On-Board computer display - MTCD Android Head Units Q&A

Hello, is there an app or a modification on the hardware to cap the connection to the original build in on board computer display? Most time it only show "other".
I would prefer to see the time and the day like when the radio is disconnected

Nobody knows what your unit is.
Post details from Android system information including MCU version.

Teh crickets (as usual)

You have an opel. The picture is showing the onboard trip computer.
You want those values on the headunit?
Or you want the fm radio to appear to that screen?
If it is the latter then if you have attached the odb box that came with your unit you should be able to see fm info on the screen.
You will see other when on Bluetooth call or when you play from youtube or anothe application.
I have not understand clearly wwhat you want to do.
If it is the 1st you want to do then you need a Bluetooth or usb odb adapter and an application called torque. You wont get the trip computer values into the head unit but you will be able to configure torque to measure the same values more or less.

I see the FM radio when I listen to the radio, and I see "other" when I use streaming apps.
But it would be nice if we could exchange the "other" with something more usefull, like the title of the song, or, because I know its very comlicated to realize that, instead of displaying "other", showing the date would also be nicer.
With the original radio, when its turned off, the onboard computer show the date also.
My idea was to somehow block the information send to the onboard computer and automatically the onboard computer should display the date, as if the radio would be turned off.
Maybe its a stupid request but this "other" always on that screen bothers me...

You must ask for this to the dev of every app that display other.
The app should send the data for that to the canbus.

Every app, except for the build-in (radio, media player, bluetooth) show other.

Please read my above post again.
The dev of that every application has to fix his application to transmit the name of what is playing.
At least that is what I know.

network frequency is "900/1800MHZ" which means its GSM, which means you can use it with everyone pretty much except Verizon but they might not be able to activate it since its a foreign model, but i think you are out of luck here anyway since the developers on this site program for windows mobile (which it doesnt run)
p.s.- IPTV stands for Internet Protocol Television...not sure what the heck that means in terms of your phone though
yes. It comes up with the windows logo & says "Windows push technology" in the startup screen, other than that I have no idea?
well, "push technolgoy", whether its windows or apple or whoever makes it...just means that your phone has the capability of constantly checking for email, messages, etc....it means that you can set it to check for email (if you have a data plan), ever 5, 10, or 15 minutes, etc...if you wish. data is constantly being 'pushed" to and from your phone, that's all it means, so it looks like you have a limited user interface, not windows by any stretch, but still microsoft based technology, while the base rom is probably made by some 3rd party subsidiary of the company that makes the phone.
so not supported by microsoft, but still usable.
Thank you for your prompt reply on this. It is a good phone but limited on it's PDA side, Music wise is excellent as it has an extremely loud MP3 player and plays videos downloaded from the net or from my own camera....It's just a bit annoying that the PDA section is worse than useless... but your help is appreciated

Extreme battery drain issue with Bluetooth

Hello,
I've had by Z5 since late 2015 and it's been a real trooper. Sadly it has recently (in the last few days) developed an issue where Bluetooth appears to be draining battery like crazy. I've dug around a bit on the internet and found a few people experiencing the problem but none too recently. One post suggested turning on the 'Enable Bluetooth HCI snoop log' and toggling Bluetooth on and off, then checking the log. When I turn that setting on, it creates the 'btsnoop_hci.log' which very rapidly starts filling with junk. In the space of about 20 seconds it took for me to toggle BT on and off and take a copy of the log, it had grown to 700 KB.
Below are some screenshots showing the battery usage of Bluetooth. I have a copy of my btsnoop_hci.log file too but I couldn't find a way to attach it to this thread. If there's some way I can share this, please let me know. If anyone can help me troubleshoot this issue, I would be most grateful. As far as usage / changes that might have cause this problem, I can't think of anything too crazy but here are some points:
I paired my phone with a pair of Taotronics BH22 headphones last week but have since forced my Bluetooth to "forget" this device.
I use my Sony WH-1000XM3 headphones pretty much every day to listen to music since March 2019.
I don't use my phone for anything other than messaging, and music. The apps I have installed do automatic updates sometimes -- I was actually suspecting that an automatic update that went on for one of my apps might be the culprit, but I have no idea how to check this.

I think I've figured out what was causing the problem. It was an update to 'Google Play Services'. The version that recently went on was 16.0.91
I installed the beta version (specifically, 17.1.22 (040400-245988633) beta (040400)) and since then, Bluetooth is behaving.

[APP] Blue2Hotspot - Turn on the hotspot when connected to a Bluetooth device

Blue2Hotspot is a program for automatically turning on an access point (Hotspot) when connected to certain Bluetooch devices.
Languages: English, Russian (translation planned)
It happens that you get tired of doing the same thing and constantly get into the car, look for your phone, turn on the access point, and so on every day. I decided to write a small application to automate these actions. To enable the access point, you need permission - location (I myself think this is nonsense). The program does not write your data or send it anywhere. All other permissions are needed to keep Android from being unloaded from the system.
Some water. Since the parents bought a car and there is a large screen, you can launch the navigator and all sorts of online services, but how to turn on the access point turned out to be more difficult to teach, since a couple of weeks will pass and the call "how to turn on Wi-Fi". And I decided to write a small application.
Instructions
Make pairing with Bluetooth and Wifi device.
Install Blue2Hotspot, give permission.
Make settings and select your Bluetooth device.
Click on the Start service button
That's it, the service will work on this; now, when connected to the device, the access point will turn on.

Thanks for the very useful app, that works very well. I tried a couple of others before finding this that didn't work.
Would it be possible to select multiple BT devices so that it could be used in more than one car?
After using Blue2Hotspot for a couple of weeks I'm an absolute fan of it. Annexhack, you have programmed a really useful program, easy to handle for beginners too. I second the requst from kk131 and add: I'd like to donate a beer to you, let us know how to do. Thanks
Bye for now Fred

You need to select a different Peugeot model within the settings and experiment which works best. I have a 308 (2009) and for me the best is the 408 model, even though there is a 308, it's not great.
Tried all settings and still the same problem
I tried to change the can bus and bought 3 types of rzc - xp - hiworld and it still not works
I tried to install the old radio to make sure that the multimedia is working and really working
So far I have not been able to find a solution to the problem, and the strange thing is that it was working at the beginning of my purchase of the device and stopped working two days later
@surfer63 I hope you will find a solution to this problem

No, I don't have one. CANbuses per car are really specific, there is no general approach here (and I have a Skoda Octavia, a VAG type car, which is not even close to your PSA concern car)
Thank you for your reply
Do you think that the problem could be in the device’s software and are there ways to find out the main cause?
Have you solved your problem? My issue is that since installing my new Xtrons unit I am receiving multiple Can Bus errors in my van itself. They seem random but I have read that wiring issues in the head unit can short the CAN creating systemwide errors. My plan is to test bypassing the CAN BUS entirely for now.

PX30 dongle locked down

Hi, maybe somebody can help me a bit, just hope I post in the right forum. I have a C5 wireless dongle with a PX30 (RK3326-S) chip. Problem is, device is working perfectly except, that Google Assistant voice is cut (navi and music works perfectly). I already was in contact with their support, they send me an APK to change the Output from Google Assistant from phone call to music, but also didn't help. By the way, that's was the only APK I could install, all others will fail, see below.
So I wanted to try to install Headunit reloaded but regardless if tried via Play Store or direct, installation fails. That's the same for every other programm I tried (app not installed, regardless if via Play Store or direct).
I then thought, give it a try to disable USB Audio routing in developer options, but it's not possible to enable developer options the standard way. I the read that using "adbon" in factory settings menu should maybe enable Developer options, but when using that, device restarts, but the screen of the car stays blank. When using the root command (*#hct#root#) gives just a "wrong password" error. When using m123456, I can at least enter the additional settings, but that doesn't help here.
So I really would like to have a ROM where I can install my own Apps on, so if somebody could point me in the right direction, it would be great. Following thinks to take into consideration from my point of view:
1. as it's just a Dongle, up to now I only can get a graphical output in the car itself
2. on current ROM not possible to install additional apps (the one I got from manufacture support was the only exception)
3. even if it's possible to install another ROM, as it's not a Head unit, but just a Dongle, I would also need he programms for mirroring to Car screen (also I'm not new to rooting etc, I have no clue about this Dongles) - is this included in the MCU?
This C5 device seems to be sold under different brands, see 2 links below, attached also 3 Fotos from the board and current Software.
