Samsung gives an update on GPS on facebook...

"Samsung continues to listen to customer feedback on GPS performance expectations on launched Galaxy S devices. We are currently testing software updates which will optimize GPS performance.
We expect to be able to make the updates available in September and will communicate more information and download instructions in... the next few weeks.
We're testing software to optimize GPS on US Galaxy S. Expected updates avail. in Sept. Details & download to follow."

It would be nice to see this roll out with Froyo for all carriers. Too bad Froyo wont come sooner but we will get it soon enough.
Definately sounds like it will be implemented in the 2.2 update. Hopefully the earlier part of September opposed to the later.
Don't worry, if by OTA through AT&T, I am sure we won't see anything until Halloween...
They may surprise me, but I kind of hope the update gets done through some sort of direct download. Rolled up with Froyo I'll bet AT&T will be sure to man-handle it though...

They had a similar tweet from @samsungservice earlier today. I'm keeping my fingers crossed that it comes sooner rather than later.

Translation: "Please don't take your phones back! We'll fix it, honest!"
The problems must have been more major than I would have expected from their end. Even with plodding development and carrier meandering, there should have been months of advance notice of the GPS issues due to the foreign Galaxy S release, and I'd imagine AT&T would be all-too satisfied to roll it out quickly given the complaints about it.

July update OTA?

When will the international S7 receive the July update over the air? And any news about what this new update contains? (aside from the google security patches), any improvements to software?
thanks
I have the UK version of the G930F and I just got the 1-July-2016 update OTA today (12th July).

Any improvements or anything new ?!
Well I only switched to the S7 from an iPhone6 a few days ago so I probably wouldnt notice anything new yet, but I doubt there is as it is really a security patch AFAIK. I had felt some 'stickiness' in Candy Crush earlier, which now seems better but maybe that was due to a phone reboot anyway? Either way, doesn't seem a huge end user change.

New Update?

I am in the US on an unlocked S7 G930U.
Earlier this week I received notice of a Software Update.
I am always hesitant to install these updates until I know what they are and see what people are saying about their performance.
I havent seen anything about this here (am I missing it somewhere) although on GSMArena there is a scary sounding thread with people installing a recent update and having major battery issues.
Is there anyway to see what this update is before it gets installed? Any ideas? Thanks.
BTW - the update is ~452MB.

I'm kind of new here, but after reading up on the Samsung support forums apparently G930U will only be receiving quarterly security updates so this update is all of the regular updates the carrier versions have received since September rolled up into 1 large package. It's still 6.0.1, and so far, I haven't seen any adverse effects (although I'm not rooted, so no clue if it effects anything along the lines of the boot loader) Also, during my internet search on what this update was, I came across this site that lists out the firmware (and Android level) of every release for a Samsung product, which confirmed not the nougat update. - can't make a real link since I'm new to posting on XDA, so search Google for "live-samsung updates"
Hope that helps!

I updated my G930U and have had no issues. Took it off the charger this morning at 8am, it's now nearly 1pm and battery is at 97%. Obviously I haven't used it much but there's certainly no unusual standby battery issue so far.

MHA-L29c432 9.1.0.270?

Has anybody received by OTA, or installed by other means MHA-LGRP2-OVS270
It's March 2020 Security patch. I'm on MHA-L29c432 9.1.0.252(C432E7R1P8patch03), it tells me for 270 Approved but I never received any OTA over 252 (only patches)
Edit: Two months later upgraded by OTA to the newer 9.1.0.275(C432E7R1P8) with May 2020 Sec. patch
Few moments ago I got patch 5 ehich foes improve 3rd party apps compatability as described by the updater...
I attached the before and after. I wonder if this update will impact system performance as we know phone makers are sly and want us to keep changing phones [emoji19]

Same here.
Same here, on MHA-L29c432 9.1.0.252(C432E7R1P8patch03). Never got the 270 update so far.
I had my phone on HiSuite and all of a sudden I'm on 9.1.0.275(C432E7R1P8). Phone did not even reboot But must be the real deal because I have the smart battery capacity feature available that was rolled out with this update (also includes May 2020 security patches).
Finally, received also OTA 9.1.0.275(C432E7R1P8) with May 2020 Security patch, and everything so far ok
I've a MHA-L29 running 9.1.0.252 and I also didn't get .275 yet. I live in Portugal. Hopefully it will eventually come...

Note 20 ultra No updates since December 2020

Hey,. Is there something wrong or What,
I dont understand,. My Device is SM-986USQU1CTL2, their have been no software updates or security batches since December 2020. Anyone with infos
I would say you'd have to talk to your carrier, but maybe you can try submitting issue report on Samsung Members app as your fall back plan; attempt software update > immediately submit issue report on SM app.
I suggest you back up your device in case you have to flash with a latest software... flashing will delete all info in your phone so... backup backup backup
If it's running fast, stable and fulfilling its mission... leave it be.
You don't need no stinking updates.
Updates can break it especially major firmware updates. On my Note 10+ I'm still running happily on Pie. No updates in a year and a half. Zero issues... because I worked them all out. Don't add new problems when you have none.
The security vulnerabilities are just not a concern unless you do something stupid.
No saving dumb bunnies...
Always be fully backed up and ready for a factory reset at anytime though.
Pie and post Pie Androids rarely crash or get malware that requires a factory reset, but it can happen. Be prepared.
