How does lineageos back up data in a mobile phone

I recently rooted my AT&T Nexus S (i9020a) and then after installing a rom, I discovered that my mobile data (3G and everything) was no working. The WiFi works fine but I can't call or text ;( Please help!
Before nexus 5 update(4.4.4 official img)
Had to factory reset ROM (data wipe) in order for my phone to switch back to Sprint from T-Mobile(SIM Card)
After nexus 5 update(LRX210 official img)
No longer have to reset ROM. Just pullout. T-Mobile SIM, put in Sprint SIM. Reboot, update prl and profile...and I'm good to go!!!!
Anybody notice this with other carriers?

I never had to hard reset and I used to switch Sims all the time. Only think I had to do was edit the mobile networks and switch from lte to global and back to lte in order to get mobile data working after a swap..
Are there such rom for HTC one sv ?
No wireless
No mobile data
No Bluetooth
It must be that way so the user can not install even if do hard reset
I just clean installed Alexis 5.2 & I had mobile network, but didn't set up Mobile Data/APN since I was using WiFi. I'm currently in Mauritius, an island near South Africa & the csc BTU always worked fine for me for custom roms on my s6.
But after installing the configuration message for apn from my carrier, mobile network keeps going on & off.
I forgot to backup efs in twrp.
I'd be very grateful if someone helps me please. This is stressing me out

Did you try resetting your network and or full phone?
Have you considered reinstalling your CSC?

Alexis 5.3 fixed it
Mobile data doesn't work for me after the A12 update. Volte works though. Downgrading back to A11 using the official downgrade zip fixes mobile data, but I get the OTA to 12 again. Any idea how to fix it in A12?
nvm, removing and reinserting sim card fixed the issue
