Lineage OS 11?
I ask because LineageOS/CyanogenMod has a weird version numbering system that throws folks off, so are you referring to LineageOS based on Android 11 (less likely) or LineageOS (formerly CyanogenMod) 11, which is based on Kitkat?
Anyway, asides from that, you're most welcome (on TWRP) - that recovery, and the current work on custom ROMs here has given some life to a rusty-ass, ancient tablet by 2022 standards haha

My encrypted TWRP nandroid backups fail with the following error message:
E:createTarFork() process ended with ERROR=255
Click to collapse
This only happens when I use encryption, and it always happens right near the end of backing up the Data partition (the System partition backup completes successfully).
N.B. The percentage of files and MB processed do not increase in-step, like with an unencrypted backup. The MB percentage increases to 90%+ far quicker than the percentage of files processed. When the percentages come in-line with each other near the end of the Data partition backup, it fails, and the above error message is given.
I was using a Titan build of TWRP to create nandroid backups on my Thea device previously, and had no issues with encrypted backups.
This is an issue, as there are sensitive security details stored in the backup, which must be encrypted with a strong password.

This happens to me all the time all of a sudden. I did not change anything at all, except for flashing a new CM version.
I also get a strange stat error, something with google.photo cache.
Yesterday, I have then flashed the new 2.8.6(7). from a few posts above and that gave my phone the rest. It might be because I flashed through TWRP itself into the recovery partition, but now additional to the backup error above when I want to erase dalvik cache, the recovery just hangs. I also can't restore a backup atm.
Now I have reflashed the real 2.8.6.0 recovery and it still hangs when I want to wipe dalvik... wtf is going on here?
And oh yea, my phone does not boot anymore either, it just loops at the flash screen...
UPDATE:
After I found some info on this thread about similar issues, I factory reset my phone with stock recovery (TWRP was not reliable anymore, even the 2.8.6.0 version that was running perfectly before) and then reflashed the latest CM on a wiped internal storage. Now I am up and running again with minimal loss of data due to my TB backups that are scheduled and save to the SD.
But this leaves a very weird feeling back, basically my phone was rendered useless out of nowhere (I was running the previous CM for 2 weeks already), making TWRP backups impossible and forcing me to wipe the internal storage with all media on it without giving me the chance to back it up (MTP in TWPR was also very flaky and died several times half in copy operations). Something is going very wrong with this phone, never ever had that on any of my 5 previous htc devices and the fact that the OnePlusOne users are among the main ones that reported similar issues, I have a feeling it is linked to cheap storage quality. Motorola is a Chinese company now after all... :-/

Hello mate. It's interesting to see different options come up when we started to think that development for XC come to an end. Thanks for this valuable effort. I want to ask a few things.
1- What is your opinion about dreaded problems with 4.9 kernel like random reboots and some reported Wi-Fi issues (although I don't remember I ever had this) etc.
2- recovery is independent of this setup right? I mean can I use twrp as recovery?
3- I suppose we'll be stuck with this boot.img unless personally build another one with synced sources right?
4-One of your cautions was about dead sd card? Is there a predicted risk or was it a general warning?
Again thanks a lot for this. I think I'll give it a try tomorrow may be.
PS: I also would like to know what to look for compatible GSIs. (I tried Phhs' and some other Android 10 GSIs with zygote and permissiver patches but they didn't past the sony logo. Stuck at sony logo or bootloop)
Update: Question 2 answered. No problem with twrp. Erfan's generic 10 gsi booted with zygote and permisiver patches. But stuck at setup screen.

1 - I don't know about these problems, I was with 3.x kernel before but you can rebuild the kernel of your choice (it doesn't take too much time) by changing the .dtsi file corresponding to our device
2 - Yes but do not wipe the cache, as the vendor image is in it
3 - Yes, but it doesn't take too much time to build it, share if you do
4 - Just a general warning, not experienced

Normally I set the selinux to permissive so no need to apply the permissiver patch
PS : sometimes it goes into bootloop but if you reboot it starts like a charm (test that with POSP 10)
PS2 : Mobile network does not work with Q roms, if you success to make it work please share
PS3 : POSP Pie works fine
Tell me if I'm thinking of installing Project Treble.
1.Flash all sections through the fastboot?
2.Ask for recovery what is in the link on the github?
3.Ask for a boot link on github?
4.Select vendor.img in the cache section?
5.What to ask for?
6.Select a suitable GSI image and boot again?
If somewhere I am wrong correct me. I'm sorry I'm new to this.

Good news that /e/ is working correctly, I was about to try to build a e variant on Chippa's build.
I do have one question. Really new to trebble.
If we wanna root it, we apply usual procedure*? flash the root zip(magisk) in recovery
This is amazing!! Breathing new life in to my XC. Thank you for sharing. Just flashed /e/ and it's working really well so far. Although I see that selinux is not enforced, anyone know why?

Then probably erfans 10 is better. Because sim Wi-Fi camera etc works. Just didn't tested thoroughly. Only downside setup doesn't complete. Personally I don't use Google services so no problem for me but setup notification persists like it tries to complete setup but doesn't actually progress.
I flashed /e/ and it's pretty stable and smooth but my device is overheating when charging and even when it's idle and the display is off. I'm getting severe battery drain from it.
EDIT: Wiping all the partitions and flashing from scratch seems to have done the trick.
I've been using Arrow OS and it's pretty stable and smooth so far. Comes with GApps built-in and Jan 2020 security patch:

You don't need TWRP for anything really. Fastboot to install ROM and magisk. Happy modding!
If you are on Android 10 you can safely flash to both slots.

[CLOSED]Twrp for pixel 4a Sunfish

This version of twrp does not support backup and restore.
Install to both slots.
Fastboot flash --slot all boot twrp.img
Steps to install custom roms and root with Magisk.
Put magisk.zip, rom and twrp.img on your internal storage.
Reboot to twrp recovery.
Factory reset.
Install, select ROM zip and swipe to flash.
It will install to opposite slot, no need to reboot to install gapps if necessary. Install ROM and gapps if necessary. Then reinstall twrp image. Click install, install image. Select twrp image. Choose, boot and install to both slots and swipe to flash. The purpose of this last step is because after flashing ROM, twrp is overwritten by custom recovery. This will ensure twrp is kept.
Boot phone to system once then reboot to recovery and install magisk.zip file. Then reboot to system. Setup phone and click on magisk app. It will download full magisk app and you will be rooted. No more patching magisk file for root or adb side loading Roms. This is not my work. I'm just sharing.

The difference is that you don't need a custom kernel with this version and this version is installed permanently as boot instead of ramdisk.
Even though you can install the other TWRP permanently, I do like the feature of yours of not having to use a custom kernel, but I need back/restore ability, so I guess I have to stick with what I have.
Hi,
Does this twrp allows the installation of other GSI images as well? Does the rom's build number have to do with anything if you want to root with this twrp? Can this twrp be overwritten/reverted or changed back to the stock recovery when flashed stock google images if anything goes wrong? Does installing a custom kernel after installing this twrp break anything?
Sorry for the sheer amount of questions as i'm still quite new to this kind of stuff for this phone specifically.
Yes

Yes, you can install other images. You can root with this, build # doesn't matter. Twrp will be overwritten if you flash stock images or even other custom Roms. You would have to flash twrp to both slots again after flashing. I haven't tried custom kernel's so I couldn't help you with that.

Hi,
Thanks for replying to my previous questions. I have tried to flash a GSI but was unsuccessful. There was no errors in TWRP when flashing the GSI image but it just wont boot. It will be redirected back to the bootloader with the error "no valid slot to boot" after flashing.
I had this issue previously when installing GSI images even through the normal fastboot but it won't boot modded boot images, the stock ones work. Is there something that i'm doing wrong here?

actually now that i think of it, I dont think its an issue with TWRP. I think is just that the Google Pixel 4A does not allow GSI installation. XD

I've additionally removed your attachments. Recoveries like TWRP are released under GPLv3 i.e. if you publish a TWRP on XDA it has to be accompanied by a link to its source. Further information about XDA's policy regarding GPL and how we enforce it is available here:

Development [TB-J716F] (Unofficial) TWRP for Lenovo Xiaoxin Pad Pro 2021

Team Win Recovery Project 3.x, or twrp3 for short, is a custom recovery built with ease of use and customization in mind. Its a fully touch driven user interface no more volume rocker or power buttons to mash. The GUI is also fully XML driven and completely theme-able. You can change just about every aspect of the look and feel.
Working:
Decryption
USB
Wiping
Fastbootd
Touch
ADB Sideload
Formatting Data (Sometimes it errors out after wiping data but it can be fixed by rebooting and trying again.)
Toybox
Not working:
Vibration (Low priority)
SD card (Should be possible to mount it manually for now)
Download: Android FileHost
Device tree: android_device_lenovo_J716F
Kernel: Using prebuilt kernel, Lenovo hasn't yet released the source
How to flash to your current slot:
Unlock the bootloader
Reboot into bootloader:
Form powered-on state: adb reboot bootloader
Or from powered-off state: Hold Power + Volume Down
Flash recovery: fastboot flash recovery twrp-3.6.0_11-0-J716F.img
Reboot to recovery: fastboot reboot recovery
Done!
Good work
Will you be working on any ROMS in the future..or do you use a GSI?

For now I'm using the GSI, but I do want to eventually port LineageOS to it (I have only little experience so this could take a long time). I'd also like to get mainline Linux booting on this tablet, since SD865 is supported in Linux and SD870 is an overclocked SD865.
EDIT: I've been using the GSI for some time now and the performance is great. I'll try looking into the issues the GSI has because if the GSI works good there's no need to make a new and seperate LineageOS port. I would need to learn how to do that first though so it can take some time.
Thanks for this! Great we're getting some custom development!!
excellent
Good work! Best of luck sir!
How about for Lenovo Tab p11 tb-j606f?

No, only TB-J716F. That model uses an entirely diffrent SoC.
It cannot recognize the TF card. Can this problem be fixed later? In addition, system and system cannot be mounted when switching to partition B_ Ext and other partitions, which is a relatively perfect work

I have no problems mounting the partitions under slot B, although I kinda bricked my A-slot (Not related to TWRP) but before that both worked fine.
For the SD card, you should be able to mount it manually until I fix it.
EDIT: Now my slot A is fine but B is broken?

Thank you. I'm trying to refresh the official firmware to slot B, hoping to correct the error
Just flashed this without any issues.
Thanks for your contribution!

Thanks... Installed nicely
