TWRP & Stylo 6 - General Topics

I don't know much about rooting a phone but I can use adb now and was wo ndering if someone could tell me how to install TWRP?? I cant seem to find it on (TWRP) website.

There isn't a working one yet, but one is under construction, have you already unlocked your bootloader? That is a requirement

i just unlock it from developer options right?

No, technically your supposed to have a code from LG to properly unlock their bootloaders but they are no longer doing that, there's a tool called mtkclient that will unlock it in bootrom mode and get past the security that LG has put in place.

ever get it ?

Is there an TWRP for Stylo 6?

Root LG Stylo 2 (LS775) version LS775ZV5 (VM Variant)

I've been combing through various threads and haven't really found anything specific to the LG Stylo 2. However have found a root and TWRP guide for LG Stylo 2 Plus
http://forum.xda-developers.com/android/development/recovery-twrp-v3-lg-stylo-2-plus-t3482169
It seems the first thing we need to figure out is how to get the phone into fastboot and oem-unlock. Seems there are guides for the Stylo 2 plus, however the same instructions don't work for the Stylo 2.
Seems there should not be too much difference between these phones to unlock bootloader and get TWRP on here.
Anyone have any input?

you cannot root any lg phones, marshmallow and up, unless they are t-mobile or metropcs. The reason is tmobile and metropcs got LG to allow their bootloader to be unlocked. This is the prerequisite for changing kernel permissions. Sorry
Is there a method to enable fastboot on non tmobile & metropcs devices
Is there anyway that fastboot can somehow be enabled on non tmobile & metropcs devices so they actually boot into fastboot with adb reboot bootloader or some other command

LG Harmony - No Fastboot?

Sup people,
I bought a LG Harmony (cricket) as a quick replacement phone and was looking to root it. None of the one click root apps work so I figured I try a computer method. I seen a tutorial to root the K10/K20 (which is basically what the Harmony is so I've heard?) ..so I figured it would work, but I just cant get into fastboot. I tried the vol down thing as well as adb commands and it just won't go into fastboot. Is fastboot patched or something or is there another new method? Using 7.0 Nougat.
Bootloader Unlock
Hello...I have the LG Harmony as well. Just got it. I'm looking to modify the phone as well. Now, I'm a newbie as they say. Although I have rooted phones before, and successfully un-bricked a galaxy s2 a few years back. Anyway, you might go to the LG developer website and navigate to their unlocking the bootloader page. It gives you access to their tool (I believe) and has step by step instructions on how to go about unlocking the bootloader.
I'll be doing that soon myself. Have fun!
I went to the LG site already to look to see if they have a tool for the Harmony but I couldn't find anything. I had seen something on YouTube about a LG root tool as wrk but havent tried that. Let me know if you made any progress. I won't be able to try anything new until after I get off work.
Bootloader Unlock
Try going to mobile.developer.lge.com
There's an Unlock Bootloader option you can click on towards the bottom.
LG Harmony isn't listed under supported devices.
Bump

Will this bootloader be unlockable?

Does anyone know if the bootloader on this phone can be unlocked? I am thinking about buying it in Canada but LG phones in Canada tend not to have unlockable bootloaders.
Bump.
What stops us from having root on this thing?
Also curious about this too. I can't find anything
This is the official list of devices that LG will allow for an unlocked bootloader: https://developer.lge.com/resource/mobile/RetrieveBootloader.dev
The ONE is not on the list. So unless LG changes its mind, or someone finds an exploit, we are SOL.
The G7 One has bootloader unlock in the dev options..
But for the life of me, I could not figure out how to get to Fastboot mode..
The G7 ThinQ combinations do not work, neither do adb reboot bootloader
Drop a line if anyone managed to boot into the bootloader..

LG Velvet rooted boot.img (US Verizon G900VM10e_00_VZW_US)

As Mr.mayb2 requested...here a rooted boot.img from the US Verizon LG Velvet.
Pulled the original boot.img directly from the kdz that was provided to me via
http://lgegdmswdl.s.llnwi.net/dn/do...5CAIKAED3DRMO/G900VM10e_00_VZW_US_OP_1009.kdz
Then did un'kdz and un'dz.
loaded it into magisk and patched the file.
Please note that LG Velvet has 2 bootloader partitions. so be sure that you patch it to a/b.

Thats the thing where everything will stand and fall.
To unlock the bootloader you need an unlock-code from the vendor.
For the EU-Version i got that via mail from LG.
But i've no clue if LG does this for US too.
Does that come down to LG or to the carriers (Verizon, ATT, etc)?

Yes, but it only supports the EU variants as of now. Would the decision to not unlock US variants come down to an LG decision or the carriers not allowing it?
However, when I did try to use that tool I could only get my IMEI and not my device ID. It says "OK" when I enter my IMEI too so I'm wondering whether it would also accept my device ID and work anyway.
But, I'm having difficulties finding my device ID (or at least the full 64 character one they want). The ones I get from apps that pull it are only 16 character. The fastboot/bootloader method they give on that page doesn't work for me (to get the device ID). Possibly because rebooting to bootloader in ADB does nothing but reboot the phone. Rebooting to fastboot works but the commands don't work to get the device ID.
Do you know how to find the device ID otherwise?

Maybe try getting into fastbootd by rebooting in fastboot to fastbootd
Fastboot reboot fastbootd
Worth a shot.
you cant root without a bootloader unlock and you arent getting it with the verizon version. the velvet is down to $120 and although its tempting, i wouldnt do it without the unlock.

Moto G 5G 2022 - XT2213-3(Austin) - OEM unlock greyed out

I just got the Moto G 5G 2022 from metro yesterday after I broke the digitizer in my N200 5G. I was able to get the unlock code from Motorola's bootloader unlock website, but unfortunately the OEM unlock option is greyed out and says to connect to the internet or contact my carrier. From the little information I was able to find online it seems like this should resolve itself in 3+ days, but because I am impatient I was wondering if anybody knows the package that is responsible for the timer or whatever it is that motorola is using to prevent activating the OEM unlock for a specific time period. I know on the N200, you had to be network unlocked to enable the OEM unlock option, but there was a Qualcomm package that could be removed via ADB that instantly enabled the option. This is my first device with a mediatek chipset so I'm not sure if there is anything similar that can be done. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Hey mate. I had the same issue. You need to wait 7 days to activate that option. It was greyed out for my phone, too, but on the 7th day, I was able to unlock the bootloader.
Yet, I could not root my phone. Even there's no TWRP right now working for this phone. If you know how to root it, please let me know.

Just root it by patching the boot img with magisk and flashing from a PC.

Here's a link to stock firmware if you need the boot img
