Question Any way to enable the built-in second SIM card reader? - Samsung Galaxy S21+

Hey.
I only found out about this "second physical SIM card reader is disabled" issue after I bought my S21+ here in Australia. Even after swapping the single SIM tray to a dual SIM tray it wouldn't work.. which was then explained over here at GSMarena.
I was getting my hopes up that with a dual SIM card tray and flashing the right ROM, I would be able to use both my physical SIM cards but I seem unable to find the one that would help to achieve this.
Has anyone else come across this and was successful in enabling that second reader?
P.S. I'd prefer to use a European ROM in the end but I'm at the point where if I can't enable via flash, I will return and hope to find a S21+ somewhere else that comes with dual physical enabled ootb.
P.P.S. Currently on G996BXXU3BUKG, XSA

Hi there, have you ever figured out a way to use the second SIM slot? I am facing the same issue with a US S22. I can see the physical SIM card connections under a microscope and bought a dual sim tray but no second SIM shows up under "SIM card manager"

Howdy.
I wasn't able to get the second one working, not with with the dual sim tray and any ROM.
For me, it ended up with a return and getting one from Europe where the dualSIM came ootb and worked right away.
Sorry, no revelations from me.
Best of luck

Thank you for your response. I am sorry it didn't work for you in the end.
It really is a shame, in my opinion, for Samsung to put up those restrictions on the device, especially if it already ships with the hardware in it.

[Q] Xoom 3g sim card problem

Wondering if anyone can help, im using team Eos European 3g rom zoom. now i tried 1 sim card and the 3g works perfectly but when i try my other sim, i enter the pin code on screen , it accepts it, then immediately says "Sim card removed, the mobile network will be unavailable until you restart...." .
The sim card definitely isnt broken because it works in my phone and 3g modem on my pc. I've tried restarting the xoom with Wifi off and no luck.
Thanks

how old is that "other" sim card? Reason I'm asking is that sim cards use different voltages and old cards tend to cause problems in modern devices.
Around here, providers usually swap sims for free if you say that you've got a problem with one, so I'd go for an exchange if your sim is older that maybe two years...

Its actually brand new, got it on the weekend. It works perfectly everywhere else. I think i'll go to the provider anyway today and see if i can try a sim swap.
This really is baffling me now. I went back to the providers store and tried a different one of their sim cards and it doesnt work either. I just cant understand why my xoom can read certain providers sim cards and not others? (Its definitely not network locked). Could it possibly be the type of sim card (as in a 32k vs 64k etc)?
Any help would be greatly appreciated

[Q] [Xoom2] APN disappears. Sim card troubles. MZ616

I visited my sister in Germany and she gave me a Vodafone branded Xoom2 UMTS (MZ616). I was able to flash it with ICS and everything works great.
I got a new sim card from ATT (I live in ghe US)and put it into the tablet. This is were my issues start.
I see no APNs. When I add an APN it disappears or I cannot save it.
I tried everything. Sometimes when I try to manually search for the network ATT pops up. When I select it, it will show bars for a short time or i may get a "sim not authorized for this network error.". When I add data roaming, it may shows the ATT APNs for a short time.
I also get an error when trying to add a simlock I get a "no sim card" error.
I am stumped. I searched the various forums and I get a lot of inconsistent info.
Is this issue related to the tablet being locked? Does that even matter? Is this some sort of region issue? Do I need to unlock the bootloader or should I use a different ROM?
I do not think the sim card is faulty.
Any help appreciated.
Sim Card Size????
So I compared the old Vodafone sim card with the 'new' AT&T sim card. The plastic outline of both cards seesm to be micro. However, the gold plated contacts on the new cards are definitely micro sim, but the old Vodafone card seems to be old school size (not sure what that size is called). If the size of the gold plated material matters, then this may be may issue. Like I said, above, when I first boot into the tablet with the new sim card I will have bars for a short time, but they disappear and the sim card does not seem to be recognized.
Can someone knowledgeable on sim card size matters as they pertain to the Xoom2 please weigh in and let me know if this is the issue?
I took a pic of the sim cards. From left to right: Old Vodafone sim, new AT&T sim, 2FF (mini sim card) for size comparison.
Please post all questions in the Q & A section. Thanks! Thread moved.

no sim card - no service

Hey guys. I just got a moto g today and I find this quite annoying, because when I turn it on before unlocking it it comes up with an error saying "Vodafone NZ, no sim card - no service". It's odd because of the fact that I am still able to use the phone in both using the internet and text / call. I've come to realize that the no sim card part is due to the fact that it's, perhaps, referring to the second sim card slot being un-used. But the no service part does not particularly make sense. Also when I unlock the phone it also has a red slash going through a sim card on the top left as well as the red slash going through a graph, referring to connection.
I got the phone today and when I got it I had to get a new sim card and load my current number on it at the vodafone store, the guy did it for me.
Any help will do. Thank you.
Yeah, it's referring to the other sim card, both sims are always displayed. When I had two sims in, they both showed the carriers. "Vodafone NZ" is one and "no sim card - no service" is the other.
Okay. So essentially what it is, is that the slash through both the other sim and connection is refferring to having both no sim and connection via the 2nd sim card? so I need to get a 2nd sim in order for it to go away?
Yes to both questions. If you get a second sim, it will look like the other one.
There are some mods to get rid of it, but I think it's a much of a muchness...
Fair enough. I can only presume it got there because the vodafone guy put the sim card in both slots, therefore activiating the 2nd one. Fair enough though. It's not doing anything just annoying my ocd ;D !
Thank you so much for your assistance.
You're welcome.
Mine has both, they're there by default. It's okay, it's a common complaint... XD

Samsung sm-g955f

Hi all
This maybe a silly question, but I've looked for ages on here and didn't find an answer
Has anyone tried a dual SIM tray in a single SIM model to see if it does indeed have dual SIM support?
Thanks

Problem being a single sim phone will only have 1 imei#
Sent from my God Mode 8
Valid point, but still doesn't answer my question, if anyone has tried dual SIM tray, does it then activate and support dual SIM on single SIM phone, which in turn may activate second imei#

I'm wondering the same question. I have read of folks cloning their IMEI to do a dual SIM hack, however, I don't know of the success/viability.
I'm wondering if the 955F has dual SIM hardware....

T-Mobile 8T have dual sim if I get the dual sim tray?

So the title says it.
I have the T-Mobile 8T and I bought a cheap little dual sim tray for the 8t and was wondering if the tmobile 8T will still do dual sim with that tray?
It's in the stock tmo settings app for dual sim so I'm hoping it works
Do you have 2 imei numbers?

I shoved my old 7T's dual sim holder in to my Tmo 8T with my two SIM cards (if you have Tmo, get your FREE LINE during the holiday promo...).
The sim holder didn't fit all the way in but the first sim card did register and it worked fine. The phone did not report seeing the second sim. I'm wondering if that's a function of the Tmo ROM. Looking in the sim card hole you can see there are top and bottom pins... I have to wonder if flashing to the global firmware would activate the second sim....

The weird thing in the stock tmo rom it has settings for sim2 and sim1 so I would assume it would work and yep that's why I'm asking this I got the free line lol
Having two Sims on the same network won't help you very much for performance, but it's great if you need two numbers!

Not only that, you could potentially use one SIM for data only ($20+/mo) and a second SIM for voice ($3/mo for Prepaid), instead of spending $60+ monthly. A different calculation on multi-line accounts though...
Unfortunately, I can confirm that, at least on the latest T-Mobile build (11.0.4.6.KB09CB), dual SIM does NOT seem to work.
I've tried it with the OEM dual SIM tray for the OnePlus 8T, which fits perfectly in the T-Mobile "OnePlus 8T+ 5G." The second SIM (SIM2 slot of the tray) is never detected and no options for it appear despite both SIMs working individually when placed in the SIM1 slot of the tray.

Fortunately, people have already confirmed that the Global ROM conversion does enable dual SIM. See the Global/EU conversion thread for more.

Thanks for confirming what we suspected. I think anyone seriously interested in dual SIM should be on global anyways.
I bet that eventually a few smart devs will dig into the T-Mobile rom and find a way to patch dual sim support back in
