Hi, I am currently using the MTCD Dasaita PX6 unit which has a TV module that plugs directly into one of the rear connector.
I can use the TV app and also switch channels from the touch screen giving it a very integrated experience.
The TV module is only power-on automatically when the TV app is launched thus some power saving there.
Am looking to upgrade to an FYT unit but so far none of them seems to support a TV module. Not looking at RCA in kind where there is no integration and can't switch channels using the touch screen.
Does anyone knows of any?
I don't have a TV module, but I do something a little different. It may or may not be suitable for your situation. I believe this may be better for North America as I believe the coverage in Europe is a little better for TV signals.
At home, I have a network connected TV tuner. I get over the air network channels that I can view on any network connected device if there is an app that can access the TV tuner. It's an HDHomerun tuner. It has two tuners built in and can transcode to different resolutions/quality levels. It's an older model HDTC-2US.
At home, I view using 1080p while on the road, I access it at 240p. This is to reduce data usage, although I have an unlimited data plan. Sometimes it drops out when in areas of no network data coverage. I VPN into my house and then access the channels through VLC. HDHomerun has an app but it only works within the house network...VPN doesn't work with it. Haven't figured out how make it work outside of the house. The HDHomerun provides a DLNA source so that any DLNA client can access it. At home, I use Kodi to access it. Here's a screen capture of VLC and the channel list:

Hi mastrv thanks for your suggestion but I think it's more complicated than what I originally has.
The closest option at this moment I can think of is to have the TV output via RCA In and I have to use the separate TV remote to switch channels.

So I am installing a htc flyer tablet into my cars dash to use as navigation/entertainment etc..
I was lookign around for anyway to have a rearview camera display on the tablet but have come up empty.
Im wondering though. If I took a wireless IP camera and installed in the car and figured out the power issue. Could I then turn on my phones mobil hotspot and then use a ip camera app on the tablet to view the camera?
Not sure if the camera would connect to internet with phone the same way as a router.
Anyone know?
IP Cam
I use IP Cam Viewer
I use it in my home to keep an eye on my security cameras when I'm gone.
Your problem will likely be port-forwarding past the mobile hotspot... not sure how it's set up but I did accomplish it once, in a Sprint hotspot device.
You have several "if's" there but I think you could make it happen. The good thing is that you can test it for free and registration of the app is only a few dollars.

I would be interested to know if this works as well. I'd like to monitor my horses back in the trailer. I assume the camera would get a local ip address from wireless tether. I wonder could this local address be used in a web browser or app like ipcam viewer. someone has to have tried this. guess I could by a cheap ip camera and try it but, it would be nice to know before wasting any money.
Its possible to make Foscam IP cameras to broadcast and connect via Adhoc. Doesn't hurt that they run of 5V at 2 A. That lets you use a usb cable off of ebay and cigarette charger for power. I also picked up an FI9821W, SDCard and 10000maH battery pack with 2A port off of amazon for a UPS sort of battery backup and buffer, we'll see how that works out for a while. Too bad eye-fi doesn't work. Honestly, doesn't see too practical in my mind, we'll see. For extra points though, noticed that the bottom has a hookup for a mount you can use on your dash, windshield, or air vents.

I am mainly interested in this app for the purpose of screen mirroring. I use the Torque app while in my vehicle, which also has a touchscreen Windows 8 computer. I am searching for an effective solution to mirror the screen. Since this will be used while traveling I will have to use the phone WIFI tether to enable the connection.
Does Airdroid offer a USB tether option? It would be great to have this. My monitor only has a VGA connection. If it had an HDMI connection I could just plug in a cable from the phone but it does not. I am not really worried about the FPS rate as I am not watching videos from the phone, and the lag isn't really an issue either....
Thanks
I've moved your post to this new thread.
AirDroid does offer USB tether option, just follow these steps:
1) Connect your Android to your computer with a USB cable.

2) Enable USB tethering. The detailed steps may vary for different devices, but should be similar: Go to Settings> WIRELESS & NETWORKS> MORE> Tethering & portable hotspot and check the box next to USB tethering.
3) Open AirDroid on your device, go to Tools tab, and press Tethering. A new AirDroid url like “http://192.168.42.129:8888” will be displayed.
4) Visit the full url above on your computer web browser to start using AirDroid.
You can find it in our help center http://help.airdroid.com/customer/portal/articles/1296187-how-to-use-airdroid-without-wi-fi-or-other-network-connection
If you don't care about fps, then TeamViewer might be what you are looking for. They offer screen mirroring, but it is really laggy and way to slow to play game on, but for torque it might do the trick
Message has been Baconized
Teamviewer will be a functional solution as a base, but I would wonder if the interface will be sufficient. It's gesture controlled with a mouse-style format. If you need to interact you may well find it difficult to drive and control the unit and maintain the focus necessary to drive safely.
I don't know enough about Torque or your specific needs in regard to it to make a good assessment but do try it as Gormsen suggested and please post back some thoughts and/or details so others in your situation or similar have some info to go on. I would imagine as someone thinking about implementing your type of setup having some input before dropping significant cash on it would be tremendously helpful
Good luck..
Hi all!
I've been using Amazon Fire TV for a while. It's a good machine, but I'm tired of them blocking Kodi/Firestarter, introducing ads, and refusing to fix bugs and provide support if you have Kodi installed. I also want something that's got DVB T-2 built in.
Requirements:
- Android
- Fast & good image quality/rendering
- NO FAN
- DVB T-2 built in
- Good quality & simple remote like the Fire TV one, or the possibility of adding it separately
I mostly use it for streaming, playing local videos, Netflix, Amazon music.
Any suggestions?
Thank you!
:fingers-crossed:
Hi there, I just got my hands on a KII Pro TV Box 2G 16G Android 5.1 Amlogic S905 Quad-core 4K*2K 2.4G&5G Wifi Bluetooth 4.0 Androidtvbox from alibaba. It's the best spec I could find on a DVB-T2 tuner box, also has DVB-S2 tuner.
Not too much info on it around the web and the sellers of these types of boxes here in Ireland seem to still be selling last years models.
It's running Android 5.1.1, 16gb of storage of which 10gb are available, 2gb of ram, 4 USB ports, a wireless keyboard (which has a very poor touch pad) and an IR remote control. It comes rooted and has kodi 16 preinstalled which I had to uninstall it completely to be able to get kodi 17 on there.
Another little annoyance with it was the DTV app that is used to control the DTV t2 and s2 when I was first setting it up I couldn't find anything for the with the DTV t2 automatic scan and this kept saying it was scanning for Europe and it doesn't look like there is any options but on the IR remote there is a menu button and clicking this brought up the settings to be able to pick what region and other options, once I changed to uk it picked up the channels. On other thing is that you need to come out of the DTV app to switch between t2 and s2.
So far so good for my needs but only have it since last Friday so not sure about shelf life. Below is a link to where I bought it plus some photos of what came in the package and the interface. Also it has PVR but I've yet to test this. Image quality is really good but I'm coming from a dreambox for my dvb s2 which didn't support hd channels.

Hello, is there an app or a modification on the hardware to cap the connection to the original build in on board computer display? Most time it only show "other".
I would prefer to see the time and the day like when the radio is disconnected
Nobody knows what your unit is.
Post details from Android system information including MCU version.
Teh crickets (as usual)

You have an opel. The picture is showing the onboard trip computer.
You want those values on the headunit?
Or you want the fm radio to appear to that screen?
If it is the latter then if you have attached the odb box that came with your unit you should be able to see fm info on the screen.
You will see other when on Bluetooth call or when you play from youtube or anothe application.
I have not understand clearly wwhat you want to do.
If it is the 1st you want to do then you need a Bluetooth or usb odb adapter and an application called torque. You wont get the trip computer values into the head unit but you will be able to configure torque to measure the same values more or less.
I see the FM radio when I listen to the radio, and I see "other" when I use streaming apps.
But it would be nice if we could exchange the "other" with something more usefull, like the title of the song, or, because I know its very comlicated to realize that, instead of displaying "other", showing the date would also be nicer.
With the original radio, when its turned off, the onboard computer show the date also.
My idea was to somehow block the information send to the onboard computer and automatically the onboard computer should display the date, as if the radio would be turned off.
Maybe its a stupid request but this "other" always on that screen bothers me...
You must ask for this to the dev of every app that display other.
The app should send the data for that to the canbus.
Every app, except for the build-in (radio, media player, bluetooth) show other.
Please read my above post again.
The dev of that every application has to fix his application to transmit the name of what is playing.
At least that is what I know.
Could not find a forum for OTT boxes.
Please direct me to it, if it exists.
I was given an M8S OTT box and am trying to get it to work.
I have plugged it in to my TV [HDMI cable].
I have connected it to the internet via cat cable.
When I turn my TV on all I get is a M8S logo that states amlogic, H.265, 8 core, Mali 450 and Quad Core A9.
I have downloded the users guide but it is not a lot of help in the info department.
There is a USB dongle in a USB slot at the back for a bluetooth keyboard, the keyboard lights up, but again no reaction from OTT box.
The box that the keyboard came in says it is for an Android TV Box.
The remote flashes red when I hit buttons but does not seem to react.
The remote does not seem to turn machine on/off.
I have found a site that shows how to reset to factory defaults.
I have read about getting into recovery mode using a USB keyboard.
I have not done either.
Can anyone suggests what my next moves should be?
Thanks
Requires Ethernet connection?
Yes, but I am not sure how to do this as I cannot setup to sign in.
That's how an Ethernet cable looks

Yes that is what I have plugged in to TV box and to router. I have a cable internet connection @ 120 maps download and 10 maps upload.
First and foremost, thank you to everyone who has helped in this matter. I do understand that this is an older piece of equipment and my knowledge of it is on the low end. I was hoping that being a Linux derivative there was some hope for it, as I don't like waste. There are few markings on it, which doesn't help. As well as my inexpertise about these devices.
So, now, I am looking for a "brand" name tv box (other than chromecast, roku, fire, etc.) that I can look into. Not really interested in used. Android(configurable) preferred. I live in CANADA if that makes a difference. My use for the tv box is mostly news and documentary with a little entertainment thrown in. Netflix, et all, I am not interested in, although I like movies. I have cut the wire so to speak and do not subscribe to any of the big TV/Internet providers.
I do not recognize any names of the Android TV boxes I have seen in any internet searching, so, if someone could provide some names that are good equipment in this line, I could check them out and get on with this.
Thanks.
