X3 pro cell standby drain
I am getting huge cell standby drain, how can I reduce it ?
forum.xda-developers.com
I have the same problem just after miui 12.5.5 updating security patch 1 sep 2021
Before this update things were fine
And I hope next update fix this problem
Same problem!!! It's insane, network broadcast tower is right next to me, my signal is 100% strong. And i get a huge battery drain problem, almost 50% of battery wasted because of this!
Using (4G) LTE, LTE+ network.
Any fix please?

Hello everyone,
I purchased my new D6633 (dual SIM) recently (atm only using one slot) and noticed that the cell standby causes more battery drain than 5h of SOT.. That isn't normal, is it? I was on WiFi 90% of the time..
It depends on the signal quality/strength in your area. If you don't have full bars all the time, then that may be normal, esp if you're on LTE.

I noticed that it was due to a temporary bug, both WiFi and mobile data were activated all the time, though data was transmitted via WiFi. It still showed LTE and drained. Fixed by a reboot
Darn bugs.
Good to hear that you got it fixed and it's fine now.
Happened again, went away without reboot, but still I don't get why it connects to mobile data while I have internet access through WiFi..
Hi all,*
I am currently in Japan (originally from India, just here for a business trip for two weeks), using OnePlus 2. I bought a new data sim card and thought I would use it along with my Indian sim card. Two problems popped up:
1. When the Japan card's data is active, the Indian sim losses signal completely. Whatever I try, only one sim gets signal... Not both at the same time.*
2. "Cell standby" started showing up in the battery draining apps. Today morning, after a full charge, if lasted for about only 4 hrs! Now I checked the battery stats, cell standby is taking about 22% drain! I have even removed my Indian sim in the morning itself but this still *persists!*
Please help guys! I am here in Japan for another 10 days and this is torture! I don't mind the other sim not working for now (though I wouldn't mind a solution either), but I need the cell standby to disappear!*
Thanks in advance!!*

i cant help with the sim issue, but usually any excessive battery drain from anything cell related is due to poor or weak signal, doesnt necessarily have to be weak to be poor. could also be some sort of poor communication management from the carrier. either way, there is no general fix that im aware of other than choosing a more popular carrier and/or one that has better coverage where you are.
My brand new p20 pro is now having a battery drain issue, something thag i never had with my old p9 lite device
Adter updating it to emui 9, my phone drains overnight. I left it at 90% and it drained 5-6% battery.
What is going on!?
Go to Settings -> Battery -> Battery Usage and check what drains your battery. Usually it's bad cellular network reception (you will see more "Cell standby") or some app.
Just a note - AOD (always-on-display) does drain your battery (yes, OLED display, black colours, bla-bla-bla, just test yourself), so if you want it enabled (because it's convenient, I use it too) keep your phone face down on your desk/bedside when you don't need it.

Yes., the cellular standby thing is draining my battery, also AOD drains like very little power from the phone. I set it to turn off itself at 22:00PM and turn on in the morning at 7

Well that is your answer. If you have bad cellular network signal you phone will drain battery faster to keep you connected. Just to confirm it you can try using your phone with a different carrier (that has better coverage) for a day or two and see if battery doesn't drain so fast.

I always have great signal but how comes it goes low or drains the battery when i have full signal?
I guess I should stick to 4g instead of 3g?
Go to System -> Settings -> About phone -> Status -> Network
Check the values there and google what is considered "good".
Signal quality affects battery drain because any fluctuations make the modem in your phone work harder (scan more frequently for better signal, jump between frequencies etc.), this can be caused by weak cellular signal, changing between bands/frequencies (3G/4G), changing between cellular network controllers (antennas) etc.
Taking it further, it can be also a hardware problem in a particular device.
P.S. I don't know your exact situation and never saw or used your device, and everything I say may be completely irrelevant, I'm just giving a lead to look into.
I own the samsung note 10 plus 5g (uk version )it's a great phone and it has the best battery life of any phone I have ever owned .
I regularly have 50-60 % battery at the end of a day .
Untill this week I had only had the chance to try out 5g once.
I was working in Cardiff last month for only 4 hours or so but in this time I was able to run 5 speed tests in 5 different locations around cardiff .
Download speeds were good but not great, between 120 to 300 at best ,the down side to this was battery usage.
During speed tests I would lose 3%, but more concerning was the battery drain when the phone was in standby.
I lost 70% of battery life in the 4 hours of being in cardiff which did include 5 speed tests .
This was my first experience of 5g on my phone and I was not impressed .
This week i started a new job in a very small town which has full 5g coverage .
On Monday I started my new job and had forgotten all about 5g and the 5g experience in cardiff the month before , at around 10am having been in this 5g area for 2 hours I pulled out my phone to check the time and noticed the phone was very warm to the touch.
Then I remembered 5g , i check my battery percentage and was shocked to see I was on 70% already.
I never used the phone all day and my 5pm my phone was on 18% , this was just from standby.
The next day I disable 5g before getting to work and by 5pm this day I had 74% left .
I spoke to ee technical support and samsung technical support about this and they were both clueless saying the phone is working normally.
I did a factory reset and my FW is updated and it's still same .
As is Samsungs application of 5g in my note 10 plus is unusable .
If your thinking about buying into 5g I would recommend you think again .
The technology is clearly not ready yet .
If anyone else is having a better 5g experience then I can you let me know .
I think it's a samsung software problem, maybe they made it so that on 5G all apps start working on background?
Anyway, heat & drain is normal for 5G, but somewhere they say Sprint's 5G drainsalot less than other carriers, maybe it's ofyour service provider?
The same problem happened when they first released 4G phones, back in 2012
Note 10+5G battery drain issues
I turned on 5G and my battery was at 30% after 11 hrs of use. Next day I turned off 5G and only used 4G LTE and my battery was at around 62% turning on 5G drained my battery almost 30% it does not make sense spending an extra $300 for a 5G phone when it drains approx 30% faster than 5G LTE
As Mohamedkam000 noted, the same thing happened when the first LTE capable phones came out. Battery life was abysmal then, and it should come as no surprise that the first 5G phones will likely have terrible battery life as well. I live in a 5G city, but I have absolutely no interest in, or need for 5G. The only reason I'd even consider buying a 5G phone is for the larger battery, but I'd disable 5G and use LTE instead.
If you need 5G and live in a 5G city, then more power to you. But don't be surprised if you don't make it through the day without bump charging. That isn't a problem for people who have constant access to a charger. But if you don't like to be tethered to a wall, or don't have a job with a wireless charger within hand's reach, then you might want to reconsider jumping on the 5G bandwagon.
I read there will be a software update coming soon to fix the battery drain issue. The only update that i've received so far is for the security patch January 2020
Hello everyone!
I've recently bought a Pixel 7 Pro and I'm experiencing an excessive battery drain in standby mode. I've already set the phone in any way to fix the issue, I mean, in depth. I would be grateful for any advice, the battery of my 2XL is still performing better
Thank you in advance
How is your cell reception? If i leave mine connected to 5g at home it drains fast. but if i switch to 3g at home and 5g on the road battery life is incredible.
hello, do you use root to activate volte?

My offer does not include the 5g connection, but I'll switch to 3g at home, thank you so much for your advice
Mine is as it came out of the box and i have very poor reception at home and my standby is fine.
