Question micro stuttering when playing videos - Xiaomi Poco X3 Pro

Hi, I bought the poco x3 pro recently and I have noticed that in the videos I have a little micro stuttering depending on the video quality, the faster and resolution I have, the more micro stuttering I see.
However, they are undemanding videos for the processor of the poco x3 pro, and those same videos work fine on a pocophone f1 that I also have.
I did a hard-reset and it hasn't helped. The only thing that worked for me to eliminate the micro stuttering was to enable in the " developer options" the option to "disable HW overlay".
However, I guess I can't always leave it with that one enabled. does anyone know what could be the problem? I'm on Miui updated to the latest version.
Some videos where micro stuttering is very easily appreciated are these here, at 60fps any of them goes bad for me.
To be better appreciated you have to view from the youtube application or the vanced version.
is it possible that this is a general error of the tianma panels? Should I return it to the store?
sorry for my bad English

I have tested a friend's x3 pro and it also has this problem, but much less annoying than mine. So it seems to be a general problem.
does anyone know if xiaomi is aware of this problem and if they are going to fix it? I hesitate whether to return it to the store.

u running it on 4k?
can poco run 4k in the first place? i dunno =)
edit:
oh it can run 4k and i dun hav your issue.
but vanced youtube seem to be buggy about 4k.....it crash pretty easily

If the pocophone f1 can do it, why can't the x3 pro?
Anyway on my x3 pro I get micro stuttering even at 720 and 1080
It has nothing to do with the application, if I download the video it doesn't look good either.

It has the official Miui

I just tested on my poco, and I have this issue too.
A more irritating issue I have is a stuttering problem with audio, whenever I do something camera/audio related on my phone, while playing music. Listening on blutooth it also glitches every so often.
I might try returning over this issue. unless I find a fix soon. So far haven't seen anyone else with this issue, these videos stuttering issues are the closest I seem to have found.
If I cannot return, I shall try ArrowOS and report back

I would like to try another ROM, but that might be a problem when returning it to the store.

I have the 8/256 version on 12.5.2 Global EU MIUI. I can confirm the first posters fix. Enable Developer Options and then tick "Disable HW Overlays"
Videos run smooth. I even played 4k HDR 60fps Gemini Man clips on Youtube Vanced, smooth as butter.
Can anyone say if the last MIUI 12 update fixed this problem?

I can't say anything about YouTube Vanced, but with Firefox I don't have any stuttering on YouTube with the 4K 60 fps clips you mentioned.
6gb device running MIUI 13.0.1.0 EU.

Hi. I'm on the official pixel experience 12l and I noticed this problem a long time ago and had it on every ROM. YouTube was lagging behind the scroll. Indeed "Disable HW Overlays" helped with YT. Thanks a lot! It was very annoying! I hope developers include this in their custom ROMs because it really spoils the fun with Android, and Vayu is a very powerful processor. On other phones, I did not notice this problem with YT either.

I've just tested Firefox the same, and there is stuttering. So it looks like it has been fixed in MIUI 13.
I'm not fond of updating to 13, because I've heard it slows down the phone.

Apparently it's advisable to turn the setting off again once you've finished with videos. It causes the GPU to work harder causing battery drain and heat.
I would have thought that custom roms wouldn't have this problem. I wonder if the new POCO F4 GT has the same issue?

Nothing heats up on Pixel Experience and the battery lasts long despite turning off this function. So it's not the fault of that. This is a ROM that effectively eliminated the heating of the phone, and on other ROMs I always had a hot phone. I recommend

I can't say anything about performance in terms of gaming, because I simply don't play any games, but I haven't had any negative (performance) experiences with MIUI 13 in everyday use. It feels just as fluid as it did under version 12 and 12.5. It may be that some Xiaomi apps/services are slowing down the device on MIUI 13, but I've debloated pretty much all of them.
The only negative thing about MIUI 13 is that the primary colors are used based on the colors of the wallpaper. There are third party apps that can be used to change it, but it doesn't really work perfectly for me (without root). And in dark mode, very dark fonts are used for notifications, which are quite difficult to read.

On MIUI 13 i don't have this issue. Tested on Opera browser.

Looks like it's official then, you have to move onto MIUI 13 to fix this problem. I've just done the last update of 12, 12.5.5.0. And the problem persists.
I just need to buck up courage to take the leap now
Anyone know if we are gonna get MIUI 14?

[Q] OnePlus One Stuttering

Hey all, I'm currently running the latest nightly build of CM 12.1. Everything seems to work flawless. My only only issue that still seems to persist (still happens in CM 12s and Oxygen OS, I also cleaned wiped) is this micro stutter. Its most obvious in games like Flappy Bird. It nearly makes it unplayable at times. I tried switching to performance mode, but it still happens. Any thing you guys would recommend?
Anybody?
I have no idea what you're talking about. A micro stutter? Could you perhaps send us a video (screen record) of the stutter or a better explanation?
Where do you see these stutters? Do you see graphical glitches?
If it only happens in a specific game, it might be a problem with the game itself. Try contacting the developer.
Fwiw, I'm also on CM12.1 but I don't play a lot of games on my phone so I can't say for sure

Thanks for the reply! It seems to be in every game I play and in some of the UI. Its literally this micro stutter. I'll definitely send a video to better show it, its just hard to explain Its like the frame rate cant stay smooth, instead of running steady and smooth, its has these short pauses. I noticed there were some other people on here that had the same issue, and then there's a bunch of people without it, I hope its not a hardware issue.

Its difficult to get an accurate screen record because the video itself doesn't show an accurate frame rate. This thread has the same exact issue as me http://forum.xda-developers.com/oneplus-one/help/63hz-refresh-rate-causing-major-t2834227

LineageOS 15 OverHeating problem

When i use MIUI (stock rom) on my Mi5S plus, temperature was normal. When i played PUBG on MiUI its heats maybe up to 40 cel and trotling. But When i install LineageOS, which during installing heats, i just use Chrome and this heats to 40 cel. When i try to play Pubg, its heats over 60 cel. Whats can be wrong? And how to fix this? I don't play games on my phone anymore so it is a non-issue for me. But I don't think phone heats up anyway. I used to play Real Racing 2 and some plane landing game in 3D with good graphics requirements when it was in LOS 14.1 and phone never heated during those days. I'm sure it won't if I do it in Oreo as well. But again, I haven't played games on this phone since so idk. I am on AEX right now and phone is working fine. Also battery, sound and everything else works perfectly fine for me.

Same with MIUI
I have the same issue with MIUI.
I installed Lineage a time ago, and I started realizing that when playing Pokémon Go when charging with a power bank, the phone heats up a lot and the game is not playable anymore.
The, I reinstalled MIUI with the latest updates, but the same problem here. I can play if I'm not charging, but if it is sunny and the room temperature is over 25ºCelsius, then I cannot play anymore.
It happened with Pokémon Go, Ingress, Tsum Tsum, FIFA... every game I tested, it is unplayable with this issue

I got the update to android Q yesterday. This is full review for that update.
1. Performance: Performance is the same and in some cases Android Q is a bit faster and better.
2. Battery: The Screen on time is almost the same for me(only few minutes worse)
3. Main Camera: The quality is the same on Stock app. Haven't tested GCam
4. Front Camera: The quality is a bit worse and yellow on Stock app. Haven't tested GCam
5. Storage: I had the same free space on Q as i had on P
6. Gaming: Same performance and a bit better FPS on some games.
7. Boot-up Time: Almost if not the same as Pie
8. App Launching Time: Quite faster in some cases.
---------------------------------MIUI PROBLEMS AFTER UPDATE--------------------------------------
I noticed small lags and studders when opening the recents menu and when i opened a folder
General Performance is fine but the poor front camera performance and the small lags
annoy me a lot. I will most probably flash LineageOS 17.1 Android Q from "coderz" to resolve
all of the issues i encountered on MIUI. I will inform you if i notice something else.:good::laugh:
Camera quality is lower than before
Thank You for this short review. I've just got the update notification and now I'm not going to install it. I'll wait some time to see others users comments about it.
Currently iam having miui global 11.0.8.When will i receive the new update..
I installed the update. Results:
Camera quality is the same. I didn't experienced that yellowish on front so the front camera I have the same quality as before. Performance is little bit higher. More smooth system responses. I consider this update as great. No bugs I noticed
No notice no difference in quality of photos.
Applying to both, front and back
Sent from my Mi 9 Lite using Tapatalk
No problems on selfie camera here...All working as good as android 9

Oneplus 7 Pro best AOSP ROM

Hello,
I'm new to the Oneplus 7 Pro (not new to rooting) and I was looking for the best AOSP ROM. Would like to know people's opinion which is the best one with no (huge) buggs.
Personally I prefer Havoc OS. I've tried PA quartz 2 and PE ROM but the automatic brightness didn't seem to work for me properly on either of those. Not sure if it was the ROM itself or something I had done incorrectly
New PA Treskmod is out and incredibly stable and has had the best battery on any ROM I've tried. I've used most AOSP and Omni ROMs and have to say this has by far been the best in terms of smoothness and battery. Paired with Neutrino kernel, it's been quite nice. Search in Telegram if interested in viewing the discussion thread for it.
Only 3 builds deep thus far, but haven't encountered any bugs or issues.

I don't own the phone, unfortunately. I just spotted the full manual camera mode in a video review.
As a reluctant owner of this particular phone, I can say with utter certainty that api2 is enabled, but no mod I've tried has installed successfully.

That's good to hear.
I know it's a bit unrelated to the topic at hand but... would you recommend this phone to a casual user like me who just wants to use it for multimedia (YouTube, VLC etc.), What'sApp, Reddit, Twitter, snapping some photos (mostly in broad daylight) and maybe some lightweight 2D games here and there (Angry Birds etc.)?
I don't care much about app loading times, as long as the UI is smooth and stutter-free.
Thanks!

Unfortunately, 3GB variant isn't available in my country. There's either the 9A 2GB or 9C in both 2GB and 3GB variants. I was hoping to install the lightweight Android 11 Go Edition GSI (not a big fan of MIUI) some time in the future, but it appears to be impossible at the moment.
Do you think I should avoid this phone altogether and look for something else?
Thanks!

The phone isn't a bad one per say, with light use you can probably get quite a bit out of it. Especially after rooting becomes available and you can disable some of the bloat (yeah, never thought I'd say Android One and Bloatware in reference to the same device). It can run games with a decent performance and, of course the battery is what you'd expect from a 5000mah battery in a low spec phone. Battery backup for the win.
