I am absolutely stumped!
I restored my apps from Titanium, inc. AppBrain. This also restored my AppBrain data which was a bummer as Appbrain recognised it as the same phone, regardless of having upgraded to 2.1 forcing a clean install.
I then installed Fast Web Installer and it worked great, but I noticed it was still recognising as having had installed apps that I hadn't installed, and it thought my phone was 1.6 so kept getting annoying message on website. I uninstalled and reinstalled App Brain and it worked fine, but suddenly Fast Web Installer doesnt work. I get:
"There was an error sending the app to the phone. Please make sure you enabled it with the 'fast web installer' app and then please try again."
I have done everything I can think of, uninstalled both then reinstalled them, launched the FWI app multiple times, synced appbrain multiple times, all the above in multiple sequences, until I decided to delete my account, uninstall app brain, uninstall FWI, recreate my account, reinstall app brain, sync appbrain, install FWI, launched FWI, Synced App Brain, then crossed my fingers, but still got the same problem.
It's painfully annoying as its such an awesome thing
Has anyone else come across this error, and does anyone know a sollution? Im at pulling my hair out here
I have the same problem , its was working before but cant work these days
well, in the process of trying to fix this I accidently got my phone into a power cycle cycle, so gave it a clean install. It works now :S
but the facebook widget is now giving me grief. *When will it all enndddd??*
It's a bug from fast web installer. I emailed appbrain and now it's work. Should work for you too I guess.

Stop working for me
Anyone could help here? In my last post Fast Web Installer is work for me.. But it now stop from working and no work around yet.
Try to reinstall appbrain app market and fast web installer but no solution yet. I event reflashed my phone (without wiping my data).
I already emaild appbrain but no response yet.
Please advice...
Problem still persists on my phone as well. Not sure what it could be.

having the same problem....I click on install, accept permissions and its say sent app to phone...but doesn't download on my phone.
just got a reply from Appbrain regarding fast web installer not working:
"Google has updated the Android market client, which disables the Fast
Web Installer unfortunately.
Please use the sync mechanism to transfer your downloads from the web
to your phone.
Best regards"

Ah yes, I see that the market is now version 2.12 instead of the 2.09 in which firmware 2.1 gave us. That is quite unfortunate as that was a really useful tool

Fast web installer not working resolved
Please read Download Android Apps from Other Markets in 8 Steps whcih explains a workaround to get it working again. I tried it out and it really worked for me!
Is there any way to fix app association on custom jb roms? Things like opening a file sometimes opening in browser instead of editor or YouTube links opening in browser instead of app.

wouldnt the "clear defaults" function in app manager help?
You go to app manager, choose the default programs that open the chosen links etc and press "clear defaults"
After months I finally found a work around for the HTC app association that is a result of the Apple lawsuit.
As you know HTClinkify caused YouTube Links on FB and the web to open in a browser instead of the app.
I downloaded Android Browser from Play Store. https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=me.android.browser
Then went settings>app associations>internet changed it to new Android browser. Also make sure YouTube links are set to YouTube app.
Now when on FB and click a YouTube link it goes to the app. Same thing when I search a YouTube video on Google.
I'm on stock JB 4.1.1 rooted. Let me know if this works for anyone else.
Default browser keeps opening my links even though I've chrome as default.
Everything was fine until one of the recent updates.
Cleared chrome data etc and remade it default in settings.
Default browser still takes over. Even opening links I click in chrome.
No way to freeze that browser without root.
Any idead ?

The apk you'll be looking for to uninstall is com.vivo.browser.

Use the apk extractor(back-up) mentioned in the youtube video before you start removing apps.

So yesterday my Pixel 2 XL got majorly corrupted so I had to re-install everything from scratch including a full wipe and today I re-installed everything but I'm having issues with opening links now...
Before if I opened a link it would ask me if I wanted to open it in Firefox or Chrome, 90% of the time I would open them with Chrome however links from one specific app I open in Firefox mainly because of adblock on Firefox.
How do I get my phone back to either asking what browser I would like to open the links in or better yet make it so all links from a specific app open in Firefox and every other link/app opens in Chrome?
I've checked WebView, Chrome, Firefox and the app I use and there are no "Default Open with" setup on any of them...

If I'm using Chrome and looking something up I might click on a Reddit or news link, it asks you if you want to open it via Chrome or if I have the app installed the that app.
Sometimes it's faster just to view the web page instead so I don't usually choose use app all the time.
Something changed where no longer can select use Chrome just this instance, the pop up comes back and you can only choose the app.
I'm not sure when this changed, if it was the Android 11 upgrade or one of the patches since.
For now I just turned off opening links in apps.
Any ideas if it's a bug or one of the many things Samsung changed in 11?
No problem here, go to Chrome and clear defaults. You might have accidentally tapped always.
