashy lights and fancy software. It beats spending $1200 on a graphics card to realize that your PC doesn't fit in your pocket and the CPU needed an upgrade, too.

Not a fan of information I take it.

If you do alot of mobile gaming, I'd recommend it. I do a ton of gaming, streaming, and emulation on my phone since I vary rarely have the time to sit down at my PC. I've got the 5s version in the US bought from Asus.
Compared to my S21 Ultra, the software isn't has tight, fingerprint reader is a bit touchy, and the cameras are just OK, but the battery life is better, performance is noticeably quicker in general, and I don't think I can go back to a device that doesn't have the side triggers as it just makes gaming that much better.

Better go with Nubia Redmagic 5g...

Quite the opposite. Look, I get you're mad about what happened to your device. I didn't do that to you and taking it out on me isn't going to fix it. Also quite the opposite, it just means there is one less person who feels bad about it and wants to help.

[Q] Should i buy?

I wanted to buy this phone last year but it was a bit too expensive and out of my range, i must say i am totally in love with this phone. but now, many new devices have come up and this one seems to be quite scarce, it was launched a couple of years back after all, should i buy this phone now? what about the support for this phone that will only go down as the time goes by. Being a Desire S user, would you recommend it even now?

I passed mine to my fiancée and it's still working flawlessly. You can find tons of custom ROMs in the Dev section. With some tricks and tweaks I've managed to run Need for Speed on it without any lag (and shadowgun, and Dead Trigger).
The decision is yours, however if you are limited cash on this I can say you won't regret buying the DS. As the matter of fact. when I decided to buy a new phone, a lot of friends of mine wanted to buy my good old DS...

Same here. I bought mine when it was new. Everyone still love it (including me)
..only problem is the lack of support, in general sense, regarding warranty (which is expired for almost all devices), and also u cannot expect official software updates.
Listen what I did. I unlocked and rooted the phone. Now it's totally something else. These guys at xda have a solution for everything. They are better than official support anyway.
So, in price range of about 100e (120$) or even less, buy this phone. Just make sure it's not broken

secondhand ?
I don't think I would recommend one to you. Even though it was top-of-the-line phone 2,5 years ago, it now has many flaws that become apparent: it is relatively thick, the screen uses relatively little space on the phone's front, the amount of RAM is barely sufficient and so on. It's not a bad phone, but it's getting really old. If I were you I would rather look for a newer model with 1GB of RAM and dual-core CPU.

Just got an invite.. Is this phone worth it still?

Think you can get a Galaxy Note3, LG G2, Nexus 5 or other 800/801 spec phone for 350 (US) dollars?
I got the Nexus 5 and the OPO is way better(faster, better camera, quality materials, great design)
It's still worth it now and will still be worth it in the next 6-9 months and beyond.
But be realistic: it might have a band to some degree or it might not. You might have to use the supposedly poor after-sales service or you might never need to.
I have a very slight yellow band at certain angles. Being in China, it would be much easier and cheaper to send it back than those overseas but I will not. It doesn't bother me.
Overall: it's a big phone. It's a high-spec phone. It's a (comparatively) low-cost phone.

OPO blows the Nexus 5 out of the water. But who knows what the Nexus 6 will bring. I suspect that, if you are a diehard Nexus/pure aosp fan, the Nexus 6 would be a better choice (if you can live with subpar battery life). But if you like CM, the OPO is the best phone available. I'd say get it, and if you don't like it, sell it and get something else. You won't have any problem selling it for what you paid, and you might actually make some profit.
Way worth it. Typing this message on it
Don't know, just got mine and the volume buttons do not work at all. Now gotta wait another few weeks I guess and hope they answer my replacement request. Really bummed. Seems like a nice phone, but I cannot even boot into recovery with the thing to check stuff out.

Honestly, its worth it for $350. But I might sell it and get he Nexus 6 depending what is the specs and price. CyanogenMod is always buggy. By the time its stable, then there is already next version of Android. I would pay $100 more for 64 GB Nexus 6
People keep complaining about the small issues here and there, but the updates keep rolling in every week or two, so I can't complain!
People say other phones are better built or designed nicer, or will just plain be faster, being released in the next few months, and they may be right too.
The point is this, to me anyway: If you want something for a great value with good build quality, and are willing to deal with a couple kinks as they continue to be worked out, then this is your phone.
If you want 100% cutting edge latest phone with 99% bug free, then wait and pay $800 for the next phone that comes out from someone else. But don't buy this expecting perfection, and then be pissy and complain about it like 25% of the people on here do
Just my opinion

This guys opinion is pretty damn spot on I might add. Also asking in a forum is this worth it is really not a great thing to do. You cant get a definitive answer in a place like this. Also if you are on the fence then leave it alone and pass on your invite to others. Some will love some will hate it but its an electronic device which can be sold easily. No real risk factor at all.
Do what you like and feel comfortable with. I personally have little yellow banding which is not a big deal and everything else works as it should...
Worth it. My Notes 1/2/3 and Nexus 5 are all collecting dust now. The OPO is a superb phone.
It's absolutely worth it. Especially for that price.

Be aware that it does have several hardware issues including the yellow stain/tint/hue in the bottom of the screen. Here are some reviews. If you think you can live with those issues the go ahead:

Agree, but if the one you get is affected Oneplus will not replace it. They will only give you a refund if the RMA is within 14 days and you have to pay return shipping.
There are quite a few of other issues like ghost touch detection, multi touch issues due to bad grounding, battery draining too fast, random WiFi connection drops, etc. Take a trip around their technical support forum.
Some of these do not affect all devices and some are supposedly going to be fixed by software ipdates . But still buying this phone right now is like playing lottery and it turns out you lose with a bad device then good luck with their customer support.
Again, I'm not saying you shouldn't buy it, I'm just saying do your research before buying and know what you are getting into and what to expect.
Oneplus had a real winner in their hands but the way they have been handling things look very shady.
Here are some links:
This guy just gave up because Oneplus never had the decency to reply back to him. To my knowledge all phones have this issue including mine which really doesn't bother me but it those how the company handled the problem.

WiFi issues, I myself don't have that issue but I have seen several post popping up about wifi disconnects:

I posted already links about the yellow band but here is another one explaining why it is not glue and in fact a hardware issue as state Oneplus:

Honestly, a lot of the 'issues' I've seen talked about are just people not knowing how to use their device, or something that is out of the control of OnePlus (Google Play Services battery drain problem).
Where are you getting this information about OnePlus not replacing devices? It simply isn't true. I've seen multiple people report that upon opening a ticket for a valid fault they've been given the option of a replacement or a refund.
Don't get me wrong, I've also seen people complain about pretty crap customer support from the company, but that isn't the only kind of experience that people are having. Talking in absolutes like that is just wrong, and isn't really very smart.

Should I buy this phone?

Hi Everyone
I'm looking to upgrade from a Oneplus 3. Previously it was a great price for good specs.
I noticed the magic 3 whilst looking at YouTube and the specs look amazing.
1 - Interested to know of those who have had it for a while would you recommend getting it?
2 - what are the main annoying factors about the phone?
3 - Are there any others in the price range I should consider? I mostly play pubg, do retoo gaming and watch films with my existing phone
Many thanks in advance
Jamie
1 - Difficult to answer....if you're not into rooting and customizing, but happy with a basic Android experience and raw power, you should buy it......otherwise,if you want 100% flagship bells and whistless for half the price, you'll have to search futher,as this phone does not 'has it all' for just €479.
2 - For me,the most annoying thing is that there's much more to squeeze out of the camera,if Nubia's app would match the capabilities......but hopefully, there will be a working Gcam release in the near future.
3 - Xiaomi Mi 9....but I fell for the RM3.....
Many thanks for the reply, I don't mind rooting if necessary.
Also happy with a basic android experience as my oneplus was pretty much that when it first came out.
Thanks for the suggestion I will look into that also ??

I can tell the battery backup is awesome. Only problem I have is the gaming buttons are too annoying when playing a video.
I have it unrooted without gapps and IMO its better then some flagships. Reason is the big screen and the big battery and the stereo sound.
Also I prefer metal over Glas backside. And NO Notch.
The camera is better than that on my Xiaomi mi mix 3.
this phone is amazing, the only bad thing i see it had is not hdmi usb-c to support
I would wait for two main reasons:
1) Asus is going to announce their new ROG phone at the end of this month. While it will probably be a good deal more expensive, It might have some cool features
2) Nubia just announced they are going to release an 855 Plus version of this phone.

Thing is,no matter how long you wait ,there will always be something better on the horizon after your purchase.......no matter which device you've bought...
Hi,
Considering the price and the specs, I think the Red Magic 3 is about the best phone you can have nowadays.
If you buy it, you should consider two things :
- Chinese UI has a lot of features but is ugly and themes are mostly paid ones ;
- Europe/US/Asia ROM has ZERO features.
Once I recovered from the disappointment, the second solution was clearly what I was looking for.
So here is my advice :
- take the Europe/US/Asia version and flash it to your device (if it doesn't ship with that as stock)
- unlock the bootloader
-root your phone.
All this is done in like 4/5 minutes...
Once done, install all apps to add the required features.
You will have a phone that has ONLY THE FEATURES YOU WANT.
No bloat, no unnecessary stuff...
A dream come true
Of course, it comes with a price : once rooted, you will get OTA notifications but won't be able to install them...
Regards.

If you live in North America, I'd steer clear of this company.
I ordered one of their phones last week. I still have yet to receive my shipping notice. I ordered it with priority shipping, and according to their website, it should have shipped within 24 hours of payment.
4 days after it failed to ship, I contacted support, and was told "Be patient". Ever since then, they've stopped responding to emails. They won't give me any sort of clue as to when my order will ship. Apparently this is a frequent occurrence with Red Magic.
They're one of those companies that are only interested in getting devices out to reviewers, everyone else is to fend for themselves.
The support page on their website doesn't work. Apparently they didn't pay for it. Nubia cannot give any answers either, they just argue back in forth in the support email with several of the employees arguing about who's job it is to deal with.
If you ever receive a phone from them, and have an issue, good luck with that. Their current company (if you can call it that) shows that can't deal with supporting their devices. They can't even deal with fulfilling orders.
Stay far far away from this company, for you own good.
Is there likely to significant difference between the 8gb and 12gb ram? I think I'm going to get it but wonder if it's worth the extra money. Also just seen they mentioned the magic 4 by the end of the year. So maybe prices will come down
Well I'm in N.A. and I bought it from the site day it released. Great phone, few bugs at the moment and its a gaming phone at heart with stock Android, easily customizable. Honestly any game task you throw at it handles like a boss. It's an emulation dream with built in buttons. My controller and case should arrive the 22nd and I'm sure it will be great. I can tell you any Bluetooth controller works well on it too. The choice to buy is up to you, basically do you want a gaming phone or something else.
I have had this for two days in the USA and I love it. Usually I have buyer's remorse and would be looking for a new phone by now so I can say it really is great. Battery life is better than my S9 with a Mophie pack so far. Even with playing with it constantly I can't kill it in one day and usually my S9 needs to be plugged in by late afternoon. I have not rooted it yet, and may not. I love a clean version of Android. Not sure why people think that is bad. All the random customization sometimes comes with a speed cost. This phone is just plain fast. Usually I root to get rid of crap so you can see where I stand. If you hate big heavy phones, don't buy it. That is the negative. I had a ZTE Axon 7 and updates were slow so that's another negative. Other than that, super fast, great screen, great battery, strong data signal...it's a buy. Reminds me of the original OnePlus, or the Axon. Phones that were surprising values, but were big and heavy.

I'm coming from the OnePlus 3(T) as well, looking for a new device. What I didn't like at the Oneplus were the original ROM (luckily Lineage helped a lot) and the sound and position of the speaker. I loved the front facing stereo speakers of my HTC One (m7) years ago.
So I'm thinking of purchasing the RM3, but at the moment there are no alternative ROMS. Another device I'm looking at is the Black Shark 2, but situation with ROMs and support seems to be even worse.
For the RM3, I have concerns, if a fan inside a mobile will really last for some years, or break down at some time...
I also had the 3T and 1 and the 6T obviously this is just a better phone due to the increases in tech. No way to tell on the fan, I will say...and not sure how ZTE vs it's company Nubia will work, but my Axon 7 had a couple of screen issues due to my dropping it and the speaker stopped working, not sure if it was due to that and ZTE fixed it every time free of charge within the first year. I was very happy with their service on that phone. ROM support will be lacking but it's a clean version of Android so I prefer that

To me...a clean, lean ROM, which the US version is, rooted with Magisk and other mods I choose myself is always the best option. Some custom ROMs can get pretty bloated themselves

It depends on what you are looking for an what you want to do?
If you are a person who is happy with stock ROMs an just leaves cellphones in the state they are in out of the box then yes buy it.
However if you are a person who likes tinkering modifications an custom ROMs the please do not buy this cellphone.
I tried to install TWRP over 2 months ago an got stuck in a fastboot bootloop. Every xda suggestion to fix this plus paying a cellphone repair center an trying heaps of suggestions an it's still non functional.
It has horrible software an is rediculously sensitive to any and all attempts to FLASH ANYTHING.
If red magic 3s break you might never be able to fix them at a software level.
Mine lives in a bag by my bed to remind me not to bite off more than I can chew.
I have a xiaomi Mi9 now an have no real issues with it.
Good luck with your decision
So the options are to buy on Ali are with a stock Global Rom or a Chinese ROM. I see some other posts about people flashing to the Chinese one. Is that the best option to choose? I take it you can still select the language as English and support here etc? Thanks for everyone's responded it's been really helpful. I was thinking of holding out for the 855plus but not sure if I can afford which will be most likely an additional cost for it.
I also have the same question but mine is a bit different. Im convinced i am going to buy it but...
Should i buy it now or wait for the 855+ version? Idc if its gonna be a bit more expensive

I would of thought it would be more expensive as they still have the original to sell. Probably will stick another £100 on it or so I reckon ?

Which phone to buy

Hello and thank you for taking the time to read my thread
Im in between switching phones and I came across two that are in my budget first one is the tcl 10L and second is the Huwaei P40 lite, which of these phones is better for gaming? which one has the better processor and gpu? In my old phone I play a lot with emulators and one or two games from the play store.

Thank you for your time

I'll say the Huawei, for its bigger battery and its "more efficient" SoC (système on chip, equivalent of a processor to make things simple). It's 7nm for Huawei vs 11nm for the 10L.
But beware, if you take Huawei you may not have Google play services out of the box, so you'll have to install them yourself (there are some guides you'll find if you Google "Huawei P40 Lite Install Google Play". Also you won't be able to unlock the bootloader, meaning you won't be able to root your phone by classic manners (you'll maybe find some shady one-click root apps but don't, those are most of the time plenty of adwares and other stuff you don't want to have on your phone). For those two reason it's really hard for me to suggest Huawei in any situation, but since you wanted infos on performances, here you go I said it lol.
Have a good day

Huawei is spyware.
The Xiaomi Black Shark 2 (which is also spyware) I found for 244$ (although that was a discount) it"s normally for 300. You can't get better performance/price on any other phone. If you want something with a lot if custom roms go for the K20 PRO/Mi 9T (the same phones).

I googled best phones under 200 and I still think the p40 lite was better most 200$ phones have only 4gb ram and the p40 has 6gb, I really liked the phone and for 170€ I dont think its a bad deal

Yes, indeed that's a good deal for hardware. I personally had a similar situation when I was younger, I wanted my dad to buy me a phone that was good enough to run my favorite games and turns out Huawei makes really cheap and powerful phones... But the phone I wanted was available only in China. Fast forward now, as an Android enthusiast, there is another criteria that is really important to me: is there an active community behind the phone? Can we root it?...
And one last thing, a good phone (like Pixel phones) have very little RAM (Pixel 3 XL had 3 Gb). It's the SoC that make the difference. The SoC= CPU + GPU on the same chip, that's why we call it system on chip (SoC).
I've never really tested the quality of Kirin SoCs but I can tell you that a device with the lastest snapdragon processor and 2 Gb of ram is way faster than a device with a cheap processor and 8 Gb of RAM.
What's expensive in a phone isn't RAM, it's the SoC. On the SoC depends camera, graphics renders, calculations,... If your phone is fast and smooth, it's first because it has a good SoC, then because it has enough (and not a lot) RAM.
I use my OnePlus 8 with 8 Gb of RAM, and I can tell you, most of the time it uses 2Gb when I use normal apps (chrome, XDA Labs, a bit more when I play videos on social medias) and when in a game, I used 4 Gb (5 is a maximum).
I've hit very rarely full RAM usage, even when playing The Elder Scrolls: Blade (Skyrim Mobile)

I hope your phone situation will get better soon
If I can give you one last advice, it'd be better if you could wait a bit longer to get those 30 missing bucks to your budget. You don't buy phones every two weeks, and a phone is an investment, so if you want something that'll last long (if you use it carefully lol) and will get you the experience you want, wait until you have those 30$. When you'll have them, you'll have much more choice than what you have right now.
My OnePlus 8 was a really big investment, I spent around 500€ for it, but waited a very long time before I could afford it. Each month of work I saved a bit for my future phone (the OnePlus 8 wasn't out yet), and I knew that I wanted something really great for the first phone I'll pay with my own money. So I waited one entire year and accumulated 510€ in the end. I choosed the OP8 and bought it. I have to wait another month to pay TWS earbuds because this phone doesn't have a headphone jack.
In conclusion : always wait until have enough to buy a quality product, even if sometimes you have to live with inconvenience (my old phone had literally 2h of screen on time, so sometimes I couldn't even call with it, neither could I play games on it or watch YouTube when not plugged (hopefully quarantine helped lol))
In the end do as you want, this is just a piece of advices after all
Have a great day, and it's always a pleasure to help

Question Pixel 7 Pro is Awesome

People are having lots of launch issues with the 7 series, but I just wanted to say that (so far) my P7P has been really good! I like the brightness of the screen, the fingerprint works better for me, everything is snappy, not too hot at all https://nox.tips/ https://xender.vip/.
I hope other people are having a good experience, and if you aren't I'm sorry it's gone that way, I just want nervous people who are stalking the subreddit and seeing all these issues to know that it's not all bad! Having issues sucks, and quirks that you don't like also sucks but remember that you can RMA it and you can get used to things, but also to keep an eye out for any issues people are posting about.
I'm not complaining about these posts btw, keep them coming and I just wanted to give my intial feedback of the phone too, it's been great and I hope it stays that way. Happy Pixeling my Googles

I'm gonna say not nearly good for me so far but that's always been the case with me and nexus/pixel phones. I've always had lag issues, quality control issues and scrolling issues (particularly while we browsing). I've had all that with the current phone plus lost the ability to receive texts for 4 days. Everything seems to have resolved itself today for some reason but it'd par for the course for me. I used to think all android phones were buggy like this until I moved over to Samsung after the pixel 3 and it's been a great and smooth experience. I finally came back here hoping things would be better. I do miss the superior multitasking and overall brute force of the Samsungs but I do like the little things that the pixel gets right.

Seems like Samsung's your brand bruh. Stick with what works for you tbh.
Power button placement really annoys me. Why would anyone put a power button above the volume rocker? I keep hitting the volume up button thinking its power.
Screen has been pretty nice. The curve is not too bad this time around. I have been avoiding all "waterfall" screens since the OP7P because of the glare and other annoyances that come with such screen but this one on the P7P is ok.
Picture quality is great, probably on par with the iphones and S22s. Video is ok. Antennas are ok, havent had issued so far. Phone can get pretty hot randomly though. Was uploading a couple videos to the cloud and it was taking forever, drained a decent amount of battery and was super hot. Killed the photos app and everything went back to normal. Also got pretty hot doing a couple other things but hopefully nothing serious.
Also, I dunno if its just my luck or maybe thats just the default behavior since Android 12 but I have been getting lots of app reflesh/reloads when switching between apps. So if I am browsing in the reddit app for example, switch to my browser to do a couple things online, maybe open a notes app and note something down, go back to reddit and it refreshes back from the top instead of where I left off. Switch back to the browser and the website would reload instead of resuming where I left off. 12gb of ram on this phone and even had 18gb on my Asus ROG phone but keeps happening. If someone knows how to resolve this, I would be super happy.
Will try playing CODM and see how that goes, havent found a phone that doesnt throttle too much. Everything with an SD 888 and newer has been throttling (yes I know this is not an SD chip).
Sorry for my long reply but wanted to share my experience. Overall, I still like this phone and will probably stay with it for the foreseeable future.

Ah yes, the power button in relation to the volume button is a little annoyance to but I figure you can get used to it eventually. Harder to take screenshots that way I've noticed. One definite positive to this phone compared to my last couple Samsung phones is the batter life. Seems to be much better in that regard for sure. Gaming is definitely better on other phones compared to this one for the more demanding titles. But unless you're into competitive gaming you won't notice much difference.

Yeah for sure. Not doing any competitive gaming but will for sure be a downgrade when compared to Asus RoG Phone 5S Pro. Just not sure how much of a downgrade. Battery possibly also since that phone had 6k mAh. But obviously 2 very different price points. I am surprised you are getting better battery on this phone than the Samsungs (I guess depends which models you used). However I avoid all Samsungs due to no rooting ability so I cant compare personally (but my wife has been using them without issue).
Button I will probably get used to... or at least use double tap more often.

I was most recently using the z fold 4 be t before that the s22 ultra. Definitely good battery life but this pixel is about 10-15% better for me.
This Pixel 7 pro has been nothing shy of awesome for me! First year of no Google shipment delays, out the box the phone set up mirroring my old phone upon just signing in to my account. Screen is great, speed & fluidness is great, love the biometrics, no problems with battery life, etc.
Overall Pixel 7 pro is definitely the best Pixel to date for me. The camera bar actually looks much better in a case but that's just my perception. I also don't have issues with the power button as I've been using pixels for a while, which is funny because I thought it was perfect that they lowered the buttons a little this year which felt like perfect placement to me.
I've always had love for Samsung phones but they just don't do a good job to me at cohesively supplying a consistent product for "everyone".

Yeah I agree with you, I think one of the most smooth launches.
This phone is a huge step up to the Pixel 6 Pro, even though the spec sheets don't really show it.
As others have mentioned here the Power button and volume buttons are in a strange place, I keep hitting the power button thinking I am going for the volume up. The location of these makes even less sense if you are using a car holder/cradle because most of these cover these buttons or even rock them while supported.
Camera is great for the little I have used it so far, am very impressed with the quality even with a decent amount of digital zoom
Bluetooth connectivity and reliability is my better than Pixel 6 Pro.

I'm not. I'm getting considerably better battery life on this phone than I did on my S21 Ultra which was the phone I got the best battery life with from all the Samsung devices I owned, and the S21 Ultra in turn had a better battery life than the S22 Ultra if reports are to be believed. Although I can't confirm it personally as I've never owned the S22 Ultra.
Also, I'm sure you know but Samsung phones can be rooted, but it can't be done in a way which is non-traceable if a warranty repair is subsequently required. I speak from experience when I say it will be refused even if you unroot and relock the bootloader thanks to the Knox e-fuse.

S22 Ultra had similar battery life, but not better than Pixel 7 Pro at least with my own usage. I had S22 Ultra 30 days for testing only.
Also, Knox and their e-fuse is an issue outside of EU. In EU, tripping Knox or unlocking the bootloader doesn't affect the warranty.
I dunno, I miss the power button above. My P7P shipped a week early, so I'll have it by early next week! can't wait to see how it stacks up against my S22Ultra and OnePlus 7 Pro

I was under the impression that only Exynos version of Samsungs could be rooted and that it would trip Knox. I havent seen anything concrete about rooting a SnapDragon Samsung (at least not the last 4-5 years anyway).

A common misconception. It does. I've had a repair refused. Sure, I could perhaps take it further. Assuming I wanted to spend thousands on a court case.

To my knowledge Snapdragon Samsung phones can be rooted, providing you get one from a territory that doesn't have a locked down bootloader. The issue is that most Snapdragon Samsung phones in America are from providers like Verizon who lock down the bootloader, it's this that prevents root, not the SOC manufacturer.

Again, it doesn't in Europe Union, it's not a misconception. You're free to read the EU ruling on consumer protection. If the shop/store refused to do it, they're just scamming (or have no clue about this), but it's against the law.
You don't need to privately file a lawsuit in order for them to follow the LAW. There are government institutions that deal with this stuff, you just have to knock on a proper door (assuming that you live in Europe Union, because if not, that's a different issue).

Ehhhh... Samsung locks them down when ordered directly from them as well. There have been exploits but most of the newer phones, there is a dude who charges people to unlock them.

You don't need to privately file a lawsuit in order for them to follow the LAW. There are government institutions that deal with this stuff, you just have to knock on a proper door (assuming that you live in Europe Union, because if not, that's a different issue).

I can only assume you haven't dealt with a big corporation like Samsung. Knocking on a "proper door" won't make a difference, the amount of red tape you would need to go through renders it not worth the bother unless you have a determination on principle. And even then it won't be easy or quick. Then they'd likely still refuse and deal with the consequences.
Big business don't care about consumer rights, law or no law.

Ehhhh... Samsung locks them down when ordered directly from them as well. There have been exploits but most of the newer phones, there is a dude who charges people to unlock them.

I've rooted my Exynos s22u bought directly from Samsung, no problems (apart from Knox) Are we talking about SD here?

I could be wrong, but I believe what @ekin_strops meant about "Knock[ing] on a 'proper door'" is to go after the "small shop/store", not the whole Samsung corporation on the matter of repairing a knox tripped device in the EU.....
I can imagine the "red tape" and litigation to try and make that happen, honestly would probably lead to Samsung not even implementing knox to trip when unlocking the bootloader to begin with, but they have their reasonings (mostly to market their security capabilities as well as appease carriers) to do this and I doubt they'd let it go easily.....

That's why also big corporations like Apple need to switch to Type-C (in EU) because no one cares about the law, right? lol
I literally never got refused a repair from Samsung (In Germany) even though I OPENLY and CLEARLY mentioned that the Knox is tripped due to running custom binaries, literally sent the device in while it was rooted.
I'm not sure about your experiences, but in Germany, the law works pretty well, and regardless of how big a "company" is, if the law is on your side, there is no one scamming you out of your RIGHT to repair under warranty as it's stated in the LAW and the RIGHT for the WARRANTY under any of the mentioned circumstances.
