Google backup issues on WiFi - Google Pixel 4a Questions & Answers

Anyone else having issues using google backup on WiFi? Mine works great on mobile data but on wifi it takes forever to open the backup settings page and then forever to actually do a backup. Many times it says it can't do it.
I have checked my wifi and all seems good. 1Gbps fiber is my speed and my network is WiFi 6. all other devices seeing full speeds. Regular internet usage over wifi with the Pixel 4a seems good.

How to use sensation as a wi-fi adapter and not use up data?

Hello,
I recently used Pdanet to connect my desktop to my wi-fi network and ran into the problem of using up all my data. I have t-mobile and I was connected to my wi-fi but it still counted the data and I was sent a text message saying that the rest of my data usage would be throttled. I was using albinomans CM10 rom and have heard of it reporting incorrect data usage if that is the problem. So my question is how can I use my phone to connect devices to my own wi-fi network but not use up my data? Thanks

Albinoman's data usage bug is isolated to the phone. Tmobile meters your data outside the phone.
In all likelihood, your desktop blew through whatever your 4G allotment was-- not surprising given that a few windows updates, an hour or so of music and a TV show or two will easily eat up 1GB.
Also consider that accessing webpages via your desktop uses a lot more data than accessing the mobile versions on your PC.
The only real solution is to upgrade to unlimited 4G, but some have reported nag web pages from TMobile for tethering on that plan. There are a few ways around it, well documented here.
I really don't understand why I'm being charged then if I'm using data that is from my network. There has to be a way to work around this.

3G "disconnected"?

Hello, I recently flashed CM 10.1 on my Note 2 and the mobile data seems a bit weird. For instance, when I enable the mobile data, it connects quickly and perfectly. However, after about 10 to 15 minutes, I don't know why even though it said to be connected (you can see the 3G/H+ icon and the signal bar was in blue), when I try to refresh a webpage or use services that require data connection, it fails to retrieve data. However, after I turned off and turned back on the mobile data, it works perfectly fine. This doesn't bother me allot as I do not leave my 3G idle for long time, but I still wants to know why and to see if there is a way to fix it. Thanks.

Slow Wifi connection - Hotspot speed OK

Since i have Mi4i, i have wifi problems.
This is wifi speed in speedtest.
Signal is excellent as you can see, and i have ridiculous download and upload speeds...
If i'm using Mi4i as Hotspot, wifi works great, with no problems, everything working as normal, having >10mbps speeds (download and upload).
I have to update apps via Pcsuite, and this is stupid and ridiculous now a days. I can't open a webpage in chrome...
i've reported this error, but i think this is a driver/kernel problem...

WIFI problems

Got a new S8+ yesterday.
Everything is fine except WIFI, it keeps disconnecting all the time, going on and off, until it finally stops working...
I tried removing all background signal checking and all unnecessary options, and also I did reset it to factory twice, but the problem persisted...
I have my former S7 Edge on the same network without problems...
I am having the same issue. Disconnect then reconnect every few min.
I had one disconnect this morning but it transfered to the 2G instead of the 5G.

Check your network settings; it may be switching between LTE and WiFi to "conserve energy, buy having the strongest connection." I have had that issue in the past with other devices.

Tried that already, but it is completely disabled..
In fact
Nearby Device Scanning is OFF
Wifi Calling is OFF
Location is PHONE ONLY
Smart Network Switch is OFF
Network Notification is OFF
Hotspot 2.0 is OFF
Keep WIFI on during sleep ALWAYS
and it is still happening.....
When I was first provisioning the device at home I was running it off a Ubiquiti AP Pro and kept getting disconnected. I took it off WiFi and ran the setup on 4G LTE only and connected to my WiFi after. I run Google Fiber and did some 5GHZ speedtest and was never less than 600mpbs up and down. Absolutely 0 chance the initial issue is my network at home. I haven't seen it disconnect since the initial setup but that does worry me a bit. I'd wipe the network profile and set back up.
Probably unrelated but I've found that the 5Ghz WIFI strength on my S8 5.8inch is terrible. The 2.4Ghz is fine though. Compared to my Pixel the 5Ghz is on average about 1/3 the connection speed at same range as the pixel and has much lower strength signal (testing with WIFIAnalyzer). If I cup the phone with 2 hands in landscape mode (how I normally watch videos) I often lose my WIFI connection completely from the 5Ghz network here.
Me to having same issue with WiFi disconnect automatically getting irritated from that
How to fix this guys
Had the same problem on mine. Setting the IP address to a Static IP fixed the issue.
Try going to settings, backup and reset, reset network settings. See if that works.

Strange mobile data problems

Hi.
I noticed that after being connected via WiFi for a longer time, e.g. during work at the office and then when I go out of WiFi range and phone switches to mobile data some apps don't seem to be able to receive mobile data or don't see the connection at all. E g. Waze (shows "waiting for network") and OnePlus community app can't read contents. Chrome browser works without issues at the same time.
Only reboot fixes it.
Anybody experiencing similar issues?
Not sure how related it is, but I was having problem with my vpn. When I got off wifi it would not automatically connect and apps wouldn't have data, there were some other symptoms that I don't remember now. Anyway going to developer settings and turning on mobile data always active fixed the problem for me, might be worth a shot.
Same here

Yeap, I use nordvpn, ones I leave my house using wifi and vpn, I loose data when switching to lte.
I don't have this problem with my op6.
Thanks for your input. So it looks like it would maybe be worth it posting about this issue in the OnePlus support forum.
I just noticed default 4G network mode is not the one I used to have on all my previous devices. (See attached picture). I'll try to switch to LTE Global and will be checking whether it changes anything.
