How can I save a rtsp url on MXPlayer as favourite? - MX Player

Hi, I'm having a strange problem on MX player for Android TV, I typed an rtsp url (working) but I'm not able to save it (!), can't add to favourites, can't save it as m3u and open it opening the m3u file.
Nobody thought here to add a way to save an url? Shoudl I type it manually each time? urgh..

I hope someone may help me understand, thanks

anyone can help here? thanks

- any working playlist file format?
- any way to create an icon that may open MXplayer with url as parameter?

What happens when you try to open the url via browser?

Hi, I?m glad somebody answered me, I've tried to contact MX player's develpments in all ways possible.
SIncerely I don't understand the question, why this shoudl be useful? Browser is not supposed to open an rtsp:// url..
I'm looking for a way to add URL to MX Player favouires (to open it quickly) or open a playlist file containgin rtsp that MX can support.
Thans for answering me

I ask because if your browser is able to bind the MIME type/protocol to an application of your choosing — and assuming MX Player shows up as an available option to default to — then at the very least you could save it as a bookmark, with which you can then create a widget. This doesn't give in-app access, but it beats having to type in the address at least? You can also utilize some other application that gives an overlay button, or perhaps bind to a hardkey/hotkey/quick settings tile? Just some ideas off the top of my head. Good luck!

Hi, thanks for your kind help, I'm not sure I understood perfectly you message, are you suggesting the browser as the only way to open Mx player as embedded with the URL? ANd the second part of message is about create a shortcut/widget/overlay button on the home to start browser with that favourite/url to open enbedded MX Player?
Looks a bit complicated but maybe I can try.. which browser can do that?
PS: I still shocked MX Player doesn't give any support to playlist neither save favourites..

MMS (Media Player stream) shortcut - Help

Hello all.
I am trying to get some of my favorite local radio stations internet streams onto my phone. I got an URL sniffer and have been able to get Windows Media Player to play the MMS source on the stations that I want. In other words ... it is working.
What I am trying to do now is get a shortcut for the MMS link that will open the stream without me having to open Windows Media manually and then opening the URL. Everytime I create a shortcut, it creates an internet shortcut, which uses Internet Explorer. I have tried redirecting the shortcut to open with Media Player using GSFinder, and that still is not working.
Anybody have any suggestions to getting this to work.
mms://a1926.l2187545925.c21875.g.lm.akamaistream.net/D/1926/21875/v0001/reflector:45925
Above is the radio station address that I am trying to stream. I am not particular to any program ... all I want is to click on the shortcut and have the program self launch/play. Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks,
Kangle

what you're looking for is called an .ASX file.
it's basically a shortcut file for windows media streams.
look it up and make one yourself.
have fun
Sorry to bring an old thread up...but I found this very useful!
There are a lot of applications like WebTv, DiamondTV, but it is very simple.
Just make your own asx file, and click on it...voila WM or Coreplayer or any other player starts up and plays the stream. Light, easy.
here is a guide how to create the asx file:
To create an ASX metafile, open a text editor such as Notepad and enter the following text (substituting your own stream for stream):
<ASX version="3">
<Entry>
<ref href="stream" />
</Entry>
</ASX>
Save the text as an ASX file. Replace stream with your actual stream.
Click the ASX file to test it. Your media player should open and play the media file.
Nice
Finally, This post is really useful.
A post is never too old. You have completed it with essential informations.
Thanks! It's exactly what I was searching for.

1, welcome to xda-dev
2, always search the Wiki first when you have a question. Your answer is at http://wiki.xda-developers.com/inde...nt (RealAudio and RealVideo) on my Pocket PC?
hello sir.
thnx for the response.
the problem is a bit different from what i think you have perceived.
i'm able to play the streaming video (rtsp) if i put the url "rtsp://xyz" directly in the player itself.(i'm using platform4 player). so that means the network is not the problem.
when i click on the link in web page (that contains the url "rtsp://xyz")....it opens the windows media player(which is obviously unable to open rtsp stream).....
what i want is, on clicking the link, instead of opening windows media player i want it to open platform 4 player..
i hope i'm clear enough.
thanks again

[Q] Starting a network stream in MX Player from HTML

I'm in the middle of this project and need to be able to start MX player with varying TV feeds from HTML.
I'm using the Surefox browser, which has a javascript api allowing app launching. I am able to launch the MX Player with the following javascript:
window.surefox.launch('com.mxtech.videoplayer.ad'), but I need to be able to tell the launch activity that the video stream I want it to start is
Video feed address is 172.23.10.253:9981/stream/channelid/41?ticket=40FDCFBF0031EEAAF41F3A69A4BABEB3223A902C&mux=matroska&transcode=1&resolution=288&acodec=AAC&vcodec=H264&scodec=NONE
If I simply redirect to this URL, it attempts to download the stream. I'm assuming it is not recognising that it is a video feed.
Any suggestions would be appreciated.

[Q] Why doesn't the Network Stream option save a list of previous streams?

MX Player is one of the simplest and most elegant players I have ever used. However, it baffles me that I have to keep searching on the internet for streams that I've already viewed (e.g. if I want to watch a speech again, I have to find the link all over again as it only stores the last viewed stream link). MX Player should keep a list of previously viewed streams. This would really help us!
I thought that when you have the network stream popup open with no text entered, it shows a list of most recent entries? I get this.
You're right, I get that too. But, it's not intuitive. MX Player has always been intuitive, except here.
Suppose I have a bunch of video links that look like:
//r3---sn-vgqsenek.googlevideo.com/videoplayback?requiressl=yes&shardbypass=yes&cmbypass=yes&id=c2672f2fb5e&itag=22&ipbits=0&expire=1431044482&sparams=cmbypass,expire,id,ip,ipbits,itag,mm,ms,mv,nh,pl,requiressl,shardbypass,source&signature=7731E43598E560ECFA73803FEBC928282F&key=cms1&cms_redirect=yes&mm=31&ms=au&mt=1428859066&mv=m&nh=IgxMjcuMCLjE&pl=18
Hard to tell them apart. Thus, a way to create a list of streams would be very helpful.
Agree with you
It will be very helpful if MX player has the option that save the list of Network Stream.
Thanks!
@ajr1 @fulmind
Actually it won't work for most of the streaming links. For example the above given link is temporary. Once the session expires you cannot stream the same link. You will get only error. It's same with most of the streaming sites. They use session to avoid hot linking of any video file.

[Feature Request] Repeat by default and play folder content (via intents)

I am trying to automate video playing and I have two things I would like to have in MX Player:
- Be able to specify folders via Android intents and play all contents (like VLC for Android supports)
- Repeat the content by default (introduce a setting to repeat by default perhaps)
Thank you kindly in advance.

By Default, MX Player will play all the files in the same folder. If you are facing any issues, please provide us with more information so that we can assist you better.

I work with completely unattended and automated devices. The file names change periodically. They are downloaded via Google Drive. This is why I can not launch MX Player with a file name.
VLC allows me to target folders to launch with but currently does not remember the repeat option.
This is why I am hoping for MX Player to maybe implement "playing folders" and permanent repeat option (either via Android intent, or a permanent setting).

Thanks for the details.
Unfortunately, MX Player doesn't support playback of folders at the moment. However, we will share this with our development team for further review.

Could you also consider a permanent repeat option? That stays forever until the user decides to disable it again?
