Question Does OOS 12 fix the garbage BT? - OnePlus 9

Hey all,
My 9's Bluetooth is complete garbage in my car. Constantly garbled and drops the connection often. It's pretty much unusable.
It works fine with my OP earbuds though.
Does OOS 12 fix the BT quality and also improve reception and call quality?
Thanks!

Are you converted or on stock?

I tried both. Both sucked equally.
Didn't have this problem on my 7 Pro.

The same happened to me. Try StagOS. It'll work.

That's weird - my OP9 has the best Bluetooth connection of any phone I've used. The range is insane and connection rock solid. Staying on oos11 because magisk hide is gone with android 12.

Magiskhide is still there. I've used oos12 with magisk v23 and no issue. Bluetooth is good if you remain on stock. A conversion from TMO to global completely irritates me with me Bluetooth range (about 2ft) and phone calls on a car stereo headunit.

Good point. I bought mine directly from OnePlus, so it's the global, not tmo version.

That may be my issue. I converted from T-Mo. The issue is consistent on both of our Hondas.
It works a lot better on the Ford though.
Still, even trying to go back to stock T-Mo with MSM didn't help it.

Yeah, music's great. Just the calls are garbage. Works fine with the Z buds too.
We have a 15 Civic, 14 Odyssey and a 15 Ford Escape.
I've always seemed to have BT issues on calls with any cars I owned. With different phone brands too.
Wife has a Samsung phone and has no issues with at all with the van. Go figure.

Sorry typo. Conversion from T-Mobile to global A11 has Bluetooth call issues on stereo head units

Wonder if it'll be different on the European load.
I rented a Nissan Sentra this week while I was on a trip and still had problem. BT had some call issues, and Android Auto just refused to work. It would flap - connect, work for about 15-20 seconds, disconnect, then rinse and repeat. It was really annoying.
Gotta wonder WTF T-Mo did to this phone to make it different enough to have problems compared to the other models.
I'd sell it if it had actually held it's value. Resale price dropped on this one really quickly.
Almost wondering if I should go back to my 7 Pro.

I've never had nothing but perfect experiences with Bluetooth on stock rom. For me the issue is with conversion to global and custom roms. I know what you mean resale value doesn't hold because my device is fairly new and won't even sell for 400

Does anyone disagree with this pic?

Same here with Crdroid and Jabra Motion and Jabra Stealth but not in Volvo V60, Peltor Protac XPI or Jabra Elite 75T. No issues on OOS with A11 though. CN version with global.

no one else experiences this? Should I do a return with Google under warranty as a hardware issue?
I recently picked up a pair of wireless headphones (http://www.amazon.com/Soundpeats-Bluetooth-Lightweight-Headphones-microphone/dp/B00LP6CFEC). They work well about 90% of the time. On my half mile walk home they do get random skips. On the train today, it got an "out of range" issue and I havent been able to re-pair it since. I also have a bluetooth shower speaker that I have had virtually 0 issues with. Not sure if this helps you at all, but I can't tell if its an issue with the headphones or my phone.

Oddly I was working on my GF's house last week and the guy helping had a "something"candy BT speaker. We paired and ZERO issues with pandora ALL DAY. It seems to be only headphones.
Out of the case I get minimal skips but once its in that clip it skips every 3 seconds. So weird. Sucks cause when Im running I hate holding my phone in my hand.
Wonder if its a channel thing or what
so with more researching I came across a few things to try.
one I set my wifi to 2.4ghz only and left it on using BT
next I set my kernel to conservative.
I actually worked out at lunch today with zero skips on my headsets.
Hopefully this proves continuous
scratch that didnt work.
Does ANYONE use BT headphones that DONT skip. At this point Im willing to buy another pair.
I have 2 sets of BT headphones I use daily and both cause random skipping for me:
Sony MDR-XB950BT/B - http://store.sony.com/extra-bass-bl...XB950BT/B/cat-27-catid-All-Headphones-Earbuds
Jaybird Bluebuds X - http://www.jaybirdsport.com/bluebuds-x-bluetooth-headphones/
Both of these headphones skip mainly while I'm walking and my phone is "floating" in my pants pocket. If I hold my phone in place in the pocket, or I hold the phone in my hand the skipping stops immediately.
My phone is running the latest stock 5.1 factory image and is rooted. Other than that there are no changes.
I haven't gone through a full test process to determine what's causing it, but I've got some thoughts.
All of my listening is streamed through Google Music, so that'll be one of my first checks. I have yet to put some MP3s on my phone and test locally.
As an aside I also have the Outdoor Tech Turtle Shell 2.0 speaker (http://www.outdoortechnology.com/Shop/Turtle-Shell/) and find that it doesn't come close to the claimed 32 foot range. If my phone is more than 5 feet away I start to hear random skips even when the phone is stationary.
I have temporary success when I forget the connection and repair, but the skips always seem to come back.
I've had issues with headphones in the past. Although the issue could be partly caused by the radio in the phone, in my own experience its usually caused by your body literally getting in the way of the signal. I know this sounds silly but try putting the phone on the other side of your body or closer to the headphones. It might not be a real solution but I never solved my problems either other then by getting new headphones.

Yes I was wearing a sweater and jogging a couple weeks ago and had the phone clipped to my chest. No skips. As the other guy states if I hold my phone still it seems fine but as soon as its free clipped to my waist or pocket its skip city.
Very poor on google part honestly.
Ive tried everything to get this to work as the skipping is out of control and horribly annoying when in a work out rythm.
It does it on local music, pandora, play music online etc etc. there is no win here and honestly google needs to address this bug cause it seems to be accross multiple phones.
I went to the Gym yesterday and my QY7's had no skipping at all the entire time. Walking to the train this morning, I had light skipping. While on the train, no skipping at all. It really does seem to be body related interference. Maybe the bluetooth radio in the N5 is weak or something?
well here I am again.
The nexus 5 is bluetooth 4.0 a2dp (the letters I guess are just for sound alone not protocol)
I found a pair of headphones close (and these were CHEAP) to 4.0 like 3.6 or something.
They seemed to work great even when running.
My guess is when buying a set of headphones is to make sure they are SERIOUSLY close to and compatible with the 4.0 in the nexus.
My first were like 2."something" and the others I think were higher.
Im going to try and find a pair that are exactly 4.0 a2dp and see if there are issues.

I had before the Sony SBH-20, they were pure crap and bad quality (one of the buds broke after a year), the mic was low volume and the audio quality very bad but I used mostly to do voip calls, using the Sony's in the other end they ever had to make some effort to hear me because of the low volume of my voice, I think the mic is a normal Sony issue because I have another cable headset for using with my computer that has low mic volume too. (I will never buy again something from Sony that has a mic )
Now with this Skullcandy Buds (bluetooth version 4.0) I can say wow... is night and day compared with the Sony's, I use this headsets paired with a Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge+ and I use to do voip and normal call, to hear the internet radio and music when I'm on my bicycle, my experience today was great. Talking when I'm on the bicycle with some wind, my voice was really clear and loud on the other end (I did a test with Skype's Echo Test Service to check by myself), the noise cancelling worked great with the wind and mic sensitivity is fantastic.
I was a bit worried about the neck collar because I bought them online without testing them first, it is very comfortable and the buds with the neck collar are lightweight, is like not having anything on your neck, I was very surprised how comfortable they are and when using them riding my bicycle were great, they don't even move because they have a small rubber connector at the level of the curves of the cable, looking at the front they form an "X", so is impossible for them to slip away. Is the first day I have them but I feel them they will be comfortable for the day to day use when I'm working.
I'm not an audiophile but the audio quality is great, I really like them, they have good bass, middles and maybe not too much highs, great quality for hearing mp3 when you are running or in a bicycle.
They have 3 buttons that work perfectly with Android 5.1.1: Volume control, start/stop and if you long press some seconds the "+" button or "-" button you advance tracks or go previous tracks (I used the app Jetaudio) that works perfect on Android.
When I hear the music with my cellphone, I take my phone at the level of my waist, so there is some distance to my neck where the buds are
and the bluetooth signal was ever perfect, no glitches like I had with the crap Sony's.
About the battery in the description is say it last 6 hours, I have not had the opportunity to test this now because they are in the first charge and don't know how long does it take to full charge them, later I will update this information.
I don't know how this buds will last so later if I have any issue I will update this review, but the build quality looks very good.
I think till today they are by long the best bluetooth headset in the market.
They have noise cancellation ? How to turn it on? Tks
Use these right now, and I can totally vouch for this great pair of earphones. Although IDK if this is my phone or the earphones but it takes a lot of time for the device to be detected if not paired. Otherwise its perfect.
I have them as well and I like them a lot but I don't really care for the neckband too much I was looking into getting some beats powerbeats2 since they don't have anything like that.

Hi. Will it works with sony z series phone.? Did anyone tried..?
---------- Post added at 01:15 PM ---------- Previous post was at 01:14 PM ----------
Hows is the bass ? Is this good for extream bass lovers.?
Skullcandy Smokin' Buds 2:
Great bass, decent mids, somewhat muddy highs.
For sub $50 these are a great purchase.
In order to use features like voice dialing, you must pair the headset with the phone, and then authorize the headset as a trusted device.
As a trusted device, the headset can make and accept calls, and wake the lock screen.
On the s6 try using the Bluetooth under settings, not the bluetooth under the dropdown menu. They never showed up on my s6 until i did this, it then found them and they seem to work well.
if you have problems with connecting to device, just dont forget that you have to hold the middle button on the skullcandy to enter pairing mode then the red and bue light going to repeatably flash then you can connect.
Mine is getting a purple LED light and won't give me the option to do the Bluetooth sink routine! Can anyone help?

Sound levels, pre and post update

Generically looking at the windows volume mixer graph, it looks about a 20% reduction in volume. I personally would really like some communication from Razer on this matter.
It's not going to stop me getting a 2nd razer phone, because they're freakin uber! But I'm concerned to hear if it was botched code, hardware issues with the speaker manufacturer, of if it's a temporary mask of the problem.
I have the 2nd phone you see there, and it's perfect.
Here's the sound comparison, pre vs post update, Atmos on, all 3 ehancements on, custom1, maxxed eq
https://youtu.be/oog8apxoC58
Not sure what to say about this. :|
Same here,I noticed a drop in overall volume post-update,but,I really don't mind too much.
I'm going to use the phone as I normally would & the fact that Razer is proceeding w/RMAs w/o hesitation for those here having issues gives me a measure of assurance they'll do right by us.
For my use,I'm good w/the post-update volume levels,but,w/the Dolby Atmos,I'm not getting a very rich sound (needs a bit more bass, any settings recommendations are welcome). The Dolby demo shows the potential,so,I suppose quality of content plays an equally large part of the experience.
I don't use the speakers a whole lot, but,it's nice to have the dual front-firing ones w/decent sound: together w/the display quality & overall performance, well worth the price of admission. :good:
I really hope it's temporary, the sound levels were great for working in the garage.
I'm noticing some erratic changes in volume using the 3.5mm adapter and headphones. The volume will go from normal to extremely loud when I skip tracks (I've used the stock player and a 3rd party music player). When it gets super loud and I exit to the homescreen it will normalize again. It makes no difference if I turn off Dolby Atmos, and the volume leveler within the Dolby app makes no difference either.
Wondering if anyone else is experiencing this.

I haven't used the 3.5mm adapter or USB-C headphones yet (got the Razer Hammerhead USB-C set on order),but,I did notice a lot more consistent/cleaner sound through the external speakers when turning off Dolby Atmos & using another equalizer app (Bass Booster):
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.desaxedstudios.bassbooster&hl=en
I think there's some work that needs to be done w/the Dolby Atmos,no matter how I tweaked the settings,or,used the presets, sound was unbalanced & sounded almost as if the speakers were blown.
Hard to describe, but, like a recording of someone else's blown speakers.
If you'd like,I can test this w/some earbuds, but, they're nothing note worthy, just some buds that came packaged w/Samsung Galaxy & Note phones from the past couple of years..................

@terrapin4
I was able to duplicate your volume spiking issue, skipping back & forth & the tracks that were low volume now played back @ the louder volume.
Very weird, not an audio software engineer here, but, this sounds like (pardon the pun) something a software update will take care of.
On a somewhat related note:
While using the Dolby Atmos w/the wired earbuds, switching between the presets had little to no difference,if any effect at all, barely noticed a difference when I turned the app on & off.
The Dolby Atmos,at least in my usage, pales in comparison to the Bass Booster app,I'm guessing any decent equalizer app in the Play Store will have the same results.

The Dolby Atmos,at least in my usage, pales in comparison to the Bass Booster app,I'm guessing any decent equalizer app in the Play Store will have the same results.

Thanks so much for testing and posting your results. Glad it's not just me, but disappointed this will affect other users as well.
I also had similar issues switching between the Dolby presets in that they made little to no difference. I think the update broke Dolby and messed up the amplifiers. Hoping a stock factory image gets posted so I can revert back. In any case I opened a ticket with Razer. I'll let you know what they say. Thanks again!

THX for opening a ticket w/Razer: :good:
Often people post in places like this & while it's definitely good to get corroboration,it does nothing if the mfgs aren't made aware of the issues.
Definitely something amiss w/Dolby as-is on the unlocked model w/the update.
I didn't try much of anything out pre-update,so,I have no basis of comparison,at least w/the wired earbuds.guessing my results would mirror yours,as did w/the OP & the decreased volume levels w/the external speakers post-update.
I just opened mine, immediately got an update. So I didn't have anything to compare to except my Pixel 2 XL which sounds much better!!

Just got the 2nd phone from amazon as I'm awaiting the return label for the first from razer. Though the first phone now, with severely limited volume compared to the RTM phone since it's post-update, is as loud as the new phone which happens to be the 813 pre-update build.
I will reset it here in a sec to see if that changes it, but it's much quieter than the gf's still. heh
*edit
I was going to restart the phone and check, then maybe reset.
After a restart, the phone is MUCHO louder, just like the gf's phone. Speakers are fine.
Soooooooooo
The only change? Other than setting the phone up, deny network to avoid update, and allowing google play to install the games and update everything else, I enabled dolby atmos, enabled 3 enhancements, chose custom1, turned up eq across the board, and then restarted.
So the restart enabled atmos? Sounds great though. 33% failure rate from my experience though. So I suspect the speaker failed or atmos blew em. Unless I'm completlely missing an aspect of signal processing when dealing with compact mobile audio designs.
I also received the update and tested against my pixel 2 XL. The Pixel sounds luck better than the Razer now. When I ran a test in the Dolby app the Razer sounded amazing again.

Been going back and forth with support today. They predictably asked me to do a factory reset to begin with. I did that and my symptoms now are as follows:
The erratic loud volume issue still persists when skipping through music tracks. This time however, the volume normalizes when I lock the screen of the phone. Whereas before it would normalize when I just navigated to the homescreen.
I've also noticed that when the volume goes super loud, I can lower it with the volume rocker key (obviously), but it's still in a louder state overall. However if I go into the Sound menu and click on the 'Media Volume' slider (without adjusting it) it normalizes the volume as if I turned off the screen like before.
None of these symptoms are present without using the dongle, so I'm inclined to believe it's something to do with the 3.5mm adapter. I'm curious to see if a normal (non THX) adapter produces the same result.
They are escalating the case now...I'll post as things develop.
I'm assuming Razer lowered the volume and ringtones until they can figure out if their current settings are blowing speakers, or maybe they have bad batches of speakers. It really sounds like they ditched QC to get as many units out the door at launch, then they will RMA bad devices once they get their line sorted out. Just my thoughts anyway. Hopefully they have all this sorted in January.
I think it would have been awesome if they figured this stuff out before launch, but at the same time I'm still cool with having the phone sooner than later.
They need to work on their communication though to the end users.
Wonder if doing a system restore through the recovery will downgrade it back to the out of the box firmware?
Can anyone dump the /system? I wanna see if there is any room for tuning this device
Well, as soon as I saw this I'm now installing the update.
If you turn it up and listen carefully you can hear the Custom 1 default profile, all 3 enahancements off, max volume, the RTM build vs the update today, build details in vid description.
* Vid soon to come, Kanye took the original down :/

One thread to discuss issues with the razer phone.

Really interested in this phone but obviously worried as it's there first generation phone. So can those who actually have the phone please use this thread to highlight the main issues they have encountered with the phone, to help others decide please.
Vibration motor sounds feels and sounds like theres a poor animal inside being shocked occasionally to cause the rumble (and sound)
When making calls people on the other end I cannot understand or make out what's being said but incoming calls are just fine
Started a similar thread, but getting sidetracked irl..
This thread is only focusing on the negatives to help people decide whether or not to buy it?
What about the positives? (which really do outnumber the negatives by a lot)
I'm also saying this after receiving a defective-speaker phone first time. Still wouldn't trade this phone for any others even if ya paid me or gave it to me for free.
It's like this...

For what it's worth i don't have this issue.
I find it's quite a hefty phone - that reeks of quality, but the square angles and smoothness of the build means it has slipped out of my hands a few more times than other phones. Though I am kinda being a bit namby pamby with it till my screen protector and case come through from Amazon, so it's probably just me.
When my phone vibrates, the bottom speaker area is what rattles.. Hold that or squeeze it and it will stop rattling temporarily.
I've been using this phone for two full days now. I love it. Amazing.
There are a few issues I'd like to list and come back too later to see if anyone else is having the same issues, but first let me start with what I love about the phone because I really do love this phone.
What I Love:
Yuuuuge screen. At first I thought I really wanted to go for the OP5T for the 18:9 Ratio. I actually compared side by side and I like this screen much more.
Phone is bulky, yes. But it gives me a feeling of quality. Like its going to last. My last three phones **** on me which were all Samsung. They look pretty, but they aren't built to last anymore. I am certain Samsung builds phones now to be replaced just like apple. My last phone the S7 Edge literally nothing wrong with it. The alarm went off in the morning like always, when I went to swipe the phone froze, got incredibly hot and shut down. After it cooled down I tried resetting it. Booting in safe mode, etc. Nothing it shows a black screen and what bugs me is that the phone works, I can get text message and unlock etc but the screen is black. This bothers me so much because the boot logo and animation shows up so I know its not a hardware issue. Right as the S8 comes out? Coincidence? I don't think so...
Anyways....
The Razer just seems durable to me, No fancy edges etc. (Cheaper to fix a flat panel in the case of cracks as well).
Screen is smooth as butter at 120hz. It really is noticeable, however after the first day I stopped noticing it. It became a passive thing for me. But I do notice when a game is not running at a high fps and it aggravates me now lol. Most of the games I used to play are literally unplayable to me now.
2TB MicroSD - Wow. No way I will ever need all that but still cool.
Audio, Dolby app. So good.
What I hate: Please let me know if any of these have been addressed by Razer.
Phone does get warm in use at, usually when set to 120hz. Like Youtube and gaming. Even regular use like watching youtube videos in HD gets the phone warm. Never hot, but warm.
Bluetooth audio when on youtube can get out of sync. Only way to fix is with restart. Happened twice so far.
I don't know if its just my mind playing tricks on me, but I notice the screen flash to a dimmer brightness at times. It happens in an instant and gradually gets back up. It's hard to explain, but I will be looking at the screen watching a youtube vid or something then look away and when I look back it seems like it's not as bright, but the more I look at it the more I can't see the difference anymore.
So yeah,
EDIT: Also what is ticking me off is that this has the same camera module as the S7 Edge yet better processor and twice the ram yet I can't shoot video in slow-mo 120fps. I know Razer is working on Camera fix, and I sure hope this feature comes along with it.
I thought the phone has a heat pipe or something like that?. Anyway for me seriously am done with phones that generate heat, especially when it's for gaming!

Is this the unicorn you speak of :
I wouldn't rule out this phone based on one or two users experience,at least until they can show how "bad" it is,with some footage/apps that record heating/etc........
Especially if they're charging the phone while playing a grapic-intense game.

No doubt, phones or computers that generate heat are so mid-90's. They're just dumb.
I've had an issue, happened twice now, but it is difficult to reproduce.
Dolby Atmos app open and turned on, wired headphones (Bang & Olufssen in ear buds). I was listening to an audiobook (Audible app, AAX file extension) and after 25-30 minutes of continuous playback (from 1 audiofile), the sound got weird, like it was coming through a drainpipe. This has never happened with music MP3, and only happened twice but each time after a lengthy playback. So far I haven't got it to happen without Atmos running.
Screen touch response seems like it is not very sensitive. Coming from the axon 7 that you could hover over the screen and it would be detected at times, I find myself double tapping home a lot. Really sucks not being able to change nav bar key placement.

I came from the Axon 7 and screen responsiveness was horrible on mine. This phone is a significant leap forward from anything ZTE has offered or ever will offer.

I am having more small issues with the razer than I did on the axon. Like auto rotate not working at times, not being able to move files from the internal storage to the SD card listing to headphones and the dongle gets moved to much and audio cuts off. I am hoping that once there are custom roms somethings will be fixed.

Granted while I have not tried the dongle yet I have no problem moving files from internal to external sd and back again (I used a third party file manager). I have to ask the stupid question. Have you tried a factory reset?

It's not every file, some move some don't. No I have not reset yet, have not reached that point of annoyance yet. Don't get me wrong I really like the hardware it's the little software bugs that are what I have trouble with, and that's coming from a guy that usually runs buggy custom roms.

Can't say I've not had the auto rotate not work. It was annoying the home screen is set to portrait in Nova settings.
What files are you trying to move though? From the 64GB internal to a SD?
My only issues are random restarts when I try to wake up my phone, and the metal surrounding my power button being slightly bent.
hello, for my experience, i love this phone a lot, but for downside is,
1. Mirror cast, cast doesnt detect other device on my phone, its like not even trying to find.
2. Bluetooth, so hard to connect audio bluetooth to my car radio, even if i can connect it, it play for just a less than a minute, then it stop.
3. Vibration, yep is kind a anoying vibration.
4. Heat, playing a mobile legends for a minute like playing for a hour, but i solved with using razer phone hard cover, at least i didnt feel the heat too much.
So far is good, but compared to my s8 plus, razer still have a lot to do.
Cheers.

Oneplus 6, 8GB 256GB ROM, OOS 9.0.2 (stable) - Bluetooth Issues?

Hello people,
I am using my Oneplus 6 since day one as (more or less) heavy user (kinda IT-Admin stuff, bit gaming, etc.) and I'm absolutely stunned by that phone, I'm always on the latest OP-Device since day one.
So... but I'm now struggleling with the Bluetooth Connection with my Headphones. I am using my Beyerdynamic Amiron Wireless with my Oneplus6 via Bluetooth.
Now the thing is - sometimes if I turn my head around, the connection is getting unstable and I can't enjoy my music. With my 6€ amazon Bluetooth dongle on my working-PC I am not experiencing this problem, even if I walk through the office here (+/- 5-10 meter), totally stable, not getting unstable. But if I am underway before or after work, or in the city - I am experiencing this issue with my headphones.
I already made a full reset (factory reset) and flashed the latest OOS 9.0.2 with the unbrick tool, just to exclude it could be an buggy update or something. I even made a whole reset of the headphones (and checked for newer firmware, but there wasn't one).
Have anyone of you any ideas about this? F***s me up right now...
I am unrooted, no magisk or any mods.
Cheers
Hi, I'm using the Sennheiser HD1 free, and the only problem i have is on PUBG i have a little bit of latency , even if they are aptx compatible, i'm on the last stable 9.0.02 and i have a 128/8 variant, but with music, videos or calls they are perfect, you tried to factory reset and debrick so i guess i have nothing to advice you for
good luck

When i connect it, it shows a toast and a logo of Qualcomm aptx
And also
from :https://www.theverge.com/circuitbre...s-on-impressions-comparison-bluetooth-earbuds
"The Momentum HD1 Free and CX 6.00 BT look virtually identical. The hardware for the cables, the in-line remote on the right earbud, the battery module on the left earbud, are all exactly the same — the two products even share the same FCC ID. Both headphones have Bluetooth 4.2 and support Qualcomm aptX and aptX Low Latency audio for higher quality playback, assuming your device supports it, which makes sense seeing as, again, they’re more or less the same."
I'm not test it yet with bluetooth headphones, but i don't have any bluetooth problem with my car audio and galaxy watch. OnePlus 6 8/256GB A6000
I have 8/256, am on 9.02. See frequent disconnection during calls made via car's BT. Not that it should matter but I have 2018 MB E350. No BT problem making calls with my wife's Samsung S9+. I did not have any issues with OP6 when I was on Oreo. Tried factory reset, clean flash, all the steps OP mentioned.
I'm on the 8gb/128gb not the 256gb and I have to issues whatsoever. I'm using Sony MDR-XB650BT headphones which are aptx compatible and an Mpow Bluetooth receiver (3.5mm Jack) my 2011 Pathfinder Bluetooth and my Samsung gear SEE frontier... all without any issues or drop outs.
I'm on 9.02 rooted with Magisk 17.1 stable with TWRP blue spark v986 v2 and EX kernel 3.02
I have the same issue and I believe it has to be because of low quality headphones, not the phone itself. Thought my nexus 6P was the problem but the issue remained on my new op6.
So get better quality headphones or it won't go away unfortunately

Beyerdynamic Amiron are not even close to low quality. That being said i am having the same problem with some low quality headphones and just assumed it was them.
But I am also having a problem getting any changes i make to bluetooth in developers options to stick. So not really sure what to think.

Didn't see what kind of headphones he was using, my bad.
But I still highly doubt it has anything to do with the phone anyway, since everything (at least what I use bluetooth for) else is working extremely well, just my low quality headphones has issues.
And at least from my side, since the issue remains from two totally different phones I think it's something else. If it's not hardware related to the headphones then my best bet is some kind of settings inside android.

I changed too the settings of the dev option but none of them seemed to get saved, try the OB rom or another rom to see if it's the stable one is the main cause
OP6/8/256 + 9.0.2 + cheap no name BT resembling Crapple earphones.
Stable connection but 600ms latency, exactly as under 8.1, 9.0, 9.0.1 stock.
Sometimes volume skyrockets and requires adjustment.

There's no such car as "2018 MB E350." They discontinued E350 in 2016.
Are you sure that you don't have a time machine?

LOL! It's E450. I still have 2015 E350- my son is using it (just turned 16, so only during the day with my wife in the car with him). Actually, BT disconnecting issue I mentioned happens in both cars. I may ask the service folks to look into this issue when I take my car for service next month. It does not happen all the time but get disconnected while I am still talking and have good signal.
OnePlus 6 w/ 9.0.2 - has been factory reset by clearing data and cache in recovery, as well as factory reset within Android.
My issue is with my vehicle's Bluetooth. Media playback is fine, however the vehicle often thinks that the phone has no signal, when it does have signal. When the vehicle does that, I can't make calls from the vehicle, but making or receiving a call on the phone itself will work through the vehicles speakers and mic.
No issues with my iPhone, or any other Android I've used. This is the first and only phone with this problem.
