I lost the charger that came with the phone so got myself another charger. This new charger takes a hell of a long time to charge the phone, takes around 3-4 hours to get a full charge. I see that the Current rating is a pathetic 0.7A.
Could anyone let me know what is the Ampere rating of the charger that came with the phone? I'm thinking of buying a 2A charger for quick charging, anyone using such a charger and will that be safe? Thanks in advance for the answers!
It's 0.7A too.

I personally bought two of these the last time they were offered on Groupon. They just happen to be available again. $15 for NEW $10 for re-certified.
I went with re-certified and they looked and worked great, just minor blemishes.

Does it work well with the V10?
Can you tell the difference between the charging time of original fast charger vs turbocharger?
Thanks.
Bob
it seems that according to your test it does not work as a quick charger...
"Just took it out of the box, had 40%. Plugged it into my motorola turbo charger, with long flat braided cloth cable, it was charging at 5v.. I switched out the cable and used the 24awg cable from ZeroLemon's charger and it went to 9v. 40-80% in 30mins~ Main screen off (using OLED USB Doctor sleeve)"
I tried three different chargers and they all show that they charge at about the same rate in the app Ampere. The first was the fast charger that came with the phone, second was the newer turbo charger that comes with the turbo 2, and the last charger I used was the original turbo charger with a detachable USB cable. All are pretty close to the 940mA-1200mA range.
So if you need a cheap, quick charger the one in the OP should work.

Works great with the V10, I would re-read my post (you'll see I was using a different long cheap cable), used it with my Z3, G4 and N6 as well. Check my posts in the the Fast Chargers thread for more details. http://forum.xda-developers.com/lg-v10/accessories/fast-chargers-t3226944/page2
I personally gave up on chargers and care 2 spare batteries with me though out the day. Then recharge at bedtime.

Thanks for the clarification. Yes, reading comprehension problems...
I do have the right cable for the turbo charger 15 so that is great news.
This is phonearena's result with the G4 with turbocharger 15:
"So, what happens if a Quick Charge 2.0 charger is plugged into the LG G4 instead of the phone's stock one? Well, that's the question we wanted to answer, so we drained the G4's battery and then recharged it using a QC2.0-enabled Motorola Turbo charger. It recharged our LG G4 in 98 minutes, which was an improvement of 23% over the phone's stock charger. In this scenario, the first 10 minutes of charging gave us 15% of battery juice, and after 30 minutes of charging, the battery level indicator was reading 39%. The charging process went at a steady, linear pace until we reached a battery level of 85% in 1 hour and 9 minutes. Around that point, the charging rate dropped – the battery was being slowly topped off."

I have 4 chargers on hand listed below...
1. Original Samsung Adaptive USB Charger
2. Anker PowerCore+ 10050+ QC 2.0 Charger
3. Anker PowerCore 10000
4. Pleson Fast Wireless Charger
Now my question is why is my S8+ charging similarly with all these chargers? Example @ 30%.... The Adaptive charger says 1 hr 9 min (reads fast charge), the Anker 10050+ says 1 hr 25 min (doesn't read fast charge), The Anker PowerCore 10000 says 1 hr 25 min (Not a fast charger), and the Pleson Fast Wireless Charger says 1 hr 44 min. I am confused.

Because only 1st one is actually fast charging your phone.
You should try 2 and 4 with original cable. If you have qualcomm version of s8 shold work
I'd echo the original cable and the wall plug that came with the device. Retry all 4 of these with the original cable and the wall plug.
Well I don't know if the Anker products are charging oddly because one is QC 2.0 and the other isn't, yet both have same 59 min charge time. So I question is the Samsung Adaptive charger is charging slow or fast? Here are some pics of the remaining charge with original black USB Cable.
From my experience, Samsung Devices don't really play nice with qc certified devices thanks to Sammy doing their own thing. What you are seeing is what made me buy Samsung's power kit.

I have no issues with my chargers, use stock charger blk, use sammy wireless charge pad with aftermarket cable and s7e wall plug charger and no issues. Still get fast charge. I even have a portable 10000mah sammy pack and use my gopro usb-c cable n gef fast charge.

Had similar problem. All my Anker QC2.0 doesn't fast charge my S8 while 3.0 does. got them both refunded while they are investigating.

Strange
does that mean S8 has QC 3.0
Yes I am in talks with Anker as well, seeing what they find out about my QC 2.0 Anker charger.

They sent me another QC 2.0 car charger, and it did not fast charge. I am going to try Berkin USB-PD car charger and see how it goes.
Estimated time. Don't expect them to always show exactly the time.
I have QC 2.0 and 3.0 chargers and they all "fast charge" but I don't expect what the estimated time show to fully charge be accurate or else they wouldn't say estimate.

Yes except bestbuy carries that with a dual Samsung fast charger for car and a nice wireless upright fast charger all in one box for about $99 on sale every other week. Way more consistent everywhere now.

Compared to my s7edge this s8+ charges a lot slower. The s7e would fast charge and wirelessly fast charge from any third party wireless pads/adapters.
The s8+ is finicky about what activates fast charge (especially wireless) and even while in fast charge it does not charge as fast as s7.
My guess is samsung slowed the charging down to help with battery degradation.
I found a weird thing last night when I set my phone to charge at 2 AM with about 7% battery just to wake up around 6 AM and it being at 86% charged. That was a long time, I don't know what's going on. Either the phone isn't quick wireless charging or the Pleson Fast Wireless pad I have sucks.

So, I've seen this behavior too. If you see the charge stuck, unplug the cable and plug it back in. I'm not sure why, but that fixes the issue immediately.
Are you guys charging in a warm room? S8 will stop charging if the battery exceeds a certain temperature. Samsung really went overboard with battery safety after the Note 7.
guys even when my battery care is off charging speed is pretty slow takes around 2:30-3 hours for a full charge.
quick charge should be 60% in 30 minutes right? I wouldnt mind it being 2 times slower than that, full charge at 100 minutes which is 1:40 hours but to get to almost 3 hours its even worse than no quick charge phones
how can I fix this?

Ive got the same charger bro and mine just charged 38% in 40 minutes
I bought a vetter charger with qc3 and it's charging from 10% to 100% in ~2h40m, with battery care disabled. This qnovo is really bad.
0-50% 2400mah
50-60% 2000mah and so on.
I've bought a Anker quick charger 3.0.

well maybe so but the higher the percentage the slower the charge speed, which leads to total of 2:40 hours to full charge up to 3:00 hours sometimes
so maybe the first 60-80% are quite fast but it still takes around 100 minutes to get to 80% and another 60 minutes for the other 20% at least which leads to a total of around 160 minutes which is around 160 minutes in total which in quick charge it should do 80% in 35 minutes and the other 20% in 40 minutes or so which leads to total of 75 minutes which is more than 2 times less.
and to think of the first 80% in quick charge it even does it almost 3 times faster!
Your charger is not quickcharge. Quickcharge must have lightning with 3.0 simbol near USB plug and P+ with 2.0 simbol on the other side of plug. Only Sony UCH12W has Quick Charge™ 3.0 and Pump Express Plus™ 2.0. Your Chrger is Sony UCH20C. Am I wright?

yes but thats not the case, I checked youtube, even stock charger is faster to get to 60% than other devices (except the 1+5) but after 60 it just dies! slow as hell
even on quick charge 3.0 it maybe charged to 70/80% faster than stock charger but it still took it 2:40 hours to get to full 100% just like stock charger
so im guessing sony has their reason for shipping the phone with stock charger as it is even faster than other devices to charge to 60% so fast charge wouldnt help it so much because of qnovo
Hi using mu old adapter from S20Ultra I think it's 25W. Supercharging kind of works.
Should I buy 45W or 65W adapter? Any better?
No, You will only get improvement of 5-10 minutes with 45w charger.
I disagree with how people view the need to upgrade to a fast charger.
They usually say, as above, no need - you only get 5 to 15 minutes of improvement.
This is not untrue.
But this is not the only use of a super fast charger.
The benefit of a super fast charger is when your batter level is below 60%.
Say its at 30% and you need to leave home/work soon and won't have a charger for a while. It'll take it to 60% at a rate of 30 to 45 watts.
So faster than our 25 watt charger.
So the benefit is not "you'll only get to 100% 10 minutes faster".
Its for increasing charge from low to mid state faster than a regular charger.
I know this because I have a watt meter attached to my USB charger.

What's that means?
You should buy the 45W SFC charger, yes. Make sure to get a proper cable for it too. There is a variation of it which comes with a cable, the other one without.
As for the 65W, no. It won't be any faster than the 45W charger. The phone cannot charge faster than that.
However if you plan to charge two devices at once (i presume you mean the dual charger 65w) then yes, go for it.
I use a Samsung 65W charger on my S22 Ultra. It charges my phone MUCH faster than any other Samsung charger I own. And yes, I only use OEM chargers, no aftermarket chargers.
