Rooting Samsung Galaxy Tab S 8.4 SM 707a LTE. AT&T - General Questions and Answers

Pardon, if this not the right forum but can someone supply me with step by step instructions for rooting a Samsung Galaxy Tab S 8.4 Sm 707a LTE AT&T. I would like to use the newest Android version possible. As well as improve battery life.

Please read before posting official ICS releases regarding the Galaxy SII

Please take at a moment to read through this before making an announcement about an ICS release. We are seeing a lot of redundant posts and questions being asked.
Our phone, the Samsung Galaxy SII Skyrocket(SGH-I727) is scheduled to receive the official release. There has been much confusion and for lack of a better term, ignorance, of what is being released and when by the user. We all want to contribute something to the forum and that is great. That kind of eagerness is usually welcomed in a developmental forum such as this.
Samsung can not make one release and it be compatible with all Galaxy SII phones. There are different kernels, processors, chipsets, and other factors that come into play. When a release this big comes out. There is usually a lot of testing that goes into it. We have to wait for Google, Samsung, and AT&T to put their stamp of approval on it.
There have been several news articles that have given an ETA for this release. Thats an ESTIMATED time of arrival. It is not wrote in stone. There maybe and will be unforeseen setbacks in projects this massive. We, as a skyrocket community, are in line for the update. But where is our place in line? With some and checking some of the articles, which may not always be entirely accurate, we are still behind some of the Samsung EU variants to receive this update. So we still have a ways to go.
So please,be patient. Help our devs, who build some of the best roms. You can do your part by letting them know if any problems arise within the rom. We have received leaked builds of ICS thanks to DesignGears. Samsung has not forgotten about the skyrocket. Once we do get an official release, it will be a matter of hours before the custom releases begin.
Below I am listing some of the variants of Galaxy SII community.
Galaxy S II GT-I9100G
Galaxy R (GT-I9103)
Galaxy W (Galaxy S II Mini)
Galaxy S II LTE and Galaxy S II HD LTE
Galaxy S II GT-I9100P
Sprint's Galaxy S II Epic 4G Touch (SPH-D710)
T-Mobile's Galaxy S II (SGH-T989)
AT&T's Galaxy S II (SGH-I777)
AT&T's Galaxy S II: Skyrocket (SGH-I727)
AT&T's Samsung Captivate Glide (SGH-I927)
U.S. Cellular's Samsung Galaxy S II (SCH-R760)
Japanese model (NTT DoCoMo)
SK Telecom's Galaxy S II (SHW-M250S)
KT's Galaxy S II (SHW-M250K)
Rogers' Galaxy S II LTE (SGH-i727R)
Bell's Galaxy S II (GT-I9100M)
Telus' 4G Galaxy S II X (SGH-T989D)
GT-I9100T
So you can see that there are a lot phones that are in the Galaxy SII family. Next time when you read the article about the release, please check the actual nomenclature of the phone, and scan the tags down at the bottom. See if SGH-I727 or something similar along those lines is mentioned.
If you would something mentioned, added, or deleted. Let me know. I pulled the list of variants from a wiki page. It may or may not be accurate.
This is a list of North American variants, of phones and tablets that have started to receive or will be receive in the coming future. The top list under Available have started the official update. The list coming soon is self explanatory.

Good luck with this. Its a good idea, but the reason all the Noobs keep multiple posting about the different ICS releases is because they failed to read or use the search function in the first place. The same way they will fail to read this post before posting about ICS, or BLN, or Kernel Source, or "which ROM is the best", or etc...etc...etc...
Can you edit your post and make the title in all bold and then ask for it to stickied?
Maybe even flashing red text... or some kinda siren when you type "ICS" or "OTA" while making a new thread...
I'm hoping that a bulk of the noobs will read and stop the posts.
Omg! Skyrocket ICS out today!1!11!!!
My best friend's cousin sister's butcher who used to go to school with my boss' cousin's minister who buys pork products from the butcher was talking to the bus driver who brings my kid's to school when they saw his teacher who is dating a guy who's father works with a guy at the mechanic who knows a guy who works with Samsung.
And anyway! It's totally awesome! ICS 6.2.1 RAWKS! Dude, it's got a telepathic UI that knows what you want to do just by reading your mind! That, and an advanced "Bull**** Technomometer Alpha GUI" which uses biometric skin temperature measurements to determine you're full of crap!
Dude, and the live wallpapers are awesome! They feature CCTV feeds from the Kremlin and Area 51! Touch the screen and the people actually feel it! WHOAAA!

This is a great idea, but I don't think it will stop people from making the 500 ZOMG OTA UPDATE ICS BWAAAAA posts like dumb asses. Reason being.......a lot of people 20 and under are lazy, not really their fault, because of how easy our society makes things for them with the internet. Unfortunately they don't know to look. You also have the people who ask questions, get burned, then get upset with the "You don't have to be an ass wah wah wah instead of stopping and saying to themselves......yeah I am a dumb ass because the exact same post is 4 posts down and I should have seen that but because I want everything YESTERDAY I didn't see it. Lastly, the people who grasp only basic elementary English.
But good luck, I hope I'm proven wrong
Well I didn't expect this to be a rant thread.

Hahah yea seriously people. Drop the pessimism and just get this post stickied. There's no need to share your thoughts on whether or not it will work. Just let it be an informative OP that hopefully some new users will see. Thanks for posting by the way!
I would like to list which variants have the official update already. And which ones that will probably not receive it all. So any help with this is much appreciated.

I believe the phone that you highlighted in red is the SGH-i727R, which is a rogers phone. But that is according to Samsung Canada. Or the international version I9210.

Not necessarily disagreeing with the gist of your post, but bear in mind some of the developers here and elsewhere are 20 something and under.

[Q] Samsung Galaxy Alpha on Wind Mobile?

Hi, I'm really considering to buy a Samsung Galaxy Alpha but before I do I want to make sure that it would work on my current service provider. I'm aware that there are different models of this phone, so my question is: Which models of the Samsung Galaxy Alpha would work on Wind Mobile? Please give accurate information because I'm actually going to be purchasing this phone based on the feed back I get on this post. Thanks a lot!

Here’s a list of all the Galaxy devices that should receive the Nougat update

Now that Samsung’s finally started distributing the long-awaited Nougat update for the Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 edge, many owners of the firm’s other handsets have started to question whether their unit will be graced with the latest flavor of Android. To clear up the confusion, we’ve decided to compile a list of all the Galaxy-branded devices that will be bumped up to Android 7.0.
Check it out below:
Galaxy A3 (2016 and 2017)
Galaxy A5 (2016 and 2017)
Galaxy A7 (2016 and 2017)
Galaxy A8
Galaxy A9/A9 Pro
Galaxy S6
Galaxy S6 Active
Galaxy S6 edge
Galaxy S6 edge+
Galaxy S7
Galaxy S7 edge
Galaxy S7 Active
Galaxy Note 5
Galaxy Tab S2
We also expect the Galaxy J5 (2016) and Galaxy J7 (2016) to receive the Nougat treatment as its predecessors made the jump from Lollipop to Marshmallow in a relatively timely manner, though that’s not confirmed at present. The Galaxy Tab A tablets should be on the list as well, according to our sources. Unfortunately, it’s unknown whether Samsung will provide the upgrade for cheaper devices, like the Galaxy J3, as there may not be enough demand. Only time will tell.
With regards to carrier-branded smartphones, all of the major operators in the United States should roll out the firmware for handsets in the Galaxy A, Galaxy S and Galaxy Note series. However, an exact time frame remains unknown. Some of them might start pushing it out around the same time it starts arriving on international units, while some might take a few extra week — and we can only wait and see what happens.

[Completed] Teach me please

New to xda and adroid alike. I have several devices and not just android so i have a proposition. List of devives at end. If someone can walk me through the complete process of rooting and installing custom roms and everything else step by step from beginning to end on one of my devices then i would offer one of the others up for trial purposes as long as whoever tries their very best not to brick it as warranty will be out the window of course. Almost all are still under warranty and most are rather expensive.
The at&t s7 edge is what i would like to root but may be better if i learn on something more practical and less expensive. I am pretty open EXCEPT the to s7's are off limits u til i am positive whoever may take me up on this knows exactly what they are doing. I really dont need any bricks as my house is wood and vinyl.
Here is what i have from cheapest up at least in what i see in them.
Digiland dl701q 4.4.2
Rca voyager pro model# rct6773w42b. 5.0.1
Samsung tab 4 7" sm-t230nu 4.4.2
Samsung tab E 7" sm-t377a 6.0.1
Samsung tab E 10" sm-t560nu 6.0.1
Samsung tab 2 10" sgh-t779 4.1.2
Samsung tab s2 (x2) sm-t810 6.0.1 & sm-t810 6.0.1
Lg v10 at&t lg-h900 6.0
Lg v10 verizon. lg-vs990 6.0
Samsung s6 sm-g920a 5.1.1
Samsung s7 edge sm-g935a 6.0.1
Samsung s7 active sm-g891a 6.0.1
An old htc1 somewhere
*iphone 6s
*ipad mini 2
As you can see i have a couple and always picking up others if i can get a deal on them. The s7's i think i want to wait on unless i can find some spares reasonably priced but just about any of the rest should be fair game depending. Like i said teach me, and experiment all at the same time. If there are more than one person/people that want to take me up on this then maybe we can work something out or ill just have to choose which to do. Endgame is to be able to without hesitation be confident enough to pick up any android and do whatever is possible with it, i mean isnt that what androids are all about?
