Unlocking Bootloader - "Failed to get unlock data." - Moto G 5G Questions & Answers

Hey all,
I am trying to unlock my bootloader for my Motorola One 5g Ace using the instructions on Motoroala's website.
https://motorola-global-portal.custhelp.com/app/standalone%2Fbootloader%2Funlock-your-device-b
I am following all the instructions am getting the following error message "Failed to get unlock data." after running the terminal command "fastboot oem get_unlock_data". Is there anyway to solve this?
My phone data:
Model Number: XT2113-2
Hardware Version: pvt
Software Variant: t
Software Channel: T-Mobile
Quick Build Number QZKS30.Q4-40-95-4
I have done a fresh factory reset and both OEM unlocking and USB debugging are enabled.

Have you enabled developer options and turned on allow bootloader to be unlocked and usb debugging in there

Thread 'Rooting the Motorola one 5G ace' https://forum.xda-developers.com/t/rooting-the-motorola-one-5g-ace.4252313/ follow that guide it's for rooting but it has how to unlock the bootloader in there

Yes I have allowed the bootloader to be unlocked by enabling OEM unlocking in the developer settings and I have also enabled usb debugging. I followed that guide and everything worked up until step 10: Run 'fastboot oem get_unlock_data' where I get the following:
c:\platform-tools>fastboot oem get_unlock_data
(bootloader) Failed to get unlock data.
OKAY [ 0.008s]
Finished. Total time: 0.008s

I don't know then maybe someone who use's windows can help you

It should be good
List of CIDs

@LinearMotion did you ever figure this out? I have the same exact problem.

Some one sold you a phone that had a relocked bootloader. As far as I know, this cannot make fixed outside of a Motorola service center (if even then). The CID should not be 0.

If you have AL00 and Chinese ROM, your phone doesn't have oem unlock option in Developer settings. This option is on world ROMs only.
Just do command to unlock and you will be unlocked.
Has anyone figured this problem out? I'm in the same situation of wanting to rebrand to international, but can't get the bootloader unlock command to work. Thanks

What does 'fastboot devices' say?
If ur using Windows 10 try 8 or 7.
And you can enter in dialer*#*#2846579#*#* and change the usb setting to manufacture mode.
I had rebranded the chinese version (AL00)to international (L29 C636). OEM unlocking of developer option is absent on the chinese version. It is ok just to enable USB debugging to unlock bootloader. I have rebranded again back to original chinese version at last, because I like that "Screen Lock" icon on the chinese version.
Thanks all
i was able to unlock
Now i will try to rebrand from chinese to international

Hi, What did you do to allow you to unlock the Bootloader. I want to rebrand too, but having the same problems that you had. Thanks
I have successfully rebranded from MHA-AL00 to MHA-L29C432, but had a brick between the two with Unlocked Bootloader but Locked FRP...
If your phone can still boot but the "Enable OEM Unlock" setting is greyed out in developper options and is "FRP Locked", try "fastboot OEM relock yourcode" with you unlock code, it works instead of "lock" command which is not allowed, that way it would relock the bootloader and factory reset the phone, and after that you will be able to "Enable OEM Unlock", and unlock your bootloader again if you want to.
If your phone can't boot and is FRP Lock BUT you have TWRP working (hooray) simply try the manual rebrand by flashing manually no check recoveries and commands from the sh script, if not then try the Redlotus manual HiSuite flash which worked for me.

Read the previous page,no need to enable it for Chinese firmware.
I'm right at bottom of this ladder. Asked Huawei customer service for assistance, here is their reply;
Regarding your query, because the device is Chinese, it cannot benefit from the same features as an European one does. For example, Huawei Chinese devices do not have Google Play Store. Customers from China have a special website from where they download third party applications. Also, Chinese devices differ in both software and hardware specifications from the European ones, meaning that updates, boot loader unlock codes and many other features cannot be applied for the Chinese ones. We are sorry for the situation but the handset has been designed for the Chinese market and it cannot be modified.
True or false? Where do I begin please.

Interesting. The gf bought one from Sprint Saturday and the bootloader is locked.
Those having issues with adb or bootloader, may need to update drivers for such
Figured out my issue no worries
Just in case you were wondering, relocking your bootloader WILL wipe your device.
I updated my drivers and it is still not recognizing it in fastboot. Any suggestions?

Does anyone have any advice for getting the phone recognized. I installed android studio and google usb drivers. I've unlocked bootloaders on onepluses before but nothing happens when I type fastboot devices, and it stays at "waiting for any device" when I try the unlock command.

updating the drivers manually like in your thread did the trick. Thanks!
In case anyone is trying this on a Mac, you need
1: The latest SDK Platform-tools for Mac
2: cd to platform-tools in terminal and enter: ./adb devices
(I couldn't get my Mac to discover my phone at all in ADB until I used ./ before the command, which I never had to do with other phones.
I was able to discover the device in fastboot without these steps and ./, but only when entering the vendor id, and the unlock command failed with or without the id.)
3: Once you see your ADB device show in terminal, you should get the prompt on your PH1 screen to allow your Mac to access it.
4: You should now be able to reboot to fastboot from the terminal using: ./adb reboot bootloader
5: Check device again: ./fastboot devices
6:. Lastly: ./fastboot flashing unlock (vendor id was not needed for me)
Hope this helps.

[Guide] Unlocking the bootloader

The Nokia 7.2, surprisingly, comes with an unlockable bootloader. The information is shared by TechMesto and I am just re-using it to create this guide.
Notes:
Unlocking the bootloader may void the device's warranty.
All existing data on the device will be erased.
To unlock:
Update: Nokia has disabled the unlock ability with the December MR. You can only unlock if you downgrade your phone to an old release first. You can get it at Nokia Care or by buying remote flashing services.
Before you start: Make sure that you have platform-tools downloaded on your PC. You need to open a CMD or Terminal window in the folder where you have saved the platform-tools, unless you have installed them system-wide.
• First of all, enable Developer Options by tapping 7 times on BuildID in "About phone".
• Then go to developer options and enable OEM Unlocking option.
• Now reboot the phone into bootloader/fastboot mode. You can use the adb command:
Code:
adb reboot-bootloader
or else use hardware keys to reboot to bootloader mode.
• Make sure the phone is detected in fastboot mode. Then send the OEM unlocking command:
Code:
fastboot flashing unlock
• Confirm the unlock on the phone.

• That's it!
You can also do the unlock_critical if you plan to flash the bootloader.
Reserved for future use.
I am on a Nokia 7.2, a dual-sim variant with 6GB RAM and 128 GB ROM. The model name is TA-1196.
I am currently having issues with this method, whenever I try to flash unlock, prior to the V1.160 update, the fastboot will report back saying "Write to device failed (unknown error)".
If anyone would enlighten me I would be happy to hear.
Edit: Currently on build number 00WW_1_060
Edit 2.0: Works after updating to build 00WW_1_160. Seems Nokia enabled this method by mistake. Who knows?

That's okay, but the output you got wasn't appropriate for that command. If the unlock support isn't allowed it will say "flashing unlock is not allowed". Or in case the bootloader isn't including that command at all, it will say "Unknown command".
I might be wrong too, but your output isn't something i've seen on any of the phones i've owned, whether unlockable or non-unlockable. That output is what I usually get when the command is not proper, or the drivers aren't properly installed or the fastboot device isn't properly responding. Rebooting to bootloader should usually fix it. At least it does on other Nokia and Sharp phones.

Can confirm that it is still unlockable. Got 2 of them today from Argos in the UK (Scotland). They are on 00WW_1_130 with security batch from 2019/08/05.
Only thing I had to do was enable internet and reboot to get the option to stop being greyed out.

Think we may be out of luck then, but one last suggestion. I noticed when reading through the thread on user indicated they were using "flash" instead of "flashing" when trying to unlock the bootloader.
I know I personally did the same thing at first. Did anyone confirm that "flashing" was used?
I know the older methods used flash. Just asking.

Which CID does it have?
Code:
(bootloader) cid: 0x00xx
use getvar all to find CID
Code:
fastboot getvar all
Just need to update to latest OTA and wait a bit.
Please update the device to the latest version and then initialize it.
You can then proceed with the setup online to activate it and get oem unlock working.

No matter how long you wait, the option will not be activated.

What do you mean with "set it up again"? I did a factory reset, but that doesn't help. (I didn't expect it to help, because what happens then is the same as what happens after you unbox it and turn it on.)

After a factory reset, you have to go through the setup to reactivate wifi if you don't have a sim card in it and reenable Dev Options.
I did that. So I still have to wait several days until the OEM unlock option is enabled?

First, update your system to the latest version.
Then do a factory reset.
Be sure to connect to wifi during the factory reset.

I did update to the latest versiion, although I wonder why that is needed is you are going to do a factory after that.
Before and after the factory reset I hada working wifi connection.
The OEM unlock option is still unavailable. So I think I have to wait a few days, as others have mentioned.
It is strange, I never had to do that with my previous Moto's.

It's the new normal.
RetLA and a few others have had to wait, but now it seems to be every software channel.
After factory reset, connect to the internet.

Question P11 [Solved] [HELP] Bootloader unlock, Unknown Command

Hi! I'm trying to unlock the bootloader of my Lenovo Tab P11 (TB-J606F, Latest software), but none of the command (without fastboot devices) works...
I've tried :
fastboot oem unlock
fastboot flashing unlock
Also, I got sn.img from zui website but it also didn't work.
When I type
fastboot flash unlock sn.img
(Which is based on their description)

I've tried both my laptop and desktop (which is all AMD-based) but nothing worked.
Is their any tips for me?
Thanks
I have Lenovo TB-J706F, maybe it's same.
I successfully installed TWRP and root.
Do you try fastboot oem unlock-go ?
Please read this and this.

On my tablet the process failed, I don't know at what point.
I think because of the step of flashing vbmeta (I think) and now I can not even enter TWRP, it does not start Android and neither recovery, it only returns to fastboot every time it turns on.
Do you know any solution to this?
I have already tried to reinstall the OS with the Lenovo tool

Well, I was able to fix it by making various combinations and attempts in the Qualcomm QFIL application until it answered correctly
Now I rooted without flashing vbmeta.img and the file no-verity-opt-encrypt.zip and it still works (those files gave me a bad feeling)
Congratulations! I didn't get it right the first time either.
Install TWRP, set up your tablet, make a copy in TWRP. Note that TWRP does not make a copy of the Storage folder - pictures, videos, music. But it makes and restores a copy of everything else perfectly. I had a chance to see this yesterday.

Thanks. Do you know what the firmware version is? Mine is 210421 but still doesn't work.
If it has lower version, I'll try downgrade.
