Samsung - how to write new CSC from different model firmware? - General Topics

Hi, not sure if this is in the right place.... there doesn't seem to be a "Samsung General" forum.
Anyway, I've got my hands on the firmware for the AT&T Samsung Galaxy S7 (SM-G930A - snapdragon SoC), and I've extracted the CSC portion of the firmware to my PC. I'm hoping that I can use this CSC to make my Canadian S7 (SM-G930W8 - exynos SoC) compatible with AT&T's VoLTE service.
First, can someone direct me to a suitable guide for making a zip file that I can flash in TWRP to modify a system (rather than a complete system)?
Second, can someone tell me how to figure out what part of the image needs to go into this zip file?

I think I'm starting too big trying to make a zip file. Now I'm thinking that I first just need to figure out how to get a /system/csc/ATT/ folder created and the contents written into it, then figure out how to switch the phone to that CSC instead of the current one. Any suggestions? I'm currently using ALEXNDR's DevBase for the SM-G930F.

[Q] Replacing CSC on SM-N915S

Hi guys,
I have the Korean version of the Note Edge, SM-N915S installed with the latest stock rom (N915SKSU1ANK5).
The device is rooted (CF-Auto-Root), and flashed with CWM Based Recovery 6.0.5.1 .
I also used Aroma Universal Bloatware Remover v1.3 (thank you UpInTheAir) to remove some bloatware.
Now I wish to replace the original CSC (Korean) with a different one that will support my language (iw-IL) as well as my local cellular carriers.
I did succeed to find an Israeli stock rom for the NOTE 4 (N910FXXU1ANK5_N910FOJK1ANK5_ILO) with the "right" CSC.
I opened both roms with the Android Kitchen v0.224 so that now I have access to the CSC directories on both.
My question is:
can I just replace the CSC directory on the EDGE rom with the one on the NOTE 4 rom or is it involved with more than this?
IMPORTANT (or not) - The roms are dealing with 2 different devices with different processors and firmware!
Thanks,
Matty
I doubt you can't do it. As the file structures are (may be) different.

Thanks vndnguyen.
One major question is if all CSC configuration is done in the CSC folder or is it also involving other folders or files.
Next question is if different processor influences on CSC configuration.
I'm less concerned with different model (Note 4 vs. Note Edge) as it is basically the same device. (or maybe I'm wrong here....?!)

I can't answer your question right now, but you can check yourself by following this instruction:
download the stock firmwares for both Note 4 and Edge, extract the CSC partition (cache.img.ext4 file) using Winrar and then extract this file using ext4 Unpacker tool.
That way you can compare the file structure of both models.
Or you could just flash my SkyHigh ROM ..... Changing CSC will FC the weather widget and no notification from weather widget on edge panel.

Someone help! Messed my build.prop, how can i get it back?

My phone is a Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge Oreo (8.0) specificaly it's the G935F, i searched EVERYWHERE and i can't find a copy of its system folder or build.prop at 8.0, but i found its firmware in Sammobile of 2GB, the exact phone model and version, does the firmware .rar includes build.prop?

Yes, the firmware file contains a copy of your build.prop.
It requires specific tools to extract the firmware file correctly to get to the system folder and build.prop.
Do a Google search for:
"How to extract Samsung firmware"
Or
"How to extract .tar.md5"

Thanks!!! No more headache lol.

Samsung Galaxy Note10+ 5G (SM-N976U1 Firmware)

I reside in Spain and was trying to find the Firmware to update my ATT Note10+ 5G (SM-N976U) and came across this website https://firmware.gem-flash.com to which I paid for the following files:
(1) COMBINATION_FAC_FAQ0_N976U1SQU3ATF1_FACFAC_CL18966390_QB32158047_REV00_user_mid_noship_MULTI_CERT.tar.md5
(2) N976U1SQU3ATF1_ENG_MODEM
I was hoping that the RAR files would contain the ODIN3 [BL/AP/CP/CSC/Home CSC/UserData] files but unfortunately it did not.
I would be most grateful if anyone can explain what the above files are for and if they are what I require to flash my phone and is there a program similar to ODIN that I would need to do so.
If necessary I can give access to the Gem Flash account from which the files can be downloaded and tested as it appears that the ''COMBINATION_FAC'' file is too large to upload here.
Thanks in advance for any assistance that may be offered.
Combination file is used to put the phone in factory(engineering mode), and the eng modem is just a modem extract from the combination file.
If you are not doing any hacks on the phone, those two files have no use

Change CSC code R775A

Hello everyone,
I am trying to change CSC code at my R775A but with no succed Watches are AT&T US version.
When I tried this method https://forum.xda-developers.com/t/...to-xar-to-enable-samsung-pay-sm-r770.3718236/ after flash the combination FW i was unable to open *#272*719434266344#, nothing happened.I Think that I was on old Tizen (2.3.2.1) which is not supported for this.
Tried the method via sdb tools on Tizen 3 after command "launch_app csc-manager.csc-pre-configuration" CSC manager opened, but there was only one option "AT&T".
So tried the hardest way for me with Tizen studio and change the files "csc-active-customer.inf" and "prodcode.dat" to BTU CSC code (want to run samsung pay with curve solution). But after flashed the stock (AP,BL and CSC), the CSC is probable again changed to US (I'm not fully sure if checking this information right - looking at *#1234#). So now I'm stuck at the latest stock ROM and scared to do some tricky changes which could brick the watches.
Thinking about changing the files now via tizen studio on the stock FW, but do not know if it is possible and might be complete brick...?
Other method which is on my mind - flash the combination FW, make changes to BTU CSC code (Tizen studio) and then flash only AP and BL - complete bullsh*t or is it possible?
Or is not workaround to inject BTU CSC option?
Is there any more security with LTE versions of this watches and it is impossible change them to other FW and CSC?
Actual FW of my watches: AP: R775AUCU1DTE1; CP: R775AUCU1AQD2; CSC: R775AATT1DTE1
I Appreciate every advice! and sorry for my english
You can not choose by dreaming CSC...
You can select between script files inside "CSC"... in this case I mean csc.img...
Use Tool 7zip to extract files from csc.img...
Then I hope you better understand...
BTU is NOT inside US ATT Firmware...
Best Regards
Hello adfree,
thank you for clarify this.
I looked at the csc.img and as you said there is only ATT CSC.
There is no chance to add to this csc.img another CSC from another csc.img FW?

How To Guide S908W CSC FOR S908E

Hi everyone. This is for anyone with a S908e device that lives in Canada and would like to have proper signal, 5g, rcs in Samsung messages among other things.
This should work for other regions as well such as the US. If you want to PM me your Home CSC from your regions most recent firmware, I could try and make a zip file for you as well.
This process below requires root as well as a root file manager such as Root Explorer.
1. Download the Canadian CSC files below to you phone.
2. Unzip file to your phone.
3. Go to the root folder in root explorer and backup the optics and prism folders.
4. Go into optics, configure, carriers and delete the singles folder.
5. Then go to the search location of the unzipped optics folder and copy all of the folders in carriers to the same folder on the root of the device.
6. Next do the same for all folders in the prism folder of root.
7. Once everything is copied go back to the root folder, change the permissions to exactly what the screenshot attached shows. Making sure you select the 2 check boxes on the bottom.
8. When that is done reset your phone. You should now get 5g, better signal and rcs in the Samsung messages app among other things.
This should work for other regions as well such as the US. If you want to PM me your Home CSC from your regions most recent firmware, I could try and make a zip file for you as well.
As always do this at your own risk and remember to back up your data.
Ps. If anyone might know which files in the CSC would deal with Sim Card Manager I am trying to figure out how to keep the settings in it from changing when the CSC is changed.
Hi there, would this also work for SM-S908N? Mostly for 5G access. Thanks!

I believe it should work for any S908W device. Just depends on the available bands. Try and let me know I can update to add the N.
If it does not work you have no worries, you can just reflash your Home csc from the S908N factory firmware and everything be fixed. There is no reason this will not work for your device. Should also work on a exynos device.
Hello, Can you please make a zip file for me. I have attached the Home CSC of current SM-S908W XAC Firmware. I am planning to change my CSC on my SM-S908N KOO device. Thank You.
