Here's how to install Windows on Android tablets
You can't directly install Windows on an Android tablet, but you can certainly use it on one. Here's how to use Windows on an Android tablet.

Hi,
I've recently upgraded my laptop to Windows 8. On Windows 7 I had Zune, Dev Tools, Xap Deployer, etc to connect to my phone (Omnia 7.5 dev/interop unlocked). How can I do the same on Windows 8. Couldn't find Zune for Windows 8.
Tried searching the forums but searching for "windows 8" just gives results for Windows 7.8.
Any help is much appreciated.

Just go to the xbox music site and download zune again. And go to the apphub site and download the windows phone tools again.
Everything you had on windows 7 will run on windows 8. I just slapped Win 8 on my laptop and just finished installing the dev kit and zune. Took me about an hour to do.

I read somewhere that Zune Software is not compatible with W8. I tried it also on W8 CP without any luck. I guess I should try on the released version now. Downloading...
Btw, what version of dev tools did you use? Can you post a link?

Naw, the Zune software is fully compatible with W8. I just finished importing my music library from my phone to my laptop.
Anyway, I downloaded this ...
https://www.dreamspark.com/Student/Windows-Phone-7-App-Development.aspx
Not really sure what version it is. 7.1 or 7.2 or something?
Zune works perfectly on Windows 8.
For the developer tools I think you should use these:
http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=35471#overview
"The Windows Phone Software Development Kit (SDK) 8.0 provides you with the tools that you need to develop apps and games for Windows Phone 8 and Windows Phone 7.5."
Thanks guys. Zune worked. Installing latest dev tools from jjuki's link.
Do you know how the os installaton works on tablets with intel atom or core m? Can I just download windows/ubuntu and install it form a bootable USB like on laptops or do I need special ROM for that device like regular android phones?

If you have access to fastboot mode (Google it if you don't know how to open it), you can install the official Ubuntu ROM using this method:
How to install Ubuntu Touch on your Android phone or tablet
Or check this official instructions: Installing Ubuntu for devices
But, there's no Windows OS for Android devices.
However there are certain custom ROMs which gives Windows 8 like interface. Search and find those ones compatible for your device.
Else, you can install launchers that give UI like Windows 8 from Play Store.
Hope this helped
I have installed win8.1 on my android as dual boot using change my software 8.1 edition. Now is there any way to delete that windows and have only android on my phone. If it is there please specify. Thank You.
Hey,
yeah I know what you think. But I don't want to install Windows 10 on any of my tablets.
I just want to know, what work has to be done, to install Windows 10 on a Android Tablet. Just theory, nothing practially.

The if and how of that question depends on the device in question, the process may or may not vary depending on exactly which device you would be doing this on. Some are simple, most are not and only tablets with certain hardware architectures can even attempt to install Windows 10. The tablets that can install Windows 10 usually can't install the complete Windows 10 OS, they have to use a specialized version that has been trimmed down to reduce the storage space required to install it.
Hello,
Hopefully can find further help here...
Obtained Keypoon K30s Pro tablet from China. It is running Android 10 as its oem OS. I want to set it up with a linux distro instead of android.
Ofcourse due to exotic make I have not been able to find any threads of information on this topic for this brand tablets.
Only guide so far has been hardware specs...
It is running on Unisoc SC9863a 64bit ARM Cortex A-55 cpu at 10 cores.
10GB RAM
512GB internal storage
PowerVR Rogue GE8322 integrated graphics card
It successfully connects with windows 10 cmd adb bridge.
As I understand, I would need a linux distro img format file to try and boot it from bootloader via ADB, however official sources only offer ISO downloads.
PS I am open to any linux distro which would offer best compatibility to the hardware. From what I can see Debian seems to be a good choice. (as this brand is not
part of the supported device list for ubports of ubuntu touch couldnt get past that either)
Any advice would be greatly appreciated
Thank you

Thank you for reply.
Looks like Andronix is a Linux emulator and backbone still remains Android.
with this also comes certain limitations...
I was looking to completely replace Android with a Linux distro.
Any suggestions?

Yes, you are correct there. Andoid is built off the linux kernel.
However, it is still limited in what you can do, you have proprietary bloatware bogging down your device and the biggest issue for me is that google is the manager of it all.
So I am strongly coming from privacy side as well.
I have seen quite a few options similar to Andronix on play store. Correct me if im wrong- they are like a virtual machine on windows..? Not sure how this setup works, if you are able to save your OS state, packages etc, or its a clean slate everytime you fire up the vnc server and connect to the distro of choice...
So I am really interested to see if its possible to fully get rid of android and try linux. (Cant install windows as ARM cpu's are not supported, not that I wanted windows anyway)
Many thanks
