Is it possible to backup my S10e home screen apps layoutcto Google? - Samsung Galaxy S10e Questions & Answers

1. I'm wondering if it's possible to backup my entire home screen apps layout as well as all the apps that I have on my phone including the current settings in use to Google cloud. Is this possible? If yes, how?
2. If Google isn't a possibility, could I back everything up to Samsung Cloud?
3. If I then buy another phone such as the S21, where would I restore my data from? Google or Samsung?? Would I be given options to restore from both??

What's up with Google Backup

Hey all!
So I've set Google Backup on and left it to sync for 24 hours, then signed out, side loaded the Nougat OTA, reset and erase and wiped the cache partition, then signed back in and no settings nor apps or anything downloaded even though I asked Google setup to pull from a backup.
I'll be rooting the Nexus 6P soon, but for non rooted handsets, what are people using to backup and restore? Or what methods if they're just using the Google Backup sync process?

What gets backed up with Android Backup Service
Google Calendar settings
Wi-Fi networks & passwords
Home screen wallpapers
Gmail settings
Apps installed through Google Play (backed up on the Play Store app)
Display settings (Brightness & Sleep)
Language & Input settings
Date & Time
Third-party app settings & data (varies by app)
From this I can say that none of your app data (e.g. game data) is backed up and none of your apps are too, instead a list is created so that when you set up your device you can choose to download your apps again.

Thanks so much Nandini!
Do you know how long this "backup" should take, assuming spmeone has a good conndction?
Google gives facility to backup your photos and videos easily, now users can backup their important data as well as automatically synchronize with storage data.

Possible to get the Pixel sms backup on other phones? (Google Drive app data)

On Pixel phones, there's a new backup and restore option which includes sms.
Even though I have Android 7.1 on my Nexus 5X, I don't have this feature. It seems to be a Pixel exclusive for now. However, it should be possible to replicate it somehow I think. Could this be part of Google Play services - or Google Drive, where we lately saw some new backup options in the hamburger menu and settings menu? I'm not rooted, but I still have my hopes up this piece of functionality could be activated on other phones. Did someone look into this?
As an example, we have a backup solution for call history and blocked numbers. It's been there for a few Android versions. The sms functionality seems to be very similar to those. Can't someone find out if it's done through Drive, Play services or some system component, and then begin experimenting?
Otherwise, if we can't replicate the Pixel functionality, then could something similar be built using the Google Drive app data backup? Sms backup apps typically have a solution of their own, such as file export, Gmail import or creating a folder in Google Drive. But what if my sms messages could be backed up as app data instead (from a homemade app, released to the play store for this purpose), using the Google Drive app data backup tool? Could someone write an app for that? Or are there limitations, perhaps the sms container on the phone can't be reached in that way?
I'm curious about what you have to say about this!
EDIT:
To clarify, I know there are many good backup solutions out there. What I'm asking for, is to have that task done as natively as possible in the OS. That's why I'm curious about the things above! Cheers

Backup Gear S3 to pc, not Samsung cloud

As the title says, I want to backup my Gear S3 to the pc instead of Samsung cloud. Cloud storage is not accessible to the user directly and can inconveniently go down and I'd rather have control of data, apps, watchfaces instead of where I am forced to now.

when you make a backup, does it not store to the phone as default?
All backups to cloud only

I don't know if it's typical of non samsung phones but the backup mechanism in the Gear software only allows me to backup to Samsung's cloud and there no other choice available to me. (That I can see anywhere)

Best way to backup and restore everything on Android phone

Hi All,
What is the best app or way to backup and restore everything on Android phone - similar to the easy way iOS have with having the phone automatically maintain an iCloud security backup and then if getting a new device or factory resetting the current device, then simply restore the iPad or iPhone using the online iCloud security backup - nice and easy with all apps, settings, data, pictures, etc.
I never owned an iOS device myself, always been on Android, but every time I got a new phone or simply wanted to factory reset and create a fresh phone again, then I did all the apps installations manually and went in manually to configure email account, calendar and other personal settings and logins for each apps that I have, fingerprints etc.
How can I make this easy and in the best way to save days of time to configure a brand-new phone from scratch - like iCloud security backup does or like a Windows PC can have a mirror image created to restore everything back to how I want to start from?
Many thanks in advance!
Very often phone manufacturers provide an application to transfer everything from another device to a new one.
For example, the app from Samsung is:
Samsung Smart Switch Mobile - Apps on Google Play
If you can't download, you can open Smart Switch from device's Settings menu
play.google.com

Quota and Functionality Questions related to Device Backup

I am confused about inconsistences between Device Backup on two different Pixel phones:
On my old Pixel phone, the Backup app says the backup will use Google One storage, so I do not have it turned on.
On my new Pixel phone, the Backup app doesn't mention Google One. In fact, it explicitly states that the device backup will not count towards "Drive" storage.
I'm not sure the new Pixel phone is fully patched (just took it out of the box) so it's possible the software hasn't been updated to reflect the Google One service.
I have the following questions:
Does the device backup count towards a Google storage quota or not?
Is there a difference between Google One and Google Drive?
On both devices, the device backup states that the information is encrypted before being uploaded, but it is not clear whether the backup is inaccessible by Google (can Google decrypt the backup)?
The device backup states that it will backup: apps, app data, call history, contacts, device settings (including Wifi passwords) and SMS & MMS messages. How do I restore these things on the new phone if I back them up on the old phone first?
Can I selectively restore apps and app data for only a few apps? There are some apps that are device-specific (e.g. Syncthing) where I don't want to necessarily restore the settings and app data associated with that app, because my shared folders will be located in a different place on the new phone. I would rather set up from scratch and establish my new folder locations, then allow the files to sync through Syncthing.
Thanks for any answers you can provide to these questions.
I would also welcome links to resources that explain how this works, especially vis-à-vis the new Google One branding.
