PX6 GPS Navigation works, no GPS speed? - MTCD Android Head Units Q&A

I have an issue with a Xtrons PX6, on MTCE_GSv3.73 running Malay's Full 1.2 (but also had the issue on lite) where Google Maps works fine with GPS, and the GPS info shows good lock on etc, but I have no GPS speed input, so can't use speed by volume or the GPS speedometer on the screensaver.
I've looked through all the settings I can think of but can't see any settings related to GPS usage, apart from enabling the app access to location (which I've checked are all enabled) - any thoughts?
Thanks in advance

Can't change settings for external GPS

I need some serious help. I tried to get the Fuze GPS to work and I used GPS test and google maps. I had it working briefly. However, now my fuze will not save the hardware settings for the GPS. I have changed them under the hardware profile in system settings. Once I do this and exit, it does not save the changes. When I go back into the settings, they are the default settings again. Any help is appreciated.
What hardware settings?
In google maps settings should point to "managed by windows" in iGO and Garmin to Com4 with a 19200 bitrate in TT either Com4 or NMEA...
The "external GPS" settings. Attempting to change to COM4, but when I exit settings it doesn't save them. It did earlier in the day.
What EXTERNAL GPS unit do you have???
Don't tinker with GPS because most common you'll end up doing a hard reset!!
IF you have an EXTERNAL GPS do NOT set it to COM4 because COM4 is taken by the INTERNAL GPS.
Not using external gps. Using internal one. Try to set to com 4 unsuccesfully

No need to set ANYTHING.
Leave it alone
Why you want to play with it and change settings especially since you CONFIRMED that it works/worked
In your own words:

GPS is an issue, there are 1001 post regarding slow lock, no lock, good lock, lag and no lag - P L E A S E do some research.
For now do the following:
Power cycle phone
Go outside
Programs - Navigation - QuickGPS (to get the latest data)
Programs (or where you hide it) - Google Maps
In google maps:
menu - options - GPS settings "should say managed by windows" DO NOT CHANGE
Cancel
Menu
Use GPS and WAIT
You should get a signal within latest 10 minutes outside with an unobstructed sky view.
If NOT we can start to play
Thanks for the information. Will attempt this tomorrow. Great forums and thanks again for the help.

how to test GPS ?

After updated to android CM7 2.3.4, I found the GPS not work, but I'm not sure the problem is the GPS modul, who can tell me how to test the GPS is ok or not ?
There is an app in the market called GPS Status & Toolbox which gives you info about your GPS and sensor data: position and signal strength of satellites, accuracy, speed, acceleration, bearing.
It also let's you reset your GPS if I remember correctly.
GPS Status & Toolbox
thanks a lot
Go to market and search "GPS", you'll find many GPS testing apps.

GPS doesn't work in Google Maps - but is okay in Navigation

I've got a problem. When I open Google Maps it doesn't seem to activate my GPS so my location is decided by the operator-network and/or wifi, and is not very precise. I've tried to keep Google Maps open for a long time but my location is never that precise as when the GPS is activated. Also if I log into Android Device Manager on the web, I only get a location with an accuracy of 1.5-2 kilometres so that's neither located by GPS.
But if I then enter a route in Google Maps and use the Navigation, the GPS is turned on and everything is fine. It's the same if I use Sygic GPS Navigation. I've got Avast Anti-Theft installed on my phone and if I log into avast.com and send a location command to my phone, it's also located by GPS with an accuracy of 5 metres.
I've installed 'GPS Status & Toolbox' and set the app to show an icon in my navigation bar when the GPS is used. And it's the same as described above - when Google Maps is open there's no icon but when I use Navigation the icon it's there.
I'm pretty sure that on my last phone (Samsung Galaxy S II) with Android 4.4.2 Google Maps also used the GPS and I've got a precise location every time, so my question is how to get it in the same way on my new phone (Sony Xperia Z1) with Android 4.4.4? There are many times I just want to see on Google Maps exactly where I am without using the Navigation directions to a specific location.

Have either of you guys tried clearing app data and see if that works? Every once in a while I get that to resolve my issues.

i don't know about the gps not turning on at all, but it is a somewhat known bug on googles end when wifi is used to help location services, it frequently causes accuracy issues.
try turning off your wifi and see how it acts.
Yeah, off wifi it's more accurate. But yes, rooter, just cleared my app data and that did the trick, thanks.

Mediatek A-GPS non functional

Okay so I have a new cheapy Chinese phone a mediatek 6582 chipset. It's quite a good phone and everything is working fine except agps. AGPS is a system that gives your phone your location for any apps that require it if it cannot connect gps to a satellite, like when your indoors for example. It usually works on wi-fi rather than 3g but maybe it can work on 3g as well I dunno. Anyway the location date seems to be provided by google and I have "google location reporting" turned on. On my older android phone a list of the recent apps that asked for location data is displayed as a list on that settings page but of course on my new mediatek there is no list. Now whenever I google an answer to this I get a thousand reply's saying how to fix your mediatek gps but I'm not looking to fix my gps i'm looking to fix my a-gaps with has noting to do with the gps chip because a-gps is just software getting data from the internet. And my GPS works absolutely fine anyway in fact no problems at all there.
Now there is an engineer mode app I used that had some gps settings and I fiddled around with those settings but no change. I have reset the phone as well and but that hasn't done any good either. Any ideas ?
EDIT: I forgot to say I'm on android 4.4.2. This version has some settings removed that used to exist on earlier versions , settings related to 'gps satelite' , 'epo', and a-gps (turn on/off).

GPS Not Working

Hi,
I think I have a problem with GPS on my Oneplus One, it's so hard to lock to my location.
I use Google Maps for navigation (High Accuracy GPS), and it's always showing wrong location, sometimes even far off from my location. And if I look into the status bar, it's always showing "Searching for GPS". I thought it's a problem with Maps so I downloaded Here and Waze, but still the same story, Here and Waze always show wrong location, and Waze also says my GPS is off.
But it's also worth to mention that if I am home, all apps above showing right location. And also I just downloaded GPS Status and test it in my home, it stuck on "Looking for GPS location" message when I'm indoor, but it works when I'm outdoor. Obviously I haven't been outside since I downloaded GPS Status so I'll updated this thread later.

You need to be outside for GPS to work, there's no point testing inside because it'll never work.

Thanks for the info
But it supposed to work inside a moving car right? I tested and compared my OPO with my old Galaxy Tab 2 10" yesterday when I'm going outside. I ran GPS Status & Toolbox on both devices and it's seems like my Galaxy Tab locks position faster and more stable, although showed less total satellites than OPO.

Yes OPO gps detection is not so faster
If u have disabled Google play location services and maps app activate them in privacy guard
Go to settings >location > set DEVICE ONLY mode
Keep your Internet on
Place your mobile on flat surface then click on location button
Wait for 1-2min
It will detect
