You can debloat with no root, check this post:

you wouldn't have bootloader unlock and therefore no root, you posted this in the wrong section BTW.

currently one service can't unlock the newer firmwares and the other is on hiatus, maybe for the same reason.

service told me to keep an eye out for a certain version of bootloader so when the phone services im going to boot it up with out setup and see what version

I had to return my Canadian edition, locked bootloader.
I ended up having to buy the international model with OEM Unlock which Canadian does not.

can i replace the motherboard of the SM-G781W with a SM-G781B one? or would i be still not able to unlock the bootloader

Hello friends,
Recently I moved to Canada, I have the international model, G781B, I was wondering if it is possible to flash the canadian variant. Reason: 5G didnt work so far, tryied everything to make it work, even manually configuration of Bell network.
Comparing at the gsmarena.com, the hardware looks like the same.
I'm almost giving up and buying a new phone.

Most likely your carries uses mmwave 5g network, and international S20 FE 5g uses the other spectrums for 5g. There is no way a software flfash can change anyting, and I do not think that you can even flash software for thw wrong phone model, as odin check the BL version prior to flashing

Any reason not to get the carrier version of s7 if installing a custom rom?

I use Straight Talk (AT&T sim) in the US. I am looking to get a phone I can install a custom rom on. (Still researching which rom). Since the carrier-specific models of the S7/edge are about $100-200 less used, is there any reason NOT to get a carrier specific model?
Since I'm installing a custom rom, all carrier bloatware would be gone. Wouldn't this effectively be the same as the unlocked model, maybe without international capabilities which I probably wouldn't need anyway.
Is the AT&T model the only one that would work on Straight Talk (AT&T sim)? I'm looking for the cheapest variant that will work.
Thank you.
Some may have a locked bootloader making it impossible to flash TWRP / Custom ROMs

There aren't any, you need the canadian or international s7 if you want roms, all american phones have locked bootloaders, there's a half assed root for it but that's it.

The unlocked part refers to its ability to be used on any carrier, nothing to do with the bootloader, its still locked like all the other snapdragon phones.

Ahhhh....it boils down to the chipset. So the G930F with Exynos looks to be what I want for running a custom ROM.
Bingo.

unlock s7

Hi, I came from S4 and teted several Roms. Can I unlock the S7 so easy too?
Unlock what? Carrier, bootloader, or root?
I want to install custom rom CM15 or similar. On my S4 I had TWRP. How can I install it on S7?
Which version of the s7 do you have? I think the Verizon and AT&T versions have a locked bootloader.
Not just Verizon and AT&T, all US models. Sprint, carrier unlocked, etc.

I believe there's a chinese snapdragon variant that is the only exception, otherwise yes just Exynos.

Conversion from SM-N986W to SM-N986U/U1: Still possible?

Hi guys, quick question... My good old Note 9 (Canadian variant: SM-N960W) is flashed with an unlocked/unbranded US firmware (SM-960U1), and everything's working flawlessly (Wi-Fi calling, VoLTE, OTA updates, etc.). The main reason I did it: Canadian carriers are useless morons, they take weeks/months to release updates, and I've been more than happy with the quick updates I get with the US firmware installed.
I would like to do the same with my Canadian Note 20 Ultra I will receive Friday, but I want to make sure it's still possible, with "Odin Patched", to flash a firmware from a different region on the Note 20 Ultra.
Someone on XDA did it? Did it go well, and did it break something?
Many thanks

Thanks for the heads-up, I didn't thought about 5G, but glad to hear it's still possible to do it (flash a firmware from a different region) without bricking the device. I'll probably pick faster updates over 5G for now, considering I live in the middle of nowhere and have access to LTE only anyway
I have a Rogers Note 20 Ultra, I will wait for the updates because here in this part of Ontario, has 5G for whatever reason. I really enjoy streaming Xbox games from the cloud. Almost no delay.
You should be able to flash U or U1 firmware using patched Odin. Just make sure if you have a carrier locked version (not sure if thats a thing in Canada) to have it SIM unlocked before flashing anything, especially if you plan on changing carriers ever. After going to U1 firmware, you can access the service mode menus to enable bands for LTE, NR 5G and DSS. Canada uses 5G bands n38, n66 and n71 and DSS. The only band I don't see available in the US firmware is n38, although it may be available under another CSC like WWD or GCF. I have included a screenshot of the bands I've enabled under the Verizon CSC.
Has anyone with an N986W been able to flash the U1 firmware yet?
Has anyone tried it already? if its possible to flash SM-N986W to U or U1
Did anyone flashed SM-N986W to u or U1. Can you share the experience Please.

This can be fixed by flashing the home_CSC file of your carrier and then there are many other ways to fix this. So take this information lightly.

What he said :good:. Also you would be able to get on Beta on which a lot of 5G things were fixed / enabled so in fact that might work for you.
Only things i would want you to check before flashing the US firmware is:
1. Is it a dual sim phone? If No you are good.
2. Do you have E-sim Capability enabled? If No you are good.
3. What variant is your phone ? If Snapdragon you are good.
ohh if you are flashing US firmware flash the U1, no need to flash U firmware. Do check if you are sim unlocked because in case you are not and in future you want to sim unlock your device you will have to be on Carrier Firmware, if you plan to stay with your carrier for a long long time and or if you are sim unlocked this should not be of a concern.

For anyone still wanting to convert their N986W to US unlocked N986U1 I just wanted to say its possible. I used modified Odin and put the U1 firmware on my N986W. Hello,
I have a n986w (freedom locked) and i was wondering does every band work with u1? Or do we have to manually enable bands from service mode? And if i may ask where did you find modified odin and u1 firmware? And why did you roll back? I am still new to samsung phones, i had my fair share of modding android in past but sammy does thing bit differently so i am but confused about everything

Your N986W with freedom is probably not sim locked. I know mine isn't and someone earlier in the thread said that phones in Canada aren't sim locked anymore. So you should be able to proceed. When I switched to the U1 firmware I was receiving LTE signal on freedom. I did not test any other bands as I was just in my living room. There is a guide here on xda regarding enabling all the bands and there is a link to it from the thread I followed in order to switch to the U1 firmware. The link to modified Odin and U1 firmware is also in the same thread. The thread OP is warriorvibhu and its about switching from U to U1 firmware but you can follow it just the same and you can find that thread and the thread for sideloading the beta in the Guides, News and Discussion section. Sorry I couldn't add a link for you I have limited time right now. I rolled back because I just wanted to see if it could be done or not. The instructions were straightforward. Good luck and enjoy.

It did not trip knox as its official firmware. You will have to manually flash the betas. Also, when you get the U1 firmware, make sure that you download the one ending in ATID. That is the one required for the beta. I read both the guide for the beta flashing and the guide for flashing the U1 firmware before I proceeded. Also make sure you remove sim card b4 flashing U1. Have sim in when sideloading the betas and be careful you don't accidentally take an update between U1 and beta or you will have to re-flash ATID.

Reflash AT&T 20 Ultra to Unlocked Firmware?

I've looked through threads of people doing the reverse of this. It's been a few years since I've had an android and was running nexus devices then. What's the process to flash an unlocked firmware on an AT&T locked 968U to the 968U1 firmware (assuming there aren't issues doing it)?
Are there any other pitfalls I need to be aware of prior to doing it other than the wifi calling?
If this is already posted somewhere else, please feel free to point me there. I didn't see any info about going from a carrier locked 968U to unlocked firmware.
Thanks in advance.

Hello all, I have a Note 20 Ultra 5g that is unlocked and I'm looking to flash the original ATT firmware for this device.
Having this unlocked version on Firstnet has been nothing but problems and I don't have access to band 14 or wifi calling.
I see this thread is a little old but if anyone could help me out or send me in the right direction I would greatly appreciate it!
I have rooted some of my older phones several several years ago so I think I could pick this back up pretty quickly. I know over the years things seem to get easier and have probably changed quite a bit since I've last done something like this.
Thanks in advance!

AT&T hasn't released any "official" firmware for the Note 20 series.
Since Samsung firmware is multi CSC, just flash any firmware with the same build number as the AT&T variant and use your AT&T SIM card.
Go to this thread https://forum.xda-developers.com/t/ota-and-non-ota-firmware-for-n986u-and-n986u1.4143833/
Make sure you know what device you have, U or U1. Then grab the appropriate version.
Fir AT&T U devices, N986USQU2DUCA or N986USQU2DUCA will work.
For AT&T U1 devices, N986U1UEU2DUCB is the most recent version.

Yes you can, please look for instructions I have posted instruction on this device forum to go from U to U1 and vice versa

which model has bootloader unlock?

I'm in USA and on Verizon. No matter how much digging on the forums I'm not sure I can ever be sure which exact version of the 8t would be the carrier unlocked international version with available bootloader unlock and root available. Hoping someone could provide with that info, thanks!
If you buy it directly from OP you should be good to go. Just make sure it's not been purchased through T-Mobile and hardware model KB2007.

Why TMobile? Is there not an equilvalent, for example to my V30 that was a non-carrier branded unlocked international model? And Sykojoe mentioned the KB2005, which one is that? I'll admit I haven't even looked up yet.

I'm saying if you are NOT a T-Mobile customer, don't buy a phone that is locked to the T-Mobile network. You need to get them to SIM unlock it then you need to get a bootloader unlock token from OnePlus before you'll be able to flash any other ROMs.
KB2005 is the international version from OnePlus. That is the one you want to get. If the model number is KB2007 it's from T-Mobile.
