General My phone is locked to AT&T (unpaid balance) - Moto G Stylus 5G

Bought it on eBay. Does anyone know of a way to work around the problem? I want to use the phone in Mexico. Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks

Return to seller...
or pay off AT&T.

Root - make rw - debloat - backup - "factory reset" -tinyfb reset efs modem etc - restore super - setup as new with new sim card? I might try this...

AT&T is notorious about collections. It's a matter of principle with them.
They will likely blacklist the imei...
Easiest thing to do is return the phone to the seller and get a full refund. Their bad.

Moto will provide an unlock code for AT&T-bought Moto G 5 Stylus 5G?

Are you sure you weren't talking about network unlock? I am talking about bootloader unlock codes.

As you can see here someone suggesting rooting this phone so it must be possible with AT&t otherwise they wouldn't suggest this right?

That's not what this thread is about... way off topic. AT&T doesn't control the bootloader.

Are you suggesting that rooting this phone and doing the steps outlined above are not a possible solution to the OP's question?

Stuck with network lock??

Um I flashed my h950 from eBay onto the pr5.1.1 that everyone has recommended. Now trying to activate my T-Mobile sim. Sim inserts fine, but it says network locked. Um now what? Wasn't this thing unlocked out of the box??
Sorry, very green at this, since I am coming from nexus devices...
If the phone wasnt unlocked since it was on 5.0.1 ATT, then it shouldnt be unlocked when you flash it to H950PR. You´ll have to order an unlock code and enter it.
Thats just a quick guess btw. Did you try your tmo sim on it when it was stock att_?

Sometimes the code is sent thru ebay messages or included in the box. Contact the seller and ask for code.
That way you dont have to spend on buying it.
The problem is that there is no password prompt...so I cannot even punch it in. Anyone know how to ilicit the password prompt??

Try 2945*950#
select network lock or service provider lock
to see if it asks for code?
No prompt...I got imei easily with the command...but this combo doesn't have any prompt

Do you mean you want to unlock the bootloader so that you can get root access and install custom ROMs? If yes, you can follow Google's instructions here: https://developers.google.com/android/images
Take note that unlocking the bootloader will wipe all data from the device.

If the phone is SIM-locked to EE, then you have to contact EE to get your phone unlocked. Basically, you have to let the contract expire, then they will agree to unlock it. If you bought the phone used (not from EE), then you should contact them to make sure the phone's IMEI is not blacklisted.

Do i lose unlock after convercion
How do you back up the T-Mo modems without going thru the T-Mo bootloader token unlock? I want to try going back to the T-Mo modems to see if they resolve the issues, and then back them up when to reflash when I go back to the EU load.
Thanks!

I'm not talking about flashing. Just backing up.
I was hoping to get temporary root with a Maoism boot image, back up the modems, and then convert back to European

Yeah, that's it. I guess I'll have to try it and see. If I still end up with problems, I'm going to have to figure out how to debloat it.

No dice. Won't boot to another image unless it's unlocked.
Waiting for the T-Mo token.
avid_droid said:
Yep. Any critical partition flashing has to be unlocked. There is no other way around it. I've bricked my 9,the one before this one,by flashing the wrong modem on it. Tried MSM and it locked it and I couldn't do anything else to it,meaning flashing anything through bootloader or fastbootd.

Well, I guess it ended up not mattering much in the end. At least for what I was trying to do.
I'm finding T-Mo's service to just be complete crap, and I've determined it's not the phone. I moved 8 lines over from AT&T. Half were BYOD (all unlocked AT&T Samsung devices, and my son's unlocked OP9), and the other half were Samsung and OP phones bought from T-Mo. Everyone's experiencing bad call quality and coverage issues. Both my family and in-laws live within a mile from known T-Mo towers where we live. I live in a major metro area, my in-laws in a rural area. My parents live in a medium sized city. It's gotten unbearable, and at times, my wife and I have had to resort to texting due to the call quality just being so bad. Cutting out, garbled, etc.
In-laws also have T-Mo's home internet and are having issues with that.
I don't get it despite everything good I've read about T-Mo. None of us had these issues with AT&T.
I'm going to try to work it out with T-Mo, but at least for the time being, I'll just go back to the European ROM. There's no difference in the call quality anyway, and at least there I have root again.
If i flash the T-mo firmware to a global model, will I be unable to unlock the bootloader simply with the adb command, or will I have to go through all the hoops as if I bought the phone directly from t-mobile?

Yes, but the phone has to be SIM unlocked first.

I'm gonna use the T-Mobile sim card on a global version of the phone. So theoretically the phone would already have been sim unlocked out of the box. What I'm asking is, if i choose to use the T-Mobile msm on the unlocked global model, will it carrier lock me in? If not that means all i have to do is go to developer options and use the unlock command, right?

No that won't happen to you. You should still be SIM unlocked as flashing software doesn't deal with SIM Locking but it May Lock the Bootloader that I am not Sure of

I tried the installation, but didn't fix my problem. Nothing seem to change, i didn't even loose any data.
So i decided to retry, but this time i added the userdate file from the downloaded fireware, which made me loose all my data and didn't fix the problem.

Some phones don't ask for it. The unlocking company usually gives you a code to dial in dialer to submit the code.
Just wandering, is it possible for me to move from SM-A716U to SM-A716U1 (Factory Unlocked)?

Oh

Question Is Pixel 6a SIM unlockable on A13?

New to all of this. I used to jailbreak, unlock iPhones but am unfamiliar with this side of things. I was able to remove the passcode and Google account off the Pixel 6a which was on A13 and updated to the most recent patch (Let me know if you need instructions as that was not easy for me to find). But now I found that it is locked to AT&T which I do not have. Is it possible?
You may have bought a locked model by accident

I'd be interested to learn how you did this. I'm assuming a factory reset via recovery isn't enough?
If you have bought a carrier locked device, you may need to contact them to see if it can be unlocked
