Am I just blind or is there not an option to choose a live wallpaper for the background on the S8+?
I'm using Nova launcher and it's just a long press on the desktop, choose wallpaper icon and then the live wallpapers are last in the list over to the right. That said, some of the stock wallpapers seem to stop and start for no reason!
I can't find it either on the stock launcher. I can't get rid of the infinity live wallpaper on the always on display either.
It's in settings > wallpapers for sick, it's the first four wallpapers with a tiny play button in the upper right corner.
They call them infinity wallpapers, you do it through their theme app thing

Which clock did you pick? Depending on which clock you picked, you're gonna see the live wallpaper on the AOD. I know you won't see the wallpaper if you pick the calendar one. That's the one I'm using.
It's the default set one.

Those are different from live wallpapers. I have several live wallpapers installed and none show up. I think this is a bug. I read somewhere earlier that this is fixed in Android 7.1.2 which I don't have yet. I'm on Verizon and am running 7.0.
Yeah I can't figure it out either...
I use 3d Parallax Backgrounds, and these live wallpapers seem fine. Although I have to use the app to set them. As I also don't see the stock option for live wallpaper.
Samsung removed it with nougat. Here a link to a app to use live wallpapers https://forum.xda-developers.com/s7-edge/themes/app-7-0-live-wallpaper-picker-home-lock-t3503347 Use the 1.21 final one

If you download a wallpaper called blow them all live wallpaper it comes with a separate app to apply this wallpaper but it also lists all other live wallpapers you have downloaded which don't show up on the phone itself so you can apply any live wallpaper you download through this app, there is a free and paid version of this app, the free one works fine for doing this, just open the app click set wallpaper and your list of all downloaded live wallpapers will pop up
anyone has the Whale Wallpaper of S8 ?
the one we see in Adds of S8
Solution!
As mentioned by someone else downloading "Blow them all Live Wallpaper" makes it possible to see all other live wallpapers you have downloaded. Go to the settings for the "Blow ...." and go to "set wallpaper". There they will be.
With all the live wallpapers I used you run the live wallpaper from it's app icon and it allows you to set it.
Easier solution
At the end of the route of "My Wallpapers" click the last thumbnail with the plus sign on it, then click the triple-dots and select Live Wallpapers. You should see you're installed live wallpapers.
Here's what I've been using to set them https://forum.xda-developers.com/s7-edge/themes/app-7-0-live-wallpaper-picker-home-lock-t3503347
Edit: doesn't work for me now, used to use on my s7 nougat

Go to Settings -> Wallpapers & Themes -> My Wallpapers -> Three Dots in upper right corner of screen -> Live Wallpapers. It should be the only option in the pop-up menu that appears. It has been there since day one on my verizon s8+.
I'm using the Live Wallpaper Picker from here on my S8+ and Note 8.

This is the right answer, folks. Samsung has certainly not removed a built-in way to do this, but the location of the option is buried a little deeper than it should be.
If you download an app that can display and make shortcuts to "activities" (Tasker, QuickShortcutMaker, probably many more), you can create a shortcut to the built-in activity to avoid having to use Samsung's theming app to apply an installed live wallpaper.

Just downloaded google wallpapers and the live one are great - pixel 2 wallpapers work great
Just install as Normal apk.
Use google Wallpaper to apply for those who dont have live wallpaper picker like s9 users.
mod edit
For those who wonder if those APK's are legit, they are, but sadly its not an interactive wallpaper like on iOS, it's just a looped video of the original wallpaper placed as a wallpaper (see attached doc).
Best regards,
Seems like malware to me. But the freaky robot voice told me it's a virus. DO NOT CLICK!

I just picked up the Galaxy Note 9 and was looking up wallpaper dimensions. I ran across part of a review posted back in Aug at Note 9 Launch that said the device would support Wallpaper Scrolling on the home screen. More specifically it referred to these wallpapers that were going to be released with the phone that were 2560 x 2560 to allow scrolling wallpaper. Going through every setting and wallpaper I can, and I don't even see the square wallpapers that guy was referring to, let alone anything that'd allow me to apply one of my wallpapers with scrolling effect.
I can't find anything anywhere (not just here) more recent than 2013 (one or two articles/threads from 2015) that explain the Scrolling Wallpaper effect, if it still exists, etc.
Anyone have any info on this? Seems like a pretty straightforward effect that wouldn't be too terribly resource intensive.
Drywall is a wallpaper manager I built from scratch that was inspired by Google Wallpapers and Jahir fiquitiva Frames android library. I needed a wallpaper provider for my launcher as a default but i figured why make it exclusive? I tried making it as original as possible and built to stand its own over time.
Drywall has a few tricks up its sleeve as a Wallpaper Manager
-I have several categories to choose from as well as an exclusive Pixel Photography category that features photos taken directly from Pixels.
-The weekly featured category has over 400 different photos regularly updated and loaded from our good folks from Reddit.
-Each category preview tile is updated via the last image you previewed so the dashboard can give you alittle hint of where that last cool photo was you were looking at.
-You can select a photo from your gallery as a wallpaper.
-Drywall will list all the available wallpaper provider apps in your system (disregarding defaults like Google wallpapers)
-Users can search for hinted titles in each category
-Drywall will list live wallpapers available (Not available in Android 11)
-All images are rendered and managed Glide
-All images use a smart crop view powered by an new addon for Glide called Glimpse
-Images in the preview window allow users to inspect information about the selected image like color pallette, dimensions, author, sources sharing and downloading.
-Drywall allows users to Blur, reset and align their current wallpaper.
-Content is updated over the air
Enjoy!

So I've not had a Samsung device since the S5, is it normal that I can't have a live wallpaper from an app (Let's say liveloop) on the lockscreen and a static wallpaper as the homescreen, as far as I've tried when I set a live wallpaper and then set a static one for the home screen the lock screen wallpaper changes to the default one
Any way to get past this?
Well, they are not called live wallpapers anymore. Just called video wallpapers. I use one of the ones that come with the phone and have a static picture on my home screen. Works just fine. I have tried other video wallpapers, but could not find one I liked any better then the one it came with. You can use the theming to get wallpapers, but it will usually change a lot of other things you may not want changed. I did use theming to be able to grab a wallpaper I wanted. Revert to default and then change to the wallpaper I wanted. Good luck.

My only problem is I don't want to use a video wallpaper, if I want to use a live wallpaper from an app like Walloop I can't have it just on my lockscreen, it has to be both
Not familiar with that app, but I am an old fart that really does not do too much messing with my setup any more. Sorry. Good luck.
Yes the phone supports Live wallpapers on the lockscreen. In wallpapers and style click on my wallpapers then on the 3 dots.
How to
Install the live wallpaper app, then go to my wallpapers the three dot menu and select live wallpapers and will open where you can select the wallpapers you have installed, you can apply as lock screen and homescreen or homescreen only.
