Question The stereo speaker gyp- how to get around? - Moto G Stylus (2021)

I'm sure I'm not the only one that upgraded to a new Motorola and discovered after-the-fact that they nixed the stereo speakers I was especially angry because the "Motorola Moto G Stylus" is listed everywhere as having stereo sound, but the 2021 version does not.
After it was delivered, my carrier and Motorola both basically told me thanks for your money, get lost.
The speaker on the 2021 is okay, though I had a Motorola Moto G 2nd Gen for almost a decade and was always proud of the fact that it had stereo, and certainly wanted it with the upgraded phone.
Aside from feeling I was deceived.... the speaker works except in games like Jackpot, where the sound most definitely only comes from one side of the phone, and it just ruins the experience.
I'm intrigued by one thing though- the 2nd earpiece speaker already on the Motorola, even in the 2021. Why can't that be turned on too? Surely that would make a difference, not true stereo like the older Motorola phones... but at least enough so some games don't sound so one-sided.
I believe people are calling the concept "Dolby Atmos Surround Sound", per an app I can't find a way to install......turning on the earpiece ALSO when playing videos and games (see video). But so far I haven't found a step-through for the Motorola Moto G Stylus 2021. Has anyone done this, and can they help?
I've found an app that will play music through the earpiece only, but no mod to turn on and use both speakers when playing media & games.

Use the Earpiece & Speaker Together for Surround Sound on Your Galaxy Note 3
Located at the bottom of the Samsung Galaxy Note 3 lies the speaker from which music, notifications, and most other audio comes from, which provides warm and clear sound when needed. When you need the audio to be louder, that's where third-party speakers come in handy, which you could have at...

bummer

Here's how to do it on the OnePlus 6.
I'm surprised nobody knows how to do this for a Motorola Stylus?
But surely.....

[Q] Suggestions for Headphones with Mic

Ok ... so the microphone on my HTC stock headphones have broken.
Whilst I love the headphones, I'm a bit miffed by the microphone issue.
Can anyone suggest some good replacements?
Must have a microphone.
And if they've got some music controls compatible with Android / HTC that would be great.
What can you suggest?
ive been using the zagg smartbuds for the last few months, im a real audiophobe and wont settle for any poor quality headphones, ive mainly used shures in the past but got sick to death of the leads breaking up (16 replacement phones within the 2 year warrenty - they lost a customer in the end). these zagg buds are on par with my old shure (e4c) sound quality wise and are far more durable.
they have an excellent microphone, slider controls for volume and an button that will pause music / and take calls, if you hold the button it will also active the voice dial.
i was that impressed with them i went and purchased another set for if and when i break or loose these phones.
Lenovo bought headphones with microphone and earphone, I enjoyed the sound quality, there is a hint, it works perfectly Desire in HD.

Z3 speakers?

Hello!
As some of you knows it already the Z2 speakers are low out of the box and even only one speaker works when the phone ring.
Do you think the Z3 will be louder with tweaks as Phonearena review is saying it's not loud enough?
Btw does the new UI has a car app?
Please post questions in the Q&A section

Hiya
Just got mine last night. The bottom speaker is the only speaker that plays when the phone rings, although it is quite loud. Texts seem quiet though. This would be better through both speakers though for sure.
Can't see a Car app on UK unlocked model.
Different with my Z3 (bought via Vodafone Germany): BOTH speakers are used for incoming call sounds; pretty decent volume.
Didn't notice a "car app"; there's Garmin navigation preinstalled - but the usual "try and NOT buy" kind. So just regard it as nonexistent, simply stick with Google Maps. And yes, Sony generously allows deinstalling Garmin navigation.
Speakers in general: Nice and clear sound, quite deep stereo effect, but a bit thin, could be louder, about the same volume as Samsung's S4.
Playing around with preamp settings does NOT help, just leads to distortions.
HORRIBLE volume via 3,5 mm connector - AS USAL, volume is FAR TOO LOW for powering anything else than that infamous earwax pullers (in-ear headphones).
For something positive: The sound via headphones connector is real fine, you won't be disappointed if it comes to audio fidelity.
this is probably done on purpose by design. sony probably figures if they enabled both speakers or made them louder it would be pretty rude when in public places.. something would agree with.. nothing more annoying than to be at a public place and hearing phones ringing at full volume . IMO these devices are already ring loud enough.. i keep mine at middle volume and is plenty loud. i think people that require louder should invest in hearing aids or perhaps clean their ears

Can't say limiting the ability of the phone to ring through both speakers is a design feature.
I'm going to keep looking to see if anyone sorts the sound coming out of one speaker as this is the culprit I think.
Edit: I actually think having both speakers playing would allow them to reduce the volume in both, allowing for less distortion and a nice sounding ringtone.
Im currently test driving the IPhone 6...yes don't bash me this is my first iPhone...I'll like to know if the speaker output on the Z3 is as loud as the iPhone 6?
I just own z3 I can tell speaker very low.I owned z1 z2 before. same kind **** Sony don't improve anything

The iPhone 6 speaker is louder, but since it's always facing the wrong direction, the louder speaker doesn't always translate to more sound reaching your ears. Your hand often covers the speaker as you hold it as well.
It's plenty loud, maybe not as good as HTC M8 levels in terms of clarity at full volume but pretty close.
Speaker tests from GSMArena. Look for stats in a table in the middle of the page in each link.

buy the sony sbh20 and add whatever headphones or earbuds you like
I ordered the JayBird BlueBuds X Sport from Amazon along with a case for the phone. People seem to like the BlueBuds X.

Any BT that uses apt x codec will sound great for being bt headphones. The jaybird x are nice as they support apt x. As well as many of the LG tone headphones. I know the Tone 730 I used sounds great for music. I wonder if your old phone did not have apt x support. Not all of them do. What price range are you looking at?

i have the z10 currently therefore i am estatic to get my n4
my budget is up to 100 but the more cost effective, the better so i can spend more on other accessories!
I have own the jaybirds x for a while now. Couldn't be happier with them. Sure they are a bit expensive but in my opinion worth every penny. My backup pair is the Motorola s10. The range is awesome on them. I could run a 1/8 mile track and never lose signal with my device.
I love my jaybirds bluebuds x they have amazing sound
The jay birds are the best, i found the next best at a fair price to be the Plantronics backbeat 2 to be the next best thing. Great sound good range and small footprint. People have claimed poor battery life. I avagerage about 5 to 6 hours of constant use. They claim 4 to 6 from the company i believe. Can be purchased around 50 dollars.

I've tried two models of the LG Tone with my Note 2. At times they sounded horrible, and also frequently cut the microphone out; the people on the call thought I hung up but I could still hear them but they couldn't hear me. That seemed to be a software issue on the Note 2. And it also got to where the headphones were staticy or went out even though they were only 2 feet from the phone. A reboot 90% of the time fixed those problems for a while.
So far I haven't experienced that with the Note 4 thankfully.
I have a pair of these under the anker brand. Not bad for only 30 bucks that I paid for them.

But i know the jbird x sound much better then these. Do you have to have bt headphones? Maybe get a cheaper set for working out and a better set like these?
http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00HUNUOJW/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o08_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
I have these and they are great for the price.
I think my next headphones may be something like the samsung Level on set. Just waiting for a better price on them.
For those with the Jaybirds, how is the battery life?
AS long as they don't cut out/mute when wifi is on.. Had that issue with my Note 3 and LG HBS-750
I got the jaybirds. Love them. I've never ran them completely out of battery before charging, so I don't know the exact battery life. Have gotten over 5 hours many times though.

I want something unintrusive, to take advantage from android wear to actually control the device: so earphones, sound quality and almost no cable... right now the only thing I found are the Jaybirds.
JasonJoel, may I ask how fares the mic and noise cancellation system? The only complaint I've ever heard is about poor voice in-call!
I think the noise cancelation is pretty good. The mic quality is ok, but not great.

I just purchased the Plantronics Backbeats 2 about 3 days ago. Had never seen them but I went into Vzn to look for Note 4 accessories and saw the last pair hanging. I thought to myself, WOW only one pair....that's a good sign, right? lol. Anyway, I have to say I am satisfied with the sound quality. I love the pouch & fact that it is a on the go charger as well. I had plantronics before as a bluetooth earpiece about 10yrs ago and that was a good device way back then. I have issues with finding the proper sized buds to use. Oddly enough the large ones work best as fully plugging my ear for best sound quality. I am still gonna try Sammy' s Circle Gear though.
I have these http://www.amazon.com/MEElectronics...qid=1414287587&sr=8-1&keywords=airfi+matrix+2 MEElectronics Air-Fi Matrix2 AF62 Stereo Bluetooth Wireless + Wired Headphones with aptX, AAC, and NFC . They sound great with BT 4.0 and aptx codec and there isn't much clamping force

Thanks! I have the Platronics Backbeat Go 2, but the ear tips are terrible. There isn't any Comply Foam I can order either. No budget earbuds seem to have better fit and audio quality than the good old Klipsch S4a. I'll definitely pick these up to use with my Klipschs.

Noice Cancellation Bluethooth Headset

Hello
I would like to know which is the Best Bluethooth headset
with Noice Cancellation
1) Plantronics Voyager Edge
2) Plantronics Voyager Legend
3) Jabra Stealth
4) Jabra Storm
5) BlueAnt Q3 Premium Smartphone Earpiece
6) Jawbone Era
If there is a another better headset
Please let me know
Sennheiser Presence
I use my Plantronics BackBeat Pro headphones. Noise cancellation and 24 hours battery life, sensors that stop music when you remove them from your head and restart when put back on plus lots more stuff. And I like their fun sound.
The Storm seems to have mixed reviews at Amazon UK and Germany but the Stealth has mostly good reviews. I use the Legend and can recommend it but have not compared it to others.
I have 2 I use everyday.
1. LG Tones Infinim
2 Voyager Edge.
The Edge also stops playback when removed from the ear. Good noise cancelation.
I just love the LG's, they are always around my neck. The ear piece cords retract neatly into the headset. Music and calls sound great, easy controls and comfortable.

Thanks Bro
I think Voyager Edge seems a good choice
its surprising no comments on BlueAnt
Jabra Stealth
The Stealth is a great head set. Great noise cancellation, loud clear volume, announces the callers name, answers your calls with your voice and it has the best Google Now intergration of any headset that I have ever owned. I have the Jawbone Era and the Stealth is unequivocally a better headset.
Beats Studio Wireless
I been using the for some time. I can be outside in the wind without any issues talking on the phone. There are times were the headset will disconnect randomly. If there is no sound (music or video) the noise cancellation noise can very loud. Almost like if you were in a small air plane. There is no way to turn off noise cancellation without putting mute on. Battery can last over eight plus hours straight use. Sad part you can used it wired but head phones needs power to work. Great head phones a little over priced. I wish they didn't take away navigation buttons found on gen one.
Bose bluetooth very good
Sent from my SM-N915G using XDA Free mobile app
So the Voyager Edge has Google Now integration only in the US and EA regions. What's with that?
I can't understand why something I was regularly doing on Windows Mobile 5.0 is so fkn difficult for these guys. (and I mean Voice Command rather than Google Now, for any pedants out there)

Sound only comes from bottom speaker with ringtones?

Why does the sound only come from the bottom speaker on incoming calls or when notifications arrive? Listening to music, watching videos or playing games and the sound comes from both speaker. Also getting the feeling that the sound is much worse when it comes to ringtones/notifications.

Same here, ringtones and notifications sounds not only worse but quiet even on full volume.
But seriously why? You have 2 speakers and only choose to activate one of them with ringtones/notifications... Or is it some bug that will be fixed with an update?
I know this thread is a couple months old, but this bugs me too! Any updates on figuring this out? I'd like to utilize my stereo speakers to the fullest.

This is standard across many dual speaker devices. Only the bottom speaker is used for notifications and in call loudspeaker mode. We'll need someone to find a way to edit the root files that control this or create a mod that can be flashed in recovery. Until then, only one speaker will be used.
Anyone found a way to edit the build.prop files yet?
My guess is that it isn't the build.prop file, but a mixer XML file that needs editing. Unfortunately, I have no knowledge on how to do anything like that though.

I think you're right. I found a set of them but don't even know where to begin to edit them.
To be fair, and I'm not sure why, this phone isn't the only device to suffer from this. For comparison, my wife's iPad Pro w/ 4 speakers works fine with media and apps. However, when using Facetime, it only outputs from 2 speakers. I'm not sure if, including the Pixel 2, this is an app design, a hardware design, or comms protocol limitation or something. I wish all sound came from both speakers and that both speakers were designed to be equal...I believe the Pixel 2 speakers are designed so that the top speaker is more Treble-focused and the bottom has a little more bass.

Yes, this is standard across most device manufacturers. I'm not sure why though as I've successfully modded an old Sony Xperia to have dual speaker output for loudspeaker calls.
