I successfully rooted my SM-A127F U3 with this manual. There are two problems.
USB tethering to Debian 10 and Ubuntu 20.04 is broken after rooting.
Second problem is that I can't update my service provider.
First time rooting I replaced only the AP. Later I tried replacing everything. Once with CSC and once with HOME_CSC nothing works. When I patch with the original AP there is no CID manager problem. Tethering I didn't try

A patched magisk is needed for this device.
2. Download patched magisk
3. Use zarchiver to extract the apxxxxxx....md5 section from the firmware.
4. Use patched magisk to patch the ap section. Allow the extra files.
Click on install and select patch file.
The output will be a patched tar file.
This method will give a patched vbmeta so twrp will then work properly.

Bruh, no. I mean yes one can root that way but a developer of magisk suggest not to use this way instead patch boot.img for your device using magisk and then flash it.

[GUIDE]Rooting, EDXposed and SafetyNet for Realme C12

Before doing anything to device, keep a copy of Stock ROM from here in your PC or SD Card.
Rooting with Magisk
Tutorial:
The procedure is the same whether you're on the stock RealmeUI Rom or on a custom GSI (treble) one or on a custom ROM.
Step 0 - Go to extracted platform tools folder in your PC and Shift + Right Click and choose Open Command Window here and connect the device to PC.
Step 1 - Boot to Recovery with adb reboot recovery and run below commands in command prompt by connecting the device to PC
Code:
adb root
adb pull /dev/block/by-name/boot boot.img
adb reboot
After running after commands you will get boot.img in your platform tools folder of PC. Copy the boot.img to mobile.
Note:- Above commands won't work if you are on GSI/custom ROM rom with stock recovery. So flash TWRP and follow above to get boot.img or use root debugging in ROM if available.
Step 2 - Download and install the latest Magisk app from here on your phone.
Click on the latest Magisk-vX.Y.apk you see in the list to start the download, open the file and install.
Step 3 - On your phone, open up Magisk app.
Click the Magisk Install button as shown below.
Then Select and Patch a File.
Go look for your boot.img you previously copied to your phone and pick it.
Click Let's go! and wait for Magisk to complete the process!
{
"lightbox_close": "Close",
"lightbox_next": "Next",
"lightbox_previous": "Previous",
"lightbox_error": "The requested content cannot be loaded. Please try again later.",
"lightbox_start_slideshow": "Start slideshow",
"lightbox_stop_slideshow": "Stop slideshow",
"lightbox_full_screen": "Full screen",
"lightbox_thumbnails": "Thumbnails",
"lightbox_download": "Download",
"lightbox_share": "Share",
"lightbox_zoom": "Zoom",
"lightbox_new_window": "New window",
"lightbox_toggle_sidebar": "Toggle sidebar"
}
Step 4 - Link your phone to your PC, and grab the file the Magisk app created. It's located in your downloads folder, called magisk_patched_blAh.img.
Step 5 - Paste it where your ADB & Fastboot (Platform Tools) are located, along with the vbmeta.img by downloading from here.
You should now have a folder like this with:
adb(.exe)
fastboot(.exe)
magisk_patched.img
vbmeta.img
Extra files from the platform tools
Step 6 - Link your phone to your PC with the USB cable if not done already.
Step 7 - Shift + Right click in an empty space inside the folder we prepared in Step 7, and click Open Command window here.
Inside the Command window, input the following commands line by line, in order.
Code:
adb reboot bootloader
fastboot devices
And make sure your device shows up, should be a bunch of numbers and letters, a couple spaces, and fastboot.
If nothing does, go back to Step 7 and try again.
Code:
fastboot --disable-verity --disable-verification flash vbmeta vbmeta.img
fastboot flash boot magisk_patched_blAh.img
fastboot reboot
You're done! Your phone will reboot, hopefully, without a hitch! Open up Magisk app, and check that it's installed.
That said, you will have issues leaving it like this. You need to hide the fact that your phone is rooted, there's no downside to doing it.
Check out the Passing SafetyNet tutorial further down below, it's quick and easy.
For more info, see official Magisk installation instructions at https://topjohnwu.github.io/Magisk/install.html
Passing SafetyNet (Only possible with Magisk. Not with SuperUser on GSI's)
Tutorial:
Enable Magisk Hide inside Magisk app's settings and Install Universal SafetyNet Fix module.
Reboot and enjoy! You're all set and SafetyNet should pass just fine.
Q: Hey, I rooted/edXposed my phone, and now Netflix won't even open, or doesn't work properly, what's up with that?
A:
Well, fortunately, there's an easy fix if you have Magisk. Install the liboemcrypto disabler Magisk module, activate it and reboot.
Credits:-
@Akitake for his guide at here
Now we have root.
We can uninstall system apps with below command in Termux
Code:
su
pm uninstall --user 0 <package_name>
We can use Package Viewer app to know package names.
Getting EDXposed
Spoiler: Click to Show content
Tutorial:
I very much discourage to EdXposed your phone unless you have a very good reason for it.
It's a pain to pass SafetyNet.
It doesn't get updated often.
It has very niche use cases for which it's actually worth it.
That said, I explain it here for people who know what they're getting into and want instructions on how to do it.
This procedure requires to be rooted with Magisk.
Step 1
Inside Magisk app, go to the Modules tab.
Click the search button (bottom right) and search Riru.
Install the Riru module by Rikka.
Activate it and Reboot.
Step 2
Download and install the latest EdXposed Manager, the same way you did with Magisk app when rooting.
Step 3
Open it up, go to the ALPHA tab and click install/update.
It'll start a file download.
Step 4
Go back to Magisk app, Modules tab, except this time click Install from Storage.
Point to the .zip file you just got, located in the Downloads folder of your phone.
At the end of the installation, click reboot.
Step 5
Let's double check your installation is operational.
Go to EdXposed Manager, first tab.
It should say EdXposed Framework is active.
You're done!
You should now be able to install EdXposed modules.
That said, you will have issues with certain apps leaving it like this.
You should to hide the fact that your phone is EdXposed.
Check out the Passing SafetyNet tutorial further down below!
For more info, see https://forum.xda-developers.com/t/...or-of-xposed-oreo-pie-q-r-2020-07-19.4070199/
Passing SafetyNet With EDXposed installed
Tutorial:
Again, I highly recommend not EdXposing your phone and sticking to just Magisk if you can help it.
You should also know that this method will show you're passing SafetyNet inside Magisk but it's a pain to do and isn't as well hidden as Magisk alone.
Step 1 - Do the step for Rooted phones listed above if not done already.
Step 2 - In EdXposed Manager, get the HiddenCore Module and activate it.
Step 3 - Now, in the side-menu: Compat List > tick HiddenCore Module.
Step 4 - Then, go to Settings > Framework > Enable "App List mode".
Step 5 - Finally, Applications(Black List) and tick: Android Services Library, Chrome, Google Play services, Google Play Store, Google Services Framework
Reboot and enjoy! You're all set and SafetyNet should pass.

Ah, got the culprit.
Magisk hide and Official Modules Repo are no longer part of Magisk from the developer.
To get those back, we can use older version of Magisk.
I have updated the Magisk apk link for UI 2.0. Uninstall Magisk by choosing 'Uninstall Magisk' in main screen and root again with the updated link.
Also, Universal SafetyNet fix older versions will just work without Riru. You can try https://github.com/kdrag0n/safetynet-fix/releases/download/v1.2.0/safetynet-fix-v1.2.0.zip
Thanks

Also, Universal SafetyNet fix older versions will just work without Riru. You can try https://github.com/kdrag0n/safetynet-fix/releases/download/v1.2.0/safetynet-fix-v1.2.0.zip

How to root a system without knowing a bit about rooting? Plz Help

Respected Forum Members and Readers,
I am an Android Rooting Enthusiast and I am totally new to this realm of hacking into the device and gaining its full access. I have just known about it through videos on youtube and have myself tried to root my device Samsung Galaxy J7 Pro by following videos not knowing really how the things work in actual and ended up losing original firmware. But since then I have been trying to find how to actually root a system by even reading the Book on Hacking by XDA Developers written by Jason Tyler. I have somewhat came to know the internal working but I am also a bit afraid as to try again to root my device as i really don't know how to do it till now and this time i can really not lose my device. But i still want to gain access of it and explore the infinite advantages of having a rooted device. Plz if anybody can help me walk my way through it.
Rooting a device's Android simply means to add "superuser" ( AKA root ) functionality to Android OS, will say add an Android user with elevated rights ( comparable to Administrator in Windows OS).
Because your phone runs Android 7 ( Nougat ) IMO the most easiest method to root your device's Android: Replace Android's Toybox binary - what is a restricted version by default - by unrestricted Toybox v0.8.5.

it's very simple, i will try to be less technical but bear with me,
so, rooting is simply gaining access to systems core, by core i mean ability to access, modify and write into system (structure and file).
it is a great responsibility, as a simple stupid move can cause system to crash and may also brick your device.
------------------------------ but, don't worry as we here in XDA are there to help you,
as, the device in question is a Samsung j7 pro, normal rooting methods will not work as Samsung by default make it difficult to root it's phone.
you may refer this article to root your phone click here.
----------------------------- but it's some what technical so, i will explain, what is written there in next post.
so, about what's in the article,
--------------------- first things first, you may cause damage to your device so, just to make sure i will not be responsible for any damage.
let's begin, what i will tell you about?
ODIN (a software by Samsung to flash original firmware {that comes with phone})
TWRP(custom recovery, a tool that is installed (flashed using odin )on phone to flash custom rom)
Some tweaks files like RMM State By-Pass.zip and no-verity-opt-encrypt don't think much about them, they just bypass some restriction set by Samsung so, that rooting is successful. you can flash them through TWRP.
you can get link through the article for all required files so,
Download Samsung driver from here,
install them on your PC
download ODIN from here,
after it, open settings app >> about phone >> software info >> then click build number 5-10 times till you are a developer option appears.
after enabling developer option go to developer option, find it using search bar in settings app, it should be inside about phone section.
inside developer option enable USB debugging and also enable OEM unlock option.
after enabling OEM unlock option -----part 2 below.
this was part one if you got all till now you are good to go,
Connect your USB cable with PC. Switch off your device. Then, enter into Download mode. To do this; press and hold down the Volume Down +Home+ Power buttons and connect your micro USB Cable.

}
Press the Volume Up button to continue when you see the warning message.
Now, connect the Samsung Galaxy J7 Pro mobile to the computer via USB cable.
download and extract odin downloaded earlier.
launch odin by clicking on odin.exe file
After connecting the Samsung device, click on the PDA/PA button to browse/search and get the TWRP from where you saved it on your PC. Also, navigate to “options” and save settings like shown below.
after all this your phone should reboot automatically, and voila you have successfully flashed twrp on your device.
now power off your phone,
boot into twrp by pressing Volume Up + Home+ Power Button
then, it will boot into twrp.
Select Wipe->Advance Wipe->Select Cache Data
Return to Home of TWRP select Install
Select Magisk.zip (you can download magisk from github of magisk or from here )
slide to install.
same process for RMM State By-Pass.zip and no-verity-opt-encrypt install file one by one.
after all the process you should reboot into system.
then download magisk app and now you have root access, enjoy and like the post if you want.
@[email protected]
Thank You for taking pains to elaborate the process. i just want to ask one question are you sure this method won't brick my device this time. Sorry i am being like that because the phone i have mentioned is my mother's so she would be really pissed if it does not go right. And if my device gets stuck in boot loop rather being bricked can it still be recovered...

don't worry bro if you follow every step properly it will not brick, but to be on safe side backup internal storage and app data before starting to root your moms phone.
and if some thing goes wrong i am here for you, generally speaking phones does not brick during magisk installation.

take note that in order to root Android by means of Magisk, as recommended / advised by @[email protected], neither ODIN nor TWRP is needed: flashing TWRP in this case - as a necessary prerequisite - is an absolute overkill.
All you need is to install Magisk Root app.

if you know anything about magisk then you should know that it is not a one click root tool, you need to flash magisk for you to gain root access.
next, yes you only need to boot twrp but in case of samsung we need custom recovery to fix errors so it's good to have it flashed. odin helps remove complexity, and is safe to use.
i was trying to provide best stable and tested path and don't interfere if you don't know anything about topic, i humble request not to confuse people @jwoegerbauer

Ok so... in the end what i have understood is that:
1. I need to have Magisk.zip, RMM and no verity encrypt files on Phone.
2. I need TWRP, odin and android usb driver by samsung for windows 10 installed on pc.
3. I need to first flash TWRP using odin. Boot up my device
4. Then boot to TWRP, wipe cache, and flash Magisk.zip, RMM and no verity one by one as in one thing at a time using TWRP. Boot up and install magisk app.
If i missed something, disordered anything or have any suggestions then plz reply. Thank You

Question Anybody knows when could we root?

Hello guys. Does anybody know when would we be able to root our beloved Flip 4? I haven't seen any thread for it. Is there something that's blocking the devs from discovering a root method? Just trying to understand.
Thanks!

Probably just need to wait for John Woo (developer of magisk) to update it for the fold and flip 4 series. You can try asking in the magisk forums if anyone knows anything.
if you can unlock the bootloader (not possible on the US versions) download the stock firmware and transfer the AP file to your phone.
then install magisk and patch the AP file, transfer back and odin flash the patched file and you should have root.

if you can get into the development options in settings you should be able to see OEM unlock toggle but be warned if you choose it it will wipe all your data..!
1) go into settings/about phone
2) then software information tap on build number 7 times
3) go back to settings and you should see development options at the bottom
4) if the OEM unlock is there choose it and it will reboot to the bootloader screen
5) it will then ask you do you really want to unlocck it, if you choose to yes it wipe all data and you have to start from scratch re-installing everything
6) download the latest firmware and extract it to a new folder on your PC
7) copy the AP file to your phone
8) download and install the latest Magisk apk
9) in Magisk choose the top option 'install' then select patch a file
10) after patching transfer the file back to your PC (it can be found in the download file on your phone)
11) download and install Odin on your PC
12) open Odin and put the AP patched file in the AP slot and the CSC file in the CSC slot
13) after flashing and rebooted install the Magisk app again and it should confirm being rooted after Magisk reboots the phone

I'm not able to get past the step #3 on this phone, its locked down.
Can access recovery but the "wipe data" option is removed.
Any advice? It's a demo unit with an IMEI number I kinda got scammed into buying, trying ot figure out if its a lost cause.

How To Guide [DEPRECATED] TWRP/GSI for Android 12 firmware

DEPRECATED GUIDE
INSTEAD USE Could-Chaplain's TWRP 12.1 v2.00.1-alpha+
This is a solution for those, like me, who let their phone upgrade to Android 12 and can't downgrade to A11.
It's base on Could-Chaplain's TWRP for A11 firmware (great thanks to you sir). I'm not a developer, it's just a makeshift job.
Base on :
TWRP v1.02.2-alpha
Firmware ("Build version") : A226BXXU5BVH2 (works even if you have another firmware version in your phone as long as it's an A12)
Of course, all of this is at your own risk. I am not responsible for lost warranty, lost data or any other damage to your device, neither for blowing the bridge on the river Kwaï.
How to root and flash TWRP :
Prerequisites :
Unlock Bootloader
Odin on PC
1. Reboot device to Download Mode (longpres vol+ / vol- and plug USB cable)
2. Download the magisk_a226b_boot.tar and the twrp12_a226b_recovery.tar from attachments
3. Start Odin on PC
4. In Odin press on Options and untick Auto Reboot
5. Flash magisk_a226b_boot.tar with Odin (In Odin click on AP, select the magisk_boot.tar and press start)
(It roots you phone, if you don't want go directly to step 7 with blank vbmeta.img (in magisk_a226b_boot.tar) in USERDATA slot (don't forget to TAR vbmeta.img).)
6. After flash magisk_a226b_boot.tar without errors press in Odin on Reboot download if possible, device reboots to Download Mode
7. Flash twrp12.1_a226b_recovery.tar with Odin (In Odin click on AP, select the twrp12.1_a226b_recovery.tar and press start)
8. If all is flashed without errors longpress power and vol- on device
9. (The most complicated part, if it doesn't work restart from step 1. For me it seems to be easier if Auto Reboot is tick in Odin Options before step 7, in this case no step 8, be quick.)
Instantly after device goes Blackscreen press and hold power and vol+ for 5-8 seconds to boot to TWRP
10. In TWRP press on Advanced, than on Terminal, write "multidisabler" and press on the blue button
11. Repeat step 10
12. Go back in TWRP main menu, press on Wipe then on Format data, type "yes" and press on the blue button.
12. Go back in TWRP main menu, press on Reboot, then on Recovery
How to flash GSI :
Prerequisites :
TWRP on your phone
adb/fastboot on your PC
1. Boot to TWRP
2. In TWRP press Wipe, Advanced Wipe, select Dalvik, data, cache and swipe to wipe
2. After wipe go back to main screen and press Reboot, then press Fastboot
3. Device reboots to TWRP with Fastboot Interface
4. Now plugin device to PC and open a terminal
5. Type : fastboot devices
6. If device is found type : fastboot flash system PATH/TO/YOUR/GSI.img
Ignore "Invalid sparse file format at header magic" message
7. After flash completed without errors type : fastboot reboot
Tested GSI (list) : crDroid 8.10 (A12) and LineageOS 20 TD-based (A13) both vanilla with MinMicroG release, work fine (but no 5G and no VoLTE/VoWifi).
After GSI installation, if you haven't internet on apps, refer to this post for explanation/workaround of a MediaTek-specific kernel bug.

It depends. A226BXXU5BVH3 is MODEM/CP version. If your PDA/AP version is A226BXXU5BVH2, it's good. Otherwise I'm not sure it will work, I didn't try so I don't know. You can try and if it doesn't work see the Credits part of the post to create TWRP for your AP version.

A226BXXU5BVH3 is a "Basebande version", it isn't the good information to watch.
A226BXXU5BVH2 is a "Build number", you need this information.
You can also watch "Android security update". A226BXXU5BVH2 "Build number" corresponding to 1 July 2022 "Android security version".
Go to Parameter/About device/Software informations
As you can see on a colleague's phone screenshot he has A226BXXU5BVH3 "Basebande version" and A226BXXS5BVI6 "Build version" (corresponding to 1 September 2022 "Android security update").
If you have A226BXXU5BVH2 as "Build number", it's good.
If you have A226BXXS5BVI6 or A226BXXS5BVJ2 (depends of your country/operator) as "Build number", I'm pretty sure the process works, cause it's Android 12 too, but I didn't try.
In this case, if you don't want to risk, you can downgrade to A226BXXU5BVH2 "Build number" with Odin (explanation here).

As long as it's an ab and arm64 version, it will be fine. Googled or vanilla, read only or read-write system, with or without superuser, ...as you want.
If you choose one of these CherishOS A12 or A13, all releases seem to be possible.

A226BXXU5BVH2 is a "Build number", you need this information.
You can also watch "Android security update". A226BXXU5BVH2 "Build number" corresponding to 1 July 2022 "Android security version".
Go to Parameter/About device/Software informations
View attachment 5767847

Thanks for the reply. Yes, I have the exact same version mentioned in your screenshot. I am gonna download A226BXXU5BVH2 version firmware from Sammobile and then will try to flash TWRP as given above. Correct?

Correct.
With A226BXXU5BVH2 version, it's sure the process works.
But with A226BXXS5BVI6 version, I'm 90% sure it works (cause I didn't try). If you want to try and reply the result after, it's wonderful (if it don't work, you just have to flash A226BXXU5BVH2 with odin, so it's not very risky but very kind for all).

I have tried this process on A226BXXS5BVI6 and it worked fine. I did't have to downgrade to A226BXXU5BVH2. Thanks very much.

Thanks.
I modified the explanations to take this information into account.

As long as it's an ab and arm64 version, it will be fine. Googled or vanilla, read only or read-write system, with or without superuser, ...as you want.
If you choose one of these CherishOS A12 or A13, all releases seem to be possible.

Also I tried the Cherish GSIs you linked but when I do "fastboot flash system gsi.img" it says "Invalid sparse file format at header magi" (not magic or something it really says "magi") can you help me (again) I'm pretty new to all this samsung stuff and GSIs

I'm sorry but I'm not a specialist (newbie too) and I never seen this so I don't know.
Maybe you GSI.img is corrupted, try to download and uncompress it again.
I also advise you to begin the process again (or just flash from TWRP) with the new Could-Chaplain's TWRP 12.1 v2.00.1-alpha instead of my twrp12.1_a226b_recovery.tar which is just a makeshift job.
Touch dosent work is there a fix for this?
