Hi all. I have recently updated my system to android pie. and after that whenever I charge my phone, its battery tempreture rises as high as 48 degree (ofcourse I stop charging at this time so dont know if it will rise further or not.)
I am not sure if any body is facing same issue.
Please help me if anybody know the reason and the solution to heating problem.
Edit :- There is no heating problem playing highend games like pubg, asphalt 8

Did you reset your phone after update. If not I would suggest you to do this first and check it.
Is it really necessary to reset the device? Cause it will take much time to backup and restore

To outrule any hardware issues it's necessary.
By using Huawei backup tool you can back up everything.
After major upgrades there are chances of such issues . In most of the cases soft reset solves the problem.
I formatted my device cleared cache partition but the problem is still there,
Device gets hot while charging after pie update. Now it gets hot even when you play pubg.
I dont know if anybody else has faced this issue but there are no discussion or solution for this thing over the web.
Edit :- The device gets hot on the upper part of it so I am sure its not battery its processor who is getting hot. possible reason could be the kernal. but I dont know how to resolve it as I am not rooted and neither want to root it.
cpu monitor shows cpu tempreture to 37 degree celcius and battery temperature to 42 degree celcius

Honor increased the charging speed even with the quick charger (9V/2A) that was included in the box in the India variant to reach charging speeds of the super charger (5V/4.5A). Previously on EMUI 8.0 I used to see around 2A as the charging current in the 'Ampere' app. Now with EMUI 9.0 I see it goes all the way to 3.2A. This is why the phone gets so hot.
You could switch to using a slower charger (5V/2A) to bring down the charging temperature a lot. Use the quick charger only if you're in a hurry.
Cheers,
Anish

give it a restart and see if its still overheating while charging.
Still seems to heat up, even when not charging, it not too sure if its normal since my desire HD doesn't heat at all.
around what temp should it be normally?
I also find the battery almost impossible to remove.

could be that you got some apps that's making your processor go crazy =/
Got any apps like setCPU or along those lines and you set it to be as high as possible or set to Performance? That can cause overheating if you don't set a profile to bring it back down. If not, maybe you could install apps like SystemPanel or WatchDog Task Manager to check if there's any strange apps.
You could always reflash your rom or a different one to see if that fixes the problem.
Might also be a battery problem. Replacing the battery could help too.
I'm not rooted yet, i just wanted to know if there was something wrong with my optimus3d
I recently tested the battery with the StabilityTest app over 2 hours long (noncharging) and it didn't go over 28°C... so normally it can't be a problem with an app stressing the cpu too much
how long should the O3D's battery last? Mine pretty much goes down 1% in less than 1 minute with display on full brightness while doing almost nothing...

Most probably you have a process causing this. If you are using any kind of cover or case, DON'T use it until the problem is fixed, or you can get the cpu burned
i'm using a brand new optus australia optimus 3d, it doesn't have a cover, or much apps installed (Except ADW and a few gameloft games - which don't cause battery drain on my desire hd)
Android system seems to be using 70% as well, even though autosync is off.
I'm using the most recent android 2.2.2 update.
Its fairly normal for it to heat up a little when charging. The charge circuit has a feature where it will fast charge and try to dump as much current as it can into the battery when it is really low. I have a two amp usb mains charger that fully charges the battery in 20 minutes and that causes it to heat up pretty significantly. I find that any task that works the gpu significantly heats it up too. Pretty normal really.

my battery takes quite a long time to charge though...
You need to check your CPU usage, if your cpu running 100% all the time, that mean something is bugged. I got this problem now, sometimes after using the MX video player, my cpu always stay at 100%, I need to restart my phone to fix it.
i use recent coh gingerbread v2.2 and watch movie for almost 2 hr and at about 46c
Hi,
Sorry to bother you, but could you tell me if your replacement Nexus 5 battery has a varied temperature?
I mean if the temperature goes up to 35 Celsius when it's charging or you're playing games, of if it goes down to 25 when it's idle.
Because my replacement battery always stays at 29 degrees Celsius, no matter how I use the phone.
I think mine might be bad, but I want to check with someone else before buying another one.
The temperature is the same in all the apps: GSam, CPU-Z, secret Android settings menu.
Completely stock system, OTA 5.0.1.
Thanks.
There isn't anyone that has changed their N5 battery in this forum?
I just want to know what is their battery temperature. Thanks.

All apps show the same value because they read battery stats from the same place. Have you tried restarting or clearing /cache? Because what you're saying physically impossible.

It is possible if the sensor is either broken (improbable) or a dummy ( 10k resistor )
Yes, this might be the case.
Like I said, I use now a replacement battery, and it might have a broken sensor or a dummy sensor..
This is why I asked about other people's replacement batteries, how are they reporting the temperature ?
Are there replacement batteries that report correctly the temperature ?

Don't worry about battery temperature unless it somehow goes over 60C, which is extremely unlikely as there is a battery temperature throttle in the kernel unless you specifically went and disabled it. The CPU will almost always throttle before the battery reaches such temperatures anyways.

I have the exact same behavior with my newly replaced battery.
Where did you bought it?
I did bought mine on ebay from this seller http://www.ebay.fr/itm/311164295976?ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1439.l2649
I hope this is not a fake thermal sensor... maybe it is because the battery is new and not fully "activated"?
Sounds like you guys bought non OEM replacement batteries that have left the sensor out to save money.
What is realy confusing me is that after 1 full cycle the battery shows very good results :
- SOT 5h10min!
- I did run at least 5 Antutu full tests
- chrome web surfing
- downloaded nearly 5Gb of data
- 1 hour gps maps
and still 28% left!
But the temp sensor doesnt work :crying:
I wonder how dangerous it could be since system has a wrong reading of the real battery temp.
If someone knows how android manage phone state when reading high batt temp...
Does it shut down it? or anything that protect it against explode

Relax, there's a hi temp shutdown which will shut down your device if it gets too hot. There's also an explosion door on the back of your device that'll relieve pressure if it gets too high, jk.

High temp shutdown based on what reading? As far as I know Nexus 5 has only 2 temp sensors avaible : CPU and battery.
If the battery sensor reading is wrong, I wonder how the phone can shut down since CPU temp can remain cool while battery is getting warmer and warmer.
I have a rooted OPO with the latest official CM12.1 installed. My phone heats up near where the camera is very often. The usual temperature of the CPU stays well over 40 deg. C constantly with it hardly ever coming down. The temperature reaches above 75 deg. C in the following scenarios:
- Phone is being charged
- While using Google Maps
- While on a long call (longer than 15-20 mins)
- Surfing the web
- Playing games
Now i understand that the phone heating up during some of the scenarios mentioned above is usual. But the standby temperature is something that worries me. The battery on my phone also lasts for a shorter while now. Is there anything that can be done to resolve this?
Can I apply some kind of heat sink paste/pads on the CPU itself? Please do let me know. Any help in this regards will be highly appreciated! Thanks guys!

This might be a software issue... A rom bug, or maybe some app is going crazy in the background...
Hi my phone was working absolutely fine without any issue but since a last week its keep on hanging and restarting again and again , Even I totally format and made a new flash but its still same, Any suggestion , how to avoid this issue, currently there's no third party application, but its behaviour is same... :crying:

Yes it has also battery issue.. OK , I'll change battery and then check the results..
Same scenario here..
Same problem here since about 2 weeks.
I suspect the battery health.
I have seriously unstable battery voltage measured by various battery monitoring apps downloaded from Play Store.
I cross-checked the reported results from all those apps and they report the same identical figures. Meaning they read and report the data correctly.
They all show unstable (jumping high and dropping low) battery voltage.
The nominal voltage printed on the battery is 3.85 Volts.
It gets as low as 3.55~3.6 V and goes up to 4.15~4.2+, but more on the high voltage side.
I have experienced reboots on almost all and every voltage.
I mean how stable should a healthy battery voltage be on this device (Samsung Galaxy Note Edge SM-N915F)? While unplugged from the charger with normal phone usage?
Can the rest who own this device (Samsung Galaxy Note Edge) [mine is N915F], who DO NOT have the mentioned freezing and rebooting problem check and see what their battery voltage both plugged in charger and unplugged is?! How high or low it gets? How stable/unstable the battery voltage is? Does it jump high and low even with a healthy new battery?
Since this problem started I have clean flashed the latest available stock ROM using Odin3 v3.13.3 both downloaded from SamMobile website.
I have no third party apps installed and still the problem persists.
I'm not new to flashing ROMs and stuff. I now have hit a brick wall and can't get around this problem.
Please check battery voltage and report. I suspect it could be the culprit behind all freezes and reboots, but I don't want to replace the battery unless I'm sure.
May we be able to identify the cause with the power of community.
Thanks to all

Everything good on my end as well..
I was just going to post the same issue, because it happened to me today, after 2 weeks of using the phone. The unit became so uncomfortable to hold due to heat that I had to turn the phone off completely. At that time the phone was playing music file over Samsung music app, message on the screen popped up stating System UI not responding and when I opened the phone only home screen apps were displayed, all other app icons disappeared, all other pages were empty. Trying to open any app was impossible, touch screen was not responding. I am little bit worried. The battery was at 27% at 4 pm in the afternoon, I have removed the phone from charger in the morning at 7:30 am. Normal usage during the day, nothing abnormal.
I've noticed heat on the back of the phone but it isn't alarming. I've considered factory resetting it if it worsens but it hasn't really.
You guys may want to get a replacement unit if anything. No excuse considering the price and no variance of Socks.
What firmware are you guys running?
Heating is quite subjective, so it would be better if we give Battery and CPU temperatures here.
My average CPU temp is 31 degrees Celsius and Battery Temperature is about 28. The maximum CPU Temp has risen is 36 and battery max. has been 33.
I suppose, till 40 degrees Celsius there is nothing to worry. If temperature gets close/above to 45, then the situation gets alarming.
My phone though feels warm many times .

One thing i wanted to add is that as far as I know, average CPU and Battery Temperature should be considered, as both, especially CPU Temp. can fluctuate widely.
If somebody has more info. on the subject, please do post.

I have 5 of Fold 2"s with my friends and sixth is mine. All are experiencing slight overheating.
If you check the web, this issue seems to be quite common.
Try a master reset and maybe this goes away. I did not experience any overheating till day before yesterday, but i installed a lot of apps. yesterday, so it could be a rouge application.
I would do a master reset tonight.

I know a Samsung Technician and i just spoke to him on Fold 2 heating up. He says for Snapdragon 865 " CPU temperature of less than 60 degrees celsius when gaming. & when mobile is doing small processes or in an idle state, max around 45 celsius is not an issue. Also for 865+, this limit has been enhanced by approximately 5 to 10%.
I also read this, though pretty old -
https://www.xda-developers.com/processor-temperature-results-for-tens-of-socs-how-hot-is-your-chip/
Can somebody confirm the above.
