Hi Team,
I just upgraded from the Pixel 2XL (yes I know, wow old) and I forgot I was running a custom ROM (Carbon Rom) on it. But it didn't occur. When I tried to do a tether I got the popup that you need to dial *611 and pay more for the same data I'm already paying for.
As always, thank you for your time and answers.
If I need to drop a custom rom on this so be it but I didn't see too much for offering in the forum.

I lost my Sensation that was rooted and flashed with Revolution ROM (which I loved!) and replaced it with the One S (since it was free). I'm now looking to get my wifi hotspot working again without paying T-Mobile an extra $20 or so a month and I'm overwhelmed with all the apps and the new ROMS for the One S. I'm pretty happy with the stock ROM and i'm just looking for the best option to get free wifi hotspot. I don't mind paying for a good app that will let me do it as long as it works well and does not require other computers to download a special program to access the web. Just looking for native-like operation.
If a good app is not available, I'll have to root and find a good ROM. Would appreciate any suggestions on ROMS that have no issues with wifi.
BTW: I did do the 4.0.4 T-Mobile USA update. Didn't realize that was a bad move.
I have SGS3 - SCH-I535.
I have already made a mistake of flashinga Wrong ROM and Hard Bricking it. Sending it to Repair - JTAG and now, I got the Stock ROM 4.0.4 on my SGS3 after 10 Hours. Just because of a small File,
So basically, I do not want to make my life hell once again.
I want someone to suggest me some good ROM. But I have simple requirements.
1. Simple, Clean, no Bloatware, or Extra crap, from Verizon or Samsung.
2. FAST FAST FAST FAAAAAAAST
3. IN BUILT WIFI TETHERING APP, - I have Unl.Data Plan. So I want to use it, for tethering on my ipad.
4. Please suggest me a Link or a Thread or a Site.
P.S: My Phone is just like, out of hte box when it was first released with Verizon around 2 Years back. No Rooting, No updates or Nothing.
SINCE I ALREAD F'ed up once, I don't want to take the same risk once again. So, kindly need the guidance of the experts, who have been using LATEST GREATEST SUPER FAST ROMS.
I will be using my Verizon Unlimited Data Plan SIM card and my Straight Talk 1 Year T-Mobile SIM Card in this Phone.
With Straight Talk, I will get only 2G speeds. But, thats OK. I will move my Verizon Unl. SIM to my Jetpack, and I get 4G LTE Speeds via Wifi.
Si kindly help me guys. Thank You for Your interest.

We don't do suggestions as some of the immature members of the community will turn it to a debate. I will also add that not all people have the same experience with each ROM.
ok, i just tried the most roms out there for my 3 smartphones (live with walkman, Xperia S and SGS3 LTE I9305 ) and i found this
CM roms is the most clear an good enough to make u live happy and im using it on the live with walkman but; personally i liked the stock in the SGS3 and Xperia because of the camera app .. the stock rom have best camera app and make the camera work better even if u install any app it will have the same bad pics in the CM..
anyways ... thanks for @cyanogen team for there hard work
press THANKS if i helped

Ok, this is my first post on here in years. Forgive me if I am not in the right section or if this question has been answered countless times. Anyways, I have had an Galaxy s3 Boost for years now. When I first got the phone, I rooted and put a custom rom on the phone. I believe it was "Wicked X". Not sure the exact build model numbers for the phones or rom. Will insert later if needed.
Well with Wicked X, I was able to acheive unlimited Hotspot access with no cap. Normally on the plan I am on, the hotspot caps at 8 gigs. I was using 30+ with this rom build.
My question is, I am switching to the S5 now and would like to know a way to achieve the same on this phone as I did with the s3. Maybe this has already been answered and if so can someone please redirect me.
I have no problem achieving root access on this phone but I would like to know of a rom that gives me Unlimited hotspot cap like Wicked X did for me with the S3.
Thanks ahead.
you may want to look at the ROM you used and the apk that sounds like was baked into it. It might have just been using one of the many hotspot apps that dont tell the network that youre utilizing hotspot. Chainfire had one out there before he retired that will likely suit your needs. I use resurrection remix and it has hotspot baked in that doesnt tell my carrier that im using my data for that.
Thanks man. I'll check it out.

didja get it working?
Howdy all,
So I just received my shiny new, from Google a Pixel 128 but unfortunately the build is the newest NOF27C. I have at the moment a very nice Nexus 6P that is rooted with Pure Nexus. Now that device did have the WiFi hotspot working right out of the box, no root required...but I used an excellent Nexus Root Toolkit and was able to unlock and root with ease and with Pure Nexus and it's a great device, but just too big in my hand after several months of use. So I have the 5" Pixel now that fits me perfect. OK so now the only reason I want to root and get Pure on my Pixel is because of the Hotspot toggle. I use this a lot and am on the Verizon Unlimited Data plan and use about 20 to 30 gb per month. I will not drop down to the new Unlimited plan as it caps out at 10gb for the month and that's it. So my question is as follows. I'm really NOT an advanced tech guy and have used the excellent toolkit's that are available for my devices for years. In this case SkipSoft seems to be great. But after making my donation etc and looking at the device builds NOF27C is not listed. Would anyone know if I use unlock/root for any device with SkipSoft would that work on the latest build from Google for the Pixel? Or has anyone had any luck or ideas about unlocking and rooting the NOF27C build? I read somewhere today that that build is not unlock-able but also someone else says it is so I'm confused.
Big thanks in advance if there is an answer to my present conflict.
PS: This is a Google Phone not Verizon and I've tried the tricks to make the hotspot work but those are a pain and then they stopped working. Also I want to root my phone.!!!
PS: In doing a little online research I'm finding that NOF27C is for a Rogers device that is Canada...did I get screwed as I'm in Oregon?

it does not matter with the Google model, the bootloader can be unlocked with all firmware versions
Hello everyone, sorry if this is posted in the wrong area. I am looking to purchase a new android phone from either Verizon or T-mobile.
I was going to get the s8+ from t-mobiles christmas promo, but that didnt happen, so now I am looking to purchase a phone.
From what I can tell, it looks like every goddamn phone has the bootloader locked. Which is one reason I was glad I didn't get an s8+. I was looking at the google pixel 2 xl, as it is on sale right now through verizon. But there weren't very many custom roms that I could see.
The past phones I have had, I have rooted and installed usually a Resurrection remix rom, or a Lineage OS rom, also cyanogen, but that was a while ago.
So what is a good phone to get from either of those carriers that I will be able to root and install a good custom rom? If not Resurrection or lineage, what other custom roms are good?
Thanks
Thanks everyone for your awesome advice! I went with the oneplus 5t, and I'm going to go with t-mobile.
Your many words and over the top help will not be forgotten!
