Interesting. It's the blue driver pushing out more than it should be.
Blue pixels are usually the first to die.
Just the opposite of deminished light output, they are putting out too much.
It's either firmware flaw or an issue with the hardware in the display matrix. There are thousands of drivers in that matrix.
Maybe go with black or near black wallpaper for now. You'll get better SOT battery life too. It seems to be a definite defect of some kind. If it really irritates you... factory warranty it or return it.
At this price point I be irritated...

neither for me...
Odd one that. I think the site is down.
Anyway, smart-mobile-gadgets.com had a picture of the Silver Polaris in the foreground and a Black one in the background. I was going to post the picture from that site but wasn't sure about forum rules etc.

I for my part would GREATLY welcome a sleek black version of the Polaris.
It seems that the black-version is only for the asian-market.
Klick
The image here shows that it is silver and black in color, but according to HTC, the version that is sold in this region may be completely black instead. The company also said it will likely be available in Asia starting next year, but could not be more specific. Pricing was also unconfirmed.

I too would prefer a black version and I'm sure some 'local' retailers might get it. It whether I can wait that long.
Same to me- i think the black looks way more noble than the silver one.
i would like the piono finish like hp laptops have

Now that's what I call misleading! Both shown devices there are the silver versions, but the left one has been photographed so that the light doesn't fall in on its front, as to pretend it would be black...
At the moment there is no black version. all pictures are faked..

It's how you look at it, in my view there's no silver edition. I've had the polaris in my hands, and it looked like the black version. Only in another light it looked silver. When you work with the phone, and look directly at it, it's black/dark grey. It's kind of the mirror effect.

The right picture is 100 percent a real photo from SmartMobileGadgets! I know it..
@ brrrt: I can send you 200 different pictures of the Touch Cruise where you can see thats silver... But when you say you had a black one in your hand, i believe you. I hope that a black one exists. It seems more like "business"
@isv51:
it's just like in the following picture:
it has a kind of dark grey (antrecite?) screen, and in another light it may seem a bit silver-ish, but it really isn't.
I prefer this one too though, it has the business look on it.
I really think it's strange that all of the pictures shown of the silver device are fabric types (not really working, all with the same screen on it). Have you seen some really working silver ones?

Does the Infuse 4G also suffer from the same screen issues as the SGS2?

Im wondering if the Samsung Infuse 4G suffers the same issue with the Galaxy S2's screen issues..
1.) Yellow tinting
2.) Left side is darker than the right
3.) Huge color temperature swings from unit to unit
4.) Difference of white brightness
5.) Visible suction cup marks
6.) White blotches on the screen when a gray image is displayed
7.) Color banding
Any input is appreciated, pictures are also welcome especially if its the notification tray dropped down.
I personally have not had any of those issues that i can recall or that i can tell.
At the very very bottom of my screen on the Infuse there is a noticeable tearing or bending...whatever you want to call it. I have seen 4 with this small imperfection. Maybe it was a bad batch.
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I997 using XDA App
I think it is an intended effect. (bottom of screen) It's really noticeable when you scroll through text.
The issues the OP mentioned, I've seen none of.
It's clearly not an intended effect. It's only the bottom row of pixels anyway.
None of those other problems I have in the slightest.

I had a light spot on my first Infuse. It was only noticeable on dark gray backgrounds. Exchanged because of it and my second and third Infuses didn't have it.
Haven't noticed the other issues mentioned by the OP and I'm pretty particular about screens. Color balance is much better than my old Captivate.
@hwaters
I may just be seeing things but there also looks like a yellowish tint captured by the camera, would be you able to zoom out a bit on the photos something that shows the entire phone but not further away. Thanks!
For those who are willing to contribute pictures please post a picture of the notification tray dropped down with the full phone in view.
My camera was having focusing issues from farther away but I did take a few other pictures earlier today.
If there is some yellow tinting oh well. It may just be an issue with how they may the super amoled plus screens.

[Q] RMA because of color streaking (pics inside)

Is this normal?
The color is off on my camera, but does anyone have those streaks when showing a pure red screen? I'm about to send it away for an RMA

Thats suzks for you dude,,, let us know how it works out.. picture is way too big.
This is actually normal. Using a software such as Screen Filter and looking at a pure grey image will show the screen pattern pretty clearly. Very noticeable at lower brightness, not much of an issue otherwise.

nothing in particular. I first noticed while using Launcher 7, all the red tiles had a lot of striping. I'm talking about pure red #FF0000. The gray noise has always seemed minimal. I only noticed it while using MIUI or Gingerbread. I just hope they don't replace my screen with the S-LCD. the SAMOLED is still much better than the S-LCD

Although I cannot confirm this right away, I highly doubt replacing it for a S-LCD is as easy as plugging it in. Phones have to be cost effective, so the less time spent repairing them, the better. I don't think you'll have anything but a SAMOLED.
Well I just got it back.
And they didn't fix the issue
although they did replace my charge port and volume buttons.
So, not a complete loss

White don in the middle of the screen

Hey i have this white dot on the middle of the screen . i mean its white on black backgrounds but not noticable on lighter colours . what could this be ?
I have this problem,I have sent my phone to HTC 5 times now and the problem is still here
Sent from my HTC Sensation Z710e using xda app-developers app
Sounds like a stuck pixel. If it was dead it would be black.
There are various apps that are designed to attempt to fix the problem, by flashing the screen to create different levels of pixel activity. But I'm not sure if they will actually do anything.
Sent from my Bruce's CM10 Sensation using XDA Premium
I have a problem like this as well. It's not a stuck pixel, it looks more like a "smear" on the screen whose pixels won't get as dark as they are supposed to. The problem is most apparent on dark gray backgrounds. You know, the kind that's all over Holo. :/
Never tried to contact HTC about it since I figured it was my fault, but if other people here have exactly the same problem then it may be a more widespread problem.

It's still very hard too see it properly. Has it always been there?
It sort of reminds me of the first LCD TVs that were released that suffered from 'clouding' in the corners. Which could be 'massaged' out of the panel. Yet this is directly in the centre area if the panel. Or even reminds me the knuckle marks on my old Dell monitor (long MMORPG story) that look exactly like that. Damaged pixels that won't fill completely anymore.
I find it hard to imagine how this could happen without direct damaged (which is pretty much impossible in this scenario, without a damaged digitizer). Or without it being a manufacturing issue, prior or even during assembly.

Hmmm strange, I have the same problem since about 2 months. I thought it was my fault because I pressed the screen too hard or something. On my phone it's a dot, not a smudge.

Have you opened up the case of the phone at all? If you get something behind the screen it will push the center of it out and create exactly the issue you have.
Even if you haven't opened it up, something could be stuck back there. A big peice of dirt, a small plastic peice that broke up internally, or anything else.
If you have teken the device part, do it again and make sure it's clean behind the screen. If you haven't, send it back for a new one.

[Q] Dust under the screen?

Hi,
I received the Opo yesterday and I notices a darker spot. Can you give some advice? I opened a ticket with One but I am so nervous about that.
I cannot take a good picture of that. It's like a red spot. It stucks there and I can see it with brilliant colours.
Thanks

Yes, I had an invite. Anyone can help?
Imho it could be one of three things
a) a defect in the screen: rather unlikely based on the shape
b) glue not fully dried --> i'm sceptical it could cause this. You may want to try an UV lamp to be sure though, no harm done.
c) actual dust/air under the screen. Only an RMA could fix that

I tried to get a new one in all way. I had a long discussion with them, but nothing. For they, it's a little problem of the display and they refused to change it.
Bad assistance, but we already know that. At the end, I decided to stay with the phone .
