Hi ! I'm looking for a s10e SM-G9700 (HK version), for Europe. From what i've heard it's the best non-Exynos version to have.
However, I can't find any still selling. What i found though are a lot of G970U1 (US version unlocked).
Will I have any trouble by using one of these (I mean, impossible to access some essential feature like my local Play Store, impossible to change language, or any other software issues). Can i correct a potentiel issue by flashing with Odin a new firmware/something else ?
I don't really care about rooting (even if this would be nice, but i'm not dreaming).
I've compared the bands available on both of these phones, and i find them very similar, so i guess i shouldn't have an issue on this side.
Thank you very much for your help !
PS: Alternatively, if the Exynos can run better or similar with root/custom rom (I'm mostly worried about battery consumption), that could be a solution
You can buy one from Taobao though, i also buy a 970U from there.

I ordered a 16GB Shield Tablet last week from Amazon but they accidentally sent me the 32GB LTE version. I see that most of the development here is for the WiFi version, so I'm out of luck, as sending it back would likely cost more than the price difference. Are there any differences between these 2 versions (except the modem and storage size)? I would like to start working with this tablet (I won't have a SIM in it at all, if that makes things any simpler), but I don't have two tablets to compare so I'm hoping that there's someone here who knows more. (My original plan was to port MultiROM to it, then use that to run Linux, because it has full OpenGL support)

If what you say is true, Amazon will correct their mistake at their cost, not yours. I'm also not sure about your situation, but it should cost $100 (the difference in the device pricing) to ship pretty much anywhere. If you were truly hard up, the USPS flat rate packages are only a few bucks for something the size of the Shield.
As far as the difference goes, there isn't anything different that I've seen anyone discuss other than possibly the ROM itself having support for the LTE chipset baked in (as well as the AT&T app).
Otherwise, I'd just be quite and happy that you saved $100 and/or have 16g extra space.

Hmm, does that mean that I can flash kernels and recoveries made for the Wi-Fi version on the LTE version (assuming that I don't need mobile Internet to work, and I'm not afraid of messing with the userdata partition if it accidentally gets formatted to 16GB)?
I'm in Europe (Romania to be more precise), and I ordered from amazon.de, there's no career bloatware as far as I can see anyway, and shipping it back would likely be more complicated than if I was in Germany (or maybe I'm just looking for excuses to keep it ).
Thanks for the answer though!

Stating you ordered it from Germany sounds like an important thing that might have been useful in your first post I believe you are correct that there are no carrier apps on the international version. I know your radio supports a slightly different radio configuration as well.
Since you sound like you might have some experience with ROM's, you might want to consider going to the NVIDIA developer site and pulling down the ROM image so you can play around and see what makes it tick? You have to register for the site, but its free and seems like an excellent resource. https://developer.nvidia.com/develop4shield
That's about it for my help - good luck!
Hi there people,
I've searched forum a little bit, but didn't found what I need. I want to switch from G6 to Pixel 2, and I can save 200€ by getting Pixel for USA market.
My question is: Is there any difference (except charger), can I use that phone in Europe (Bosnia), network frequencies, software or something is it all the same?
LG has different versions eg. H870, H873, US997, G600 etc..
Should I pay attention to something, and is it worth it? I've red that phone is amazing, best camera, amazing speed, OS up-to-date. All positive things, is there negatives?
P.S. I've googled and it seems that there is none, anyone maybe experienced that?
Thanks guys,
I have the UK version, which is the same as the US one (AFAIK) and no differences except for the charger.
Good to see there's still people in Bosnia who know what a good phone is
Greetings people,
I am planning on buying a P20 PRO, could you please tell me what the best version to get is? the one that gets the most updates?
Any reasons i should not buy this phone?
How often does this phone receive security patches and updates in general ?
Thanks in advance for your answers.
Depends what are you accustomed to. If coming from iOS, be aware we get major updates slower. And in same country different areas gets updates differently.
For me Bluetooth haven't worked at all. And it isn't hardware, but some other unknown reason.
Photos are phenomenal on this phone, as is battery life. There is lag and stutter here and there, but if you have used Android phones before, I think u won't see it. Only iOS users can?

You better look for used unit which already have its bootloader unlocked. So that you can always get updates faster. (as you can do it yourself, by flashing update file without have to wait for OTA arrive)
and the biggest reason not to buy huawei phone today is because they stop the bootloader unlocking process support.
else, phone is very good.
If you really up to for the new one, get CLT L29 either C432 or C636 both have better supports
asian international c636 is the best one
Can someone please explain the difference between models? What's the deal? Sry for noob question..
Hi
Many users may knowing, I am supporting ROM development since N02 to N20 and now S22U is replaced Note series, I am planning to buy it but thinking to go with majority users. This time my country going to get SD. Before buying I want to know how majority users getting it (specifically who are interested in root & custom ROM).
Kindly vote If you are interested to ROOT & custom ROM only.

SD in this case means Snapdragon.
It seems this time Snapdragon share will be much more, may needed to support both version which is much diffiult.
For those interested in the Snapdragon variants, you can pre-order on Wondamobile https://www.wondamobile.com/mobile/samsung/samsung-galaxy-s.html (will ship around March 7)
Keep in mind: Samsung Pay most likely won't work in Europe because the variant is meant for another region. I believe they are selling the Chinese variant, not 100 % sure though.
Personally I've never ordered from Wonda before, but I've only heard good things about them, even on this forum.

May I further add Dr. Ketan that us Snapdragon folks haven't had any good choices for the last couple of years and have been watching with envy from afar.... I also think you'll might just enjoy the challenge of tinkering with a different variant
Gett8ng s22u in Italy, so exynos ver. Interested obviously in ketan rom, that i use in pro version in s21 ultra (i was the first contributor for this phone)
Hats off for your continuous effort bringing the best custom rom development to those that need / want it.
Personally I stopped rooting and customizing my devices a while ago but still keen on following development.
Thanks for keeping the spirit alive

Hi,
From France I'll have an Exynos version. I might be interested in your rom.
Looking forward to a variety of custom ROMs for the SnapDragon variant this time (Exynos had it good all these years)
Snapdragon here
Just to share good news guys
S22 bootloader unlock screen I have extracted from S22 ultra and there is no camera disable warning. Cheers!
No idea what is going on. everyone talking India is etting snapdragon this time but when I have extracted CSC file from official S22 ultra firmware, India is included in exynos and there no India CSC there on snapdragon firmware csc
I live in the UK so Exynos. Pre-ordered my phone already. I believe ignoring the Exynos version won't be easy that much since whole EU with get that version and XDA is English speaking forum and I believe most user from EU or english speaking countries.
LOL. Exynos was always supported. You can't stop now. We count on you. And thank you for all these years.
In fact, with USA/ Canada/Australia/ New Zealand and now India - most English-speaking users will be having the Snapdragon variant.
A lot of the EU users don't necessarily speak English, especially central & eastern parts of Europe. Quite a few may import the Snapdragon variant (especially if Exynos variant turns out to be relatively inferior as has been the recent trend).
I want a New phone and I would be using it in Canada. I have been looking mostly on Aliexpress
because I can save quite a bit of money. I am looking for a Motorola because suppose to be clean android and
little or no Bloatware at least the version from Canada. I know nothing about downloading Roms and don't know the meaning of what Rooting is
so I have to keep things simple. My dilemma is do I get a Global Version because I will get OTA updates with no hassle or a Chinese Version that the seller has flashed a Global Rom on? The Chinese with the global rom may or may not get OTA updates but is cheaper than a True Global Version from Aliexpress.
The seller says I can update the phone myself? I don't mind updating if the phone notifies me of an update and I just have to Tap to install
but I don't know if it is that easy? What should I do?
Also Motorola doesn't have any Global Version I can find like Xiaomi has but even they do not have all models in Global Versions.
I would never buy a phone off AliExpress because this seller is known to sell fake produccts.
Generally, AliExpress is a great place to source your merchandise only if you know how to find genuine products on the site.

By looking for cheap buys and not knowing anything about the device, you really won't save anything.
In my opinion, it will be better for you if you buy on the local secondary market a phone from a year or two ago, which was categorized as mid-range on the day of its release.
Be careful with any to good to be offer's! Do your homework while shopping...
Yes I know about that. A genuine seller has the money back guarantee protection through aliexpress. The sub par ones do not. I bought a Redmi Note 8 Pro 3 years ago with no problems.
Done lots of homework. When I see a Samsung S22 for $200 I know it's a fake.
The sellers with the guarantee are what I look for.
So now we have got past about shopping on Aliexpress
Is anyone going to comment if the Chinese with a global rom be ok given my skill level or forget it and only buy a true "Global Version"?
My only problem about the CN/Global Rom is getting system and security updates.
Updates get rolled by OEM if they deem it necessary. Has nothing to do what ROM initially is flashed. Providing updates causes enormous costs, which OEMs naturally try to avoid because it reduces the profit margin.
Only with Google devices ( AOSP based ) you can be sure to always get latest updates.
So why then if you buy a Chinese phone flashed with a Global Rom the sellers says OTA updates not supported?
1. My understanding: Global ROM, as also Chinese ROM, is software, whereas Global Version is hardware. But I may err as always.
2. OTA stands for Over the Air ( FOTA – Firmware Over the Air ). It refers to the wireless delivery of new or updated software or firmware to devices such as smartphones and tablets.
The OTA process is self-explanatory in that it delivers updated software wirelessly or ‘over the air’. These updates are distributed over Wi-Fi or mobile broadband using a function built into the smartphone or tablet’s operating system or through a special OTA app that’s given root access. The update goes out to all the designated smartphones or tablets from one central control panel.
I am following you sort of. I know that updates are sent OTA.
What I need to know is how will I get these software and firmware update if the seller is saying "OTA updates" not supported after they install the Global Rom?
My experience so far with pervious cell phones is this process happens automatically with maybe the hardest thing to do is accept it by a Tap.
If this process is complicated because it is not supported I can't continue about thinking to buy as I am not a Tech Savvy cell phone guy.
the answer is very simple: you have to take care of possible updates yourself
No Problem but is it easy like a matter of Tap Yes to update or is like loading another updated Rom?
I don't know if you figured it out or not but in my opinion if you are saving a good amount go for Chinese version and you can simply flash a global one and root your device to get your device certified
Updates will not be the issue you can install the updates the only issue will be after every update you have to root your device again
As you said you don't know how to root. root is something you should have at least basic knowledge to do soo otherwise you may brick your device
So facts are Infront of you if you still think it's worth buying and you can manage the struggle
