Question Updating while waiting for bootloader - Xiaomi Poco X3 Pro

Hello is updating phone while waiting for bootloader time will reset it?

idk but just wait till you unlock your BL if u have plans to custom roms then don't

No will not. Only removing account will or adding again it again and again.
But if ypu plan custom roms why to update? I had newest miui there was 12.5.1 or something higher but it was ****. Just go to custom.
Now have pixel experience a12 beta and it is great. It was worth to unlock bootloader just to feel how great it is

Thank you

[Q] Unlocked Bootloader, continue to wait or lock and update?

So, it's been a while since 4.4 has come to the S3 and there still doesn't seem to be any good news for those on a locked bootloader. Is it still the general opinion that it would be better to wait and keep the bootloader unlocked or should I give in and update while giving up my bootloader? I personally don't flash aosp or any other roms besides touchwiz and really only want root but I also think resale value (if I decide to sell later) could be a bit better if I keep bootloader unlocked. Anyways, what are you doing? Are you unlocked and waiting to see if we can get 4.4 on an unlocked bootloader? Did you / will you sacrifice bootloader and update to 4.4 and if so, is it / was it worth it?
Thanks!!

I would say that if you don't like to play around with custom rom then update. I'm using stock rooted 4.4 and very happy with it. Custom rom give you more options/features but they come with bugs here and there and time to reflash. If you like trouble free then stock rooted is the way to go.

One of the things to consider when making this decision is this. What benefits/features/options of a custom ROM do you like or find necessary that stock (even rooted) might not offer? For me personally the only quarrels that I have with Samsung stock roms are touchwiz and the bloatware (additional S-Apps). I personally don't use too many of them as Google, among other devs, have better equivalents.

Thats cool
To unlock you boot loader doesn't mean you just want to flash custom roms .. its just the feeling of having complete ownership of your phone
You can be rooted stock and be happy but to be Rooted / Stock / With a unlocked boot loader is total freedom
Example

The freedom to pick and choose what you want to do and how you want to do it
Thanks

I have the same problem with you.I have no choice and I just flashed the elder MIUI with MiFlash by 9008 mode.
Can't unlock mine too,
just did this guide:
https://forum.xda-developers.com/mi-4c/general/guide-unlocking-mi4c-bl-verification-t3336779
ON ANDROID 7 YOU CANNOT UNLOCK BOOTLOADER AS IN THAT GUIDE, IT'S WRITTEN in THREAD, JUST READ IT.
however you have to unlock it in official way. after receive sms wait, wait and wait. I waited 1 month, ONE MONTH, to unlock it. I've unlocked it first with unofficial but ANDROID 7 of xiaomi.eu lock it again, again and again.

I saw directly difference between Resurrection Remix N, multitask, .... This is flagrant.
I downloaded all possible official ROMs, tried unsuccessfully to upgrade to each of them (even the very last dev) and I'm stuck with 8.5.1.0 from xiaomi.eu. This ROM sux alot of power. I wanna jump to another ROM but can't as the upgrade killed my root and TWRP and locked the bootloader. I'm opened to suggestions to avoid asking that SMS unlocker (even if it implies to slide thru 3 ROMs).

Unlock Bootloader BEFORE I take 9.0 Update?

I have not yet unlocked my bootloader or Rooted my device. Although I plan on rooting my device. I've seen a thread about *Remember to unlock your bootloader*
Is it a good idea to do my oem unlock BEFORE updating to P?
ALSO:
if I want to try a custom 8.1 rom, can I still do this AFTER upgrading my system to 9.0?
Thanks
With unlocked bootloader you can do pretty anything. I think yes, you can downgrade, but you have to wipe as usual.
Also remember that unlocking bootloader involves total wipe.

Unlock it as soon as possible, you can never know if Google decides to push a serverside patch to fix it or etc.
Thanks for that. Been a while since I played with Android

You DO NOT have to do a total wipe.
https://forum.xda-developers.com/pixel-xl/how-to/guide-pixel-xl-android-8-1oreo-unlock-t3715279
(it's for the XL - same except for different dloads)
You have 2 slots, and you'll be flashing only one at a time, so the other one will remain the same. TWRP does ask if you want to flash boot.img to both slots when you do so you should just choose the one unless the new boot.img file is the same as the old (haven't checked into it but I wouldn't bet they're the same.) Also, the data and settings in /sdcard/android will change over time so when/if you go to the old android on the other slot, some of the settings are whacked - that's been my experience the couple of times I've done it. I don't know if 9 does anything different in /sdcard/android (probably not) but that could create some problems.
I dirty flashed 9 over 8.1 in one of my slots - I could switch to the other to see what's what? So could you and report back?
Haven't done anything yet.. been going back and forth with Assurant/ project fi for a damn replacement since I haven't been able to make calls or use my headphone jack.. and not sure if I should bother unlocking right now..
I was hoping the 9.0 update might fix my issues. But, from what I've read, it's a hardware problem..

Someone else suggested it was a permissions issue:

Unlocking bootloader and rooting, need to wait 168 hours

I just got an Poco X3. I would like to root this phone but first I need to unlock the bootloader first.
After going through the unlocking application, I get a message saying I need to wait 168 hours before I can unlock my phone?!? WTF? Why can't they let me unlock it now?
Then I saw there is this tool called Mi Unlock Tool Mod. Where can I find this tool and does it work for Poco X3? After unlocking the bootloader, will I be able to root the phone using Magisk or I need to wait for the kernel to be released?
Please advice, thanks!
The advice is ... Wait

Everyone here suffered that. It's general Xiaomi policy, you want your phone unlocked, you wait one week.
I am currently going through the same "waiting" process as you . I've read on most posts that attempting to bypass the wait timer might increase the waiting time even further.
Truth be told, it's nothing new for me. The Samsung S9 when brand new also had a wait time of 1 week before the bootloader could be unlocked.
I was able to unlock my bootloader last Friday. I used the week I had to wait to familiarize myself this phone, all the needed procceses and ROMs. So, just use the time and start to look forward to unlocking it in a week. ?
Thanks guys for confirming about the wait time. I shall wait for 1 week then. In the meantime, what rooting the phone using magisk? I am also checking if possible to flash it with a clean rom that is like pixel experience. I do not like bloated miui.
Imagine they made you wait 1 full year before you can unlock your phone. Now that would suck big-time wouldn't it?

Relocking the bootloader after vendor build change

So, I have the MIUI 12 EEA on a Mi 10 Lite, and it's not the stock ROM but the Vodafone build (QJIEUVF).
As there's the new Android 11 update coming, I'd like to have that and not wait for Vodafone to release its build, as that's notoriously slow.
I tried the official Updater app, to install the XM build, but it says the network carrier is different. Seems like the only way is to unlock the bootloader. However, it seems that means losing Netflix and Google Pay support?
Now, can I unlock the bootloader, flash the QJIEUXM with XiaoMiToolV2, and then relock the bootloader with Clean and Lock? Would that lead to a softbrick? Any other downside to doing that, such as losing OTA updates?
I tried to find info, but it's really hard to find any reliable information anywhere
Hi, I am on the same situation as you, did you successfully relocked your phone?
