Gear S2 Vibrating & Notification Issues.

Anyone else not getting the vibration when a notification comes in on the gear S2? Mine won't vibrate all the time. At first I had always on screen set to on and I never got a notification. I shut it off and started getting them. Now I'm not getting just the vibration. But if I swipe to the side the notifications are there. Non Samsung phone. 
It seems like the watch when the screen is off goes into a sleep mode and doesnt wake up for the notification. What gives?

Had two random reboots today and the screen froze up as well. This POS is going back to best buy. Samsung cant get there **** together.

Always on mode doesnt work at all. Watch goes to sleep it seems and doesnt wake up with notifications. This is overall junk.

I had the exact same issue. The vibration issue coupled with a battery that went from 100% to 0% in less than 5 hours, normal use.
I have 12 days to return. I hope Samsung pushes an update within 12 days. I really like the hardware and UI, but it's just so damn buggy.

I have no such issues you guys are describing. I have a black S2. It's paired to a Galaxy S6 Edge.

If I don't have the always on clock showing on the watch I will not get any notification. Using it with a One Plus 2. If the screen is on I will get nothing. The screen has to be off and in the always on mode or else it doesnt work. I just got a email and my watch did ****. I hate this ****ing ****.

i have no issue with my watch not vibrating at least not as far as i know.
i was just wondering if i can change vibration patterns. i know i can change the strength but the quick 3 times vibration is a bit annoying. i would like to change it so something else.
also the vibration on AW was better in my opinion because it resembled the pattern that was set on the phone for that specific notification

The only thing you can change about vibration, in addition to off/weak/strong, is long buzz or not.

Wait .. is the gear s2 screen supposed to turn on and show a preview of the notification when you get one?
My s2 has simply been vibrating when a notification comes in and there is no change on the screen. I thought that was normal and also thought it was a silly way to design it
If i get a notification right now, I need to wake up the watch, swipe to the left screen and then click it to show details - a lot of moves

You have to set that in the settings.

yeah that's right isn't it. i got the same settings. hopefully there will be more options in a future update

My S2 will vibrate and light up (turned that on in settings) for incoming Texts and Phone Calls every time.
BUT for all other notifications it will not. When I get Google Now alerts or score updates from the ESPN app nothing happens. I am using the Modern face with one of the complications set to Notifications, and that will show me that I do have notifications but what use is that? Unless I look at the watch face to see the time I will never know I received these notifications. If I get a notifications I would like for it to alert me with a vibration. Every time, of all apps I choose.
Does this with a Sony Z3 Compact as well as a Xiaomi Mi4c both running 5.1.1.

This watch is a bust because I tested mine with my moto 360 2nd gen. The Gear S2 didnt get all notification if the screen was off. If it was showing the always on clock it would vib and show. Samsung needs to fix this ASAP. This is a watch that needs to tell me every notification I want.

Have you tried a Light or Factory reset of your S2? That fixed it for me, that or reinstalling the Gear app. I did both so, can't actually confirm which did it. Not having any problems getting all notifications.

I think you need and easy button, or try setting,if you can't find it , I can't help you

I have two of these and both do the same. Won't get notifications if the screen is off and not showing the always on clock. Using it with a note 5.

i have another issue. dont know it its the watch or the gear manager app. i wont get notifications for specific apps. the checkmark in the gear app wont stick. e.g. the greader app. also there are not all apps found in the gear manager app. does anyone know why thats so. for example the chrome app does not show in in notifications in the gear app.

I have done both as well as switched phones and started from scratch. No notification vibration for anything but Text's and Phone Calls.

Is there a solution for this, or does my watch have to go back to the store. I'm "upgrading" from a pebble, but if I can't get a vibration to notify me of a new email, then it's a non-starter. It seems to me that I get vibrations for notifications on apps that were set up by default. But I'm not getting vibrations on any additional (third party) apps. I use e-notify and aquamail, none of these vibrate on notification. I saw on another forum that the phone must be set to vibrate for it to work, but I've tried this, and still nothing.

Is there a program that will allow me to get reminders? I use Touchdown as my regular calendar and I think I can use my Samsung calendar just for reminders but can't get S Voice to work from the GS2. Google Reminders is the best thing going. Of course, I can't feel the viberation but...

Gmail notification problem...

Has anyone here been able to get Gmail notifications to work? I can get the native Samsung email to work sending to my Gear S2, but the Gmail does not work for some reason. I made sure Gmail is turned on/check marked in notifications. Is there something I'm missing?

Works fine for me. I wish there was a Gmail app so we could read emails like the Samsung email app, but the notifications appear on the notification screen. I have a S6 edge+.

Do you have notifications turned on in the Gmail app on your phone? Also I started a thread to make note that on my Nexus 5, I have to have the vibration setting turned on in Gmail notifications on my phone for my S2 to vibrate. I believe that is a bug that Samsung needs to address, as I don't want my phone to vibrate, but I have to to get my S2 to vibrate.

Yes notifications are turned on in the app. I just did a few tests. If Gmail notifications are off on the phone then the watch will not notify either. This is not surprising as it is the phone notification that triggers the watch. However if I turn off vibrate on the phone my watch still vibrates when receiving the notification.

are you using a Samsung phone? I'm using a Nexus, and S2 won't vibrate unless vibrate for Gmail is turned on on phone.

Yes, S6 Edge+. Just tried it again and it definitely vibrates even when phone does not.

It's not, I have a Samsung Galaxy S6 (not edge, not +) and I'm having this same problem where it only vibrates if vibrate is turned on for my phone too. My other email app (cloudmagic, for a different email account) doesn't have this problem. I had a gear fit for the past year and never had this issue... I don't know why it's messed up here. Has anyone figured out a way to fix this yet?
*edit* turns out this isn't just a gmail problem, just figured out that it's an issue for snapchat too. Still not an issue for cloudmagic though...

If you are using a Samsung device, and the devices screen is active then you will NOT receive notifications because it assumes you are looking at your phone and hence don't need the watch. Turn the devices screen off and test, your watch will then vibrate with a notification.

Gear S2 notification issues??

I have a new Galaxy Gear s2 and the Note 4 for At&t....im not new to the smart watch scene and have set it up correctly.....I get about 50% of my notifications on my watch....I hear my phone notification for new email, and wait to get it on my watch and get nothing...but sometimes I do get the notification on my watch...its so erratic...sometimes I get them and sometimes I don't...is this normal? if so its annoying.

Same here had it for two weeks tmobile note 5 and for some reason I factory reset my phone and watch for better performance and now I hardly get any notifications

Make sure the option to ignore notifications while phone is awake is not selected. Can't remember exactly where I found it but that was my problem when I first got my watch.

Didn't fix the issue for. Me =/ I hope we get a software update soon

Same here. Option to ignore disabled, but it doesnt push notifications correctly. Sometimes they arrive some minutes later...

settings are all correct....I'm really starting to hate this watch...

There is option called limited notification, untick that.
Make sure you have selected all apps that you need notification.

I had the watch for 4 days and reset it about three or four times but could never get the notifications to work like they should. I would get some and not get others. All the setting were right. I finally returned it today. Mine was from Verizon. I really loved the watch but the main reason I got it from Verizon was the speaker and to see notifications on my watch when I drive. I found myself having to look at my phone about as much as I looked at my watch.

That's weird, the notifications on my watch actually alert me before my phone does. If not before then they both alert me at the same time with my Note 5.

I decided to go back to Verizon and try another watch and the second one is working near perfect. It has not missed a single notification, knock on wood. It seems the first one was bad. I should have know when I had to reset it almost immediately when the heart rate monitor and steps would not function. So far so good with the new one.

Hate to say but paired to my iphone I get all notifications without any problem,except that I lost bluetooth connection a few times.

I had some notification issues over the network. Make sure you setup notifications proper in both the Samsung Gear app and the app itself (ie email). To solve my notification issues over the network in remote connection mode I had to "reinstall" the Samsung gear app which also forced my watch to do a light reset. See my post over in Connection modes for more details.

To bump this up, I have the same problem. Slow notifications regularly, no notifications at all when the phone is charging. I have disabled the option to not show notifications when the phone is active and no change. It's the only grip I have with the watch

I get 98% of the notifications so no big deal for me,but the only app that I don't get notification on the watch is YouTube

I would be very interested to know how accurate the S3 would be in watch only mode.
Presumably, in watch only mode, the device would have no phone or network connection so would not be able to auto-update itself?

I thought the interval setting (e.g. Permanent) for pulse measurement is also included in Tizen 3? At least on Gear Sport and Fit2 Pro it's included.

I don't understand what new functionally the watch only mode brings. The S3 can be put in airplane mode. This turns off cellular, WiFi, and BT, thus making the watch an island unto itself. It's not completely dumb, apps not requiring connectivity still work (ie. stopwatch, HR monitor, calendar, S Pay) and previously inputted data is still available. In this mode, the battery will last for several days. The biggest drain will be the watch face.
BTW, auto updates can be turned off. It's a setting in the Gear Manager app.

IMHO we have to wait longer...
Not expect too "soon".
If we have luck then maybe as Xmas "gift" in late December.

I'm not launching nuclear missles or solving the national debt so most of the upgrades don't impact me. Mine does what I want it to do now and I'm afraid an "improvement" will screw up a good thing. A new OS is a risk just to get rid of the little clock on the top when I'm in Standalone.

In watch only mode, the watch can last for several weeks, not just several days.

unfortunately they forgot to mention a terrible new feature: notifications are instantly dismissed by the sleep gesture.
the watch has a "wake up" gesture which wakes the screen when you turn your wrist to look at it, but enabling it would already force the inverse on you as well.
turning your watch away from your face(or towards you while not in an upright standing position, which is why it's such a failure) will make it go back to sleep.
this was annoying enough before version 3, but now this will also dismiss notification pop-ups.
this means the watch now frequently keeps marking new notifications as read and dismissing them before I even get a chance to read them.
so I receive a notification, I turn my wrist to look at it, and I'm presented with my watchface with no notification or unread-marker.
so now whenever I receive a notification I have to rotate the bezel or swipe into the notification history to see the notification, when I should just be able to see it instantly.

I was under the 2.3.2.4 version. I am to go under the 2.3.2.3 version and the miracle the update 3.0.0.1 came fast in case for information

Not yet rollout to my s3. Just curious If the whatsapp notification issue is fixed or not.

UA Record issue with Tizen 3
It also broke UA Record app. After update UA started, pause button worked (used for my rest between set of exercises performed in gym) but when I tried to use Resume button - application stopped and I had back again my watchface. No exercises recorded. So I decided to reinstall app and what? App is freeezing on it's start screen and after few minutes I have ma watchface back again. Till now it was the only app used by my so often and now it's a sh...t. Does anytime Samsung have to spoil good working things?
Update. Wow. today is working. However another issue - I tried to add new widget in a Quick panel and what? I have message "Installing ... " since two hours and nothing more

watch is lagging after 3.0.0.1 update, any fix coming

Why are they so ignorant about this issue? Havent any of the engineers at samsung tried to actually use this watch on daily life?! I am so bored of using another app to fix samsung's fault

Question Notification problems

Hello All
Ive got the GW4 46mm BT classic paired with a Note20U both up to date , woke up this morning after watch been fine for a week and put my watch on but no notifications coming thru to the watch did quick restart on both no go.
Reset the watch and only some notifications come thru no email or texts tho whatsapp is ok , checked settings nothing has changed.
Uninstalled galaxy gear app and reset watch still the same missing certain notifications even tho they are ticked .
Watch is set to show even if phone is open.
Any ideas ?

You may need to turn on notifications for the specific apps in the wearable app. I had to do this as I was getting no notifications for any apps.

I've checked all the settings and all ticked . Emaids via the Samsung app now work but texts messages have now stopped showing on the watch even tho notification is ticked !!!

As I never had this problem with the old generation watch I got before (Gear S3 running Tizen), I think we have just to wait for the 1st product OS update.
Youth problems are common on first releases. I hope first OTA will fix this annoying problem.

Same here. Text messages and phone calls appear fine. WhatsApp is a hit and miss, sometimes pops up, sometimes just silently shows the notification dot.
In general, regardless of this bug, notification management on this watch is a mess, very poor user experience.
Some things I noticed:
1. If you're driving with Android Auto, it's impossible to respond or take action on a notification on your watch. Anything you click on (such as 'Delete' on an email notification or 'Mark as Read' on a text message) seemingly registers on the watch but the notification persists and no action is taken.
2. The notification indicator is useless if you have the watch set to wake up the screen when you get a notification. Basically it wakes up the screen to display the notification and from that point on it's considered 'read' so the indicator won't appear, even if you didn't actually look at it. They should've had an option to show the indicator while you have uncleared notifications.
3. Multiple notifications from the same app require you to click on a tiny number icon at the bottom of the notification. Inconvenient. (Think when you have multiple WhatsApp messages from different contacts).
4. Looking at a notification screen gives you no indication of whether or not you have other notifications, you have to try to swipe left to check.
5. To clear a notification while it's open -- you either have to click 'back' to the main notification screen and then swipe up or scroll all the way down to find the 'clear' button -- which sometimes isn't there and you have to click on 'More...' first. How about just allowing me to swipe to dismiss it after reading it?!
They'e put a lot of emphasis on health, but given very little thought about the basics.

I can only confirm and complain that I get 0 notifications from Whatsapp even though I've checked all the notifiation settings multiple times. Also even though I've got the wear os version of telegram installed, the telegram notifications I get are standard notifications that can't show e.g. pictures or voice messages.

It was working fine when I got it on tuesday. It even worked fine after the "day 1 OTA". And now I get nothing at all. Tried everything from granting more permissions to the Watch4 Plugin or disabling battery optimization and stuff. Restarted both devices a lot. It just stopped working. I am glad I am not the only one...

An update for you mine started getting notifications texts,Samsung emails etc . Gmail shows randomly but no vibrate or sound on Gmail other notification have this ,
I don't have a clue whats changed to fix this I already had OTA just woke up a few days ago and they were working phone was upstairs watch downstairs overnight ?!?

Weird... well I guess I have to wait. lol

Update from me as well. I turned off both phone and watch and turned them back on together after a few minutes. I don't know why it works but it does.
Edit: Nvm it worked for like one notification and then it stopped working again...

Restarting both devices helped me.

I played around with a bit more. Restarting both devices helps...for a while. As soon as the watch reconnects to the phone (i.e. you move too far from your phone) it stops working. Very annoying still.

I'm has been fine since it started working last week had few disconnects while walking away from phone but coming back in to range and its reconnects fine and notifications a work .
It does repeat whatsapp messages that I previously read and gmail still not vibtrate of sound ,

Sounds way better than my status. Do you have a Samsung phone? I am using a Black Shark phone. I still have to investigate this further...

I have the impression that all the notifications work fine now: Gmail, WhatsApp, Nuki, telegram, Smartthings, messages, Gtask.
Hope it will stay ok.
Mean reason for me is having phone on silence but I can see notifications on watch.
Btw the watch 4 classic is a real beast.

What version of plugin do you have?
I still have no gmail vibrate.
