I have a rooted OPO with the latest official CM12.1 installed. My phone heats up near where the camera is very often. The usual temperature of the CPU stays well over 40 deg. C constantly with it hardly ever coming down. The temperature reaches above 75 deg. C in the following scenarios:
- Phone is being charged
- While using Google Maps
- While on a long call (longer than 15-20 mins)
- Surfing the web
- Playing games
Now i understand that the phone heating up during some of the scenarios mentioned above is usual. But the standby temperature is something that worries me. The battery on my phone also lasts for a shorter while now. Is there anything that can be done to resolve this?
Can I apply some kind of heat sink paste/pads on the CPU itself? Please do let me know. Any help in this regards will be highly appreciated! Thanks guys!

Heat Sink... LOLNO
This might be a software issue... A rom bug, or maybe some app is going crazy in the background...
Hello fellas, I bought this phone around 3 days ago. But my phone won't use quick charge/ fast charge for some reason? It's always on "charging", it doesn't even alternate with "quick charging"
I'm on 8.1(Security patch: 1 May 2018). Is the default charger not capable of it? I feel like I'm missing something here, I found the following thread but I'm not sure if my problem is similar but I'm hoping people on this OS version can give me any insights?
https://forum.xda-developers.com/nokia-7-plus/how-to/quick-charging-issues-t3791414
Or should I just upgrade to Android P to test? But I don't really want to enter the preview version just because of this problem
There is a fast chraging but when the device is asleep and will come back to normal charging when u start using the phone,,, nokia uses this method to solve the heating issue or to keep the phone cool while using it. This feature comes with may security update.

Are you sure this is the issue? I mean there should be some way to check and verify if your charger is working as intended.
Just charge your phone from 0 to 100% and check how long it takes. If below two hours then it's okay. I have the same issue, the phone shows "charging quickly" only when left alone for some time. Just after I bought this Nokia I had problem with charging and using the phone simultaneously. It was turning the quick charge on and off like mad while popping errors that "turning off quick charge because phone is too hot". Now they fixed it so it doesn't quick charge when used.

Fam I just put my phone on charging, I just peeked to take a look because my phone was taking too long to charge.
This is a known bug with Oreo 8.1 May Release. It's affecting the Pixel as well and Google are working on it. As of next release it *should* be working again. It was in an effort to stop the device overheating but it's had more impact than expected. I believe it should only come on if you're playing a game etc, but it's coming on constantly.

Quite frankly I would be relieved if it's a software issue, I also noticed it flickering from charging rapidly to charging right as I put it on charge. Seems like my problem is same as the other owners of this device, and they mentioned the same issue you did. I guess I'll wait for next update then.
Also, it is quite frustrating to see my mobile charging for over two hours and it has barely gone from 29% to 80%.

I can confirm that the June patch has not fixed the issue. My charging cable is designed to glow Red whilst charging normally, and Blue if Qualcom Fast Charge is in use. If i leave the phone locked for 2 minutes it goes blue. Unlocking the phone, it stays blue, but the moment I open any application it goes to red

That is slightly different to mine. If there are no applications running in the background, and I lock my phone, it fast charges (Confirmed via my charger light) but of course goes back to normal charging the moment an application is opened on the phone.

Update size "87.4 MB"? strange... i have size "1267.3 MB" on TA-1046 and of course i updating from previous "8.1 may"...
EDIT: if anyone have problem after upgrade with showing overlay window saying "Power Saver has stopped", this is because of June update downgrade used database version, fix it using:
Code:
adb shell pm clear com.evenwell.powersaving.g3
(tips from: http://forum.mobilmania.cz/viewtopic.php?p=11955929#p11955929)
Update. I have emailed Nokia Support, with links to numerous forums in relation to this issue (including this thread). My understanding now is that it is not an issue with Oreo 8.1 but was a change that was backed into the May update, as there were complaints that the phone was overheating whilst being used. Instead of Nokia simply setting up a thermal safety net, they disabled Fast Charge completely. I have 100% confirmed that if the phone is not in use (not even streaming Spotify to Bluetooth in card for example) that it will go to Fast Charge and charge normally. As soon as you unlock the phone or turn on the screen, it will change back to normal charge.
There are 3 levels of charge. 1amp, 2.1 amp and 3.1amp. The phone will drop to 2.1 amp whilst in use, and down to 1amp if the phone gets too hot (depending on the charger in use).
At this time there is no fix, but I will continue to update you all once Nokia get back to me. There are also MANY threads about this on the official Nokia forums as well. Having the "option" under Battery would be ideal. For those noticing it is heating up, they can turn on "Fast Charge only on Device Idle", whilst the rest of us can use Qualcomm Fast Charge 3.0 as it was DESIGNED to be used.

I have emailed Nokia again stating that this is an ongoing issue affecting over 100 people so far on their forums, and that they need to get a fix going ASAP.
I have the same issue as well.

The moment screen is turned on, it falls back to normal charging, I realized that by experimenting myself. And from now on, I just make sure that the screen is turned off while charging, and my phone gets to 100% in around 2 hours.
Even i observed that sometimes on the same charging point with same charger I get charging written on lock screen and sometimes it's charging rapidly. Not sure if this is because of the flow the electricity on that point or it is something else.
Just got the phone model ta-1055 yesterday Brand New. It did update to July patch instantly.
Fast Charging isn't working, it takes 3/4 hours charging from 10%. I barely saw "Rapid Charging" for a second few times trying different cables/chargers combinations.
Should I return it?
Ive got the exact same issue. Same android version and security patch.

I enrolled on Android P and after upgrading the Fast Charge is working. These are my measurements using the cable and charger provided with the phone:
After 15 minutes charge from 0% to 26% battery
After 30 minutes charge from 0% to 48% battery
After 60 minutes charge from 0% to 77% battery
After 90 minutes charge from 0% to 94% battery
After 112 minutes charge finally 100% battery
During charging the phone's always showing "Charging rapidly" on the lock screen.
I did downgrade to Oreo 1st of April patch and I will soon test it again before applying the latest Oreo patch updates.
P.S. I did realize that with 1st April Oreo patch the fingerprint navigation is present, it wasn't present with both the latest Oreo patch and the Android P beta.
Hi all. I have recently updated my system to android pie. and after that whenever I charge my phone, its battery tempreture rises as high as 48 degree (ofcourse I stop charging at this time so dont know if it will rise further or not.)
I am not sure if any body is facing same issue.
Please help me if anybody know the reason and the solution to heating problem.
Edit :- There is no heating problem playing highend games like pubg, asphalt 8

Did you reset your phone after update. If not I would suggest you to do this first and check it.
Is it really necessary to reset the device? Cause it will take much time to backup and restore

To outrule any hardware issues it's necessary.
By using Huawei backup tool you can back up everything.
After major upgrades there are chances of such issues . In most of the cases soft reset solves the problem.
I formatted my device cleared cache partition but the problem is still there,
Device gets hot while charging after pie update. Now it gets hot even when you play pubg.
I dont know if anybody else has faced this issue but there are no discussion or solution for this thing over the web.
Edit :- The device gets hot on the upper part of it so I am sure its not battery its processor who is getting hot. possible reason could be the kernal. but I dont know how to resolve it as I am not rooted and neither want to root it.
cpu monitor shows cpu tempreture to 37 degree celcius and battery temperature to 42 degree celcius

Honor increased the charging speed even with the quick charger (9V/2A) that was included in the box in the India variant to reach charging speeds of the super charger (5V/4.5A). Previously on EMUI 8.0 I used to see around 2A as the charging current in the 'Ampere' app. Now with EMUI 9.0 I see it goes all the way to 3.2A. This is why the phone gets so hot.
You could switch to using a slower charger (5V/2A) to bring down the charging temperature a lot. Use the quick charger only if you're in a hurry.
Cheers,
Anish

I was feeling the same. but charging time has not been reducedat all. further to add .. initially my mobile not used to heat while playing pubg but now it has started heating while playing pubg.
Good Day everyone,
I wanted to ask if a couple of yours are running already the latest 10.0.8 OOA and experienced battery drain? My smartphone will just go up to 4-5 hours SOT (with luck and light usage) and I feel after upgrading from 10.0.6, it won't last as long as before. I'm on stock firmware just running Renovate V14 and Magisk 20.4. My phone is now nearly 1 and 1/2 years old, was mostly only charged up to 80% by limiter in this time, sometimes only for calibration purpose full.
But unfortunately, I did deeply discharged it 2-3 times where it did shutdown itself, could that killed some battery cells? (but normally it should not because of charging electronics)
I have a feeling it could be caused by Google Play services, they are running all the time in the background. Is that normal? I did no look on that stats before...
Any suggestions, what I could do on that subject? Every kind of are highly appreciated
A Screenshot of this behavior. All other applications are working fine. Just YouTube and Music by BT mostly was used.
I think this issue is addressed in the latest issue.
Did anyone encounter the same problem??
Two 5ii of mine are draining too fast this month.
I don't think it's a hardware problem, but a software problem.
Anyone??

I noticed that too for a week.
It must have been some Google service update that generated a lot of unusual wakelocks.
In my case, it's gone and back to normal.
reboot your device just in case
Same here as I texted this. I've getting SOT like less than 4 hours per day even I've restricted battery on some apps and restricting background data. However the issue still persists.
Kinda agree with the Google Service Update thingy since after some play store or updates installed and the battery drainage is just absurd.
Also throttling the CPU a lot and temperature is higher than usual, almost achieving 40°C in just usual social media, browsing and working.
Worst is that I've reboot in safe mode, and multiple restarts and is still draining battery vigorously.
Hope some software or google updates can solve this issue quickly.
From my experience (see my previous post) i had the problem for about 1 week and then it went away.
And lately, I'm getting the best-ever deep sleep battery consumption during night: ~3% .
I did not tweak any app battery policy in settings and I'm using stock A12 latest update.
You may have some rogue app update that is not in tune with the correct power management posture.
I have the same issue. It seems to have been triggered by poor network connectivity or something. The first time I had this issue, I had to solve it via software repair. I'm not keen to go through the process for the second time. I have shut down and restarted my phone several times.
There have been a number of posts on Reddit recently about massive battery drain with Sony phones.
Here and here and here and here
Seems like it's a Sony Vs Google problem
I have had the same huge battery drain, with my phone going from lasting two days between charges, to now getting hot and lasting just 15 hours
When I look at running apps, I see Gooogle Play Services has 2 or 3 instancnces. Some with 13 services. In the last two weeks Play Services has used 825Mb of data. Feels like my phone has become an AV transmitter.
Hello guys, today I noticed that the battery is finally back to normal. I turned on auto-update for everything and let it update whatever it needs to at the very first place.
Hope this kind of **** don't happen ever again.
I don't have auto-update and that issue only lasted a few days
