Are you still happy with your tab s6? If you went back in time would you buy the same tablet again? - Samsung Galaxy Tab S6 Guides, News, & Discussion

I like it, but I think I'd have waited for the m1 ipad pro.
I currently use an ipad mini 5 and Air 4, and the difference is night and day.
I love the oled screen, a lot of Samsung's nifty touches and Dex but...
The keyboard sucks (and costs a LOT), browsers are buggy, Bluetooth keyboards ttyyyypeee likkkkkkke thiiiiiss, apps don't really look or feel great because they aren't optimised for tablets, the life cycle is relatively short, both the face and fingerprint unlock are limited, without a samsung phone it won't send messages (ipad sends imessage) and syncing is limited, the vibrate motor is really annoying (why is the tablet vibrating ??) And there are hosts of annoying bugs that crop up from time to time.
I really love it for what it is, but it can't replace a laptop or allow me to put down the phone and just allow me to use the tablet, forgetting the phone. Ipad can do all of that for me.
I definitely think that, since nexus and pixel android tablets don't exist anymore, Samsung tabs are by far the best android tablet experience we are likely to get, and I like it much more than a chrome book tablet (let's leave Windows out if this, separate class of device), but if I was buying again, I wouldn't pick this up.
Do I have fun on it? Yes. It's it powerful? Yes. It's it the best choice for me? No.
I love all operating systems, my preference changes year by year depending on what is available, and if I was to go for android in the near future, the fold 3 would get my money.
What about you?

Yes, I do love it a lot after two years The HW, screen , sound etc. are just unbeaton. It's extremely thin and light. So I hold it easly in the left hand and type wuth the right We don't have to talk about Apple`s closed system, which can't be real,y modified or changed like android does. So waiting for the last major update to OneUi 4 After that I might root it ... .

Exactly the same
I tried tab s7: no oled and not better in any other way
S7+: too big. Its as big as my MS surface book 3 when detached
I got the lte version and as soon as I am at home my tablet replaces my phone completely. I would buy it again as it is with the kickstand (I actually like the kickstand but hate fact that it makes the tab more bulky) and they keyboard, even if I almost never have to use it. But when I do, (too lazy to leave the bed) I'm happy to have it

+1
In case of tab S6 it was the LTE option to get the maximum on HW, in case of tab s7 its the size. Unfortunately with the phones it's the same. Size decides about performance.

Yes I have been happy with mine. What is the eol for this tablet for updates.

Probably not. I mainly bought it in hopes of custom ROMs (and maybe even running pure Linux on it), or Linux on Dex support (even if rooting is needed). Sadly neither panned out, and we're left with a device that is amazing all around on a hardware level, but is limited by the OS.
I really wish someone picked up native Linux development on it, even a barebones Linux distro support would be awesome (though I'm quite partial to Debian/Ubuntu).

Agree. I'm probably going to sell mine. Sad because the hardware build is pretty awesome. Just bought a s6 lite to mod.

I bought it with the same premise, I was almost sure we will have Linux on dex, and they just abandoned the project.
It's really sad tbh, the machine is great though spec wise but I'll certainly won't give in on premises when I'll upgrade.
Most likely a windows hybrid machine for me so I can have Linux too or an iPad.

As I see it, our tab s6 LTE is the last tab this size with such excellent HW. Tab S8 doesn't even have an AMOLED screen. S8 ultra is definitely to big for how I use it with one hand ... .

Yes. Even rooted it's a PIA to (kinda) constrain Samsung & Google apps.

Overall it's been a pretty good tablet. I must say I'm surprised at the lack of community development for it. I do tire of the warnings when utilizing full brightness and loudest audio. Not buying the new one, way too big. I'll hold out for a bit, and see what else comes out.

+1 ! And we might even get android 13
m.

At the time I bought my Tab S6 it was the only high-end Android tablet on the market, so I feel like I didn't have a choice. I've never like liked Samsung's UIs, they're always half baked copies of Apple and without all the thought and polish. On top of that, forcing junk like Bixby and their own app store incredibly annoying.
Like others in this thread I really hopped that we see some cool ROMs for it, but alas, we're all stuck with the dumpster fire that is One UI. At the end of the day though, it was worth the money, even if it is to say that at least I'm don't have an Apple constantly sucking money out of my wallet.

I bought mine on ebay, and the seller LIED.
I thought I was getting the 8GB RAM/256GB model, but he shipped me the 6GB /125GB unit. I demanded a return, but he sent me back a large partial refund. So I got the 2nd best tablet for pretty cheap. And I love it. Initially I was going to resell it & get the 8GB model, but I have no performance issues at all. Of course I can't stand all of Samsung's bloat, but right now it does everything I need. I usually root all my devices to get rid of all the bloat & stop the ads, but since this is WIFI only, the only place I use it is at home. The limited ad block in my Tomato router stops most of it, I may never root it. I would definitely buy this again, but I would like to try the 8GB model.

I've my since September 2019 and also still not rooted - unusual for me but I really don't see any reason - private DNS blocks ads without any hassle

i had been waited for so long to grap my tab s6 wifi since tab s(1)
wanted to upgrade but the feedbacks were not impreesive for tab s2 to s5, and they didn't include a spen, so tab s6 was definitely my choice
i like apple's design but i hate those proprietary things, and i never own one
i like oled so tab s6 lite, tab s7, tab s8 are not my cup of tea. but for the oled versions they are too expensive and in fact, they are too heavy for me so, no go. more, i am not a fan of punch hole thing
i am satisfied with my tab s6, the only thing is there is no custom roms or kernels as mentioed by @DaveImagery . i planned to make a custom kernel but i cant handle another device at the same time now (getting older and older, wont be able to open over 1000 files to work with anymore) as i am still working on the note9 kernel
@meduza hopefully we will get 13 but according to the news only the 5G version will have an upgrade to 13

@ykkfive
absolutely +1 regarding AMOLED and tab s7 and s8 ! My tab s6 LTE was also an upgrade from tab S
Yeah, I saw also something about android 13 and tab s6 5g ... . But there is still hope though m.

Got the same problem with Amazon Germany as I ordered a 8/256 GB T860 version but received a 6/128 GB version by October 2019 !
Got a full refund and as I thought it was a mistake I placed a new order again for the 8/256 GB but again received a 6/128 GB version !!! Grrrrr
Once again got a full refund and finally placed my order for the 8/256 GB model on Samsung France website as by the meantime I received a promo code to get the Samsung Cover keyboard for free...
I never received any ads with non rooted Samsung devices from Samsung and it's very easy to remove bloatwares with adb command even if you are not rooted !!!
I finally rooted my Tab S6 mostly to preserve my privacy and my security ! ^^
Amoled Tab S7 or Tab S8 are too big for me so I will keep this Tab S6 as long as possible...

What phone to buy?

Okay, so now, today I´m going to change my actual Phone (Z3 Compact) and don´t know what take, LG G4 and Zenfone are not available for sell here, and I don´t like HTC too much, so my options are Galaxy S6 Edge 64 GB or iPhone 6 Plus 64 GB.
I tried and tested both devices before, and I like both, but I don´t know if take the risk with Galaxy S6 Edge because of his RAM Managment problems, because idk if that problem is even going to be fixed. The other things, camera, screen, features, etc are very good, also I like the Edge desing, it is very new and cool.
Apart of that, I liked the very smoth UI, interface and ecosistem of iOS, it can handle a looot of Apps in background with only 1GB (I don´t need those called "true multitasking" because it seems to not exist in Galaxy S6). I don´t care about how closed iOS is, because I can jailbreak it anyway. The things that I not like from iPhone 6 are that the specs maybe can´t run future apps and get obsolete after some time.
Conclusion: I dont know, I tried both, I liked both, first I was going to purchase S6 until I know about the Ram problems, then I give a try to iPhone 6 and now I can´t decide, for me is a risk take S6 knowing his very serious Ram problem, so what I need now is some opinions to help me finally decide for one, I need to know your experiences guys
Thanks!
You sound like an iphone guy to me. Not being funny, but a friend once asked me the same question. He just wanted a phone to work and I suggested he go for the iphone. It was an iphone 4 and he still uses it happily.
I'd say go for an iphone.
p.s. there is no serious RAM problem. Apps load into memory and work.

Well, I like how IOS just works, what I not like too much are the specs, because I use the phones for intensive tasks and do a lot of multitask, already tried galaxy s6 and I see for my own that the problem with ram management is very serious because it close almost everything and sometimes only keeps light apps (caller, contacts) in background. I like Android, used it for almost 3 last years, but now it get complicated because I need a good flagship phone, and LG G4 for example is not available to purchase yet in my country, neither Zenfone 2 (Ok maybe it is not a flagship, but his multitasking seems very awesome). Last I don't like HTC too much, so it is not a option for me. So my only election now is galaxy s6 and iPhone 6 Plus, but each time I remember how bad was s6 with multitasking in a test I do, I rethink again to purchase iPhone 6. If atleast someone confirm that the problem is going to be fixed, I will go direct to samsung, but until now after some months I don't see nothing yet.
I had a galaxy s6 ,now i have iphone 6 ...
Galaxy s6 is a good phone but with a big problem for ram management...antutu benchmark show me 67000 point ... And the galaxy was no very smooth... Try to find a phone in 2015 with 67000 point on antutu who are not smooth...i don t understand that... It s for that i have iPhone 6 ... And it s more limited for customization but is always simple and smooth. I was very tired to try to fond solution to made my galaxy smooth...it s not normal for a flagship at 700 euros .
With iphone i am happy,i don t Like Apple , but the ram management is Better and it s stable .
The galaxy s6 has a Better camera that is true but photo with iPhone are not bad

cant you wait a couple of months for the NOTE 5/6s...? if you can then i suggest you wait, i have a galaxy S6, and i am very satisfied with it, its smooth most of the time, sometimes i notice some stutter, sometimes the screen response after a second of the actual touch, but i am very happy with it, i know there is a ram problem, but i hardly open a couple of apps, so it doesn't bother me, the iphone 6 is a great phone, no doubt, but you have to consider the cons of the OS, its very limited, you can't do anything without being an itunes user, a bit smaller screen, if you option for the 6 plus then you get the better iphone, though its a bit too big, and too thin, so the bendgate thing is true, and i saw one with someone i know which had a bend, i would say the thing that decides for most people here is the OS....i highly recommend you to wait for the NOTE 5,6S,nexus #......

I was thinking the same, if not purchase nothing yet and wait for future flagships and future iPhone, but in that case when new flagship comes I am going to want next ones and in this way I am never going to get nothing haha. Also, today I am to capital city of my country where I can find the best prices for unlocked versions, so, most probable is that I'm going to purchase the new phone today, the problem is I can't decide yet lol... I think I'm going to explode

The problem is that yesterday sammobile tested an early build of 5.1.1 for Galaxy S6, and someone ask to they if the ram management problem persist in that build, sammobile answers the question saying that the problem is still happening on that 5.1.1 build. Yes it was a early build, but, that answer give me bad hopes, and coming from samsung Idk if they care so much about this serious problem because they anyway sell a lot... I'm about to purchase s6, but this problem is regret me from doing that.

iOS handles RAM management very differently than Android. Only a handful of apps are truly allowed to run in the background. Regardless of if it's listed in the recent apps menu or not, almost all apps are suspended if it's not actively being used. This way of interacting with apps may be preferable for some.
Yes, I use both an iPhone and Android device on a daily basis, I'm not trying to knock either, they both have their merits, but also drawbacks

No, we aren't talking about that, the problem is real, sorry.
I'm yet no know what phone get, I'm in the mall for almost 3 hours, I just see both phones front of me and both are beautiful for my eyes lol...

Overall love

Yes, yes, it's possible to love a phone. Heck, you sleep next to it, don't you? Rate this thread to indicate your love for the Samsung Galaxy Note FE, all things considered. A higher rating indicates that the Samsung Galaxy Note FE is an incredible phone that you enjoy tremendously. You love it.
Then, drop a comment if you have anything to add!
It is simply the MOST beautiful thing... Sometimes I find myself just staring at it.
I need a life.
Estetically astonishing, an amazing swansong for the pre "infinity display" desing language at Samsung. If it weren't for all that crappy bloatware. If only I were brave enough to root it. If only i could have one N935F just released in some asian markets like Malaysia.
Much love
The FE just became available here in Manila so i quickly pounced on one. I really liked the Note 7 when it came out and was sorely disappointed when it ended so badly
This phone is magnificent, I have the N8 as well but the FE fits in my hand better and is easier for me to handle. Sort of the difference between an S7 and an S8 overall but very happy to add to my collection. This one is a real keeper here as resale is nil and barely anyone know about it.
Also important for me it's a dual SIM version!
Definite love
Great phone! Dimension, FP reader position, battery life are all to my liking. Top notch phone! Accessories are much cheaper too! lol!
Price of phone could have been slightly lower though.
4.5/5 for me.
note fe is very good, similar to note 8, the price is also affordable, if we talk about the hardware also still able to survive at least 2 or 3 more years (I think)
I just love it too, seriously. Although not being able to root it (for now I hope!) makes me a bit frustrated.. Overall, I agree that the price could have been a bit lower but it's a Note so that's quite understandable...
I'll keep it and keep loving it until there's a really more appealing phone released which I think, won't be released soon as this Infinity-whatever trend of Samsung of the newest devices is just awful to me..
I highly prefer my capacitive navbar and the 16:9 ratio lol
I'm considering buying one. But with shipping and import...that'll be at least 600 EUR, probably more towards 650. The Note8 is already sold at 750, even Dual-Sim. Is it worth shelling out that much (I actually only hate the S8/Note8 because of the rear-mounted FP sensor).

The Note FE is the last of his kind, physical front home button, 16:9 ratio.
It's not a bad thing so I ordered one instead of the Note 8 even if price is almost the same.
This phone is made for the Fan only
Hm, I thought about ordering a few so as to minimize my costs. But looking at prices for Note8 on ebay, I doubt this will be a success, if you can buy a European dual-sim Note8 with local warranty for only 50-100 Euros more. Would really need someone who appreciates the front FP as much as I do.
i just traded my s7 with the fe. reasons:
1. i skipped s8 and newer ones because i really despise having to pickup the whole phone from table just to securely unlock it. i trust biometric as far more secure, accurate and convenient compared to password, pin or pattern. the fingerprint scanner must always in the front, ready on your command only by using 1 finger. i readily accept last year hardware performance for this, i really don't mind since they are already powerful enough
2. the design is simply gorgeous and i luv it for still giving my finger some space to grip it on landscape mode because i enjoy watching video on my phone quite a lot during travel/commute. newer phone designs barely give anything to grip
i really wish the design trend will reverse but if it doesn't i think this will be the last time i upgrade my phone. lol
The main issues for me are a) no AOSP/LOS/RR (can't stand Touchwiz or Samsung Experience), b) not much community/official/3rd party development/support, and c) I just can't find it anywhere near me or I would have bought it (despite the curvy edges and non-replaceable battery).
Bought the blue dual sim Note FE about 5 months ago. Always wanted a Note device but choosing this one over the newer models, is due to the consideration of the smaller size and the much more beautiful design (imo) the the front fingerprint sensor. Kinda disappointed that the custom scene is not big, but at this moment in time and considering how stable and good the phone has been so far, rooting it will be enough for me.
Reading though about losing some samsung apps is worrisome though. Apart from the samsung pay (don't care at all as I don't pay through the phone), knox, what else won't work after rooting? Is there a list somewhere?

Hi i was thinking the same as you till month ago . But believe me no need at all , first now we got Android 9 with all new look. Second you can install rootless substratum with andromeda , you will find many themes.
Third now there are many apps that will cover your needs instead of rooting . Just dig in xda
Finally Samsung firmware is very complicated. I used to root my note 3 . It was rootable . It works ok but with some bugs . But now i think that any custom rom will give you a hard time fixing bugs especially with latest version of samsung note .
And all custom rom will not be friendly with s pen features.

Thank you for your response. The biggest reason that I want root is to install an ad blocker like adaway and ad-free YouTube as ads can be really annoying to me. But I will surely check the substratum that you mentioned.

Are you guys still feeling samsung? (Snapdragon users)

I'm not sure if I'd like to continue using Samsung, now that the snapdragon versions can't be bootloader unlocked anymore.
I find it extremely frustrating not being able to downgrade my OS from bad updates.
I'm also very frustrated not to be able to do full nandroid backups (including EFS).
Not having any custom roms is also very disappointing.
If exynos didn't have such bad idle battery life, I'd use exynos.
At this point, I think the only thing I'm attracted to on the samsung devices is the color from their amoled.
Good or bad, I'd like to hear you snapdragon users give your opinion on how happy you are with the current samsung snapdragon devices, what would be your ideal alternative device to samsung? And why?
Also, let me know if you're a generic user or hardcore enthusiast.
I've had a Note since the Note 4...which was an absolutely amazing device in my opinion. Most of the stuff I own are Samsung products...except for my laptop. They have quality products...but every year I find it harder to justify the price tag...considering all the competition there is now...amazing devices for much less. I currently have the Note 10 now but I don't really think I'll upgrade to the next one next year. Especially with how far OnePlus devices have come among other devices. Maybe the next Pixel will be worth the upgrade. I used to root, custom roms and all that as well. But, for me it's mostly the price tag that's turning me away from Samsung.
Back in the day of ****ty OEM skins, I was a crack flasher and used TWRP & TiBU almost daily. But Samsung One UI has come a long way since Touchwiz. I actually enjoy using the stock ROM and don't feel the need to immediately wipe it with something else. It already offers 95% of what I'd fix with a custom ROM. I honestly don't miss wiping it and starting all over with each new version of a custom ROM. All of my important files are stored in the cloud or email, and I don't use any apks that are unavailable outside of the Play Store, apk mirror or other web sites, so no need to backup those. I use Adguard which does a great job, so no need to root just for adblocking. I use CCSWE App Manager to disable bloatware that I will never use. My Note 10 battery lasts all day every day, so no need to flash tweaks/mods to eek out more juice. Overall, I really have no need to root anymore. But if I absolutely *had* to root my phone today, I'd probably go with something from OnePlus. I had a P2XL which was a great phone for its time, but the new Pixels are just meh imo. Their camera system is the only thing that sets them apart. The rest of the phone is underwhelming and overpriced for what you get.
Yeah Samsung screens are amazing, and so is there hardware. Example i was trying to WI-FI Direct Joker to my mates Huawei P20 or something can't really remember exact model around 7/8 mins in it was around 40% ish percent i had a phone call i had to run, so i came back 20 mins later used WI-FI direct again we must have got up to 60% this was well over ten mins he had to shoot see what I’m trying to say yeah Huawei, Apple and all the other manufactures are good,
But you can’t beat Samsung hardware. i WI-FI directed the joker it's 2.4 gig file size from my Tab S SM-T705 LTE which is 5 years old to my Note 9 in under 3 mins also my Tab S 8.4 picks up most Wi-Fi hotspots i work in a car park i have tried few year old iPhone and Huawei witch is last year’s model its co-workers phone they pick up eff all i would have to go out of the car park to pick up the hotspots while my Samsung Tab S from 2014 picks up all the free Wi-Fi networks Apple Huawei use trash hardware Samsung hardware Rocks!
People think yeah I’m paying half of what Samsung is charging but when it comes to little things that actually matter in real world usage that's where Samsung is leaps ahead of the competition.
Samsung Snapdragon bootloaders have been locked for years. I used the Note 8 as my primary device for 2 years, and have been using the Note 10+ since release date. The battery life just keeps getting better. I haven't had a reason to root since the Note 4. Android updates don't seem to change much in recent years, they mainly just make the overall system smoother. I've never felt like a previous version was better than the recent update. Overall, I'd rather give Samsung my money to keep making quality products with premium hardware. I also use Dex daily with my Surface Pro.

General I hope it doesn't have a curved screen

I really want to go back to a Pixel but I can't do the curved screens. I'm one of those people who actually puts his phones in a case and they don't work well with curved screens.
EDIT 10/6: Pre-ordered 7 Pro. The trade in for my 12 Pro Max with Best Buy was just too good to pass up, essentially makes the phone free once I find something to use the gift card for.

I use the Zizo Bolt with my Samsung N10+'s and it works very well. Occasionally causes cut/paste problems but going to landscape fixes that. Prevents accidental touches and keeps the phone undamaged. The curved screens absolutely need cases with -slightly- higher than display right/left edge guards or they will likely get destroyed.
Do Pixel's have any curve nested apps like Samsung ie One Handed Operation plus? Otherwise empty curves are sort of wasted space. I use both sides as app launchers and to control various switches.
At first I wasn't sure about the curve display but after a couple months I started to prefer curved over flat. Much easier to keep clean and great for vids. I don't even think about them now after over 2 years. Visually it took some adjustment for me... the visual cortex adapts and integrates.
It has a curved screen. The sneak peak during I/O made that clear.
I'd go back to a Pixel if it didn't suck. P6 was a f&[email protected]( disaster, and still is.
If you don't want a curved screen you can go for Pixel 7 instead of Pro. It has a flat screen!

It's rumored to have a 6.2" screen which is too small.
I guess Google doesn't want my business so I'll stick with OnePlus.

Yeah but OnePlus keeps screwing up the software and there isn't even an MSM Tool for the 10 Pro so if you brick it, which seems to be way too easy to do on OnePlus devices (I have done it multiple times on my 9 despite doing everything right when trying to flash a custom ROM and would have been in a situation if the MSM Tool wasn't available), you are screwed.
Additionally, they have been throttling CPU performance. My Geekbench single core score on the latest OOS 12 is around 800 which makes my 888 slower than the 865. They changed the way they do the throttle as well, it can no longer be disabled with a Magisk tweak. OnePlus' answer to all of us who are complaining about how unresponsive the browser and other operations can be? Toggle high performance mode to force the phone to use high clocks all the time, even when idle, at the cost of much higher power consumption and heat than if they just left the processor alone to begin with. They haven't released OOS12 kernel source that's usable either so no custom kernel around to fix it unless you flash to a custom ROM.
So yeah, I feel like I'm being forced to go back to iOS. At least Apple listens to feedback and fixes bugs, OnePlus doesn't even seem to care about that anymore, and Apple doesn't throttle their SoCs, has prompt updates (OnePlus has been giving India updates first and has been leaving EU and global a month behind and we were already multiple months behind China), and has incredible battery life without having to disable basically every premium feature in the phone.
And yeah, Samsung is a no go for me since the Note 5. Swore that would be my last Samsung and as long as they encrypt the bootloader on Snapdragon variants, I will stick to that.
I guess I better start saving for that 14 Pro Max......

A sad state of ball dropping screwups when an Apple starts looking like a viable alternative.
The only flagship Samsung I would recommend is the Note 10+ N975U1. The Beast is a sublime work horse that just keeps running. New can be had loaded with Android 10, but forget trying to root this variant. It runs well stock though.
After that Samsung started going downhill, more hype than meat. If Samsung had a good new flagship it be in my hand.
Between Google Android 11/12, Samsung's no SD card and other insanities, I went with my second new N10+; twins. The one in my hand will be 3 yo this September, current load is 2 yo.
No detectable display degradation of any kind in spite of thousands of hours of use. It looks and runs like new. The only repair has been a replacement battery, due for another soon as it's heavily used. It's a dual drive 1.5tb machine that doesn't run out of ram.
It's a snappy fast phone that's still fun and fulfills its mission. I'm good for another 2-3+ years. Whatever... I'm not buying the hype or the junk.

I was on iOS from 2017 until 2021. Had the 8 Plus, XS Max, and still have my 12 Pro Max lying here. The lack of customization for notifications bugs me and the annoyance of having to manually sign apps to sideload them was obnoxious but I can live without customization and sideloading if I have a device that just performs well. Apple's hardware is solid too, I didn't have a single hardware issue with any of them.
I can't bring myself to buy anything but new flagships. I would just feel like I threw money away if I went to an older device, even if it's stable. This is obviously a psychological issue, I have many of those lol, but it is what it is. The OnePlus works fine on OOS11 for the most part but again, I can't bring myself to be okay with not running Android 12. I am actually pretty annoyed with some issues with the Indian ROM I flashed on here though so I may just decide to stick with OOS11, root it, and disable the performance throttling either with a custom kernel or by the Magisk module I mentioned because I would probably be able to accept that tradeoff but I always get FOMO whenever a new update comes out.
It's good that you found something you are happy with though. I haven't been totally happy with a phone since the HTC U11 although I will say the 12 Pro Max was close and if it wasn't for the fact that my cheap MVNO doesn't have a carrier bundle on iOS which cost me 5G access, I probably would have just stuck with it. Since I held onto it though and paid in full for my 9, I have a $650 trade in value which will probably drop to $450-$500 when the 14 models drop in the fall which makes the price tag much easier to swallow.
I have some hope OnePlus may get it right with Android 13 so I'm going to see how that goes but if not, and no other viable options (has to have compatibility with all US carriers, has to have an unlockable bootloader, has to have at least a 6.4" screen that's not curved, and has to have at least 8GB of RAM), it's back to Apple.

Android 9 may be the best. Haven't played much with the Android 10 N10+ but noticed Karma Firewall lost it's valuable logging feature due to it.
My old free copy of WPS Office works in both version as do most of my trusted overlay apps.
Android 9 and above are all reasonably secure unless you do something stupid. No malware on this 2 yo Pie load yet.
I use Poweramp as my player, just my music files alone are over 225gb.
An SD card is mandatory. I can do a full reload with no internet connection; the SD card is the data drive which is backed up redundantly. Even has all my apps as installable copies, no Playstore needed. So a factory reset isn't that big of a deal if I have to... anytime, anywhere.
Only the DCIM folder (backed up regularly to the data drive), the download folder and the installed apps go on the internal memory. No cloud anything needed or wanted other than Gmail.
So the hardware and firmware aren't my prime consideration, why should they be? It was a step learning curve to optimize these devices. Them fulfilling their mission is my primary consideration. I'm an Android pragmatist, I got out of the Samsung/ Android hype loop over 6 years ago. If not proven good, I'm not using it.
Got lucky with the N10+... always wanted a Note.
Firmware upgrades and updates (apps as well) can and do break things. No need to constantly be chasing the loose ends they create, so I don't.
Pretty much solid play time... that's the plan
Pro version will have a curve screen ... that is a problem with most manufacturer now
i am not a fan of curve screen too.. i went to get p6 and it is ok at first then it has bugs soon after .. another pain is for countries which is not officially sold, it wont be able to use VoLTE and VoWiFi. Need to root and modify the xml ... ah well cant say much about that since it is not official sold.
Seems like OP also is not so great now since they are under OPPO now and Sammy is just too expensive now with more or less not so exiting tech.
Other china phones? that is another story

Yeah I went back to OOS11 last night and I'm going to stick with it for a bit. It seems to work pretty well although I'm annoyed at the discovery that the module that was posted to alter the CPU throttling doesn't actually seem to work fully even on OOS 11.2.10.10. I don't want to go any older than that though so I guess it is what it is at this point. Games definitely are smoother at least. Still not as smooth a iOS though...
I wouldn't mind having an SD card again. I have gotten used to not having one but it does get annoying having to back up my OnePlus backups to the PC when I have to factory reset and then move them back. In the time it took to copy from the PC back to the phone last night, I was able to floss and brush my teeth. When I got back to the computer, the bar was at the very end.
This phone will work for now on OOS11. I really hope that OnePlus listens with OOS13 because I really don't want to buy another phone but being stuck on Android 11 isn't going to be enough for me.

This is why I committed to using the N10+'s for likely another 2-3+ years by buying a second new running on Android 10. Both will likely never be upgraded beyond 10.
Not for everyone but I absolutely wuv this Note. At this point it's optimized very well and is just a gorgeous beast of a work horse. Using a SD card as the data drive adds a layer of protection and redundantly to the device. With a mobo failure or a system crash the data drive will likely be untouched.
So now the processors are too fast to be practical so they throttle them?
Even though the N10+ doesn't have the thinner cpu chipset form factor or the fastest memory it runs almost as fast as the S22U in normal usage.
With the N9 the lag vs N10+/N20U/N22U is quite noticeable. The S22U has a huge battery and less SOT than the N10+. Weights a full display cracking ounce more too.
For what?
If you listen to all the hype the latest Androids sound wonderful... until you think it through and realize what is important for your device to fulfill its mission. That's why a well designed/built 3 yo model running on 2.5 yo firmware can still effectively compete with the newest phones.

The annoying thing about the throttling is that it's not necessary. I have used a custom ROM on here and they don't have any of the throttling and it's no problem. Sure, the device gets a bit warmer under load, but it's not dangerously hot, we are talking like 42-48C, well within all normal tolerances. People ***** about their devices being warm and everyone suffers for it. Unfortunately every custom ROM I have tried has issues ranging from a stuttering UI to broken NFC and the fingerprint reader being off center so after the last attempt flashing a custom ROM resulted in a brick, I just went back to OOS and stayed there. Maybe it is time to try again though, I will run OOS11 for a few days and see if I can get used to it.
Honestly I really like my Pixel 3 XL, it's just too slow and lacking in RAM for me to make it my daily driver. The memory is more the issue than the Snapdragon 845 honestly.
P3XL was a great phone, i used it until it went dead last year. Then i went for p6 in hope for a better support and features as promised but then again ...
anyway p6 suffers from bugs since first update and i think still until now it has not been sort out yet. The thing i like about pixel is you can still flash it via fastboot and the image it officially available in the support page.
Just that if the country is not an official country that sell pixel then you will be stuck with no VoLTE and VoWiFi and that is a hassle

My OnePlus 9 has better specs across the board than the Pixel 6 besides the cameras. OOS12 is terrible but I don't mind OOS11 so if OnePlus goes back to their roots with OOS13 like they are promising, I may stick around, and besides, the custom ROMs for this device are pretty good so I can just as easily just stick to those.
Qualcomm > Samsung and I don't see that changing with the 7 series.

I think the non-pro Pixels are a better value anyways, seeming as this launch won't be too different to the Pixel 6s apart from minor upgrades like a new SoC with moderate performance increase.

I can't go from a 6.55" screen to a 6.2" screen though. Honestly I would rather have a 6.7"-6.10" screen. I could go from 6.55 to 6.4 but with them shrinking the screen size on the 7, it's a nonstarter.

When will you upgrade from your Tab S6 and what wiill you buy?

Now that the s6 has nearly reached the end of its support in terms of new FW updates, are you looking to the future of your tablet usage, and what are you thinking of replacing it with?
A new Galaxy tab model?
The new Google Pixel tab?
Surface Pro?
iPad?
Chromebook/tablet
Something else?
Do you plan on using the tablet until you run it into the ground, or do you think you may replace it in the near future?
Personally, I use an iPad now and just have the Tab as a secondary / work tablet so i am in no hurry to replace it, it works great still and I don't really see myself buying a new Android tablet again any time soon. I pefer iPad generally although the Tab S6 has its quirks that I really love, like the DEX mode.
I do like DeX mode, but I am otherwise pretty fed up with Samsung. Not least because DeX on an external monitor has been broken for about a year now on my Tab S6. I will have a good look at the Pixel Tablet and see how I like that.
I'm not happy this tablet didn't make the cut for more updates, but it currently still works well otherwise.
Since I use my tablet heavily for videos, and Samsung makes good screens, I'll probably stick with Samsung, but... I don't want to go to larger sizes to get OLED screens. 10.5 -11 inches works well for me if the screen is good. I may need to look at other options if they keep doing what they did with the S8 series.
Anyway, I'm curious what they do with the S9, likely later this year. It may be time to trade in for an upgrade, or I may try to hang on for the S10 to come out. I've learned not to hang onto tech for too long, because if it dies it has minimal trade in value, and buying when desperate also tends to mean missing out on good deals.
I have brought galaxy tab s8 ultra months ago, and i use both. Each one is better for different tasks..
Hi, i bought tabs6 3 years back. I recently dropped and cracked it. The displays all black. Its repair cost right now is 80% of its total price. Can anyone help me with better alternative.
New Lenovo tablets look very good. A lot cheaper too
