Question Aptx Adaptive support in GSIs and future custom ROMs - Motorola Edge (2021)

Hey guys. Bluetooth headphone latency is my biggest pet peeve these days, as more phones ditch the jack, the only headphone solution that kept me sane. The likes of Motorola Edge 2021 is one of the few phones in my budget that tackles this problem with the support on Aptx Adaptive.
I've recently been told that Aptx adaptive codec blobs, etc is found within the stock system, not the vendor partition, so if I were to flash a GSI or custom rom on this phone, I could lose access to that beautiful codec in the process, which is very disappointing.
Is that true, and if so, what can I do to combat such an issue on GSIs? Where exactly are the blobs for the codec located in the stock rom, and would I be successful should I pull the files off the stock rom and push it on to any given GSI? Please let me know, because this is driving me crazy. Thanks

Audio After Nougat

Phone's audio seems wonderful after the update, or am I just imagining things. Really loved the output of the device. Also the 3.5mm jack output were excellent as once they were used to be. Late update but seems to have fixed many plaguing issues.
Yeah i also noticed the speaker audio output is increased and nice compared to MM.
Yes this is one of the main reasons, I am not switching to any custom ROMs. Bcoz no other ROMs can give better audio output than STOCK N.

Initially N-Custom ROMs had the MM quality. Now almost all roms have the N-audio quality.
Beanstalk, AOKP and Every N-ROM build in vache's site and shreps' site have the new audio quality.
Sadly my favorite ROM, Resurrection Remix, still has the MM audio quality. Even today's Lineage OS OMS build has MM audio Quality.
Back while I was using the soak test N, one day I noticed lint clogging the earphone jack, which was obstructing my headphones from being fully connected (I wasn't getting that satisfying snap you get when they're properly plugged in) and worse, this was causing the earphones to play audio in only one ear. After a great deal of trial and error, I found that with some struggling, I could plug them into a limbo state of sorts where the sound was somewhat weaker but at least let me listen through both ears. I cleaned the lint out with a safety pin, careful not to scrape too hard. But the problem persisted despite these efforts.
I eventually resigned myself to this state and eventually became used to listening at diminished volumes. (I will never let you go, Jack!) So imagine my surprise when, having installed the official N update, I discovered that the jack was working fine! Audio quality even improved over the previous software.
I'm wondering how a software upgrade solved a problem that seemed like a hardware failure though.

Stock android - Terms and conditions applied

Who am I - just to get my perspective, i am a stock android user since android 4.0.4 (Ice cream Sandwich)
I will start by saying that yes its a good device, with stock android and decent hardware. There are a ton of reviews on the internet praising this device, so to balance the universe, i'll only mention the things i don't like.
Android One on this device isn't the same as it was on earlier devices. Android 8 (even 8.1 now) is out for months and still this device is on android N, which wasn't the case with previous Android one devices, they used to be updated absolutely on par with the nexus devices. This could basically be because Xiaomi is in control of the android updates here instead of google, which wasn't the case earlier.
Amazing audio quality- I don't know how many of you know but LOUDNESS isn't equal to QUALITY. I was surprised by reviewers boasting its audio to be comparable to flagships. On the contrary, there's static noise through the 3.5 mm jack of this device which is really annoying to some who really knows anything about sound quality.
Ahh! The Cameras - one word - EIS. Okay, i get that you like people taking great photos, but people do use their phones for recording videos too, wouldn't it be nice if you could just let them see stable memories???
Rest are some minor grudges-
"Headset is plugged in", yeah i know my headset is plugged in xiaomi/google, would you please remove that annoying notification sticked to my ntifications panel.
"HD" instead of "VoLTE", yes, i am a crybaby.
No different profiles for notifications sound when headset plugged in, the most annoying thing is getting bombarded with loud notification alert when listening anything via headsets.
No double tap to wake
Non-interactive ambient display Fixed
No night light Coming soon :highfive:
That's all folks!
I came from Nexus 5X and these features were not present in stock pure Android either:
No different profiles for notifications sound when headset plugged in, the most annoying thing is getting bombarded with loud notification alert when listening anything via headsets.
No double tap to wake
No night light
No EIS
This one has been fixed in the December update in Mi A1:
Non-interactive ambient display
Just my 2 cents.

This device was released with android 7.1.2 right as 8.0 was released so it makes sense that it would take 3 months to get Oreo since they have to go from scratch. handing most of the control to Xiaomi but supervising was a good move by Google, older android one devices as far as I understood had major maintenance issues, months went by without updates and they only supported it for less then two years.
for example the Infinix hot 2 was released with android lollipop, got marshmallow and that's it, no more updates other then a couple of security updates. so far Xiaomi has been delivering a lot of updates, so for now it's defiantly the right move. keep in mind android P will be released at the same time as the Google devices
I hate how too many people like you are bombarding the Mi A1 for no sensible reason. I think most of you are just frustrated because there's nothing to do on the phone, no custom ROMs, no kernels and no Oreo update and I get it but at this price point this phone is a steal, I think if you're that picky like you complain them about " "Headset is plugged in", yeah i know my headset is plugged in xiaomi/google, would you please remove that annoying notification sticked to my ntifications panel.", I really think you need to develop your own company to make you the phone you want because I don't think any other device out there would be able to fulfill all your fantasy features and even if they were able to, I bet you'd start bashing it too as soon as it starts to bore you. Other brands don't even give a damn about their phones' issues, at least Xiaomi to a certain extent does.
Stop spreading so much hate for even the very very tiny issues.

Noone can dictate what issues are tiny for someone else. Please calm down, there's nothing wrong for if a person says things that he /she don't like about a gadget he/she purchased.
Keep the thread civic and informative, and this isn't a suggestion.

Oneplus 6, 8GB 256GB ROM, OOS 9.0.2 (stable) - Bluetooth Issues?

Hello people,
I am using my Oneplus 6 since day one as (more or less) heavy user (kinda IT-Admin stuff, bit gaming, etc.) and I'm absolutely stunned by that phone, I'm always on the latest OP-Device since day one.
So... but I'm now struggleling with the Bluetooth Connection with my Headphones. I am using my Beyerdynamic Amiron Wireless with my Oneplus6 via Bluetooth.
Now the thing is - sometimes if I turn my head around, the connection is getting unstable and I can't enjoy my music. With my 6€ amazon Bluetooth dongle on my working-PC I am not experiencing this problem, even if I walk through the office here (+/- 5-10 meter), totally stable, not getting unstable. But if I am underway before or after work, or in the city - I am experiencing this issue with my headphones.
I already made a full reset (factory reset) and flashed the latest OOS 9.0.2 with the unbrick tool, just to exclude it could be an buggy update or something. I even made a whole reset of the headphones (and checked for newer firmware, but there wasn't one).
Have anyone of you any ideas about this? F***s me up right now...
I am unrooted, no magisk or any mods.
Cheers
Hi, I'm using the Sennheiser HD1 free, and the only problem i have is on PUBG i have a little bit of latency , even if they are aptx compatible, i'm on the last stable 9.0.02 and i have a 128/8 variant, but with music, videos or calls they are perfect, you tried to factory reset and debrick so i guess i have nothing to advice you for
good luck

When i connect it, it shows a toast and a logo of Qualcomm aptx
And also
from :https://www.theverge.com/circuitbre...s-on-impressions-comparison-bluetooth-earbuds
"The Momentum HD1 Free and CX 6.00 BT look virtually identical. The hardware for the cables, the in-line remote on the right earbud, the battery module on the left earbud, are all exactly the same — the two products even share the same FCC ID. Both headphones have Bluetooth 4.2 and support Qualcomm aptX and aptX Low Latency audio for higher quality playback, assuming your device supports it, which makes sense seeing as, again, they’re more or less the same."
I'm not test it yet with bluetooth headphones, but i don't have any bluetooth problem with my car audio and galaxy watch. OnePlus 6 8/256GB A6000
I have 8/256, am on 9.02. See frequent disconnection during calls made via car's BT. Not that it should matter but I have 2018 MB E350. No BT problem making calls with my wife's Samsung S9+. I did not have any issues with OP6 when I was on Oreo. Tried factory reset, clean flash, all the steps OP mentioned.
I'm on the 8gb/128gb not the 256gb and I have to issues whatsoever. I'm using Sony MDR-XB650BT headphones which are aptx compatible and an Mpow Bluetooth receiver (3.5mm Jack) my 2011 Pathfinder Bluetooth and my Samsung gear SEE frontier... all without any issues or drop outs.
I'm on 9.02 rooted with Magisk 17.1 stable with TWRP blue spark v986 v2 and EX kernel 3.02
I have the same issue and I believe it has to be because of low quality headphones, not the phone itself. Thought my nexus 6P was the problem but the issue remained on my new op6.
So get better quality headphones or it won't go away unfortunately

Beyerdynamic Amiron are not even close to low quality. That being said i am having the same problem with some low quality headphones and just assumed it was them.
But I am also having a problem getting any changes i make to bluetooth in developers options to stick. So not really sure what to think.

Didn't see what kind of headphones he was using, my bad.
But I still highly doubt it has anything to do with the phone anyway, since everything (at least what I use bluetooth for) else is working extremely well, just my low quality headphones has issues.
And at least from my side, since the issue remains from two totally different phones I think it's something else. If it's not hardware related to the headphones then my best bet is some kind of settings inside android.

I changed too the settings of the dev option but none of them seemed to get saved, try the OB rom or another rom to see if it's the stable one is the main cause
OP6/8/256 + 9.0.2 + cheap no name BT resembling Crapple earphones.
Stable connection but 600ms latency, exactly as under 8.1, 9.0, 9.0.1 stock.
Sometimes volume skyrockets and requires adjustment.

LOL! It's E450. I still have 2015 E350- my son is using it (just turned 16, so only during the day with my wife in the car with him). Actually, BT disconnecting issue I mentioned happens in both cars. I may ask the service folks to look into this issue when I take my car for service next month. It does not happen all the time but get disconnected while I am still talking and have good signal.
OnePlus 6 w/ 9.0.2 - has been factory reset by clearing data and cache in recovery, as well as factory reset within Android.
My issue is with my vehicle's Bluetooth. Media playback is fine, however the vehicle often thinks that the phone has no signal, when it does have signal. When the vehicle does that, I can't make calls from the vehicle, but making or receiving a call on the phone itself will work through the vehicles speakers and mic.
No issues with my iPhone, or any other Android I've used. This is the first and only phone with this problem.

thinking of buying the poco x3 nfc, need advice!

i read here and elsewhere about some issues with this device, but i can't tell for sure if its common or just certain people who were unfortunate.. i have a few questions and i hope you guys could help..
1- is there a common issue with wifi and/or cellular(LTE, 4G, 3G) connectivity in this device, such as dropped calls, dropped signal, wifi misbehaving ?
2- is there a common issue regarding the stereo speakers? (some say people around could hear the person you're talking to on the phone, others say the phone vibrates when playing music!)..
3- is it possible to set the display refresh to say 60hz from settings, or does it change automatically and can't be controlled by the user?
4- are there any common issues with custom roms, for example custom roms for the note 8 pro all have issues with automatic brightness and maybe a few more things!!
5- is there anything else i should know or worry about regarding this model?
hope you guys could help. thank you.

This phone is the most bang for your buck imo, but nothing is perfect, so to answer your questions:
Signal strength in this phone is absolutely great, especially the 4G+/LTE+ mode (if your carrier supports it). If i were to to compare Poco x3 to high end devices, I would compare it to a Samsung Note 9 or in the similar generation/production year. Some Custom ROMs have issues with 5GHz wifi reception, but on most of them and stock MIUI you will find no issues.
After MIUI 12.0.4.0 (currently 12.0.7.0 is latest) the speaker problem was resolved. It mostly was due to the fact that calles were handled in stereo mode instead of mono and the treble was too high, but It was noticed quickly and dealt with. Music will still rumble a bit in highest volume, although it gives the bass a better boost (people here have different opinions on this issue).
If you plan to use the phone at stock MIUI, you will get two refresh rate options: 60Hz and 120Hz, both of which are dynamically adjusted to the content you are on. For example youtube will scale down to 30Hz when watching a video regardless of which option you chose. Custom ROMs (all of them) have this feature/annoyance called displayfeature hal removed and have added a 90Hz mode as well. So a stock experience isn't advised.
Nothing notable comes to mind. Ok maybe Camera is slightly an issue, but Gcam is getting better everyday where it's almost the same as stock cam (if not better). If you divide different xda phone forums into alpha, beta and stable, then our phone has already transitioned from beta to stable status. You have missed the "beta" phase by a few months now.
Like all Xiaomi devices, EDL mode is locked. Meaning a hard brick is costly to fix/repair. If you never flashed a phone shipped with android 10 before (most people haven't), then read all instructions very carefully, especially recovery threads. Magisk CTS sometimes doesn't pass, but that issue isn't really exclusive to this device.
I have bought two devices. One early in September, which has no issues. The other I had to return recently due to QC issues, as it only had 85% battery capacity (from official seller), so my advice would be to check everything including sensors and battery. If everything looks ok, then you're all set.

A great DAC and not being able to use it ...

The Pixel 4a has this DAC, which as you can see is a great DAC, its specs are even better than many HIFI portable audio players. Well, for the uninitiated, android acts as a bottleneck in this case, as it always limits the audio output to 16bit 48khz (using a low quality resampler for the benefit of performance)
Is there any way I can use it decently? Because Google apparently has no intention of doing anything, it hasn't even shared any information on how to use the DAC, and I don't like the idea of having to use an external dac even though the 4a has a headphone jack.
I'd like to know too. Doesn't Viper4Android help get more out of it? I'm getting pretty great sound with that + PowerAmp.

Also, have you tried Ainur Narsil? Perhaps it does what you want. I'm just unsure whether it will work on Android 11, it seems development is paused.

I've no idea actually. I'm interested in this stuff, but not so much as to notice worse quality with the 48khz Android output. And yeah, that's why I haven't tried Narsil, it doesn't seem to be too well tested in A11 and we don't even have a proper TWRP in case something goes wrong. Still, I am noticing a difference with my modded Sony NW-A45, but it's not like it sounds better, it sounds different perhaps.
Poweramp is terrible. You need an app that bypasses androids software. Usb audio player pro is the best available. It plays bitperfect audio. Neutron is second, it can also play bitperfect audio. Both apps can output 32bit/364kz at whatever rate the Track allows. Uapp plays MQA as well
