Android Multi User and Google-Find-MyDevice (FMD) - General Questions and Answers

hi
I have 2 User profiles in my phone for various reasons...
Both profiles use the same gmail account..
When I do that on the Google Find My Device portal 2 devices show up with the exact same name, for each profile..
Is there a way to control the "name" of the profile, so I can differentiate between the two or just have it show only the admin profile, on FMD.
I think this problem will also occur on the web version on the Google Playstore...

As far as I know, Find My Device is associated to the Google account that is signed in on the device, not to user accounts on the device. If you want to have separate accounts on the device and have Find My Device be able to differentiate between the two accounts, you will need to create a separate Google account and have both Google accounts signed in on the device with one user account associated to your original Google account and the secondary Google account associated to your other user account. Then, when you use Find My Device, it will be able to find each account separately but will probably only show whichever account you are actually logged into at the time, you'd probably have to switch to the other account in order for Find My Device to show that device. In other words, when using Find My Device, you will only be able to see the account that you are currently signed into the device with at that time but not the other account unless you log into that account and then it probably won't be able to see the other account that you just signed out of.

[Q] Google Account Comptimised - Gmail and Gtalk dont function now

My house mate has an un-rooted HTC Sensation. Recently when going to Gmail on her PC browser she got some kind of message about her account had been accessed from another country and she needed to verify via call or text.
She verified via text and I think changed her password.
Now, Gmail doesn't notify her of new mails, she has to go in and refresh. Also, trying to open Talk means a black screen appears and within a split second it closes, no errors.
I've tried clearing data on all Google apps. I would remove the account and re-add it, but it says I can't as apps are tied to the account.
Any ideas what has happened and how it can be fixed?
Give the Accounts help page a try.

Thanks, but I can't really select any of those. Logging in is fine.
(How do I correct my spelling error in the thread title! lol )
You might be better off using her PC in that case.
I selected option 2 from the original link (I think someone else is using my account) and it lead to this:-
If you still have access to the email address you use to sign in, visit our password assistance page to reset your password and to prevent anyone else from accessing your account again in the future.
Note that resetting your password requires your account recovery options. If your options aren't suitable to reset your password, click the link to the account recovery form (learn more) which will appear at the bottom of the recovery options page.

and then to this
Account recovery form
If you find yourself locked out of your account and none of your other recovery options work, your last option is to visit our password assistance page, and click the link underneath the recovery options to verify your identity. This will take you to our account recovery form.
Take time to fill out each section of the form to the best of your ability. It was designed to ensure that no one can gain access to your account except you.
For example, if you use Gmail, you can provide the verification code you received when you first created your account. The verification code is a unique set of letters and numbers that identifies you as the creator and owner of your Gmail address. Since Google doesn't collect a lot of information about you when you sign up for an account, we will also ask you questions like when you created your account, what Google services you use, and who you email frequently (if you use Gmail).
If you fill out the recovery form and aren't successful on the first try, you can try again. Make sure to wait until you receive our reply before you submit another report. Important: Try to provide as much information as possible on each attempt. Each submission is evaluated independently.
If you're unable to recover access to your account using the recovery form, you can create a new account. Gmail usernames cannot be recreated, so if you were using Gmail, please pick a new username.

What I'm saying is, none of them apply. She's reset/changed her password now and can use her account no problem. The issue is app/phone related.
I have started a new thread in the mobile section of the Google help forum though, thanks.
Right I'm with you. Confusion rules!

Problem with Google Account Disabled

Hi everybody,
I have a little problem with my Google Account. About 1 year ago, my account (alessio.buccoliero) has been disabled. I've created a new one (alessio.buccoliero.new), and it has been disabled too. At that point, I've created a new one, changing the name, and it worked for a while, until yesterday (disabled). I need a Google Account because I have an Android Phone but I don't want to create one every 3 months. If I try to contact Google, they don't reply to me and don't explain why they disabled the account.
I don't use Google services in any wrong way, AFAIK, but I noticed that the ban occurs when I try to upload photos on Picasa or use Google Drive (recently) or Google+.
Does anybody know if Google uses a sort of "blacklist" of users that have been banned once or more time in order to disable their account recursively?
Does anybody experienced the same problem?
Any help is welcome.
Thanks in advance,
Alessio
Same thing happened to my friend today for no reason. Not sure how to fix it :-\
Mmmh, thank you. It's very strange...
Anyone else?
Alessio
What is the message that tells you it is disabled? And when do you get that message?
Sent from my GT-I9100 using XDA
What is your banned Message ?
There is a high relevance to the actual email or notification or email address you set as your original email address when creating gmail account
now your secondary email should have a mail from google telling you why you were banned
When I try to login with my credentials I'm redirected to a page that contains this message.
Account has been disabled
If you've been redirected to this page from the sign-in page, it means that access to your Google Account has been disabled.
In most cases, accounts are disabled if we believe you have violated either the Google Terms of Service , product-specific Terms of Service (available on the product page), or product-specific policies. Your account has not been deleted, your data is still intact, and it might be possible to regain access to your account.
Why Google disables accounts
Google wants to ensure that everyone has a chance to safely and securely connect and communicate. To help preserve this environment, Google reserves the right to:
Suspend a Google Account from using a particular product or the entire Google Accounts system if there is a violation of the Google Terms of Service , product-specific Terms of Service (available on the product page), or product-specific policies.
Terminate your account at any time, for any reason, with or without notice.
Next steps for disabled accounts
Please start by reviewing the relevant Terms of Service. Then, if you think your account should not have been disabled, please contact us.

I tried to send them emails and messages but they don't reply to me and I have no messages from google in my secondary mailbox (the one I've provided when set up the account).
Really, don't know what is happening...

[Q] Default Google account in Lollipop

I have 3 Google accounts.
1 personal, which is my main account for apps and email. The others are official and education Google accounts.
The personal account was used to set up my phone (Moto X 2014 on Lollipop), before the other two Google accounts were added.
Here is the issue that apps (both Google and non-Google) seem to be picking one of the other accounts as the default account. E.g. when signing up for a new service like Twitter, it would assume that my official account is the main, whilst it is actually the personal. I know that the account can easily be changed by selecting the other, but it does not work for all apps as mentioned below.
The same issue has been described here:
Now when I receive a contact via WhatsApp and I click on it to save, it would automatically save it to the wrong Google account, since the phone considers that to be the main account even though it was not used to set up the phone.
Does anybody have an idea where to change this? I have experienced this on Lollipop on both the Nexus 5 and Moto X 2014. The problem did not occur on Kitkat.
Anybody?
This ****ing sucks. I have the same problem. Some apps just randomly chose an account instead of the first added one.
Why is there no default option?

Need suggestions managing 2 google accounts 1 phone.

Hello,
I have a common phone at home, generally used by everyone in case of emergency.
I have added my google account to same (my main account).
I have made an added another google account to the device.
I want this active to be active for any activity performed on the device..
Specially when installing stuff from playstore or watching youtube or using google app..
If there is anyway.
Or simply please guide me to remove my main account from 2 accounts available.

Is there a solution to detect the correct Google account when multiple Google accounts are present?

This is a very old problem, and Google isn't fixing it for reasons best known to them.
I have multiple Google accounts in my device, each for a specific purpose. I buy apps using one account, while I use another account for backups, adding devices like earphones, speakers, etc.
The problems experienced are as follows:
1. Some of the apps where I have in-app purchases fail to verify the account. For some apps, uninstalling and reinstalling using the right account on Google Play Store resolves this problem, while for others, the solution is to remove the other accounts one by one, until the app successfully verifies the account used to make the in-app purchases.
2. I bought a new pair of earphones that support Fast Pair. When trying to set it up, it was not showing the account that I wanted to add the device to. The only way was to remove the accounts from the device one by one until the account I wanted to use showed up on the Fast Pair screen.
3. Purchases on Google Play Store: Same problem when Google Play Store shows the wrong account for making a purchase. Only way is to remove other accounts one by one until the one you want is selected.
Google isn't offering a way to simply change the account that the user wants to use for any of the above scenarios.
As far as I have seen, the account used during 1st setup (which is usually used for Backup and Restore) is given priority or used as a Default account. And Google doesn't offer a way to simply change the account when a particular scenario demands it.
Is there a solution to this problem.
Thanks.
If your phone's Android supports multi-user-accounts then create per each user a related account

That's far from a solution. And my phone doesn't have the multi user feature either.
Does it mean one can't use multiple Google accounts on a device and get things to work as desired?
