Wow who's fault is it this time not the carriers
T-Mobile S7 Edge
Latest Update PD8
Eng Boot - System Custom

Question now is, is the new engroot method valid for the unlocked version (G935U). If so we may have a heck of a phone on our hands, easy to swap carriers and root (I know, Nexus / Nexi can do this too), sexy hardware and a hell of a camera.

I'm definitely wondering this as well. I'm grabbing the firmware that shipped with the device from SamFirm since the only web links I could find were behind rapidgator premium links, but not sure if I am feeling brave enough to try the engroot method yet.
Links for those curious: SamFirm Download
Not sure what to put in for Region Code? Look It up! For me, it was TMB for T-Mobile USA.
Use This app on your phone to check your PDA, CSC and Phone entries.
Here's what it looked like with all info entered and before hitting "Check Update". Then check the box for "Decrypt Automatically" and click "Download"

I don't know if you guys are aware of this but the G935U device uses the Snapdragon chip set instead of Exynos
which means that it cannot be rooted even if you have a S7 / S7 Edge G935U phone.
Also the G935U firmware will not flash/install properly on our Exynos G935F, it's the same idea as trying to flash
the tmobile, sprint, at&t or verizon Snapdragon firmware onto a Exynos G935F phone.
All the USA models of S7 / S7 Edge have the Snapdragon chip set which now also includes the G935U device.
Good luck,
Have a great day!

O RLY?
I know it's kind of breaking news, but that link is what munkypoo7 and I were talking about with engroot. Essentially the Snapdragon variants can use a signed Engineering boot file to acquire root. None of us were talking about the Exynos version (G935F), I'm pretty sure we were talking about SM-G935U being able to run the Engineering boot file that the other Snapdragon variants are able to run. I was just providing the steps for how to grab the stock firmware for the G935U as it doesn't seem to be publicly available yet.
So could we flash this via ODIN over the tmobile version?
I would be interested in enabling FM radio and adding EVS and video dialer from T-Mobile without loosing the bands. Can one advise which files from T-mobile to flash on this unlocked device? Thanks!
Anyone have the SM-G930U Firmware?
Use SamFirm tool for SM-G930U, Region code: TMB ?Auto)

I think so. One person indicated that they did so successfully. I am going to try it when I get some time...probably over the weekend.
Interesting.. so we don't need to buy one we can just flash the new software. That could be real cool.. I will wait for clarification

I did it on my Verizon S7 Edge today and had zero issues. It's way snappier than the Verizon firmware and battery life looks to be better (though it's only been a few hours).
The only thing to keep in mind is this firmware doesn't have *any* Verizon stuff on it, including advanced calling features (HD voice, etc.) or Verizon Visual Voicemail. Someone will probably figure out a way to shoehorn those features in, but as of right now, it's no-go. Despite that, I plan on using this firmware from now on. Being free of all the malware Verizon likes to load the phone with is very, very nice.

Is it possible to download the unlocked firmware onto a Verizon phone? Will the phone work and will it not void the warranty so that Samsung pay still works. I'm thinking of doing this so I can get back all the things that Verizon blocks on the phone.
If anyone knows if this is possible please let me know. As well as on how to do it.

Unlikely because odin will not allow you to flash firmware which does not match your devcie model.
Its like trying to flash Tmo firmware from a 955T to an AT&T device 955A.

Im honestly not sure yet...the naming nomenclature isnt that apparent yet.
955F is international
955W is Canada
955U is what usually denotes carrier free.
If they stick with what has been done over the last several generations then we would see T,A etc etc.
If all the US versions are U it may actually work! Unless there is another method odin can detect the carrier version.
We will have to wait and see i guess.

I flashed G935U firmware on my at&t G935A on my s7 edge and have been using it for months without a problem. The reason I did that was because I wanted no at&t bloatware. I used Odin to flash.
You can go to the s7 edge forum and see that many ppl have done it from vz to tmo or tmo to unlocked etc.

All US phones are the same hardware this year. Flashing different firmwares seems more convoluted than it was on the S7. A few have tried flashing from one to the other and it makes no difference - there is some speculation that everything particular to a phone is on the USERDATA partition, which isn't included in an ODIN flash.

yes there is a carrier line in the about phone menu. its interesting.... Makes you wounder what Samsung is up to.
I have been reading the forums for the past 2 hours and can't find a straight answer. Every thread gets sidetrack with different answers to different questions. I am just looking for the simple answer. I am looking at trading my wife's iPhone 7 for an S8+ AT&T but I have VZW. I would like it to work like it was originally from VZW. I heard Samsung Pay stops working if tampered and i really want to keep that. Any answers or suggestions?
As a regular Samsung pay user
I'd take that device to T-Mo. Let them pay it off, and get a T-Mo device.
Or sell and buy a T-Mobile Device.
If you screw this up Knox is gone on a very expensive device

Two things you could try.
1: try flashing the VZW firmware to see if it sticks.
2: flash it to the new 955U1 firmware and have the unlocked model.

All of the US carriers list different band frequencies for the s8+. Does the unlocked firmware have support for all these bands? Strange, I'm not sure if this has anything to do with it not originally I had flashed my phone to the Canadian firmware and followed all steps to get that working. Then after a few days I flashed over that with the G955U1 FW and everything is working fine. My gear VR also isn't working apparently. Not sure why but maybe it'll be fixed when the 955U1 is officially released.
For those looking to flash their devices immediately, U1 firmware is now available via Frija and other such tools that pull from Sammy's servers. Manual Entry is required, XAA sales code.

Standard MO for Samsung is to remove the Manual Entry requirement once the official launch date hits. Once that date comes, you should be able to pull it via Automatic.

Flashed and was able to enable WiFi-calling with US Mobile that I previously didn't have the option with July update. This is OneUI 4.1.1 btw, and the bottom of the screen is reserved for taskbar which is NOT enabled for Flip 4 so you get a black bar at the bottom in apps, just so you know.
This morning my flip4 finally received the September security patch along with firmware F721U1UEU1AVIA through OTA. My flip4 is an unlocked US phone, I'm on West coast. I haven't noticed any changes yet.
Download Samfw Frp Tool
Remove Sim card but keep wifi on
Change CSC to TMB
Check for update and install
Insert Sim card back and CSC will change automatically to XAA
NO DATA WILL BE LOST

Why are you looking for USA firmware, for a non USA phone? That's not how it works

I bought it overseas. I thought it would work by using my carrier stock firmware.

The only non USA devices that you can flash USA firmware to are Canadian devices
This is so awesome, i'm so glad that this was just recently posted. I just received my phone a couple days ago with S908U1UES2AVI5. I followed the steps from the OP and immediately was able to download and install the update. It is currently on the black screen with the android updating progressbar, waiting for this to finish.
Edit: Just to note that I have XAG
Edit2: Updated to S908U1UEU2BVJA
Thanks!
has anyone got November security update post ONE UI 5?

Download Samfw Frp Tool
Remove Sim card but keep wifi on
Change CSC to TMB
Check for update and install
Insert Sim card back and CSC will change automatically to XAA
NO DATA WILL BE LOST

Here u go.
But this version didn't worked for me, so I had to use older version.
I threw in a Tmobile simcard and the update went through, then after the install I swapped back my original Sim.

It's really easy. Enable USB debugging in developers mode, plug in phone to your PC and open FRP Tool, write TMB in CSC field and press change CSC. That's it
Ok, seems that it's time to stop waiting and just use what we have on hand here.
Im on factory unlocked S908U1, in Europe, with European SIM.
Build number: SP1A.210812.016.S908U1UES2AVI5
Service provider software version:
SAOMC_SM-S908U1_OYM_XAA_12_0028
XAA/XAA,ATT/ATT
Here I'm puzzled, because I've never used eSIM, and it shows ATT for some reason.
Question for more experienced members here:
Is there any problem for me to update with TMB? If it's all the same, why we are waiting so long updates for unlocked s22?

Change CSC to TMB and you'll get update. Don't forget to remove Sim before changing it
One UI 5/Android 13 still hasn't hit my US (SM-A536U) phone yet. I'm leaning towards this being a no, but would it be possible to download the European firmware for Android 13 for the A53 and use it on my US phone? I'm hesitant because the European variant is SM-A536B and mine is SM-A536U. That would prevent this from working right (them having different model numbers)? I just want verification.
If this is possible, I would just download the Europe firmware from Sammobile and flash through Odin, right? Does the device need an unlocked bootloader? Can't do that on a US variant if so...might be out of luck. Anyways, thoughts?
**And I don't wanna hear crap about "just wait for the OTA update to hit your phone", I hate how there's no set date for when the OTA update will get to my phone (one of the only things I miss about owning an iPhone, everyone got the new update on the same day).**
I think it should work - they seem only to differ in network coverage, yours supports more bands:

Well, you know the usual disclaimer like bricking, dead kittens and WW3, right?

Oh of course! If this fails the world falls into total chaos.
You're talking about the network bands, right? I'd imagine that shouldn't have much of an impact when it comes down to firmware. I wonder if I'd see a decrease in network performance? Hmm things to consider. Thanks for the insight!
Anyone else have anything to add? I think I'm gonna try flashing later today with the European firmware.

You don't need unlocked bootloader and you don't lose warranty as long as you flash original firmware with Odin. However i'm not sure that you would be successful in flashing EUX firmware on A536U model, try not to brick your phone. It probably wont work anyway and wont let you go trough with flashing in Odin as it's different model.

When comparing the models, they seem to be nearly identical in terms of specs. Like mentioned above, the only difference comes from the network bands. I guess the US variant has more bands to it than the European variant. Now I'm second guessing lol. I have the firmware downloaded, just backing up my phone in case things go awry.

Yes, but it's not that simple. You would probably have to change CSC first, i think SamKey tool is used for that, if hardware is the same maybe it's a possibility.
Even at SamKey US model isn't supported yet. US/Verizon model uses different 4G and 5G band frequencies, you could do a lot more harm and i'm pretty sure phone wouldn't work.

Noted! Thanks for all the info.
I guess it would be safer to wait for the official OTA. At the end of the day I still want a working phone. Really not a fan of how Samsung releases its updates. Appreciate the help!

It would be best to wait, also i can tell you there's not much difference in OneUi 5. Visually is pretty much the same.
Would it be possible to do the same thing for the exynos model. I have a a536w model.

All the A53 models use the same Exynos processor.
Hi Guys,
Would a conversion from a SM-A536E to SM-A536B be possible?

So Odin failed with re-partitioning part. The SM-A536E i have is a Dual Sim with 8GB RAM. Is that the issue, or do we use a patched odin in this case?

Yes many people have done it.
Just tried the Patched Odin as well and too it's failing. Could be the 8GB RAM being different somehow?
