Question is internal storage accessible via PC (after flashing a custom rom) - Xiaomi Poco X3 Pro

Hi, I have a question.
I read/heard that TWRP does not support accessing the internal storage via PC while in TWRP.
I want to ask if, after replacing recovery with TWRP and fflashing a crdroid rom, will we be able to access the internal storage via PC (i back up my files on PC, to copy back to phone after flashing)

No idea what are you talking about, you can normally access it

[Q] SD Card required for update/install?

Hi folks,
I might have a stupid noob question, but not able to find the answer.
I got a Motorola Xoom (EU), and I did root it the other day.
All working fine.
Now I get update notifications for 3.1, but I'm not able to install the stock update.
After the reboot, the Android logo is showing an error, and then it reboots to normal OS.
Now the question is, all instructions I found so far require an external SD Card to get a custom rom with 3.1/3.2 installed.
Is a SD card required, or can I get the same done via USB debug?
Thanks for looking at this thread.
Regards,
derchris

You need a custom version of ClockworkMod Recovery made for the Xoom. You can flash the solarnz R4c v3.2.0.0 that does require a micro sdcard (even a 2GB is fine) which will appear at mnt/external1, or you can go with Rogue recovery that will let you flash from internal storage (mnt/sdcard) or other options. It's up to you but you must be able to flash the recovery image file through adb/fastboot, since you can't flash a zip file through fastboot.
Thanks for the reply,
I used this thread to install recovery-Tiamat-R4c-100611-1150-cwm.img, as they had a recovery image file for adb/fastboot.
Looking through the options, I see a "mount USB storage" option, but I ended up in only having a 3 MB drive, and as soon as I exited the menu the drive was gone too.
Do you happen to know a download for an adb/fastboot image of the Rogue Recovery?
I don't have a single SD Card, thats why I would like to use USB or internal memory.

You would have to go to that thread and see if there is an option for initial install via img file. I haven't used Rogue, so I don't know.
I figured it out myself
There was an img file inside the zip, which I was able to flash to the Xoom.
Next I used Tiamat Xoom Rom 2.2.2 "Moray" from the internal memory, and have now 3.2.1 on my Xoom.
Thanks for the help
My pleasure.

-HELP- flashed CM9 over the sd card....USB not working!!! -HELP-

So as you have seen from the title i flashed the rom over the sd card instead of the internal storage,so now i can't connect my phone to the computer to change the baseband, and i can't flash the original rom either, when i tried to restore trought the backup file, android as buggy as it is automatically selectet the "BACKUP" option and created a new backup with ICS ,so this is my dillema (i can't connect i to the pc to change the baseband and i can't flash the original rom),can anyone pls help me?my phone isnt even one and a half years old,
THANKS IN ADVANCE!!!!!!!!!
Flashing a ROM over the SDcard is not possible.
The computer just hasn't installed the drivers. Search for adequate USB drivers and it will work
it recognizes the sd,but when i remove the sd card and connect the usb cable it says that a phone is connected, but it doesn't recognize the internal storage

That's a feature for not allowing people who don't know what they are doing to mess up the OS.
If you want to modify apps on the internal memory use titanium backup or a file manager with root acces
so thgat's why even when i go into recovery th the pc doesn't recognize it?
What is the connection between recovery, ics , pc. Basically what are you trying to do??
As thatnextdoorboy said.. search and install new usb drivers to pc.
You cant access internal memory.. so dont think about it. You can use only Sdcard for storage.
First search for BBFIX patch in this forum.. "store" it in sdcard.. go to recovery and flash it.
Second read all the threads here about upgrading baseband.. and dont do it till you are sure of what you are doing!!

Fully Wipe internal Storage and flash new Rom from Pc

Hey guys, I just wanted to know if there is any way by which I could completely wipe the internal memory and flash a rom, kernel etc straight from the PC through USB? Also If someone could recommend a Rom and gapps (xposed user) it would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

Edit : I don't necessarily have to flash from the PC, I just want to completely wipe the Internal memory before flashing a new Rom coz of viruses. Thank you

You have that option on Twrp.
Wipe -> Advanced -> Choose all partitions including internal storage
If you to Instal new rom from PC, you have to use fastboot but you can use USB otg to

But if I choose Internal storage from TWRP won't the rom and gapps get erased too?

Well yes that would happen, you'd delete the files you put on the internal storage so, when you do the "full" wipe in TWRP using the Advanced wipe option, select everything except the internal storage which will leave those files located there intact.

I understand but I want to wipe the internal storage too , is there a way for me to flash the files from the PC through recovery?

No, there's not really much you can do at that point since you'd be cleaning out any content there you'd need to redo the phone back to a functional state. The only types of ROMs you can flash directly in fastboot mode are pretty much the factory CyanogenOS ones from what I can tell, those are the only ones provided as actual partition images, the rest are designed to be installed through recovery, even OxygenOS comes in a recovery flashable form (the last one for the OPO, 2.1.4).
Well there's one possible way: using an OTG USB stick with the ROM files on that, it might work but I can't say for certain it will. You could do the full wipe including the internal storage, use the file manager in TWRP to copy the ROM from the OTG USB stick back to internal storage then flash, maybe.
Just put all the files you need on pen drive, wipe all partitions including internal storage, plug pen drive through otg cable and flash everything you need

Android is vulnerable to virus?
I just wipe and transfer the ROM/Gapps/addons from my PC while still in recovery.
This has always worked fine with my Oneplus One. My Note 5 and Galaxy Tab S2 will not be detected by my PC in recovery.
ADB sideload the ROM after erasing the Internal Storage

Thank you. Is there a tool to do that? I remember having a tool to do that for the S3.

euh, Windows explorer?
I don't use a tool at all. I plug in the USB cable, computer goes "pling", I drag and drop files from my computer into the phone's folder and done.
If you can't do this I'm not really even sure where to begin to find out why I can and you can't. Try just, going into recovery, plugging your phone into your computer and seeing what happens?

We cool. Good luck!
You could always just format everything through recovery and then either push or sideload the new rom through adb.

this is the right answer
I'm surprised people haven't come up with ADB push yet.
Before wiping everything ADB pull the required files.
Wipe everything from the recovery, and while in recovery, ADB push everything you pulled back to the device.
Profit!

Everything that is connected to the internet is vulnerable to virus

Do i have to?

I have an Alcatel One Touch idol 3_50560 AT&T
I do not have access to a desktop computer is there any roms out there that will do everything for you at once i.e. Removing bootloader, Root phone, then installing TWRP . Is it even possible? I uploaded and put the whole system on my tab4, it had no OS when i got it. Just wondering if spmethings out there
It's not possible. You need to install twrp by PC, then you can do everything what you want via twrp.
Is it possible i can download the file to my tablet and sdcard and transfer to my PC when i get to work?
Yes, and you only need to install twrp via PC. Everything another you can just flash by twrp from sdcard (better option than internal storage)

How to completely erase internal storage

Hi, I'd like to install a new ROM , but before that I want to completely erase my internal storage (because it contains alot of junk files and empty/unused folders - and I cannot tell these from the actual useful files&folders in my phone - thus I do not know what I can or cannot delete).
I've already backed up all my important files to my PC/cloud.
The thing is - if I used TWRP to delete internal storage - it would also erase everything else thus leaving my phone ROM-less and bootlooped and then I'll have to push the ROM through fastboot and I dont want to do that,
so my question is:
is it possible to delete internal storage and then proceed to installing a new ROM via TWRP and not fastboot?
thanks.

Erasing the internal storage through Twrp won't erase the twrp itself. You can still connect your device (when in twrp) to Pc and transfer stuff. Thus you can then flash a new rom and also copy anything else you want.
thanks, so what will it delete? everything above the root folder?

it will wipe everything on phone internel memory but system software will remain and twrp,so if u want to flash new rom u will need to put it back on internal memory
