hi forum,
i open a new discussion with the hope that someone (more expert than me) with a bit of patience can try to understand the situation of my 5 II (model XQAS52).
Since i've purchased this device, a couple of months ago, i' ve noticed different bugs in the daily use... Various bugs reported in another thread here on XDA. A bit annoying, if you ask me.
The firmware version is 58.1.A.3.87 and i think that OTA updates are... off.
It is possible? There is a way to understand if i'm right or not?
In case, and i don't know why, my device will not receive any kind of updates, what can i do to solve this?
I've tried to repair it with Xperia Companion but every time my device shutdown during the process, and of course it doesn't complete the repair.
My build # is 58.1.A.5.330. I would probably ask Sony why I wasn't getting updates? I might go to Sony Xperia Support and try manually downloading updates.

manual updates in the app are useless: the app indicates me that the system is already updated. Same for Xperia Companion on pc.
I've spent 700euro for this device (new, of course) only to find it in this situation... it's shameful.

All variants of XQ-AS52 are currently having 58.1.A.5.395 build: https://xpericheck.com/XQ-AS52
If you have bought it via official channel you can definitely raise this concern with Sony support.
You can alternately check Software Info from Service Menu to check the exact region of your device. I can't think of why but I vaguely remember that if you device is cross flashed or not in the region it initially supported then you sometime don't get OTA updates(I may be wrong too). But first step is to check with Sony support as Patrickt mentioned.

in fact, if i launch Xperifirm, my model on the left pane has that firmware .395 (Customized EEA).
I've bought the phone via Amazon.it (i'm from Italy), but the store is situated in London.

when i open that link on LTA version, some info appears to me, and at the bottom, russian language is present. Is this normal? I think that my model was intended for russian market, but that store in London imported from Russia and flash the Customized EEA firmware. Is this possible?
Anyway, me too think OTA services are deactivated, at this point.

Hmm, looks like it. Create a support topic on Sony mobile forum or chat with support(if available in your region) to check if this device is official under warranty and then follow-up with them to solve the issue.
There can be alternate solution if your device is not officially supported by Sony(use Xperifirm or something like that) but first check if it's under warranty.

the truth is... i only want my device works properly. I really like Xperia devices (SP, M5, X, XZ, XZ2 and now this), and i'm really disappointed this time, sorry.
I'm seriously thinking to flashing it with and old firmware with Android 10. Maybe i'm wrong? I don't care, later with future updates, i can always flash it again with updated firmware (hoping for the best). My personal problem is that i'm totally noob in this kind of things, i don't wank risk to ruins my phone.
So, if someone with a bit of patience can help me to flashing and old firmware (i have it already: Android 10 Customized EEA) would do make me a favor. It doesn't matter if my OTA Services would continue to stay deactivated. But, at least, my Xperia should be works great with A10.
i contacted SONY with email, but is not very helpful to me. They say, of course, to send the phone to the original Store in London, or to send it in Verona city (here in Italy) for assistance and repair.
The problem is i have no other spare phone to use, at the moment when my XPeria 5 II will be in Assistency.
Xperifirm show me the different firmwares available for my model (XQ-AS52).
I suppose to download the first, perhaps (?) and flash it.
Every updated firmware there in the list have italian language?
I would try first factory reset. power button and volume down and factory reset. If that doesnt work you can try and flash the newest europe firmware for your 52 model

hi Cptmfruitloops and thanks for your reply.
I will try your suggestion: if i push power button+volume down will appear to me some sort of... recovery with various options, i understand right?
yeah power down and then hold power button and volume down until it vibrates then let go and you will be greeted with recovery and from there you can factory reset your phone. Before you do though log out of google on the phone and remove the device from your account (not required but recomended)

Done, but for now with the smartphone connected on Wifi, no system-updates yet.
No Google account logged in, nothing of nothing, no sim-card inside (i use my number and my account on another phone at the moment), but i don't think all of that is a problem.
I will wait a few hours, 1/2 days perhaps, if the updates don't arrive, i will try again a software-repair with Xperia Companion.
Thanks Cptnfruitloops. If you have other suggetions, i'm all ears.

Perhaps you have the sony update servers somehow blocked on your network. You can contact sony or perhaps try flashing newest firmware

yeah, i've used Newflasher (by munjeni) and everything's ok. The problem is that OTA are always blocked. I think this is the situation, basing myself on other users experiences in the Newflasher official thread.
Every new firmware i should flash it manually with Newflasher. This is... a little annoying of course, so i think to flash my phone again in the future, maybe 1 year, when Android 12 is available and perhaps with future updates firmwares, more stable.
Hi I'm in the same situation, I buy my xperia 5 ii on Amazon.de from Italy and it doesn't update. I will make the return.

hi xire68, i'm sorry to read this. From what i've read on the past months, many users here and on the web, are encounters our problem, the same problem: no OTA updates on their devices.
I don't know yet why this happens: the only way to update our smartphones is to use Newflasher (by munjeni), download the firmware you want and flash it. The method is very very simple, but i understand this is not a good way to updates our phones. We've paid for this Xperia, in my case 699euro and i expect updates like should be. And not to solve the problem with alternative methods.
Anyway, i understand your move.

This thread is for the MediaPad M3 Lite 10 LTE - Tablet from Huawei.
In my case, I´m looking for a C-ROM and C-Recov (e.a. RR, Mokee, TWRP) for the
Huawei MediaPad M3 Lite 10 LTE (BAH-L09) with Android 7.0 and EMUI 5.1
Since it´s quite new on the market it´s atm hard to find anything bout a C-ROM or even a C-recovery.

Detailed device Informations:
Nobody knows any thread about this tablet??
Still searching for a root-solution.
So it's possible to read out the firmware with Infinity Box CM2 but haven't found a working "Non-dongle"-version (Loader).
Some days, there will be a root solution.
It just takes time and will be posted in here.

I much appreciate the offer but what could u do if u haven´t the device or do u own it ?
Since my CM2-Infinity-box doesn´t work (usually I work with Miracle Box but it´s not compatible ...well the Tablet has to be rooted to read the firmware..), and literally tried all rooting-apps and progs, this device is really stubborn!
I own this device, thats what i told you

Actually, just the stock-recovery is needed to finally start to compile it. Have u been able to extract the recovery or maybe the whole ROM ? ?

Well, to bad but I guessed so, since this device is atm not rootable. :/
I tried every single Flash-Box like MB, Infinity, Aladdin, Falcon etc pp.. any Rooting-App (APK & PC- based), almost a dozen flash-tools like ADT, AOS-flasher, Ultimate Backup-tool etc...and several command prompts via ADB&Fastboot.
Really Nothing helped to get a nandroid- or even a dumb ROM. From which I could extract the stock recovery.
Nevermind, I will try alil more with Holo- & Heliumbackup, which surely wont work but who knows, rite ??
I'm patient and as soon as I've found a solution I'll share it here immediately.
As any other user is welcome to do so, too.
I´ve managed to extract the stock-recovery via an OTA-update which came from Firmware Finder from Team MT.
U ´ll find the recovery on G-Drive. The "oldRECOVERY.img" is the extracted stock-recovery from the original BAH-L09C100B018 firmware!
So, since I´ve updated the Tablet, the only "RECOVERY.img"-named file is from the newest firmware which is L09C100B021!
If u wanna update to ...021, via the Firmware Finder-App, u need
The App

Be aside your tablet

Yup, unlocked the BL from day 1. It´s the same procedure for all HUAWEI devices.
Just go here, login or register, confirm the unlocking agreement and put all device infos into the blank fields.
U´ll immediatley get an unlock code, which u have to enter via fastboot command prompts (recommended):
fastboot devices
fastboot oem unlock-go 1234567890123456 <- (this number is an example, u´ll have to put ur code there instead)
fastboot reboot
From now on an unlocked bootloader message will appear every time u start ur device. Just press power shortly to boot then. (It´s also written in the text aswell)
P.S.
Before u try to unlock: Don´t forget to enable USB-debugging in the Engineertool (tap 7 times on "build" in the settings-menue) and "allow OEM unlocking".

Ok cheers, I looked on the emui site and was nothing under their tablet menu only phones on the unlock bootloader page, on Nexus you just enable usb-debugging and click the OEM unlock in settings and fastboot flashing unlock in terminal. Sony uses a custom tool and HTC via their website I had a few phones in the past and built roms etc this my first Huawei device apart from my Nexus 6p Huawei help build with Google. I take it this device no official forum atm only the Kirin version.
Ya, HUAWEI has a quite faire unlock policy.
Important: There's an unlock bug sometimes. Be sure to have the Original firmware on ur device. (No updated ROM)
Have fun.

It's on latest official that came with device, I take it there is no twrp or anything out for this device ATM?
Just check a view posts above. I've described how to get the newest FW.
So if the factory ROM-version is installed, unlock the BL and after then update ur ROM. Jfi.
BTW_
Atm there's no custom recovery available for the M3 Lite Versions. U have to compile it by urself or make a request on Hovatek.com

I'm not bothered about updating the firmware ATM more so custom recovery but will look into it after my holiday.
I have requested official forum for this device and looks to be accepted so hopefully get some development going for this device soon...
There seems to be no way to retrieve the unlock code for Wifi-only tablets from the official Huawei site, as it demands the IMEI which is obviously missing.
I have contacted Huawei support with the product ID and serial number of my M3 Lite 10. One day later I have received the unlock code. I think that having been polite has helped

Storage question
Hello,
First of all: sorry, if the question is 'noobish', but as a matter of fact I am noob as far as android is concerned
I just bought this tablet for my son (LTE version), and I was quite surprised to find out that I can't move the installed applications to SD card.
Are there any hints and tips on how to take advantage of the big SD card, so my son's game data would not have to be stored in the internal memory?
The only default option is to change the memory from internal to SD, after the tablet restarts. But I assume it uses then only the SD card, and I am looking for a solution I remember from Samsung phone, where I could choose certain apps to move from internal memory to SD.
Another question, just by the way, is following: when I install an apk file from the SD card, during the installation process every few seconds I get a pop-up saying the application is not responding (although the installation is in progress). Any way to disable those annoying pop-ups?
I'd appreciate any feedback
I've seen many threads about this issue originating because the apparent H900 model for some people turned out to be a vs990 somehow converted to look like this, and everyone had the exact same issues as me, namely
1. LG VPN has stopped working error
2. Fingerprint/security tab causes settings to crash
3. Attempting to uninstall apps causes instant soft reboot
Some folks mentioned fixing their phones by finding the actual model of their phone and flashing the correct firmware. But AFAIK, no flashing software allows flashing of a different model. And none of them was clear about the actual steps they did to fix it.
Since I'm on Marshmallow, I cannot root, and I cannot rollback to the firmware I had in my phone.
Can anyone please share how they fixed their phone or someone expert in the matter?
Warranty/Motherboard replacement are out of question for me.
Any help is appreciated.
I've got the same problem, and LGUP doesn't let me flash the firmware :/
The same problem exactly
i have the same 3 stupid problems and i really very upset, i tried all solutions on internet, nothing useful
the only working software to flash is LGUP and it doesnt let me flash lower versions, its blocked from everywhere
even you cant go to security to enable install from unknown sources to install Kingroot and root the phone to find away
and no one has real answers, we need answers please help us, alot of people are lying and saying your real model is vs990 and h901bk but LGUP is refusing everything in th world, it just insist to keep you very upset
ahhh i faced same issue unfortunately , if any one expert to change the name of vs990
Same problem here. Things were kinda fine on android 5. I was dissatisfied with the battery life and chose to "upgrade"(not) it. big mistake.
- fingerprint scanner crash, com.android.settings stopped, LG VPN stopped working and restart on uninstalling some apps.
I really hope there will be some kind of miracle and we can get a fix to this. The phone itself is very pleasing, just not with all these bull**** problems.. *venting nonstop*
i have same problem here did anyone try to flash vs990 kdz ?
Thanks

AT&T Problem
AT&T only sending updates to at&T active customers who living in US and has mobile connected to at&t towers. Even TMobile user cannot get updates for at&T mobiles.
So kindly don't buy at&t and Verizon carrier mobile even unlock. Anyway there is Salutation for uninstall apps and install APK.
Use ADB for uninstalling any 3rd party application and also use ADB for installing APK and open unknown Sources.
Google it and u will find easy Salutation regarding these 2 problem.
LG using Same Motherboard VS990 for Verizon & AT&T but there is very small number on board behind Main Camera cut area. So only u can identify from here if u have knowledge about mobiles Motherboards.

Hello,
I have the same problem, At&t software, verizon board but F600L body. I've try to flash vs990 dz with LGup on it after edit the dz with hex editor. The flashing was until 80% and then showing an error window. The phone is bricked since then, not even Qfil is able to flash it.
I'm interested on the very small number behind main camera, I see there're some numbers there. Would you please share a bit more about it? Thank you

I think the only way to solve this is to find any user with H90021z or H90022b firmware who is generous enough to share dump file or phone's partitions to us.

Maybe it will change something if we get the H90022b .. i'm little skeptical though. Because our issues with H900 MM started because we Flashed a H900 ROM over a H901 or VS990 board. the way i see it, even if AT&T releases Nougat, we still gonna have issues, even worse.. we kinda screwed..
i've been thinking, maybe the H90021w was somehow corrupted or missing some files...
Also, i've been reading some threads, people talking about reflashing the correct ROM, either a H901 or VS990 ... but i'm not ready to dry that considering none has done that succesfully..
For me, the solution would be find a solution to go back to Lolipop... at least it no issues. outdated maybe, but everuthing was working fine on my phone.

1 - unlock device
2 - flash rom (clean all and lock)
3 - erro message appears "This MIUI version can't be installed on this device"
I am stuck
I can repeat the process, to unlock device I have to go to MIUI settings and to do that I need a rom.
Miui pc suite doesn't detect the device no matter what.

flash rom (clean all and lock) is wrong. You should not choose this option as it will brick your phone.
Try to use MiFlash to flash a fastboot rom and see if it helps.

I know, but I miss that point and I recognized the mistake late after.
I try what you said with different roms (EEA, GLOBAL and Chinese) I doesn't start the flash process due to an error. The error is because the phone is locked and is not possible to rewrite.
Try this to see if it works for you

Or try that like in the video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5o2WJZ5nTnY

Flashing via MiFlash tool I need to unlock bootloader
To unlock bootloader I need to add the miui account in Mi Unlock status under developer options...to do that I need a rom. Rom doesn't work because "can't be installed on this device"

If it still doesn't work, you need to go to the Xiaomi service center.
Since its locked with no ROM, i dont think i can help you . Last thing i can suggest is using test point method, which means you need to pry open your backglass cover.

Xiaomi service center message "I would like to inform you that we won't be able to assist in this regard as your device has been bricked. However, I would request you kindly get in touch with the respective point of purchase." I bought this device during a China trip, I live in Germany.
I am able to use MiFlash PRO and flash the same ROM trough the option Recovery Flash, however, I don't solve the issue.
I am not able to use other rom: "current ROMs network carrier type is different from that in the recovery package."
Any suggestions?

The service center must be able to help. Did you tell them honestly that you flashed the international Rom and bricked it? If you were in China, there should be shops in Shenzhen who can help you.

In Hongkong, the people can take the phone to the service centers in China to repair it. Xiaomi sells international version only in HK. I think there is no need to tell whether it's a China version or EU version as it's bricked and the phone looks the same. Maybe there are some shops in Germany who can help.

I am sure people more flexible than others but if by email they said no after being honest. There is no point for me to go door by door. In last scenario I may have a business trip to CN after CNY, if yes, I take the phone with me and I am sure that in there I solve it (from past experience).

Hello,
Lurker here. I want to downgrade my Huawei P40 Pro to a lower firmware to install GMS. For what is worth, I did some digging around to find out what would be the most safe way to do it and this is what I came up (did).
Firmware: I saw a lot of people have problems with their phones rebooting because of a wrong firmware version. I wanted to download my own off of MT-Team's database, but I noticed, that I cant seem to find my exact firmware. To be more precise, I'm not just looking at my area code, but also at the exact same build number: C432E8R5P2. I can't seem to find this exact build on MT-Team's database, so went somewhere else. I already bought a firmware from this site (I cant post links so I will just add a photo).

"lightbox_download": "Download",
"lightbox_share": "Share",
"lightbox_zoom": "Zoom",
"lightbox_new_window": "New window",
"lightbox_toggle_sidebar": "Toggle sidebar"
}
The firmware build number is exactly the same as mine (C432E8R5P2), not the mention that all the other info of the model and everything seems to check out. With what I bought, I would be downgrading to EMUI version 10.1.0.114.
Questions:
1. When choosing the right firmware, is its important that the whole build number matches? If so, have I chosen the right firmware? Do any of you know the vendor, is the software safe?
2. If the downgrade is successful, is its still possible to install GMS with an EMUI version 10.1.0.114?
Downgrade process: I am planning to wipe my phone clean before the whole process, buy an OTG cable and downgrade from an USB drive, because the whole process through HiSuite seems to have more risk, depending on the programs version, or am I wrong?
Questions:
3. Is it safer to downgrade from an USB drive via OTG cable, in comparison to HiSuite?
4. If the downgrade is not successful with the OTG cable/USB drive, what version of HiSuite should I use to downgrade the phone?
5. If my phone soft-bricks, are the any methods to fix it?
Thanks in advance

I successfully downgraded my Huawei P40 Pro.
Some details:
I could not go through with my initial plan, as the phone did not recognize the firmware, so I had to find another way.
I found my firmware (C432E8R5P2) via MT Firmware finder (PC), to version 10.1.0.131 with my exact firmware version (C432E8R5P2). Its number 409481 in the firmware finder, if this helps anyone. IMEI number also checked it out available for install.
I used HiSuite proxy and HiSuite 10.0.0.510 (because the newer versions did not let me connect to the proxy).
Wiped the whole phone clean + cache wipe.
Downgraded successfully and at the very end of it (once the downgrade is complete, it says it will now restart), restarted the phone to enter recovery (before it could restart into OS) - wipe the phone clean again + cache wipe.
Once booted, I did not get ANY errors, it was like a new phone. Used Googlefier to install GMS, it works.
Had NO problems with the phone, it let me update back to 10.1.0.176 (C432E8R5P2) and GMS is still working perfectly. No issues with the update, no use of HiSuite to update or anything.
10/10.
Hope this helps someone who has the exact firmware version as mine. I did not risk anything but the EXACT number as a whole. Worked the whole day to get this done.
Cheers

That older method doesnt work anymore. See my thread ( in my signature, from computer) for the new methods.
I have a several months old s10e, which turned to have no updates (Android 10, UI 2.0, security patch level March 2020(!) although was bought around April 2021). Not even an available "check for updates" button, anywhere. This is some real downer here, with Samsung semi-Android OS. I'm dealing with this issue for several weeks now, when I expected to simply update my device via OTAs.
Also verified with local Samsung service, according to IMEI, should be Android 11.
Anyway, as I found here,
S10e not receiving updates
Hi all, I'm a long time Samsung user (started with an S2, then S4, S7 and now S10e) though this is my first post here. I'm in the UK. A couple of years ago, I bought a Samsung Galaxy S10e from an ebay seller. It all worked fine and the whole family ended up getting S10e's to replace their aging...

I've downloaded the correct firmware from Sammobile:

and followed the instructions: https://www.sammobile.com/wp-content/themes/sammobile-6/assets/static/instructions-fw-5file.pdf
During flash on Odin3 v3.14, process get stuck at "recovery.img" while on device's screen, "Secure fail check : (Bootloader)" is writen on red;
with no process bar shown on phone's screen. Next four lines happen when I exit "Download Mode". Tried different USB port, different cable, one prior firmware version (July 2021 release instead of Sep 2021) etc. Many times, same results.
BTW, "Download Mode" model (product name) and "about phone" model number are different: SM-G970N on "Download Mode" upper left corner of the screen (see image above), SM-G970F on "about phone" model number. Could it be that I've downloaded the wrong firmware (one shown under "about" menu)?
Checked "Phone info plus" app, I see that phone model (G970F, Israel) is different than CSC product code (G970N, Vietnam).
I've sent the device to a lab (warranty service). It was returned after over a week, with the exact same status + factory reset. I'm furious.
Do I have a 970F or 970N device?! Which exact firmware should I download\upload?
Any ideas?
Thanks in advance

Can you please tell me which one should I look for on SamMobile.com, i.e. which country should I look for?
And - would it be a problem, trying to install N firmware while the device is (for some reason) defined as an F under device model (about menu)? Why is there such a discrepancy?

1. Doesn't matter which country you choose

Thanks again, I'll try and hope for the best..
About 2, if the device was rooted to look like an F model, will it change anything else (for an example - carrier related issues due to not looking like F anymore)? Is there a potential risk with "changing it back to N"? Why was it reasonable to modify it to look like an F at the first place?

You always take a risk, every time that you purchase a used device. You can't inherently damage the device by re-flashing the official stock firmware. But a used device is never guaranteed to work the way you want it to, and it carries no warranty. So you'll just have to do the flash and then try it and see what happens
I have no idea why it was reasonable. You would have to ask the person that you got it from

Actually, it is not a used device, at least for the best of my knowledge.. I've bought it as a new device, although not from the local official importer. You say that this rooting and model modification means that the device is used?

Samsung (nor any other manufacturer) does not sell rooted and modified devices. So yes, of course it is used. The S10e is more than 2 years old anyways, so it would be almost impossible to find one that is still brand new sealed in the box

Hi
Thanks for the quick reply
I have flashed(with odin 3.14) the latest firmware according to the baseband version(g970n) and now the same problem persists with a warning message in Korean every time I turn on the phone and also skmobile animation. At least now the phone is capable of updating and is up to date with android 11 and one UI 3.5, and also, the about phone shows the correct model. Any idea how to fix the initial problem? (mic stops working, camera fail on Samsung stock app)
It’s funny how the warranty just expired a few days ago

Sounds like hardware defect
Thanks for your help
just change the date to 2018 or 2019 with november 1
It's been a while even since the last message. I have to inform anyone who wishes to update their firmware to Android 12. You may prefer living with your Pie firmware because the Camera started to add some foggy effect on the captured images for no reason on my device after one of the updates -very likely after an April update at the time. I know because I'm not the only one with this. There are many complaints on this on the Samsung website and no one seems to care.
As far as I can guess, it is related to some effect added to the capured images during or after shooting. It resembles the photoshop effect Convert to HDR, creating some bright areas around edges while the remaining remaining image is foggy. How stupid of Samsung.
May be they just want you to replace a 4 year old phone, asuming you'll again buy a Samsung, even with the imposed circumstances.
Been a Samsung user for years but I'm looking for some other brand for my next phone due to this kind of Factory-Forced replacing necessities. Either your phone gets laggy in a year or two, or your battery inevitably dies and you can not find a single replacement one, roughly on a par with the original. I've tried dozens of different brands including the official service replaced battery. Your phone no longer runs as long as the first day you bought it and you eventually replace your phone.
Still having this crap device in my posession, I wonder if I can revert back to Android 9 Rom from Android 12? Or any ideas on this camera issue? (It happens on any other camera)

1. No device will accept any custom firmware without being bootloader unlocked. You never specified which device you have, so I don't know if it can be bootloader unlocked or not
2. Even if it can be bootloader unlocked, I highly doubt that an Android 9 custom ROM will boot on it, since its underlying firmware would be either Android 12 or Android 11
