Hi,
I got the Huawei Ascend G525 as a gift from brother in law living in china, and now I am in a bind that it does not have the google play, i installed it using the apk file for google play but the whole UI is in Chinese settings , and the usual Chinese OS version issues for english user >_< , I managed to find and download German firmware (sorry forgot the link to post where it was) and tried to install it but the update failed. Further research led me to believe that i have to unlock its bootloader and I tried to use the method on huawei site (using adb toolkit) but for that i need bootloader unlock key and the site options to get key from huawei does not have G525 in list, so I am back to square one, Please let me know how i can unlock bootloader of Huawei G525 and if there is a new firmware I can use or something like flashing phone rom with Odin (I did flash my galaxy tab 2.0 with odin with new UK firmware)
The Android version is 4.1.2
and firmware file name, i download is Ascend_G525_firmwareú G525-U00,Android 4.1,Emotion_UI,G525-U00 V100R001C00B188,West_Europe
my mobile current firmware is G525-U00V100R001CHNC00B180
Please any help will be useful.

If you tell me the block name of recovery I will make backup for you
Until I´m not 100% sure which block it is I will not replace stock recovery against cwmr.

I don't know how to determine the block name my handset's recovery... how do I know that? Thanks...
my fear is, that we both have problems for flashing.
The unlock code for the bootloader you can get from huawei directly.
I tried this on my European version, but this will not be offered from Huwaei ( only chinese versions).
So I´m still not able to flash chinese Rom (b191) or any other Miui or Lewa Rom ,...
I also confirm the lack of bootloader unlock request in Huawei's website.
What did you do to get the bootloader unlock code? Did you send an e-mail? Where?
I also find myself in a dead end, because I try to get a backup of the current ROM in the phone, connect succesfully through adb (downloaded drivers from here ) however following instructions from here:I can not connect the device with "fastboot devices" (i get to Huawei Device devices in windows device manager with yellow exlamation mark and the phone has been booted in a pink background, i think this is the bootloader mode because I have done it with all three buttons, power, vol+, vol-). Do you think this is a locked bootloader problem?
Late reply and updates
Hi,
Sorry for not following post, (i think i accidently turned off the option to inform me of new replies via email)
I tried emailing to both the german support email and the chinese, chinese support email gave me no reply even though i mailed them 3 times, but german one did and said that my phone is from china so they can't provide any support,
I tried to talk to them on facebook and local Huawei support center, facebook, no help, though someone else was willing to him and thanks to him poiting to way how to install english super use i am able to see almost all system messages in english, and as for the local support, since its not launched here they said they can't do anything,
The problem at hand was that it was not launched any where else, so no english version firmware i could find,
I almost bricked phone when i played with the "sorry forgot name" sytem file where it said to include the contact mismatch to 10 so that i can see the contacts name in the messages (its from china so least match is 11) and thanks to my luck i was able to upgrade firmware to b191 from b180 on 3rd try and since then i am scary cat to do anything with phone,
and now i read that its being launched in UAE, so looking forward if they put new firmware download on english website, (hoping they dont wait for an update to put it on website and put the current stock one)
please update me if you can get your hands on new english firmware , ty

I send a short Email to [email protected] asking for the unlock code on saturday 7-12-2013.
Dear sir/madam,
I tried applying for a bootloader unlock code at unlock url which I cannot post because of XDA forum restricting me, but my device (Ascend G525) was not listed. I supply the data via this mail in the hope to get a bootloader unlock code via this way instead.

That's the good news, the bad news is that as far as connecting to my device I got as far as you got. As I'm on Ubuntu 13.04 64bit I added the usb rule needed for Huawei devices. It shows up when I execute "./adb devices". When I boot into hboot/fastboot mode by pressing the volume buttons and the on button I get the pink screen, but it does not show up when I run "./fastboot devices".
Anybody who knows how I can get fastboot to connect to a Huawei G525?
---------- Post added at 03:58 PM ---------- Previous post was at 03:09 PM ----------
My bad, I thought I was starting the device in fastboot mode, but the pink screen denotes the download mode. I looked up the instructions to start the device into fastboot mode at sigmakey[dot]com. The complete list of steps that I followed were
Remove battery for >= 10 seconds
replace the battery
hold volume down and power button
when the screen locks on the Huawei logo you're in fastboot mode
connect the device via USB
run:" fastboot devices" and see if it's listed
run: "fastboot oem unlock [unlockcode]"
HUAWEI ASCEND G525 bootlock?
Got my phone 6 days ago. Rooted it.
Third day I messed it up by deleting languages (stupid, but selected them with a cleaner & removal tool).
I formatted a micro sd card, downloaded original firmware, started up in the installation mode but while busy unpacking, "installation failed".
Is it because of a bootlock? or is it something else.
Is there an boot unlocker for download for the G525? The phone doesn't start up, so I can only work out of the boot menu or sd card.
All tips are welcome.
try again

Where did you buy your phone from? Mine is from china , the bootunlocker is required to install custom rom (what i came to conclusion, from forums etc, corrsct me if it isn't the case), or rom other than compatible one, my has CHN in its firmware name and the firmware from chinese sites can only be used to update chinese firmware, i wanted to install the german firware for google play(now i achv through apk) and msg and phone number string match(Still found no soluton for it).
Now coming to your issue, i accidently deleted a system file too and phone won't start, so i downloaded firmware , copied the update folder as instructed in the pdf with it, but installation failed, being desperate, i tried again and again , and it would fail some point during extraction, but then on 6th or 7th attempt the file went threw, so either take your phone to support center best solution i would say, or try installing it a few times, try using a different sd card with better speed, but sorry cannot give a conclusive solution. ( Haven't messed with phone again )

Thanks!!!
I live - and bought mine - in Holland (the Netherlands).
I downloaded firmware too but when in download mode and with SD card in, the update stops ("Update failed").
How did your rom/firmware come trough? By updating from sd card or by downloading update directly from sd card?
Which firmware or rom did you download?
Ask Huawei support center
Hi,
First is there no support center for Huawei in your area ? In my case i got the mobile as gift from china and since this model G525 is not launched in my country, the support center refused on any support regarding firmware, so i went to chinese site http://consumer.huawei.com/cn/ and got the firmware from there, my previous firmware was B180 and then i updated it to B191 (currently available on china site).
Second where did you download the firmware from ? Because when i was trying to install the firmware from europe or us etc, (main reason the contacts least string match issue) , i could not find any firmware file on those sites, i went through all the sites, I even emailed german support , and they refused that they don't have any firmware, duh, because my mobile IMEI was not in their data base , (no ****), i do manage to find one posted by someone while going throw forums, but it failed to install, which lead me to believe i need bootunlock code
As for the update is concerned, I am not sure what are you asking about updating from SD card or downloading from SD card ? The only method Huawei G525 have is to download file to computer, extract it, put the update folder in the formatted sd card and then start the phone with volume keys so it start downloading file from sd card and then update firmware. Even the option from the settings to update firmware requires the same, just that , phone start itself in download mode and start the same process.
Like i said i don't have a specific answer why the update is failing, but most probably because the firmware you are trying to install does not support the current you have, I don't know why the hell they would put a restriction in update package to lock down it with previous firmware region. Since you might not know which firmware you previously had the new one might not support the old version, like B191 requires to have B182 or higher version, (wtf) mine came with B180, and there is no B182 or higher available for download, so it could be your phone has old firmware, not supported by current, so all i can say is better take it to customer service, and ask them for help,
and the method i mentioned is was just hit and trial, i was just desperate, so i kept phone pushing to update it.
Let me know if you find any better solution or how to install other firmwares

hi all!
i have been lurking around XDA for years, and until taday I have always managed to find solutions to probs with my android devices...like I said... until today
Yesterday I have been given a Honor 6 H60-L12 device stuck in bootloop.
I only have been told that it has failed and update from emui 3.1 to emui 4, "stuck at 5%" (on 3 button flash i suppose)
I do not have any other information.
I can access recovery and bootloader.
I tried to flash a EMUI 3.0 on 3button flash, but it doesn't even access the 3B update interface, while it does access it (screen with a red exclamation mark) if no microsd is in use
Bootloader is locked and i obviously can't access the system to retrieve the codes necessary to request an unlock password.
My question to Honor 6 gurus here : is the phone gone for good ?!
If you have the box now, it can have the necessary infos you need

not quite..
there can be 3 possible scenes
1. you can find all the info needed for requesting unlock code
or you can use an app for pc (something called DC unlocker) which can unlock your phone without unlock code
2.try with another sd card (assuming that somehow sdcard has formatted and could not be used again for the purpose) , I know, sounds silly, but giving a try doesn't cost you anything
3. I think, during the update process, phone has copied the information from emui 4, and somehow aborted the installation, (most probably due to a faulty download), so phone recognizes itself as a marshmallow bootloader, so it might be wise to first flash a rollback package to emui 3 and then flash emui3 (freshly downloaded is recomemded)
or
you can try flash emui4 again, newly downloaded and extracted to any other sd card
if these three cant help it, then its the service center
and even that cannot help it
PHONE IS GONE FOR GOOD
HOPE I MADE SOME SENSE :fingers-crossed:, ALL THE BEST :good:.. PING ME HERE IF YOU HAVE ANY DOUBTS, first option has the highest success rate

thank you very much thilak for you suggestions, i was going to pay the 4 euros needed to unlock using DC unlocker, when i tried, one last time, using a different version of the emui 3.1: same name of the pevious one (H60_EMUI3.1_Android5.1_6.1.1) but this one was almost 2 Gb while the other one was like 1.2 Gb... I installed it with the 3 buttons reset and it worked like a charm!

After putting my FRP-stuck T-Mobile V20 away for a couple months, I was unfortunately surprised to learn that very little public progress has been made on the subject since my last give-up. I dedicated the last day to trying to figure out FRP bypass for my LG V20, and upon re-researching, I have...
1. Managed to downgrade my V20 to H91810j, though this version still has all exploits patched to get through FRP (to my knowledge).
2. Upon further research, I concluded that what I need is to successfully downgrade to H91810d, as it's the only pre-December 2016 update available (pre-December updates have un-patched exploits to be able to get into the phone). Unfortunately, this update was the one released on the phones stock from the factory, which made it next to impossible to find a KDZ file as they were't "pushed" to the general public.
3. Through researching countless other threads, I've come across this link (I can't share as I still haven't posted 10 times, can DM if needed for reference) which appears to be the closest possible file to the needed H91810d, except the download is a .ZIP that contains Boot.img and Modem.img, which I'm not familiar with using, and no .KDZ file.
4. Further research concluded that I could TWRP-push these files to a TWRP unlocked device, but because of the locked FRP, such a thing isn't possible. My last and final method (which I will try tomorrow as it's 8 AM and i've been trying to get this damned phone unlocked for hours and need sleep) will be one recommended on another forum, which is to downgrade, reset the phone, upgrade, reset the phone, and continue on until FRP is no longer on the device.
Researching into other devices proves that it's definitely possible, though the V20 (especially the H918 model at that) seems to have far less information available towards achieving this. After giving a selection of paid services a look as well, the majority didn't have the ability to unlock the V20 either, which makes me question what the V20 is doing differently from other devices. If anybody has any information that could help me or the community in the matter, please let me know!

Well for those trying, I have a phone on H91810q, and the above process (hardreset link) does not work. when getting to the step to allow unsigned binaries it will not toggle. I tried a few other approaches that might get USB enabled (e.g. via LDB in SVC mode, but it also failed to toggle).
Does any know if you can downgrade an FRP locked phone without USB enabled? e.g. using the process described in the thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/v20/how-to/step-step-guide-lg-v20-h918-unlocking-t3808258
Asking before I have to go find a windows box and spend an hour or so trying, in vain, if it is not possible.

Have you tried downgrading to h91810p first? H91810q might be patched as not to allow this method. Both h91810p & q are ARB1 so you CAN roll back before proceeding
Sent from my LG-H918 using XDA Labs
I should also add that I used the method with Bluetooth earpiece. & comp method-
Greetings, ever since i tried rooting my phone, i knew something went wrong (i used cf autoroot).
So the first thing i noticed, i was asked to reset the phone or something similar to that, meaning i would lose all my data.
I tried to find a workaround as this had never happened to me before while rooting a phone, and someone had said that i was supposed to download twrp
and change some partition and then change it back. I dont remember what else he mentioned and what exactly i tried doing, i realised it was formatted either way and i had to start fresh. As i setup my phone i went and switched the oem unlock back to "off", as i did not wanna attempt to root again, but i hadn't realised that my phone was infact rooted sucessfully, leading me to my first error after restarting. "Custom binary blocked by frp lock", with absolutely no access to recovery mode at all anymore. Again, trying to find a workaround, i download some stockfirmware that i atleast had hoped was the right one for my phone, after a couple failed attempts of flashing with odin, ( i had gotten various different error messeges on download mode screen such as (REV Check fail device 7 binary 0 and others witch i cannot remember), now im getting a new error screen, stating that an error has occured while updating the device software. I cant flash twrp recovery as the frp lock is on, and the only thing i can guess is that im flashing the wrong firmware, but i cant find a matching code at all.
Its the following: sm-g930fzkadbt
IMEI: 35214310282955
on the back of the phone it says uk yateley, although the phone was purchased in germany.
Im not sure what to do anymore, any advice would be greatly appreciated.
PS: I have managed to get back to the old error screen with the custom binary info, this time with bootloop, by checking the deviceinfo box on odin
Yep you've now learned the hard way not to mess about and read the proper guides.
Anyway "dbt" is just unbranded german firmware. Download UK "BTU" and flash with Odin, it's UK unbranded.
FRP lock means you'll need to unlock the phone with the google account and password that was on it before you started messing about with it.
If you don't know the google email and password you need to read up on how to bypass FRP lock and it's a nightmare.

Thanks for your reply, just a question, will any btu update work? Should i download latest android version btu firmware?
(Also yes, it was stupid of me to try and do it quick but i had rooted 3 different samsung galaxy phones in the past without issues, either i did something wrong or it took something way too specific to do the job, perhaps the phone's unrootable, but thank you either way) :fingers-crossed:

You'll likely only find the last version of BTU think it was August 2019. It isn't updated officially anymore but it'll be fine to use.

OK so i thought it worked but i can only enter recovery mode now and download mode, but cant actually boot the system, it just boots up the battery screen whenever i plug the charger, and never shows the actual battery info, just the thunder icon. Formatting from recovery mode doesn't help either (Note whenever i launch recovery mode it says installing update, then says no command and brings me to the recovery menu) Any ideas?
PS: It fixed itself. Sorry for the pointless edit.
In case I get another phone with the latest RETUS OTA and run into the same problem where the phone will not accept the Unlock Code sent by Motorola. "FAILED (remote error)" every time. I don't know if this new OTA is the problem, or if the phone I received had a hardware or firmware problem. I posted here about that problem 2 days ago, so the history is in that thread. TIA . . .

SOLVED. Rollback from 40-95-9 to 40-95-6 --CANNOT-- be done. Anti-rollback "protection" prevents the 95-6 version of bootloader.img from being flashed.
NOTE: Trying to flash older firmware wipes the existing firmware, so attempting to do this will leave you with a systemless phone. If you insist on trying it yourself, BE SURE TO HAVE A COPY OF YOUR CURRENT (OR NEWER) FIRMWARE on hand.
According to my notes, at some point when I was doing OTA updates I did end up with 40-95-9; however, I suspect this update occurred after I unlocked the device. Hence, when I rolled back to the Feb version, I did not run into issues.
That said, I would NOT attempt to roll back with a stock bootloader locked device. You (likely) may run into motorola's implementation of Androids roll back protection which will prevent the device from booting. Without the 40-95-9 firmware file, I don't think it will be easy to get back to a working device. i.e. some form of blank flashing will be necessary. You might be able to recover from this, but I think it will be a headache.
Hopefully someone else will respond with some better advice/info for you.
HTH
EDIT you wrote in your other thread:
I should probably stress, I flashed the entire firmware with no problems at all.

but I'm not sure what you flashed. I doubt it was an older version. If you have the 40-95-9 firmware file, you might be ok to try. Just be aware you could end up with a device that is at best difficult if not impossible to unbrick.
Before flashing anything, be sure to allow OEM unlocking from developer options and get your unlock code from motorola's www site as you did previously.
Even tho it will soft brick the device, I'd flash everything from an older version. Reboot to the now hopefully older bootloader (you can check what bootloader is running with `fastboot getvar all`). If you end up with the red "No valid operating system" screen, just simultaneously hold down the power and volume down buttons until you get back to the bootloader. Assuming you can get into the bootloader (I'm not 100% cerntain that you can) from there you may be able to unlock or at least re-flash the 40-95-9 firmware to recover.
Note I have not attempted this so I can't say this will work. It's just what I would try in this situation if I didn't care about the time spent trying to recover or permanently bricking the device.
Good luck and I hope you don't have to try it.
It's just too hard to guess what might happen with the new arrangement of partitions in Android 10. I've rescued a couple of soft-bricks (Moto and Samsung believe it or not) but they were cheaper or just older. I'd rather not risk hard-bricking a phone after just shelling out $170-200 for it. (That's Swappa prices, everywere else is another $100 or so.) On older partitioning an unlocked bootloader wouldn't have made any difference in whether rollback worked or not. It was (pretty much) all about matching up bootloader versions (or digital signing for locked bootloader etc). Rollback would either work or it wouldn't.
Right now I'm trying to find a phone with something prior to 95-9 firmware. If I can't find that, I think I'll just try to talk my lady into a slightly smaller phone. She's been spoiled by the newer 6.7-6.8" phablets. I hate them myself, but this is not for me.
Thanks a bunch for trying to help.

Forgot to say, I was explaining in the other thread that I had downloaded 95-9 via Lenovo's Rescue and Smart Assistant right off the bat, so I would have that for backup just in case. I did end up flashing it (the old-fashioned way, with a couple dozen fastboot commands) to see if maybe that would fix any possible glitch in the firmware. Also after trying to unlock a few more times, I reconnected to Rescue and Smart Assistant and actually ran the whole rescue deal, thus flashing 95-9 one more time.
I had also downloaded 95-6 from lolinet but didn't get the nerve to try flashing it. Android 10 on this phone is just too weird. Last year I unlocked and Magisk-rooted a Moto G Stylus 2021 on Android 10 with never a hint of a problem anywhere.
NOPE, this cannot be done. See bottom of my first post.
