I'm in USA and on Verizon. No matter how much digging on the forums I'm not sure I can ever be sure which exact version of the 8t would be the carrier unlocked international version with available bootloader unlock and root available. Hoping someone could provide with that info, thanks!
If you buy it directly from OP you should be good to go. Just make sure it's not been purchased through T-Mobile and hardware model KB2007.
KB2005

Why TMobile? Is there not an equilvalent, for example to my V30 that was a non-carrier branded unlocked international model? And Sykojoe mentioned the KB2005, which one is that? I'll admit I haven't even looked up yet.

I'm saying if you are NOT a T-Mobile customer, don't buy a phone that is locked to the T-Mobile network. You need to get them to SIM unlock it then you need to get a bootloader unlock token from OnePlus before you'll be able to flash any other ROMs.
KB2005 is the international version from OnePlus. That is the one you want to get. If the model number is KB2007 it's from T-Mobile.

Is there a factory unlocked variant (preferably with an unlockable bootloader) that will work on Verizon?
No, the carrier unlocked one still has a locked bootloader.
It will still have a locked bootloader but yes, the US Unlocked variant of the S8 will work on Verizon

Can anyone tell me the model number for that US Unlocked variant please? Maybe provide a link for where to buy one.
Willmyphonework.net shows the SM-G9500 has all the correct bands. Will it work on Verizon?
I saw an article describing how to unlock the bootloader for the LG V50 ThinQ, but was curious if this was for all carriers?
TIA

My V50 arrives tomorrow (Unlocked Korean version) I can't tell you about the USA Sprint version but I doubt you can unlock the bootloader without an exploit. We'll see.
Looks like LG is only allowing bootloader unlock for the LG V50 LMV500EM for the European market. Very disappointing.

They almost always allow the European version to be officially unlockable. That doesn't necessarily mean that it will be the only version to be unlocked. We just have to wait for someone to find an exploit, either by the different .kdz's that are available online or through LAF/LGUP. For Now I'm just not gonna update just in case the phone has a anti-rollback feature.

Exploit?? Like the one they found for the V40? They used to always allow bootloader unlock for the US unlocked variant, but stopped after the V20. If you have T-Mobile or AT&T your gold with the European variant. Those of us on Verizon or Sprint are pretty much out of luck.
Cheers
its for EU variant only. really disappointed with LG, why can't they just allow the other variants to be BL unlockable.
LG devs are already leaving because of this implementation. :crying:
Searched around and couldn't find any answer to this question. Is the Pixel 4a bought at best buy rootable? Thanks.
I bought mine from Telus and I straight up asked the guy if they lock down the bootloader, he said no and I can confirm that to be the case. OEM unlocking is available in settings after enabling developer, though I haven't actually done it yet.
I don't think any Canadian carrier locks the bootloader

Unlocked version doesn't mean bootloader unlockable, it means sim card unlocked.
Pixel 2 "unlocked" version from Best Buy was not bootloader unlockable.
To anyone who's looking for this information, I can confirm the Best Buy variant of the Pixel 4a is bootloader unlockable.

I already stated that in my previous post that it was boot loader unlocked if you buy the unlocked version from Best Buy.
Thanks for your forum service and confirming again ???

As stated in that article "This method will not provide you with a T-Mobile SIM unlock."
If you want it sim unlocked you need to contact T-Mobile.

Not that I know of, but you can read/ask here https://forum.xda-developers.com/t/t-mobile-bootloader-unlock.4181339/
I would recommend buying a non locked version though. Especially if you live in the eu.

you wouldn't have bootloader unlock and therefore no root, you posted this in the wrong section BTW.

currently one service can't unlock the newer firmwares and the other is on hiatus, maybe for the same reason.

I had to return my Canadian edition, locked bootloader.

Hello friends,
Recently I moved to Canada, I have the international model, G781B, I was wondering if it is possible to flash the canadian variant. Reason: 5G didnt work so far, tryied everything to make it work, even manually configuration of Bell network.
Comparing at the gsmarena.com, the hardware looks like the same.
I'm almost giving up and buying a new phone.

Most likely your carries uses mmwave 5g network, and international S20 FE 5g uses the other spectrums for 5g. There is no way a software flfash can change anyting, and I do not think that you can even flash software for thw wrong phone model, as odin check the BL version prior to flashing
