Question SD Native call recording & CSC (without rooting) - Samsung Galaxy S22 Ultra

Hi everyone,
Looking for some insight and more educated projections.
I'm in Canada, and our phones (SD) typically didn't get native call recording (or any recording allowed as a matter of fact after Pie was rolled out). I had to purchase a phone from overseas (EXY) and load it with IND CSC for it to work.
Now that India, along with Thailand and most of the other countries that have native call recording enabled, would that mean phones purchased in Canada could have it activated by changing CSC as well?
I understand this is new territory and has never happened before, but I'm just wondering what the thoughts are, or if anyone of you are influencers who already have your hands on a phone sold in the US/Canada can test it out?
Thanks

I've been using this for years. Probably over 10 years or something like that. No root required. https://forum.xda-developers.com/t/...cord-phone-calls-from-the-phone-line.1441643/

Yes. Works perfectly.

I used to flash Indonesia firmware through ODIN and native call recording was perfect in my S21 ultra EUR version. Now ,in S22 ultra with EUX csc (SM-S908B) Im wondering if we can flash Indonesia CSC because I don't know if it is another firmware belonging to SM-S908E versions of s22 ultra.

same for me.
BUT seems like indonesia now uses snapdragon (SM-908E) so (i think) it is not compatible with our eur (i'm in italy OXM) phone.
maybe one of the csc listed here
Enabling Native Call Recorder through CSC
Hello, Thanks to this XDA thread and some other sources I was able to compile a list of CSC codes that enable native call recording on Samsung ROMs. This is the list: Indonesia (XID) Vietnam (XXV) Ukraine (SEK) Israel (ILO) India (INS) Thailand...
forum.xda-developers.com
would be compatible, but at the moment Firja doesn't find anythink.
any suggestions?

Although it is very early as the phone didn't contribute all over the world, it seems that many of the countries which had csc with call recording permissions will take snapdragon version (SM-S908E). F.e . Indonesia, Thailand, India.
This is very sad for the rest of us who have exynos version..
Since now, even Samkey supports s22 ultra for changing CSC..
We will see..

Don't work in Exynos Variants (SM-S908B). Works only with the speakerphone

I'm wondering if it's just band differences for the different SD models because most if not all of the hardware should be the same across the board with the SD variants?
I guess we'll find out soon. I really prefer to get a phone locally in Canada as opposed to having a 908E shipped here...

The OP has an SD but yes good to know.

Hi to ALL
In a different section i ask question about csc with native call recording in Exynos edition.
This is the answer i get
Code:
BTB,BTE,EVR,MEO,MET,SFR,TSI,BKD,BOG,CAU,EUX,EUY,INS,MOB,MOT,MSR,NPL,O2C,PLS,PRT,SEK,SER,SIM,SKZ,SWC,TIM,TOP,VIP,CPW,WWA,WWC,WWD,ACR,AFG,AFR,DKR,ECT,EGY,FWD,ILO,ILP,KSA,LYS,MID,MWD,PAK,SLK,SRR,TUN,TUR,XFA,XFE,XFV,XSG
Among these Call recording available on following
BKD,EGY,ILO,INS,LYS,NPL,SEK,SLK,TUN
So there is a hope... when Samkey will support S22 eventually.
However the fact ,that Frija not funding any firmware yet is little disturbing.
we have to wait and see what the future will bring , hope les than 21 days.... so some of us can change mind and send it back.

Check what CSC got now. Maybe EUX - this is a multi-CSC so you don't have to install firmware, just change CSC with samkey.
To check the CSC dial a code on your device’s dialer itself. code to dial is *#1234#.

Wheeej, successfully changed to "SEK" on "EUX" and call recording is here!

Good news! So SEK (Ukraine) CSC has native call recording . Did you just flash the SEK firmware through ODIN (the SEK firmware can be found to sammobile)? Or you use Samkey (although Samkey says that s22 ultra is not supported yet). Please , let us know

just samkey :- )

I think that odin doesn't work because sek csc is included in oxm multi-csc so, using home_csc, simply has no effect

Too little, too late. Bootloader still locked tight. Useless.
Sent from my SM-G935W8 using XDA-Developers mobile app
Wow who's fault is it this time not the carriers
T-Mobile S7 Edge
Latest Update PD8
Eng Boot - System Custom
Knox 0x0
Question now is, is the new engroot method valid for the unlocked version (G935U). If so we may have a heck of a phone on our hands, easy to swap carriers and root (I know, Nexus / Nexi can do this too), sexy hardware and a hell of a camera.

I'm definitely wondering this as well. I'm grabbing the firmware that shipped with the device from SamFirm since the only web links I could find were behind rapidgator premium links, but not sure if I am feeling brave enough to try the engroot method yet.
Links for those curious: SamFirm Download
Not sure what to put in for Region Code? Look It up! For me, it was TMB for T-Mobile USA.
Use This app on your phone to check your PDA, CSC and Phone entries.
Here's what it looked like with all info entered and before hitting "Check Update". Then check the box for "Decrypt Automatically" and click "Download"

I don't know if you guys are aware of this but the G935U device uses the Snapdragon chip set instead of Exynos
which means that it cannot be rooted even if you have a S7 / S7 Edge G935U phone.
Also the G935U firmware will not flash/install properly on our Exynos G935F, it's the same idea as trying to flash
the tmobile, sprint, at&t or verizon Snapdragon firmware onto a Exynos G935F phone.
All the USA models of S7 / S7 Edge have the Snapdragon chip set which now also includes the G935U device.
Good luck,
Have a great day!

O RLY?
I know it's kind of breaking news, but that link is what munkypoo7 and I were talking about with engroot. Essentially the Snapdragon variants can use a signed Engineering boot file to acquire root. None of us were talking about the Exynos version (G935F), I'm pretty sure we were talking about SM-G935U being able to run the Engineering boot file that the other Snapdragon variants are able to run. I was just providing the steps for how to grab the stock firmware for the G935U as it doesn't seem to be publicly available yet.
So could we flash this via ODIN over the tmobile version?
I would be interested in enabling FM radio and adding EVS and video dialer from T-Mobile without loosing the bands. Can one advise which files from T-mobile to flash on this unlocked device? Thanks!
Anyone have the SM-G930U Firmware?
Use SamFirm tool for SM-G930U, Region code: TMB ?Auto)

I think so. One person indicated that they did so successfully. I am going to try it when I get some time...probably over the weekend.
Interesting.. so we don't need to buy one we can just flash the new software. That could be real cool.. I will wait for clarification

I did it on my Verizon S7 Edge today and had zero issues. It's way snappier than the Verizon firmware and battery life looks to be better (though it's only been a few hours).
The only thing to keep in mind is this firmware doesn't have *any* Verizon stuff on it, including advanced calling features (HD voice, etc.) or Verizon Visual Voicemail. Someone will probably figure out a way to shoehorn those features in, but as of right now, it's no-go. Despite that, I plan on using this firmware from now on. Being free of all the malware Verizon likes to load the phone with is very, very nice.

Getting 5G/VoLTE working on SM-N9860 (HK Note 20 Ultra 5G)

Hello,
I purchased a Note 20 Ultra 5G (SM-N9860) from Wonda Mobile because I wanted the Snapdragon processor.
My previous Samsung phones are XSG region (UAE), so after some research it seems that if I change the CSC code from TGY to XSG I could get those functionalities. Is this correct?
Any way to get those functionalities working? Preferably without root?

Question Galaxy S21+ does not auto-update

Guys
I am using SM-G996UZSAVZW here in Pakistan. This is a Verizon USA S21+ that is imported to Pakistan. My problem is, I have to manually update through ODIN every time there is an update. The software update option does not work within the about section of the phone. I am guessing It has something to do with not being bound to Verizon anymore. I have ended up updating every 3rd or 4th month to save myself the hassle of updating all the time.
Can someone tell me if there is a workaround so the OTA works from the phone itself? Maybe I can install ROM from another region that lets me auto-update? Any ideas would be appreciated.

The reason it's not working is because the CSC was modified. The XAA sales code goes with U1 firmware, not U. So basically, your phone doesn't think that you have valid firmware installed, since XAA is not one of the valid sales codes that goes with U firmware.
If you flash U1 firmware, that will likely solve the problem

Hello,
I have a quite similar situation with OP. My phone was importrd from the US to the Philippines and I don't get automatic OTA updates as well. I just update via Odin every 3 - 4 months and I always choose the G996U VZW firmwares.
I'm wondering if I can also flash a U1 firmware to activate OTA updates and what CSC should I choose? because I can't seem to see GCF as part of the firmware list for G996U1

Hello,
I flashed from G996U to G996U1 XAA version. Not sure if I did it right because, yes I see G996U1 on my software version but I don't see XAA btw this is the October update for XAA, and not sure If i should be receiving the Android 13 OTA update already.
Can you check sir if I did it right? Or is there anything that I should do differently?

You don't need to do anything differently. Android 13 has not yet been released for this model, and probably will not for at least 1 more month
Hello, I also face the same problem however mine is SM-G996B could you please advise whether the G996U1UES5CVI8 with CSC of XAS will be okay for me to use?
Thanks in advance for your reply.

Question XSG to EGY CSC swap using sim card

Hi all, I have s22 ultra and I bought it from UAE, the CSC is obviously XSG. However I'm using the device now in Egypt and I have an egyptian sim card, I want to change the CSC to EGY so that I can benefit from the options like native call recording which is still working in samsung devices in Egypt
My question is there a way to change the CSC with only using the sim card and without flashing or complicated ways?
I read before that If I have the sim card from certain countries I can change the CSC easily using factory reset, but I don't know the exact steps. So is this still working or is it blocked by Samsung?
You should try out the SamFW app to easely change csc (even without wipe). Backup your phone first of course. If you have test mode it will work. And it's totaly free .
Cheers !

The tip is 100% cut&paste from mine, health to all
And NO you can't always change back the csc because on some csc the test mode is blocked and then SamFW doesn't work. It relies on the test mode. Sometimes it doesn't work on the current csc, sometimes on the new csc. So it may not work on the current csc or it may not work on the new csc. So you can either get stuck on the current csc or you may be stuck on the new csc. If you have a friend with the new csc he can check if test mode works. But he must have the exact device like you. Also they may block the test mode on the new Android 13 that is coming. You never know !
Cheers.

Well this is very informative, thanks and I hope they never lock the test mode
@DaOldMan @Mem_0 thanks guys it worked like a charm, also for EGY the test mode still there so I guess this means I can go back to XSG of I want
One more question though please, I can still see in the service provider software version it's still EGY/EGY,EGY/XSG/XSG. What does those XSGs means and is there any meaning to their existence?

The last XSG can't be changed unless rooted. It's the "original csc" which is the csc where the device was manufactured. Don't remember now the one before last. But the two with the comma between them are the currently used CSC for Sim1 and Sim2 and they are Egy so you will now use Egy csc for the rom.
I have TNL on the end, can I change that to EUX with root? And than revert to stock to receive OTA's?

No need to change the last CSC code. Those last two are just for Samsung to know where you bought it. It doesn't affect updates or how the rom works. This is affected by the first 3 csc codes.
With root you can change everything. But as I said, it will do nothing for you.

Than why people with EUX/EUX/_/EUX get the update as soon as Samsung releases it and I have to wait 3 days, week or even longer?

Eux is not one csc. It also has associated country called "country ISO" like DBT for Germany, XEO for Poland or BTU for U.K! Which country ISO is yours? There is a guide how to change that btw (no idea if it works or if does any damage, also some say Alliance Shield doesn't work now):
Samsung Pay in german, CSC is EUX fix, 5 minutes
Hello This also works with most Samsung phones If anyone is struggling with Samsung pay being in German and has the csc being EUX, I know how to solve the issue and it only takes about 5 minutes. Basically the csc is set to EUX, which is the new European standard, but for some reason, Samsung...

Question Flashing Another Country/Region's Firmware?

One UI 5/Android 13 still hasn't hit my US (SM-A536U) phone yet. I'm leaning towards this being a no, but would it be possible to download the European firmware for Android 13 for the A53 and use it on my US phone? I'm hesitant because the European variant is SM-A536B and mine is SM-A536U. That would prevent this from working right (them having different model numbers)? I just want verification.
If this is possible, I would just download the Europe firmware from Sammobile and flash through Odin, right? Does the device need an unlocked bootloader? Can't do that on a US variant if so...might be out of luck. Anyways, thoughts?
**And I don't wanna hear crap about "just wait for the OTA update to hit your phone", I hate how there's no set date for when the OTA update will get to my phone (one of the only things I miss about owning an iPhone, everyone got the new update on the same day).**
I think it should work - they seem only to differ in network coverage, yours supports more bands:

Well, you know the usual disclaimer like bricking, dead kittens and WW3, right?

Oh of course! If this fails the world falls into total chaos.
You're talking about the network bands, right? I'd imagine that shouldn't have much of an impact when it comes down to firmware. I wonder if I'd see a decrease in network performance? Hmm things to consider. Thanks for the insight!
Anyone else have anything to add? I think I'm gonna try flashing later today with the European firmware.

You don't need unlocked bootloader and you don't lose warranty as long as you flash original firmware with Odin. However i'm not sure that you would be successful in flashing EUX firmware on A536U model, try not to brick your phone. It probably wont work anyway and wont let you go trough with flashing in Odin as it's different model.

When comparing the models, they seem to be nearly identical in terms of specs. Like mentioned above, the only difference comes from the network bands. I guess the US variant has more bands to it than the European variant. Now I'm second guessing lol. I have the firmware downloaded, just backing up my phone in case things go awry.

Yes, but it's not that simple. You would probably have to change CSC first, i think SamKey tool is used for that, if hardware is the same maybe it's a possibility.
Even at SamKey US model isn't supported yet. US/Verizon model uses different 4G and 5G band frequencies, you could do a lot more harm and i'm pretty sure phone wouldn't work.

Noted! Thanks for all the info.
I guess it would be safer to wait for the official OTA. At the end of the day I still want a working phone. Really not a fan of how Samsung releases its updates. Appreciate the help!

It would be best to wait, also i can tell you there's not much difference in OneUi 5. Visually is pretty much the same.
Would it be possible to do the same thing for the exynos model. I have a a536w model.

So Odin failed with re-partitioning part. The SM-A536E i have is a Dual Sim with 8GB RAM. Is that the issue, or do we use a patched odin in this case?

Yes many people have done it.
Just tried the Patched Odin as well and too it's failing. Could be the 8GB RAM being different somehow?
