I'm still on stock ROM, rooted. The default camera app is missing some features I used regularly on my old phone.
Are there any recommended alternatives? I have Open Camera installed and it seems to work fine and has more features. Any better apps?
Also, can anyone tell me how to change the default camera app for things like the lock screen camera launcher? I can't find a default setting for it.

I love the cyanogen roms but hate the stock camera app, is it possible to get like the galaxy s camera app, the sense one or droid x app to work on cyanogen? and I know about vignette, and stuff but they arent something id use EVERYDAY.
I am on modded rom with 213 dpi and the stock Camera app is not good-looking in this mod (messy icons). I have tried some third party apps but didnt actually like them except android 4.2 applications.
SO! Would anybody please pass me a link for android 4.2 gallery and camera apps working on touchwiz base rom?
I once tired and flashed it, gallery app was fine but in camera app the video capture reboot my phone. Are even these apps compatible with our Note?

The on-going debate about the S3's camera when using Touchwiz vs. an AOSP ROM made me wonder about the camera apps itself. Which camera app do you primarily use? Coming from the Samsung Galaxy Nexus, I actually miss the AOSP camera app (where you have the touch-wheel that lets you adjust settings on the fly). The stock TW camera app isn't quite as intuitive (e.g. to change white balance, I have to press the Options button and scroll down through a litany of settings just to change it).
I've been tempted to try OTHER camera apps, like Camera MX. Does anyone have a preference?
Snap camera. Easy. Love it. There is a thread here somewhere where the developer is active in it.

I had been using this camera https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.moblynx.camerajbplus&hl=en until getting onto 4.3.1, whenever I use a 3rd party camera, it's fails and then no app can connect to the camera, I have clear the cache and dalvik cache to get the stock camera to work. But if the the jb+ camera works for you I'd recommend it. I use this camera when I'm not in a rush https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.flavionet.android.camera.pro&hl=en (there's a lite version too I think) It just gives you complete control of your camera. It's great for arty fartsy stuff but if you need to take a quick photo it might not be the best the app.

I use the stock camera, but I just downloaded VSCO Cam, I'll see if its any good.

I have been messing around with custom roms for a few weeks now, I am liking the CM12 nightly builds but always find myself going back to the stock roms due to the missing of some of the stock apps...
Would anyone be kind enough to give me some good / close alternatives for apps like:
Camera app
Album app (can't stand stock photos app)
Email app (don't like gmail)
The email app is not really a bit one as I already know of many good alternatives in the play store, as for the camera / album apps I don't know of any good alternatives

for Album and Camera
thr s no apps like these they r special
for example AR effect of Xperia Camera and lots of smooth/nice feature on album
so if u need them just back to stock rom...

They don't have to be exactly the same, just something that can do the same job, The stock android camera app is just awful
Why don't you try Manual Camera and Cyanogen Gallery?
Both available on Play Store.
Btw, Manual Camera is only for Lollipop.

How can i get the Samsung camera app to display correct if i reduce the density system-wide?
If i apply the default dpi to com.sec.android.app.camera in xposed app settings, the camera app still doesnt display correctly.
I've tried to edit a few cam related apps without any luck.
To edit every other app isnt a solution in my eyes.
There is a fix for the s6. Maybe someone could port that for our edge?!

Running out of options: Stock Camera APP
Having the same issue.... This is literally the only thing that is keeping me from migrating entirely from my note 3..
I refuse to use google camera for it is utter rubbish; I am not geriatric, thanks.
I have tried Xposed App Settings fixed for lollipop(even though the 4.4 version seemed to be working fine for everything else)and nothing; DPI settings are ignored for the camera package...
I am running TKXodus 4.2 as well + Emotion Kernel.. Hitting stable 3.1GHz OC BTW I really want to iron out the issues with the dpi to finally use the edge as my daily driver but I am not as knowledgeable in terms of apk compiling/decompiling.
