When I trying to use Bluetooth keyboard I can't use any other language language, I already tried:
Removeing the English Settings->Keyboard - >external keyboard. And replance it with any other language
Use SwiftKey and do the same as step 1
Use the Default keyboard in "Input methods"
Change the language (to any other language, also by removing the English layout
Trying "External keyboard helper app" in the play store
any of the following options didn't let me to write even single character in non-English language

No Text Input In WM6

Finally got wm6 installed on my spv c600 after afew grooling hours but there is 1 small problem, i cannot wright any text in sms's etc, just comes up as numbers and theres no options for turning t9 on etc. i added the sp5 packes to windows like the post said but it still wont work.
Any suggestions,
thanks
which wm6 version did you install?
this one http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=321665
Its realy bugging me!
You have to install the t9 pack you want to use to the phone (not storage card) then restart the phone.
Im not very good at this, i dunno how to install or where to get the t9 pack from? :s
Here you go, please use the search function next time
Is there a way to make T9 always the default input method?
In Java machine Jeodek i have to select T9 input each time manually, because it always resets to 'abc' input method.
With xT9 this problem is fixed. Once set to xT9, you always have xT9, but with T9 it's not the same

Default Software Keyboard

I was trying to figure out how to change the default SIP on a WWE ROM with a SIP from another language ROM.
I managed to import the DLLs (msmit.dll in my case) and the correct CLSID reg key, so i can chose the keyboard as an input method.
But if i try to set this as the default imput method the ROM hangs. And that's strange 'cause is used as default IM in the proper language ROMs.
(i know i can use changeSIP but i'm trying to do it without external software)
Anyone has a clue on that?
thx

Problem: Only basic keyboard is selectable on WM6.5. How to select another?

Hello,
I need help with this problem that it is driving me crazy. On my WM6.5 23564 cooked ROM I'm now unable to change from the basic keyboard to the FingerKeyboard that came embeded in the ROM.
I'm not refering to place FingerKeyboard as the default SIP input after boot. I mean really making a normal selection of something other than the basic keyboard.
This functionality used to work fine but some app I installed caused this behaviour. I don't know which app.
www.youtube.com/watch?v=GzNCY2Xkrow
Hoping to solve the problem I tried one at a time (switching the phone off after each try):
- Changing the default SIP input to FingerKeyboard with SK Tools (that toggles it in registry).
- Changing the default SIP input in nueSIPDefault (tool came with ROM) and set time from 10 to 59 seconds.
- Installing another 3rd party keyboard (SlideIt). I was unable to select this one too. Installing FingerKeyboard cab.
- Using SIPChange.CAB recommend on another post about SIP input.
- Using AC_IM_Selector.CAB recommend on another post about SIP input.
- Tried sipswitch.exe from Vijay but I don't know how to use it. When I click on it, it just pops up the basic keyboard.
- Disabling SPB items (wireless monitor, backup, news, time) from appearing on home screen
- And also a tip I saw: 1. Export HKCR\CLSID (will save to a *.reg file) / 2. Del or Rename HKCR\CLSID / 3. Import the backup of HKCR\CLSID / Turn off your device about 15 sec and reset .
None of this worked for me. Ramdonly FingerKeyboard appeared 2 or 3 times, but disappears the same way.
Any idea about a solution to this?
Thanks
Finally I found a workaround that allows me to use other keyboard besides the windows default.
After installing more than 10 keyboards and SIP managing apps I installed EzInput 2.1 QVGA and now it always shows that one. I'm still unable to change to the other installed keyboards like fingerkeyboard or SlideIt, but at least I'm not stuck with only the windows one. Only worked with 2.1. Version 1.5 showed the windows default.
EzInput is far from perfect. I still prefer SlideIt or FingerKeyboard over this one, but I can live with it.
Also tried Biotouch (dll, exe and reg) and it didn't solve the main problem.
...
try these dude:
Show SIP Menu.cab
SIP Change.cab
Sip Config Tool.cab
Rn
Thanks for your suggestion. I tried those but it didn't solve the problem.
"SIP Change.CAB" was one of the tools I mentioned on my first post.
"Sip Config Tool.cab" is not for input methods. It is to configure session initiation protocol. You know... that VoIP protocol, port 5060, registrar, etc.
"Show SIP Menu.cab" doesn't do anything. I searched and it appears to be used to launch a hidden menu in WM6.5 where you can change T9 language. In my phone it didn't launch any menu or added any icon.

Removing Google Zhuyin Input

I have this Google Zhuyin Input preinstalled. I'm not sure if it's a system app or not. Is it safe to uninstall it? I don't want to break my phone.
Yes remove it it's for Chinese language typing.
and how do you get rid of it entirely? I 'disabled' it but I prefer to have it gone!
Anyone? I am interested at this too
EDIT: From what I found, it is a pre-installed language with GBoard and as it is installed into system, you can't remove, only disable it. But it doesn't really changes anything as it still asks for being updated and occupies useless space.
Yes I know that system space is non changeable, but if it was smaller, physical memory could be a bit larger.

External keyboard layout locked to US English

I bought a Teclast M40 Pro tablet to be used with an external keyboard. No problem to set the system language to my language Swedish, but I couldn´t set external keyboard layout to Swedish or any other language. I. e. all the options including this long list of keyboard layouts exist and it looks like everything is set OK, but no settings take effect. The supplier (Banggood) consulted the maker and then confirmed that the tablet was locked to US English layout. But -unbelievably - they also say that is OK and no reason for return. So, is there a workaround or any way to unlock the keyboard layout setting? The tablet runs Android 11.

Thanks for the tip. This one tells you how to add a shortcut to quickly change the language of a virtual keyboard. Unfortunately, it does not address the question how to change the key layout of an external keyboard for a tablet that has been locked to a specific language.

If the device is locked to US, you might need to root the device to modify some system files to make it work.
Try this app, it might make your changes without root.
External Keyboard Helper Pro - Apps on Google Play
Take full control over your external Bluetooth or USB keyboard.

I have already tried it and it can´t change anything, it can only read what keys are pressed, but not communicate anything outside itself
If Settings > System > Languages & input > Physical keyboard really doesn't change things then you'll have to root your device and change stuff in /system/usr.
Have you tried a different language that you're not interested in? Not Swedish, maybe Russian or Persian to see if anything changes?
I was just helping someone who wanted Persian. The language list under Physical keyboard had 40 languages. They all were written correctly except Persian. Selecting Persian gave you fallback to English. I made them a new app with the correct Persian layout that they could load without being rooted.
Hint: You need an app that responds to android.hardware.input.metadata.KEYBOARD_LAYOUTS

Like I said, you may end up having to root the device and then modify some things in system or data partition.
Have you read this? Read every post, they approach this in more than one way.

The language list is VERY long and I have tried quite a few like you suggest, but so far nothing works. I was hoping that there might be a fix or workaround that did not require rooting, but I am beginning to realize there is´nt any such thing.

Yes, rooting is probably required :-(
It could be that they screwed up the language packs completely.
Install this little apk. It has 2 Persian and Russian.
Select the Persian (Arabic) or Persian (Latin) in Settings > System > Languages & input > Physical keyboard
To uninstall afterwards:
Code:
C:\>adb uninstall com.temblast.kbdmaps

Sorry for late response. I installed your apk. The Persian key layouts appeared in the list, but could not change anything more than any other layout.
Sorry. It was worth a try. Apparently the the whole mechanism is broken on your device.
Pointless note: Android did a stupid in that keymaps that are loadable are exactly the same as your garden variety in /system/usr/keychars except:
Code:
type FULL # to be found in /system/usr/keychars
type OVERLAY # to be found in loadable key maps
This causes problem when somebody glibly copies a /system/usr/keychars style keymap to a keyboard collection app.
As the there seems to be no solution, I tried another approach. I found the latest official M40 Pro EEA (M1A1) EEA firmware. It looked to be the same version I already have, but I thought at least it has not been tampered with. I flashed it and yes, it was the identical firmware and unfortunately the external keyboard issue was still there. So, unbelievable as it is, this is the version they are selling now. But worse is still to come. I then decided there was no reason why I couldn´t use the ROW firmware instead of EEA, so I downloaded that one and flashed it. No change!!!
Can any one help me make sense of this. Why is Teclast doing such a thing?
Just to avoid any idea that I don´t know how to use external keyboards, I already own 2 pcs of the older version M40 (Android 10) of the tablet, bought with some time apart and with different firmwares and both work OK with external keyboards.
Hi, I'm not sure if it is the exact same problem, but I reached this post trying to find a solution to a similar issue. I have searched a lot of places and this was the newest thread, so I'll provide the solution I found here in case it can help others.
I have a BMAX MaxPad i10 Pro tablet, Android 11, and I bought an external bluetooth keyboard with spanish layout. When I tried to use the keyboard, keys always works with an english layout, regardless keyboard layout I selected, both when configuring physical bluetooth layout or virtual keyboards layout (GBoard and SwiftKey). I tried several keyboards, even an USB keyboard with an USB type-C connector with the same behaviour, and the problem does not appear when connecting the keyboard to an iPad and to a Xiaomi Mi 8 phone (android 10), so I discard a keyboard issue
In the end, I managed to get it working by disabling the Android Accessibility Suite in the settings, that was enabled in my tablet for no reason.
Maybe this was a particular solution to my case, but all the information I found over there are unresolved questions stuck in explaing how to properly configure and selecting the keyboard layout, and no providing a valid solution.
At least, this is just a clue on something else to try...
Regards,
Álvaro.
