[Q] Moto G Quick settings - 2 fingers only?

Hi Guys, I searched a lot in the Moto G forum looking for the answer to my question, but sadly I couldn't find it. What I want to know is why the Quick Settings menu in the Moto G (the tiles menu, the one with the owner picture, wi-fi, data, bluetooth toggles...) can only be accessed using two fingers? I ask that because I come from a Samsung Galaxy Mini and a Galaxy Wonder, both running CM10, and in them I can access the quick settings by both pulling the status bar with two fingers or simply pulling it from the right corner, what I think to be a faster and more natural option.
Can anyone confirm that in KitKat this annoyance has been fixed? Isn't it a standard jellybean feature? If it is, why would Motorola disable it?
Thanks in advance for anyone that can answer.
My Moto G is still on 4.3, but my Nexus 5 with KitKat needs 2 fingers aswell.

AOSP's quick settings menu doesn't support opening from the right corner in phone UI mode. It's weird. CM10 added that functionality.

That is just too bad then... will take sometime to get used to not having this feature and that button to close all recent apps. Hopefully we'll have CM on the G soon.... Thanks for answering.
It's an added feature that Cyanogen added in.

You just need to install Xposed framework and GravityBox (JB or KK depending on your MotoG rom) for this to work. It's one of the best plugin for xposed.
1st install Xposed, then GravityBox then reboot.
Go back to Xposed, select GravityBox module and then enable all the options you want (in that case your quick settings)
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1574401
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2316070
Agreed that Gravity Box, as usual, holds the solution to most "must be a better way while remaining stock" questions and I personally use the quick settings from the right option, along with resizing, ordering and adding more settings, BUT they're still available with one finger as standard via the settings/notifications toggle in the top right corner, just needs a swipe and then a press so not a great hardship if you don't want to root.
If you're going to root a virtually vanilla Android phone like this though, Xposed is the way to go nowadays as you effectively build a custom ROM to your exact spec, not a lot of reasons to install someone elses ROM that has as much bloat as Samsung put in theirs as nearly all the good bits are available as modules for Xposed.

Any idea why the toggles don't work on the quick settings panel? It seems to just take me to the settings page. How pointless is that?

Are you using stock software?
I like using the phone with just one hand (moto g) and defined a Nova action to access that menu. This is my screen now. The little hand scrolls down the notification bar and the home button opens the quick settings.

I am on stock rom and I tried that but it doesn't seem to work. I'll have another go when I'm at home, it's my mum's phone. That's also why I don't want to mess with rooting etc if I can avoid it.

New Vodaphone locked Moto G

Just got a new MotoG which is locked to Vodaphone network for the wife to go with my Retail all Moto G2.
My Moto G2 has about 20 default ringtones to choose from
Her Moto G only has 'Hangouts' for ringtone and 'Hangouts' for text tones, nothing else.
Is this correct/normal. If not, how do I get the default ringtones back?
Both are running 4.4.4, but hers appears to have a different 'skin' where you can swipe left in apps and get to widgets, on mine you can't.
Thanks
It's normal. It's probably a Google Play Edition variant of the Moto G.
You could unlock your bootloader, and install a custom rom which would contain more ring tones and such. Or you could use Zedge app, and download more tone.

It's not the play edition, It has the motorola assist app, moto camera app, and the moto startup screens.
I was just suprised it only had the 1 ringtone, when mine has so many (also not a play edition).

it was £90 in the closeout sales in October (reduced from £130 or £140)
Mine was £125 in Argos two weeks later (reduced from £150)
Spec's are the same except I get 5.0" same res screen, dual sims and a sd slot.

No idea then. Maybe they did it for a reason. Do you know what launcher the phone has on it?
The Vodafone branded firmware may have different ringtones and carrier bloatware and so on

They both have the google now / ask google launcher home screen I think.
Although mine has just the screens you need (2 in my case) and small dots to indicate which you are one. it auto expands to a third when you add more apps.
hers looks the same except the ins't the small dots at the bottom of the screen, but a small line/bar shich moved left right depends in which of the 5 (fixed) home screens you are on.

Then her phone has a different launcher. Which is why she can swipe to the widgets. You can install a custom launcher if you want. I personally use Nova Launcher. You can swipe to the widgets on it. And it has themes you can use.

Check your system version in about phone. It will most likely have "Vodafone" in it. You'd have to flash a retail firmware to get exactly the same experience as the other phone

LG G4 Lockscreen

The new g4 lock screen have new features like reading all notifications by sliding down
There any chance that someone will upload a port of the g4 lockscreensetting apk or something that can help us bring the g4 lockscreen to the g3 ?
thanks
well, i guess its been on Android lollipop for G3 as well! i have this feature!
If you got 2 new massages you will have to enter the app to see it but in the aosp android you can swipe down and see the full notification

No you dont you are confused.
The current G3 Lollipop lockscreen you can CLICK on a notification but then you have to unlock/swipe to go to it, kinda counter intuitive.
Hope they fix it in the next update and make it like AOSP.

Lockscreen isn't an application its software & framework I'm pretty sure.
If you swipe down on the notification you can read it.

i think what OP means is sliding down from the list of notifications from lockscreen. Like in AOSP lollipop you can slide down on lockscreen to show all your notifications but on stock g3 you have to click on the "more" button and unlock before seeing more than 2 notifications
Just checked on the wife's Korean g4. Sliding down on any notification, expands all notifications. Then you can scroll up and down to read them all.

any solution like LG Qmemo and Qslide on Samsung S6 ?

hi guys, I just switch my phone from LG Gpro to Samsung S6.
I am wondering if there is any function like Qmemo and Qslide on S6,
because I've already used my Gpro for almost 2 years , and they are qutie convenient.
thanks for your help
Hi memeqxda,
The closest you will come to these functions in "samsung world" is:
Qmemo -> S Memo
Qslide -> Pop-Up Play
Hope this helps

Unlike LG limited stock apps by qslide, many 3rd apps are supported in the S6 pop-up view! Swipe from top right of your screen to center to activate!

what is "pop-up play" is that the same as pop-up view?
Here's how to use multi winder and pop-up view: http://www.naldotech.com/how-to-use-pop-up-view-multi-window-galaxy-s6/
Thanks again for your answer!
I've tried S Memo and pop-up view, and found out that they are too versatile
Lots of 3rd party apps are supported for pop-up view, but i just need a calculator !
as for the S memo, i think i can edit the pic after capturing screen with gesture. But it's not as convenient as Qmemo.
Despite those little difference in ROM, S6 is still a nice phone!

I agree. Coming from a LG G2 and G3, I loved the Qapps. Being able to have access to a small popup of the dialer, calendar, and calculator was awesome.
Is there an app that will launch the "popped up" apps from the notification window?

GUIDE: V20 Tips and Tricks

I'm writing this guide to help V20 users get the most out of their new phone immediately. I'll update the OP and welcome replies with other tips or tricks that I'll be happy to include as well.
1) Change the theme
This is a pretty easy one and changes the stock LG white setup to what I think is a better black setup. Perhaps they'll have more options soon. It looks more "tech" and if you're reading this on XDA I presume this is more of your flavor as well.
Goto Settings> Display> Theme> Choose Black Bold
2) Enable Ok Google detection even when display is off
Why? Alternate way to wake, unlock, and launch apps even when phone display is off. I find this much more handy than even using the fingerprint sensor
Goto the Google app>Open menu (upper left)>Settings>Voice>"Ok Google" detection>Always on>Trusted voice. Make sure you train the "Ok Google' Voice model
3) Add more fingerprints to unlock and security
Why? You'll find out when you switch hands (to film a video of the device perhaps) and can't unlock your phone with the pointer finger of your other hand.
Settings>General>(Privacy)Fingerprints & Security>(General)Fingerprints>Unlock(Ok)>+ Add fingerprint
4) Camera enhancements
The camera app defaults to a 12 MP pic vs. taking advantage of the full 16 MP it has. Let's change that
Open the settings(the gear icon)>Photo size>4:3(16MP)
While your in there I'd also change the HDR setting
Open the settings(the gear icon)>(General) HDR>Auto

For Samsung refugees, I just discovered you can rearrange the home row buttons so the back button is on the right. You find the option under Display/Home touch buttons.

I had a G4 before I jumped to the Galaxy S7 edge. I just jumped to the V20 and going back to back being on the left hand side felt so natural. I didn't even have to relearn it or anything. I miss having the back button on the opposite side of the phone. I'm so happy to be back.
You can use the flash for alerts , sometimes I put my phone face down, seems to work. Just doesnt keep flashing though.

I went into 'Settings' and disabled everything I could there except what I only need. Have had zero issues after and incredible battery life.
Also, to save mobile data usage I disabled background data on everything but Gmail. After 6GB my device slows you see. Let me find out where that setting is for you.
Okay, go into 'Networks' 'Mobile Data' , click on the app and restrict anything you don't need to keep updated when it's not running like Gmail. Only two I have are Gmail and Swype so Swype saves my keyboard new word list. I have a potty mouth and tons of terrible words I add not found in the dictionary and stuff.
I wish you can have a pop-up for incoming calls during navigation like Samsung's Galaxy line.

I don't yet have mine in hand, but knowing about bringing back the app drawer seems rather important! This may be something I'll easily find with the device in hand, but I'm glad I know about this pitfall in advance.
EDIT:
After some looking around at this forum, this looks to be an important tip for people wanting to use IR applications. LG's IR API is already a PITA, yet now LG feels they need to make writing IR applications even more of a pain!
