Question Watch4 Notifications are silent - Samsung Galaxy Watch 4

I am using my GW4 with my Pixel 4a 5G. For some reason all notifications are silent. I reset my watch/phone multiple times and checked every setting. For some reason i can not get my watch to vibrate when i get a notification on my phone. It just appears on my watch silently. Does anyone else have the same issue? What am i missing?

Works fine on mine, both vibrate and sound, checked the sound panel? That's my one at the moment.

Same with me. Gmail notification shows up on watch but does not vibrate. If u google the issue other ppl are also reporting.
As a workaround I am using Outlook for email and now the watch vibrates when email goes through outlook.

I had to add Gmail to the notification apps before this would work. No issues since

this is a known bug on wear os. reminder notifications, calendar notification are silent. google/samsung are not interested in fixing it. do not expect a fix anytime soon.

How do you even get the push notifications to work? I haven't received a single one. I only see the same refresh intervals as before the update.

You need to set up the refresh intervals to 'Never'.
Yeah Facebook authors suck.
It works on and off for me.
What I hate is, when I do get a push notification and I tap it, it goes to the notifications bar of facebook and I have to wait till THAT refreshes and shows me the actual notification... since the push notification only shows a few words... sigh.

Just with the app, it seems like push notifications are independent of the app, kinda like how iOS does it

That's weird. I have two copies of the Facebook app installed (Facebook and Facebook Pink); each uses a different account on Facebook, and neither one generates any kind of notification to me.

This won't hide your last seen status but will prevent you from getting any message outside the app itself
it works by killing the whatsapp background service and prevent it from restarting
Hope this clears the confusion

And the advantage is...? Other than maybe a somewhat better batterylife I fail to see any Usually an app like this is meant for people who want incoming messages to arrive will not constantly using the app.
YMMV of course, probably others will find it genius, dunno

You can't answer anyway because you HAVEN'T received it. As soon as you open the app and see the message you don't want to respond to you're already "online" again anyway and the same issue arrises. Why don't you answer, you are online!?
It's only of ANY use when you are able to see the message and the other party thinks not.

Got you sir but the app wasn't done for anonymously viewing the message but rather to not to get it in first place
WhatsApp doesn't go offline so you receive messages any time of the day, which maybe sometimes kinda annoying. so this disable the notification from coming if you want to and at the same time the other message stays at one tick so it didn't reach to the other side.

What IS handy is that you can "disble" Whatsapp temporarily while still being able to receive e-mail and other notifications. So in that regard: well done indeed :good:

Why not just make an app that will turn off notifications for whatsapp? I do that manually but an easier way of doing it would be great.

Hangouts notifications not working

Hello,
I'm experiencing some problems with the hangouts app notifications on my N5. Most of the time, the phone won't notify me of new gTalk (aka hangouts) chats or incoming video calls. It's really hard to maintain a conversation because as soon as you leave the app you complete forget about it.
Carrier/mobile number-related notifications work just fine. It's just the google/Internet part what's giving problems.
Any ideas?
Thanks in advance

Is this in wifi or data only. If it's on carrier data then it would be them closing the ports. I know I had that problem with straight talk, which is the main reason i stopped using them.

Hangouts doesn't require sync to push notifications.
Maybe its an issue with your push notifications themselves. Test if they work with this: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.firstrowria.pushnotificationtester

Try reinstalling Hangouts if you haven't already
Any progress on this? I am experiencing the exact same problem on my Moto X 2nd Gen.
The 4.4.4 update is the cause; Hangouts have problems to many devices.
It seems that the notifications ringtones are not installed properly.
What I've found on some forums and working for me:
1. Move all hangouts ogg giles from sdcard(emulated)/ ringtones to system/media/audio/ringtones
In order to do this you have to go to twrp , mount system and use file manager inside twrp
2. You have to do a small synchronization too.
Go to Settings --> Sounds --> Volume --> Volumes --> Uncheck "Link ringtone and notification volumes".
Then an additional choice appears for the Notifications.
After that I started to get the sounds when notifications arrived. I rechecked the "Link ringtone and notifications" and the volume still worked.
Seems like something that needed to be initialized once.
After this the hangouts notifications appears and play sound too.

That sounds weird.
I'd try logging out of the Android app and re-logging in, this will reset the sync and maybe it will fix your issue.
Regarding the screen staying on, no, the app doesn't prevent your screen turning off.

App Optimization notification is annoying!

It pops up once every couple days and just won't stop, even after adjusting the app optimization settings. Just keeps informing me of a feature I'm fully aware of. Anyway to stop this?
You can go to app notification option by pull down your notification bar and long press on the apps and turn on "block notifications"
What does it want from me?! Is there a setting, besides shutting it off, to disable that?
Oh nice!
I always forget about that feature, thanks!

No, I want the optimization feature active. I DON'T want the notification every 2 days. It keeps reminding me about the optimization feature as if I've never touched it. That on off you're talking about turns the whole feature on and off.
Briankbl is right, long pressing the notification does not give the option to disable the notification like most other apps. I've also been wanting to know a way to disable the notifications without disabling the feature. It's annoying for me too!
You can only hide the lockscreen notifications. Hopefully, at receiving Taskbar notifications every other day, it'll only be 10 or 20 more notifications before we OTA to 6.0 and don't have to deal with it anymore lol.
Any idea if this *beeping* notification is actually still active in 6.0? Or are we just hoping it goes away...because it's aggravating. So very, very aggravating...

Whatever - this only started impacting some users 2 days ago, so these other threads have not addressed the issue or closed it yet. (Yes, this is a dev. forum not a user forum.)
I take it, the notifications cannot be disabled without disabling the entire process.

hmmmm what do you think I was responding too because your answer to me makes no sense. but OK... Have a good day
It's been pissing me off as well, along with the daily volume notification that leaves me on my motorcycle every day wondering why my bluetooth headset is silent. So is this Samsung's meddling again, or is it Google this time?
I have the same issue. Since the last update on my Galaxy S4 (GT-I9515). The notification every few days is annoying as hell.
So annoying!!!
I threw my phone against the wall and smashed it because of that stupid annoying notification.
(Well not really but I feel like it)
I finally just turned that stupid feature off. It's not worth the annoyance.
