Kernel wakelock how to restore functionality - General Questions and Answers

Hi
[no root]
Tell me please how to get / view the program logs? and will it be possible to understand from these logs what the program issue?
The situation is as follows - I installed Wakelock Detector 2.1.0 and the kernel mode worked. then I changed something in the phone settings (but not related to the program), for example samsung push nitification prohibited working in mobile networks. for goole play service removed permishins for microphone, etc. And the kernel mode stopped working. gives the error "Faild perform this time. try later"
Using logs I want to understand what it is missing.
PS: there is another phone nearby where the kernel works in case it helps to quickly understand what it needs.

SecPhone - com.sec.phone - SecPhone.apk-1 - Sec.Phone.apk

Background:
Device:
Samsung Galaxy SIII (S3)
Verizon Wireless
Stock Rom Rooted Using "root66"
ClockWorkMod Recovery
I have just noticed in my "Frozen List" (via ROM Toolbox App Manager) that "SecPhone" is Frozen. I honestly do not remember messing with this at all. I am not the type of person to just "Test" things without researching it for at least a few hours via XDA and Google. I am sure I could have accidently Frozen it, but I have not taken note of it like I usually do when I make changes (in a notebook). I have no clue how long it has been like that and I have not noticed anything different about my phone.
I searched Google and XDA to find ANY information on this, but all I was able to find is something to do with a MOD that can be done to it to change the increasing ring volume on incoming calls. I also found information about someone using it to change the color of the "Answer Button" on an incoming call. I was wondering if someone could help me further to understand exactly what this is and what it does.
Issues:
None that I am aware of.
Nothing that I have noticed.
Questions
What is: SecPhone - com.sec.phone - SecPhone.apk-1 - Sec.Phone.apk ?
What is it's functions?
Is this bad that it is frozen?
What effects can it have on the device? (good/bad)
What would you do?

Was wondering the same thing myself. When I look at the list of running applications I see this service running under another service called syncmlsvc. I've been trying to find if this is a necessary service or is it safe to freeze.
I've always frozen com.sec.phone on every phone I've rooted without any problems.
The reason I would freeze it, is because it always showed up under Running Apps, and I had no clue to it's function.
If I don't know what it's doing, and it doesn't hurt my phone to freeze it, then it gets frozen.
My GSII still has this frozen and it's been over a year easy, no problems..
I think you will find the answer here on w w w.group-ssi.com website

is this a third party app. I have 2 versions of the same on the phone. com.sec.phone. The first one is a 3.7MB app that is a android system app and the second one had a green bug sign which has the uninstall version frozen(12KB). It has full access to the phone including contacts/cam/calls etc and has also no option for switching off the notifications in the settings/notifications option.

[Q] Help please re. 3 niggling issues on TF700T

Hi - I've had my Infinity TF700T now for around 3 months and have been very happy with it - so much so I've been waiting to get the Asus Padfone 2 (although I'm based in the UK so will have to wait longer than most !), however I was wondering if anyone has experienced (and more importantly been able to resolve !) the following issues that have I've experienced intermittently - internet searches have found related items - but no resolution or actual email stating that it's a known issue. I've also approached the support team @ Asus, but have only been told to try the uninstall/reinstall approach etc which hasn't helped.
The device is running JB with stock kernel v10.4.4.20
Would appreciate any input anyone can give !
1) Stock alarm clock only going off once with lid closed
This is a weird one - if I lock the Infinity (using the padlock button on the keyboard) and leave the device open (it's attached to it's keyboard base) then the (daily repeating) alarm goes off without a problem - as soon as I close the lid on the device - it only rings once and stops.
As I thought this might be something to do with power saving, I've disabled all power saving on the device and am getting the same issue. Internet searches have found similar issues on other Android devices which only a reset of the entire device looking to resolve the issue.
Does anyone know of a less intrusive fix for this please ? I'd rather use the stock application that have to download a 3rd party app.
2) I've found that during startup of the device, there are intermittently some files created with filenames similar to the following :
VS38JM6U.000
VS2MQKMH.000
VS2MQKMH.001
The filenames are of various filesizes and I am unable to yield any useful information as to purpose of these files by examining their contents - apart from noting the files are binary in nature - possibly coredumps of some sort ?
Does anyone know how or why these files are created ?
I initially suspected they might be created as some sort of fsck process that Android is carrying out - but I have no way to ascertain this for certain - Asus support have said that the device doesn't carry out a fsck during startup.
I then thought they might be due to a virus of some sort, so installed AVG, Avast, Trend, Sophos and Norton (yes all at the same time) - did a search of the device with all of the applications and found nothing. After further questioning Asus support thought the issue might be due to several anti virus applications being loaded simultaneously, however as it occurred before I installed them I think this highly unlikely.
I have not been able to find any mention of ANY other users experiencing an issue like this on the internet.
3) Stock weather application intermittently isn't able to refresh weather when "find my location automatically" option is enabled
This is also a bit of a weird one - as the title of the issue says - I find that the stock weather app (the Asus branded one sourcing data from AccuWeather.com) will find the location I am and weather several times without any issues out all, and then suddenly stop working for no apparent reason.
I have read that other Android devices have exhibited this issue and have seen various fixes - for me a reboot of the Infinity always fixes it although this obviously shouldn't be necessary ?
I thought it might be due to a connectivity issue with the AccuWeather servers, however if I add the city I am in manually and get the application to refresh it is able to find the weather without any issues at all.
I have tried killing the processes (including flushing the application cache etc.) and this hasn't helped. I read an article somewhere that usage of Task Manager (I tend to kill applications I don't need that are running - not the obvious system ones but Gmail etc. when it appears) can exacerbate the issue and I have certainly found that the weather app can run a lot longer before not refreshing if I don't kill any unrequired apps.
I read a few articles which suggested that the GPS functionality was switched off/not working which could cause this issue, however in the instances where this issue has occurred, I've ran GPS Test and Google Maps and they've been able to pinpoint my location with no issues whatsoever.
Would appreciate any feedback/info anyone could give.
Many thanks in advance.
There are many issues with the stock rom. You may be better off unlocking, installing nvflash, flashing a custom recovery and custom rom.

[Q] Issues CM11_Saga_Flinny_alpha5

Hello guys,
this is goin' to be my first post on xda-developers sure that this should normally be placed in another thread but permissions to do that are still missing.
I don't want to create useless board blowing posts only to reach more than 10 to get the permission to disclose some bugs I found in the current CM11_saga_flinny_alpha5..
First of all I wanna thank all developers for spending there spare time for such great projects!!
Issues I recognized:
1) Apps moved and located on the sd-card will loose the desktop link after reboot of the system as often as I place it onto the primary screen.
2) The current Brower often crashes whenever I'm on for example facebook watching pictures it crashes, reproducable.
3) in options under developer options activating error report doesn't bring any report up for sending via email
4) could anyone please evaluate if downloading i.e. Redphone or Textsecure works within the GooglePlay Store? I can't although it is compatible to android 4.4.2 so I guess that there is a mismatch between the googleplay and the alpha5 permissions
thanks.

Hey
I had the second bug to. I reflashed and wiped cache and co and it was gone. No idea why.
I have Problems wieht the Headphones control. Does it work at your device? I get no symbol in the statusbar that the headphone is in still can hear music and sounds but the thee control bottums of the headset don´t work neither the microphon.
@Flinny and @devilkin
Known/recognized issues on both ROMs:
Please evaluate if downloading i.e. Redphone,Textsecure, WhatsApp works within the GooglePlay Store!?
I can't although it is compatible to android 4.4.2 so I guess that there is still a mismatch between the AndroidManifest.xml and both of your ROMs. Permissions or something like that..?
Calling somebody and than trying to "mute" the doesn't work so there's an incorrect function.
Moving apps located(moved to) on the sd-card will loose the desktop link after reboot of the system as often as I place it onto the primary screen.
Gererating Error Report doesn't work seems to be no function behind it..
Hope you guys will fix these bugs...anyway thanks for your great work on supporting such an old phone. Still love my Desire S
I'm currently using the recommended 20140517—version and am having some problems with mobile data, so i assume this is a bug.
Mobile data in 3G networks works flawlessly, but in 2G networks it won't connect to any site/page or service. Though sometimes I get some incoming Whatssapp messages or push-news-content. Never Bad this problems with stock Roms. Provider is Vodafone Germany.

[Q] Issue with push notifications

Recently I've been having a problem on my OnePlus using RedPhone. Whenever I use the normal dialer to try to call someone that also has redphone, the phone tries to launch redphone and it immediately crashes. I don't even get the dialog to ask if I want to do a secure or insecure call. I found this possible thing on redphone's support forum: (I can't submit the link yet because I'm new, but PM me and I'll send the link)
The text from the link: "RedPhone requires Google’s GCM push messaging framework by default. In your RedPhone settings you can change the Signaling Method to “SMS push notifications” and see if this resolves the issue."
I am using privacy guard that came with CM11S, I am using 33R and I have the latest franco.Kernel installed aswell. I have a feeling that there is something in privacy guard that I have disabled related to google services but I can't find the right thing.
I'm thinking it's related to google push services because I also don't get notifications from Tinder, which used to work just fine. The notifications are enabled in the app.
Can anyone point me to which exact app in privacy guard needs which permission enabled so that both of these issues could be fixed? Thanks.

Question Android Auto

Anyone manage to get Android Auto working? I get a Communication error 22 - Android Auto was not preinstalled on this device when I try to connect. Anyone figured out a way to sideload it?
Hi,
I have installed Android Auto on the phone from the play store, but can't manage to connect it to the car.
The phone is not detected. I can see inside app section "Connection help": 'Android auto isn't part of your phone operating system...'
Did someone succeed to run it and connect to the car unit ?

Same problem here with the Xiaomi 12S Ultra . it seems that Android Auto must be installed as a System app instead of a User App.
here is a way to do this but i did not test it. I did not find a way too root my phone yet.
[GSI] Fix 'Communication error 22' on Android Auto
If you've installed a custom ROM that doesn't come with Android Auto pre-installed, you'll get the following error when connecting your phone to your car (the Android Auto app opens correctly, the error is only shown when you connect to the car)...
forum.xda-developers.com
That's the issue, if it's not natively instaled then AA will not work.
There might be some advanced geeky workaround but for me that's a no Go.
It's a fact: these Non Global devices always have issues with deep Android applications such as AA, Google Pay, HDRstreaming and such.
I donn't think that any of the advantages of these devices outweigh the basic Google features that we see now, and possibly in the future.
