[App] Trillian beta for android

I searched this forum and did not find anything, so thought I'll create one.
Trillian for Android is out.
Best Android IM client I've used so far.
Nice features in short:
- chat tabs
- bubble conversation interface
- your account details are grouped and saved as an 'astra' account on their site.
- chats sent while you are offline are emailed to you

i've been using it and it's been great!

It force closes a lot when I multi-task back to it. I'm sending logs so I'm sure all the kinks will get worked out by the time it hits the market.

Love the interface also.

Looks promising, but there is no option to add a MSN messenger account.

I get the FC error when I switch back to it too.
Another think I hope they don't do is add ads to the free version.

I noticed that I don't get a notification (sound nor LED) after receiving a message, and I have to open the app then the notification will appear.
Anyone with the same problem?

I didn't have that problem, but I did have the force close issue.
Also I don't think it yet handles links... tried tapping on a link for half a minute, nothing happened

does the send IM via e-mail when in suspend work for you?
i am shown as online in the messenger, but i dont get the email with a new IM

Anyway, is there a way to remove IM to E-mail?

Tried the app today for a min, it is plain awful.

I can't even use it because I'm getting "wrong password" after registering and trying to login

no major issues on my end but it doesn't place nice with my messengers on my comp signing me out of FB and it not only wipes my WLM display pic(eBuddy also does this) but resets my theme
on the plus side it tells me when i contact is idle in WLM, something eBuddy doesn't do

and it changes your nickname for example my normal nickname qvert is too short for trillian account, if i changed it to something like qvert2 than it changes my nickname in my messenger networks to qvert2 too

It was a disappointment. I also uninstalled for the following reasons:
1) The push function to mail wasn't working on suspend mode.
2) The LED notification does not work.
3) fails to show notification for instant messages, have to open the app in order for notification to occur.
I know it's only beta but it just could not fulfill the basics of a IM chat client at the moment.

I know this isnt really Nexus S specific but has anyone else noticed with Refresh interval set to never and notifications set to off that you still get them?

I ain't complaining... it works pretty good... I am glad they got notifications and the widget working fine... Although you need to know that it's the OFFICIAL FACEBOOK APP, it will never work as intended, hence... always going to be broken...

lol, it doesnt bug me per say but its just a slight annoyance

How do you even get the push notifications to work? I haven't received a single one. I only see the same refresh intervals as before the update.

You need to set up the refresh intervals to 'Never'.

Yeah Facebook authors suck.
It works on and off for me.
What I hate is, when I do get a push notification and I tap it, it goes to the notifications bar of facebook and I have to wait till THAT refreshes and shows me the actual notification... since the push notification only shows a few words... sigh.

at first i was like wow really!?!?!?!? and then i realized you where kidding

Is there Any way at all to turn this crap off? I have refresh interval set to never and notifications set to never yet i still get the Push notifications.
Anyone else have this problem

You might have to check your settings on the desktop website?
I've got my account locked down via desktop and turned off notifications in App and I dont get notices.

mine is just the opposite. it doesn't give me notifications even though i have them set to.

Is this the Facebook app, or did you setup a Facebook account to sync with the phone in the Settings/Accounts & sync menu?
I have the app and I get no notifications.

Just with the app, it seems like push notifications are independent of the app, kinda like how iOS does it

That's weird. I have two copies of the Facebook app installed (Facebook and Facebook Pink); each uses a different account on Facebook, and neither one generates any kind of notification to me.

Hangouts MMS [FIXED-I think]

There was a big hangouts update today (you can get it on androidpolice.com). I just downloaded it and tested it, but didnt have much time to test it. It adds the APN settings in the hangouts settings and i'm pretty sure its working now. If anyone has time to test it out while on wifi, please leave a comment saying what APN you used and if it works or not.

Seems fixed to me too... I am on wifi at work, and mms goes through now with default APN... sorry didn't have more time to test.

Also seems to be fixed for me on default APN. I have many different APN names though, like 20+, some of them are exactly the same.

Sweet! Fixed it for me, sends relatively fast now, rather than 5 minutes or not at all! Back to Hangouts for me!
btw what do ppl here use for SMS backups? I used to use GoBackup but it doesn't work too well on this phone.

Hey guys I just received this phone yesterday, and have not been able to send MMS. This happened on my old phone too. I am almost always on WiFi. What do I need to do to fix the issue? Thanks!

Yes, it automatically installed yesterday. A clue to the issue may be that when I tried sending a message of Textra, it said "MMS Denied - MMS subscriber not enabled." I'm on the More Everything Plan with 12 GB of shared data.

i'm pretty sure you need data (not wifi, mobile data) to send MMS. when connected to wifi, i see 4G enable itself then i receive a picture message.

Did you have your data disabled while you were on WiFi? If so, I can imagine that would be why it wouldn't work..?

Yes I did. I turned it on, and the problem still persists. I'm going to consult a Verizon rep and see if I can get it fixed.
EDIT: Apparently my dad had put a bunch of blocks on my phone several years ago, that's why I was having problems. Called the rep and he unblocked everything.

Hangouts notifications not working

Hello,
I'm experiencing some problems with the hangouts app notifications on my N5. Most of the time, the phone won't notify me of new gTalk (aka hangouts) chats or incoming video calls. It's really hard to maintain a conversation because as soon as you leave the app you complete forget about it.
Carrier/mobile number-related notifications work just fine. It's just the google/Internet part what's giving problems.
Any ideas?

Yes, they're enabled. And yes, all google services are checked for auto sync.

Is this in wifi or data only. If it's on carrier data then it would be them closing the ports. I know I had that problem with straight talk, which is the main reason i stopped using them.

Hangouts doesn't require sync to push notifications.
Maybe its an issue with your push notifications themselves. Test if they work with this: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.firstrowria.pushnotificationtester

Try reinstalling Hangouts if you haven't already

Any progress on this? I am experiencing the exact same problem on my Moto X 2nd Gen.

The 4.4.4 update is the cause; Hangouts have problems to many devices.
It seems that the notifications ringtones are not installed properly.
What I've found on some forums and working for me:
1. Move all hangouts ogg giles from sdcard(emulated)/ ringtones to system/media/audio/ringtones
In order to do this you have to go to twrp , mount system and use file manager inside twrp
2. You have to do a small synchronization too.
Go to Settings --> Sounds --> Volume --> Volumes --> Uncheck "Link ringtone and notification volumes".
Then an additional choice appears for the Notifications.
After that I started to get the sounds when notifications arrived. I rechecked the "Link ringtone and notifications" and the volume still worked.
Seems like something that needed to be initialized once.
After this the hangouts notifications appears and play sound too.

same issue with my nexus 5 after today's OTA lollipop update.... luckily i found that google play wasnt working due to internet connectivity... though the net was on. i found out that the access point name was changed. when i switched back to vodafonemobileconnect, it started pouring in.

Bug in OTA Android 5.0 - Setting crash

When I go to Settings -> "Data Usage" the application crash: "Unfortunately, Settings has stopped".
Someone have the same problem?

I'm on T-Mobile, and have not had a problem with looking at Data Usage. Try reflashing?

Per the thread title, he didn't flash the ROM but did the OTA.

Try going into recovery, wiping the cache partition and rebooting.
If that doesn't work, you might consider doing a factory reset.

I don't know why he said OTA, but I don't believe he got OTA - nobody as far as I know has got OTA till now.
Anyway, I don't experience this issue and I don't think this is a bug.

People have started getting the OTA hours ago. Right around the time the factory images came online...

OTA filename or link pleaaaase!
That way we can see if the crashing problem can be reproduced
Format cache & dalvik cache, see if that helps.

I have seen only 1 guy saying he got an OTA and he was a troll using Moto X.
Anyway, the only one that experiences this type of issue is OP and no one else so this is not a bug by default and this thread needs to be closed/deleted.

I also have a similar problem trying to access language and input. It crashes. Haven't checked data storage setting yet.
Another bug I found, at least for my nexus 7 2013, is for apps that are call-related. Skype, kakaotalk, groove ip, none of them receives voice input from the other side to my device, hence it's muted or screechy.. Skype abruptly ends when attempting video chat, and voice chat doesn't properly start either. Note this is mostly voice apps.
People probably shouldn't conclude it's "pointless" or not without understanding properly what's going on.

Try to enable the Google Keyboard.

again... i recently install lollipop 5.1 and when i try to open "DATA USAGE" on settings menu, the application shows "unfortunately the application has stopped"... i can't access to this menu
I dont remember how i fixed this problem when i had the same issue with 5.0..... Can anyone help me?
i try with:
- wipe cache
- reset factory
- clear cache of setting app
nothing works

I went to my carrier's office and ask for a new simcard, telling them that the actual was damaged and guess what, it worked!! I finally could use the data usage function!

Thats true! But try to do what I did, or ask to a friend his own simcard and probably the feature will work.
