Finally activated the Note 20 Ultra, had previously cloned the phone off the Note 9 and use Pulse for SMS, all messages were on the phone as an additional device same as tablet. After activation noticed messages are missing from time Pulse was installed until now after making Note 20 primary device. Followed Pulse forum suggestion to re-sign into account did not solve. Have also tried using Google Messages as default but messages still missing. If I thought there would be an issue would have backed up first but messages were up to date prior to activation. Sent email to Pulse no response yet. Still have the Note 9, if I back up now I'll be missing messages from the last week. Need to recover past messages and keep current ones.
Nevermind, found I had setup but forgot I setup Samsung Cloud Backup on the Note 9 back in 2018 and used the Restore function under Settings / Accounts and Backup / Samsung Cloud / Restore. Chose the Note 9 as the device which showed the backup date of October 3rd, when I switched phones, selected Call Log (just in case) along with Messages and after about 20 minutes everything is there. Cool feature!

I have a Galaxy s6 that I'm trying to backup for my boss.
He has two email accounts for old employers saved on this phone, with messages in the inbox he needs to be able to search through, but of course, no longer has sign in credentials to these companies.
He cracked his screen and got a new phone about 6 months ago and has all his apps and everything arranged and working perfectly on that NEW galaxy s6.
But he needs these gmail accounts and a lot of other data from his old phone on his new one.
How can I back up and restore that data to his new phone.
Or, the best, would be any way to merge the phones? Ie., reverse sink the NEW phone to the OLD one and then forward sync the merged phone to the new one?
Hello gyus,
Does somebody have same problem as me? I noticed strange behavior of Messenger Lite on my stock Android 8.0 Galaxy S9+ (exynos) since Messeger Lite update v35. That was major update, when it started to target Oreo api. Issue is still present since then even with latest version v42.
When my phone is offline and I am using facebook chat on PC and then when I turn phone`s wifi or 4G on, it goes crazy with Messenger lite notifications. I shows notification for every message I received when using FB on PC also with sound and then it disappears immediately (because obviusly message was already read on PC). It is super annoying, because it keeps doing that notificaiton sound for 10 seconds or so (depends on how many messages did I send using PC before). I have tried to remove its data and cache few times already, clean installation and it seems that all versions past version 35 are doing that. It forces me to roll back to version 34, but I miss some new recently added features then (ability to add any attachment, play Gifs...)
Thank you for help

Decompile the latest version of the app, then decompile the version 34 of the app, look through the version 34 app's files to find the parts that control what you want to change, the parts that are not in the latest version of the app, then add the parts from version 34 that controls how notifications are handled, to the latest version so that the latest version also perform a the way you want it. Then re-compile and sign the .apk, then install it.

Thank you for suggestion, but I am not that familiar with android development, to be able to do that now...
But if there is anybody with more advanced skills who can do that, then it will be appreciated
My Xiaomi Mi Max 3's screen has just died and I forgot to set up my WhatsApp, SMS & Call history back up.
I'm going to order replacements parts but they won't arrive until mid-January, therefore, I'm hoping to use my old Samsung Galaxy Note 3 in the meantime.
Currently I can continue using my WhatsApp on my PC even though I've already put my SIM into the Note 3 but haven't installed WhatsApp yet so not sure what's going on there.
If I do install WhatsApp on the Note 3, will I lose my history on the Max 3? Ideally, is there a way of either merging the old history (once I fix the Max3) with the new history on the Note 3 at a later date? The same goes for SMS & call history.
If I could somehow backup the history via WhatsApp via the PC then that would solve the issue but can't see any settings to do so.
What would you recommend? Should I not install WhatsApp on the Note 3? I'm dreading the moment when the WhatsApp on the PC states it's no longer connected to a phone because then I'll really be buggered. Really feel like an idiot for neglecting this.
In fact, is there anyway of accessing the internal storage of the Max 3 without having to use the screen?
Thanks and hope you can help.
Don't know what happened, but the A13 update basically borked my phone. Dialer, messages, fingerprint reader, screen handling, notifications, Android Auto, etc ALL no longer work correctly. I never know how exactly the phone will behave on any given interaction. Its a mess. It was working perfectly fine on A12
So, I have to do some kind of a reset. I NEED my messages and call logs to be correct on restore (use it for lots of business stuff), everything else, whatever is backed up will be ok.
I tried doing a migration from the A13 6A to a factory reset Moto Edge 21 with A12 on it, and the A13 Pixel refuses to cooperate. Android migration usually works pretty well, but in this case, the 6A A13 refused to see the Moto A12, and gave me some super weird Android File Manager error message. I planned on using the Moto Edge as a data mule, reset the 6A, then migrate everything back.
So, I need to do a backup, reset and restore and am dubious of Google One actually working. Open to suggestions or actual experiences of how to do this with minimal disruption. Most of the internet "guides" on resetting are useless, and don't address how not to lose and/or destroy your data (text/messages, call logs, etc, incl MMS)
The only thing I can think of is using Wondershare Mobiletrans for backup and restore and cross my fingers that it'll actually work.
I use Swift Backup to backup and restore now. I would give that a try.
I use swift as well...but u have to have a backup app already in place BEFORE getting borked...lol There's limited options for going back to 12. As mentioned in the big PSA warning thread at the top...if u try to do a common rollback, google's ARB (anti-rollback) if triggered, WILL HARD=BRICK your phone! Then u have to send it back to google for a factory reset meaning ofc loss of all data. So plz use caution and no matter how u chose to proceed...Swift Backup is a gem! A one-time purchase ano NO monthly fees! Best regards...
Try updating again, I got two Android 13 updates on mine, the first one broke the fingerprint reader, then I hit update again, and it downloaded another update that subsequently fixed it.
If you just want to backup messages and phone calls, I use this:
SMS Backup & Restore - Apps on Google Play
A simple app that backs up and restores SMS & MMS messages and call logs.
play.google.com
Can back up to cloud as well as your device.
Otherwise I've had no issues with the Google backup in Settings.
So at some point in the last 3 or 4 months, a lot of my old text messages disappeared. IE there's a few group chats and individual chats where the messages don't go back any further than a year and a half to 2 years. There's not a specific cut off date, and these are threads that go back several years. I've looked through them 3-4 months ago, so i know they were there.
I cannot get them to show back up to save my life. I have a backup of my Note 10+ i had before this, as well as a backup of the note 22 from a few months back. both show 10's of thousands of SMS messages. I factory reset my phone and restored the messages from the note 10 save, but no luck, same issue, they cut off at specific points and wont go back further.
I downloaded SMS backup and restore because I absolutely do not want something like this to happen again, but i noticed that even though my back ups show thousands and thousands of sms messages, SMS backup and restore is only showing 6000 messages. This has me very baffled. Im wondering if one of the recent updates caused this or something? I have made no major changes to anything sms related over the last few months, so for this to just suddenly happen, and me not be able to restore them even after a factory reset just really has me losing my mind. If these messages are gone, then their gone, but it doesnt make sense, and the number that SMS backup and restore says are on my phone vs what should be on there from the restore just don't add up.
Anyone else experience anything like this??
edit: this is an AT&T version
I can only confirm that SMS Backup and Restore Pro v10.10.001 supports 13692 sms without any problem. I delete the mms because the archive file swells very fast. Currently the archive is 4.7 MB.
