Follow the process on the linked page above If you don't already have the Android SDK and ADB installed, you'll need to do that, or eventually just install Minimal ADB and Fastboot.
Edit: apparently got ninja'd.
Edit2: ups, apparently I also suck at reading questions - so unless you're looking to unlock your bootloader, just follow robkellie11's link.
You can root without unlocking bootloader Bro, downgrade to 5.0.1 and use kingroot root
I also want to root the z3 5.1.1. Can i restore it back after root and unlocked bootloader so i can still use the warranty?

If you Backup your TA Partition, you can restore the DRM Keys and your bootloader status, there for you should be able to use your warranty IF you're on a stock rom while sending your phone for repairs etc.
You can backup your TA Partition by using THIS

You can't flash that .kdz because it's not for Boost, and the method to write to the system.img for 5.1.2 won't work for 6.0 (for whatever reason). As of right now your only option is to send it to LG. We have a locked bootloader (apparently a recovery on standby though) and no CM/PAC/PA/etc.
I'm on the same boat, any solution yet?
You need to accept USB debugging always prompt and access to a computer that is all that is needed
Go to Getex kk-mm bootloader unlock thread on XDA under s5 verizon forum
Use method 3 adb method and
Follow it until you get to step where it says pull cid this is your current cid that is being copied to a viewable text file on your phone
look at text file
if starts with 15 congratulations you can unlock your boot loader
If it says 11 unfortunately you can't unlock your bootloader
Noob here, preparing to root and install a rom for first time. I can't seem to find the process for identifying my phone's CID. Will someone kindly point me to a guide or instruct on how to do this?
Thanks in advance.

If you are able to unlock your device's bootloader and flash TWRP onto it, then you can use Magisk to root your device.
